Psychiatrist Eve Thayer often tells her patients that accidents are just part of life, no matter how careful you try to be. Sometimes, those accidents can lead to unexpected blessings—like when she met her husband, Nathan, at his auto shop after a reckless driver forced her off the road. They’ve built a life together that’s pretty much what they dreamed of, but something feels off. The pressure in Eve’s life is piling up, both at work and at home. Even though her clinic has been revamped from its dark past as a place for the criminally insane, she can’t shake the feeling of discomfort there. Plus, a recent break-in at a vacant house nearby hasn’t helped her peace of mind. Detective Rita Myers is on the case, trying to figure out if Eve is in danger or if she’s somehow involved, and every unsettling event in their usually quiet neighborhood seems to point back to her. When a fierce ice storm hits, it becomes clear that Eve and Nathan’s lives are far from perfect, revealing the hidden secrets lurking just beneath the surface.

I have to admit, I didn’t know this audiobook was part of a series, but I never felt lost while listening. It’s told from three viewpoints: the wife, the husband, and the detective, Rita. The start is a little slow, but as it progresses, you really get hooked. The ending has some amazing twists that will make you go, “What?!”. I found the mix of police investigation work and psychological suspense super enjoyable while I was figuring out who the mystery person was. As for the narrators, Nick Mills, Christina Moore, and Rebecca Quinn Robertson, did an awesome job bringing the characters to life and cranking up the suspense! I would totally recommend it.
Thank You @netgalley and @ RBmedia for allowing me to review this audiobook.

I love every single one of the narrators. They were flawless! This story was so weird. I hated Nathan at first for being a whiny cheater, but he grew on me just a little as time went on. I loved Detective Myers. She was so interesting. I felt for Eve. She is so misunderstood for much of the book. Loved the whole book.

In the midst of a harsh Boston winter, a newly married couple's relationship starts to unravel after a series of deadly accidents. Eve Thayer, a psychiatrist, and her husband Nathan are facing mounting stress in their personal and professional lives. As their peaceful neighborhood is disrupted by unsettling events, Detective Rita Myers is trying to figure out if Eve is a target or a suspect. A deadly ice storm reveals the dark secrets lurking beneath the surface of Eve and Nathan's seemingly perfect life.
I understand that this book has received mixed reviews, but I consider myself fortunate to have received the audiobook for review. I believe that some books may be more enjoyable as audiobooks, so if you didn't connect with it in written form, I encourage you to give the audiobook a chance. I always make it a point to support my local library or small bookshop, as I appreciate the effort authors put into writing, especially in challenging times, to satisfy our reading cravings.
From the moment I started listening to this audiobook, I was captivated. The narrators did an exceptional job of keeping me engaged and fully immersed in the story. I have a great appreciation for narrators who can breathe life into a story and match the energy of each character. Often, while reading a book, I wonder how it would sound as an audiobook, and the choice of narrators for this one was spot on!
The characters in the book had secrets and a sinister aura about them. With multiple points of view from Eve, Nathan, and Rita, some clues were revealed early on. The main twist took me by surprise, and the suspense kept me on edge, making it difficult to hit pause when necessary. Despite the changing pace, the book was well-written, and the ending felt satisfyingly strong.
I was unaware that this book was part of a series, and I wish it had been better advertised online so I could have caught up on previous installments for a more complete experience. However, this book stands well on its own, as it didn't feel like I missed out on any character development. Still, I am considering going back to read the previous books.
If you enjoy a fast-paced whodunit with police procedural elements and domestic drama, this book is a perfect fit for you. If you find that the book isn't resonating with you, I recommend giving the audiobook a try. I hope this well-crafted, suspenseful book will earn a spot on your TBR list!
Thank you, RBmedia | Recorded Books, for the audio ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Really good book! I never expected the twists of all the connections with the characters. I'm a big fan of multiple POVs within the book so it was really fun to hear from all the characters. I will definitely be recommending this book to others!

Watch your back is the perfect story if you love great twists, this book hits all the marks.
It is a story about a psychiatrist, her loving husband and their beautiful baby girl. No marriage is perfect, she works long hours with difficult patients, she is a new mother with a baby that needs her. Her husband is trying his best to work, and help care for their daughter, he loves being a father but often gets lonely.
You never know who you can trust, sometimes people can never let go of the past and revenge is their driving force. Unless you watch your back, you won't see what is coming!

A wild ride of anticipation and unpredictable twists. This story will keep you guessing till the very end. The high stakes twists and turns, majorly borderlining nail biting suspense and thrills kept me the edge of my seat. Each character felt like hiding an ulterior motive.
Gripping and genuinely enthralling! Unputdownlable.

A well-paced police procedural and domestic thriller with engaging characters told through multiple perspectives. Officer Rita Meyers is solving the latest crime involving a kidnapping of a baby. The mother, a successful and burned out psychiatrist named Eve, fights her own demons as well as her marriage. Eve’s husband, Nathan, is involved in adultery when feeling isolated from Eve’s extensive work hours. When the baby is found with a note advising Nathan’s misdoings, multiple suspects become entangled in the baby’s disappearance. Is it one of Eve’s patients? The babysitter? Nathan’s mistress?
I enjoyed the narration. The characters were written well. However, Eve’s professionalism is questionable with her absent self-care and giving hugs to patients. Eve sounds chronically anhedonic (even before the kidnapping), and it wouldn’t be wise to see patients under her condition. Plotwise, I thought there were a few clever twists, with all suspects acting suspiciously. However, the ending felt a little stretched out, and the suspect’s motive felt a bit unbelievable. I suppose it didn’t help that I couldn’t connect to any maternal instincts, so this may have been more suspenseful for other readers. There was some wholesomeness of character interactions which I enjoyed, but for the most part I found this read okay, but a little drab.
Thanks to Netgalley, the author and publisher for this free arc in exchange for an honest review.

The narrators were fantastic and they all brought their characters and the book to life. It was a well published audiobook. However I just couldn’t get into it and found myself checking to see how much longer was left multiple times throughout.

Watch your back was an okay read for me. While the premise held promise, I found the pacing too slow, making the overall experience feel more tedious than suspenseful. It wasn’t the kind of thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat, and the story lacked the gripping tension I was hoping for.
Towards the end, the plot became overly chaotic, with so many twists and events crammed into the final stretch that it felt implausible—almost as if every possible scenario had to happen to the main character. This sudden flood of action felt forced, making it hard to stay fully engaged.
Overall, while it wasn’t a bad book, it didn’t stand out as a memorable or must-read thriller for me. Fans of slower-paced mysteries might enjoy it more.
Thanks for the ARC from NetGalley

The first paragraph of "Watch Your Back" had me completely hooked. This was the first book by Terri Parlato I've read and I will certainly be looking for more!
I'm a "good characters" reader. And these characters are very well drawn, pulling you into the heart and mind of each one. Eve and Nathan are a young couple with a baby daughter. Eve is a psychologist, while Nathan runs a collision shop. They married after a quick courtship, and a baby came unexpectedly, pulling the young couple into a time of stress and questioning their choices. They thought they'd found the perfect babysitter for baby Rosewyn, but had they?
What was going on in the house behind them? What was happening at the private psychiatric center where Eve managed the medical staff?
There are many plot twists and turns, and one savvy detective named Rita Myers. The story is told from all three viewpoints, and watch out for the red herrings!
I listened to this book through Net Galley, but all opinions are my own. There were three readers and they were all excellent!

I want to thank NetGalley for the Advance Listener Copy of Watch Your Back.
Honestly, I didn’t know that this book was apart of a series. I enjoyed this book and I’d imagine the rest of the series would be great!
Watch Your Back, is twisty but the plot and the characters are so well done. The book follows three characters points of view; Eve, a psychiatrist, her husband, Nathan and the Detictive Eve. The book has multiple reveals and every chapter is a new twist and I felt as if I was in detective mode.

I just finished listening to Watch Your Back. Terri Parlato is a new author to me. I was a bit hesitant to start this one, as I didn't realize it was part of a series, but I'm glad I decided to go ahead and listen anyway. I wasn't lost in the slightest, although some of the backstory regarding the detective Rita Myers went over my head a little. That's a me problem, though, and in no way reflects anything negative about Parlato's writing or storytelling ability. The premise—a couple unraveling after a series of “accidents” in a snowy, isolated Boston neighborhood—definitely grabbed me. Nathan and Eve were both a little off-putting for me, which contributed to the mystery and building suspense because I just could not get a read on either of them until the end.
I did have a little bit of a mixed experience with the pacing. The first half felt a bit slow, with lots of little hints and clues that didn’t fully pull me in, probably due to the fact that I didn't like any of the characters except Rita, whose role was minimal in the beginning. It wasn’t until things started unraveling more dramatically in the second half that the suspense really picked up.
The twists in the end were solid, though a few felt a little predictable. Detective Rita Myers was a highlight for me—her perspective added a nice layer of intrigue. Overall, Watch Your Back is a solid domestic thriller with some twists and turns that kept me entertained. Like I said, Rita was the highlight of the story, so I'll definitely check out the rest of the series, probably in audiobook format as I really enjoyed the cast of narrators for this book.

Here we've got a married couple going through a rough patch when all of a sudden their baby girl goes missing from the sitter's house, and that's just the beginning. This is definitely more of a police procedural/mystery than it is a thriller. So if you enjoy those then you will love this. The story was a little slower than I typically like, but it kept my attention and I was enjoying the mystery. I found myself trying to figure everything out the further I got. The end was full of twists that I did not see coming and I would be surprised if someone was able to guess them all because I was shocked!
This book has multiple point of views from three main characters. The audio has a different narrator for each character's POV, which I loved! It's much easier to get in that character's head when you have a different voice attached. I tend to enjoy these types of narrations the best! Overall, I rather enjoyed this one! I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys mysteries or more investigative based thrillers.
Thank you so much to NetGalley & @recordedbooks for allowing me to review the audio for Watch Your Back by Terri Parlato

Audiobook
This was my first book through @netgalley and I’m happy I was provided the opportunity to explore this story!
The audiobook has multiple narrators, which I always love as I find it adds more depth to the story as you’re listening.
The story itself was entertaining and keeps the reader guessing - twists, turns, deception, and intrigue. There were so many little side stories and characters that add to the “who dun it” element; these were all tied in together nicely with the use of Detective Rita.
If you’re looking for story that will keep you guessing until the end this might be for you!

Watch Your Back is my third book by Terri Parlato and I've enjoyed them all!! This story is told through alternating POVs. Eve and Nathan who are a married couple and Detective Rita Myers. I really enjoy this style of writing, so I was so engaged throughout the story. I was hooked in right away with the first chapter. I thought the pacing of the story was good, There were multiple reveals throughout the story, so I was engaged throughout. I really thought I had it all figured out, but I did not! The ending worked really well, and I loved the twists at the end of the story.
I'm looking forward to another installment with Detective Rita Myers!
I did also listen to the audio version of this story. I thought the narrators did a great job. I appreciated that it was dual narrators. It added so much to the story.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to listen and review!

I didn't realize this was book 3 in a series when I requested the audio arc. I don't think it hindered my experience at all. Although I now know why we got life updates on the detective.
This book was great. Alice Fenney level twists in my opinion. I suspected certain people throughout the book but I did not predict the ending. We have a kidnapping, a coma, an attempted murder, a murder, a stalker. This book has it all.
The narrators did a great job. I felt like their voices really fit their characters. I look forward to reading more from this author!

This book is part of a series but can be read separately. Everyone is a suspect! The author does a great job setting up the characters and on a whodunnit chase! The ending is a little crazy but I highly enjoyed this one!

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for this audiobook! I loved the narrating of this audiobook and it kept me captivated the whole time.
Eve Thayer, a psychiatrist meets her husband Nathan when she brings her car into his auto body shop.
Shortly after getting married Eve becomes pregnant to a little girl Rosewyn. Eve is trying to balance her busy work life while being a mom and wife. One day while at her babysitter Barbara’s house. Rosewyn. Detective Rita Meyers is the lead investigator and she she has a lot of suspects to look into including Rosewyn’s parents. Who would take an innocent baby? And why?
With many twists and turns this story had me wanting to listen all day. You think you have it figured out then a new twist has you seconding guessing. You will be shocked by the end.

I loved this book! The atmosphere was incredibly well done, pulling me into the story from the very beginning. There was a constant sense of tension that made it hard to put down. I really enjoyed the twists—they were clever and unexpected, yet somehow perfectly fitting with the rest of the story.
As someone who enjoys domestic thrillers, this one checked all the boxes. The complex dynamics between the characters kept me on edge, and the psychological tension felt so real. I’m usually drawn to police procedurals, but I actually found the absence of that element to be a refreshing change. It made the plot feel more mysterious and unpredictable, leaving me to piece things together alongside the characters.
This book kept me guessing at every turn, and I loved every moment of it. It’s definitely one I’d recommend to anyone who enjoys an atmospheric, twist-filled thriller.

Coming to my rating : out of 5 ⭐️
Title : ⭐️⭐️⭐️a good Title, somewhat connected to the story.
Cover : ⭐️⭐️⭐️the cover is good.
Character development : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️the main characters and the supporting characters are well established and explained, each character has gained as the story progressed, there is a lot of development in the character mentality too. As the story progresses we get to know how each character thinks and behaves, and this is aligning to thier Primary mentality. As it being a psychological thriller, there could be a bit more Depth into the antagonists thinking and mentality, We get to know all about it at the end, but it didn't sound wholesome and satisfying as that of the characters development of other characters.
Writing style : ⭐️⭐️⭐️the writing is good, We can get into the depths of each of the characters thinking and behaviour. The twists and the emotions are written well too. But there is a slight bit of repetitiveness in few scenes which dragged the scenes and bit at few places.
Originality and Plot : ⭐️⭐️⭐️the plot is good although the concept is a bit common one, but the development of the story is good. I am a bit dissapointed at how all the loose ends ard tied at the end, it seemed a bit not upto the mark, the concept could be a bit more good, but other than that, i did like the wholesome experience.
Emotional Impact : ⭐️⭐️⭐️it was a satisfying read, with a tad bit of disappointment.
Overall : ⭐️⭐️⭐️3.25 stars. I would like to consider reading other books by the author.

Engagement :🎶🎶🎶 I was engaged with the book, I had to adjust the speed of narration but other than that, it was good
Overall Enjoyment : 🎶🎶🎶other than pacing, Overall I did love the narration.
