I listened to the audiobook and loved the multiple POVs with the different narrators. This one took a bit for me to get interested but after the first big thing that happened, I was locked in all the way through! Lots of twists and turns throughout this one. Some I saw coming but others were completely blindsiding for me- love a book like that! Highly recommend this one!!

This book grabbed my attention from the very beginning. It can be read as a standalone book or as the 3rd book after All the Dark Places and What Waits in the Woods.

The main characters, Nathan and Eve, have been married for a couple of years and begin experiencing tragedies. The book starts with Nathan being in the hospital after an accident and fearing his wife. His wife, Eve, is a well-known psychiatrist at a local psychiatric hospital.

Detective Rita Myers is the 3rd main character. She is the lead detective for the crimes that occur. I really enjoyed the author including Rita’s personal life. It helped with the development of her character.

The storyline was interesting and flowed well. The twists and turns during the story made it difficult to pin down who the suspect was. I enjoyed the writing style. There were 3 narrators for the main characters, Nathan, Eve, and Detective Rita Myers.

I’d give this book 5 stars. I finished it in a day. I’m excited to read Terri Parlato’s other books!

This domestic thriller was just what I needed!

I DEVOURED this book.

This is another great installment of @terriparlatoauthors series about Detective Rita Myers! I’ve read the first one and thought this was the second but it’s the third.

Her books are so well written. They grab hold and don’t let go. This was a slow build up because there’s so many moving parts. You might be able to peace this one together but only if your lucky. The twists and turns had me either saying “What the F*ck?!” Or “I knew it!”
Definitely recommend this book!!! It was so fun trying to figure out just what was going on!

Shortly after Eve and Nathan got married, they quickly got pregnant. They weren’t expecting to and weren’t sure if they even wanted kids. Their marriage is suffering as Eve is having a hard time balancing life as a new mom, being a wife, and working as a Dr., a psychiatrist no less. Life is hectic to say the least. There’s a break in nearby, there’s fall out with a patient, and then there’s what happens to Eve.
Everything goes to shit, so to speak. Is she in danger? Is she the suspect?! All of these things keep happening around her and Detective Myers needs to move quickly trying to figure out just what is going on! Only as everything is pieced together will you just how many sinister secrets there were!

Will their marraige survive? Will they survive period?

Terri does a great job of pulling everything together in the end leaving no questions unanswered!

Grab this one today and have some time to read it because you won’t want to put this one down!

Thank you to the author and publisher for this arc! Although the premise of this story felt like it was going down an all too familiar “domestic thriller” path, I was pleasantly surprised with the resolution of this story.
As an audiobook, I appreciated the use of three different voice actors for Eve, Rita, and Nathan’s characters.
While the story is not one I’ll be thinking about for months to come, it was still a fun and interesting ride.
3.5 stars rounded up to 4!

Thank you Netgalley, RB Media /Recorded books and Terri Parlato for the eArc of Watch Your Back.
Narrated by Nick Mills; Christina Moore; Rebecca Quinn Robertson

This is the 3rd instalment of Detective Rita Myers series but it can be read as a standalone. Watch Your Back is a domestic psychological thriller with elements of Police protocol. Our main characters, Eve and Nathan have a fragile relationship and after their child goes missing, it's up to our DCI Rita Myers to put the pieces together. I found all the characters well rounded and human, including their mistakes and character faults. I have read the pervious books in this series and I really love Rita Myers, her thought processes and of course, her ability to be able to build in sketches as she investigates. I found this really endearing and unique and it also helps with her investigations.

I enjoyed the pacing of this book, it does open with a punch, slows down a little and then builds back up again which makes it medium paced. There is some nice foreshadowing and even though I picked up on these, it only added to the twists, the tension and the direction of the book.

Nick Mills, Christina Moore and Rebecca Quinn Robertson narrated Watch Your Back and loved their voices, their expressions and the pacing. All three suited this book perfectly.

4.25 stars for story graph and 4 stars for other review sites.

The third book in the detective Rita Myers series, this can be read as a standalone. In this latest mystery, Rita has to determine who is to blame for the disappearance of an infant. The parents are long past the honeymoon stage and are simply going through the motions as far as their marriage is concerned, but they both seem to genuinely love their baby and are distraught at her disappearance. Told from the points of view of the baby’s mother, the baby‘s father, and the detective, this is a well crafted domestic suspense story

A baby girl is abducted from a quiet Boston suburb in broad daylight.

Who did it and why?

BEWARE:
This pacey, twisty, and intricately plotted thriller is set in Massachusetts and features more red herrings than the Massachusetts seafood restaurant chain Legal Seafoods.

Even though the book is #3 in the author's Rita Myers series, it is a standalone read.

I was not a fan of Rita Myers Book #1, but this book wowed me.

I especially enjoyed the way the story unfolded from alternating POVs: Nathan (the baby's father), Eve (the baby's mother), and Rita (police).

WHY NOT 5 STARS?
The book's ending was OTT and the final twists were contrived and eye-rolling.

I listened to the audiobook read by Christina Moore, Rebecca Quinn Robertson, and Nick Mills.

Narrators reading the roles of Nick and Rita did a superb job.

The narrator reading Eve's role was lackluster and frequently mumbled.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars

This book did not grab or keep my attention as I hoped it might. I found myself more interested during the first big event, but quickly lost it once that part resolved. I didn’t find any of the characters likable or relatable. Overall, this one was a let down.

Thank you NetGalley and RBmedia for this ALC.

Thank you to Net Galley for the audio ARC of this title.
This was a classic whodunnit. We follow Nathan and Eve through their troubled marriage. They have a new baby. She is a busy doctor, and he is a doting father. Then suddenly, their world is turned upside down with one unfortunate incident after another. The way the twist keeps coming is crazy! This one had a Freida McFadden feel to it so it you love her books; you will devour this one! I didn't have a clue how this was going to end! Solid 5 stars!

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook! I loved the use of three different narrators! It really helped me keep the POVs straight. This is the third book in the Detective Rita Meyers series, but can definitely be read as a stand alone. This was such a fantastic domestic suspense! I loved the character development and the plot twists! It all came together so well in the end! I definitely felt like it was a satisfying ending! I love a thriller where everyone is a suspect and the author leaves you questioning everything!

I definitely recommend grabbing this audiobook if you enjoy domestic suspense! I’m looking forward to going back and reading the first two books in the series now.

When Nathan and Eve’s baby is kidnapped, Detective Rita Myers is called in to untangle a chilling mystery. Although part of a series, this book works well as a standalone.

As a fan of domestic thrillers, I appreciated that this story centered on Nathan and Eve rather than Detective Rita. She’s never really captured my interest, though I did like how her arc concluded here. It feels like a good setup for the next book, and I’m actually looking forward to seeing where her journey goes.

The pacing was steady throughout and never dragged. I also really enjoyed the alternating perspectives of Nathan, Eve, and Detective Rita.

Eve was my favorite character. She’s smart, level-headed, and willing to learn from her mistakes. The audiobook narrator, Rebecca Quinn Robertson, brought her to life beautifully—her voice is like butter!

As with all Detective Rita books, the crime itself was compelling and kept me hooked. The twists were surprising—maybe a little far-fetched, but hey, it’s fiction, and I’m here for the drama!

Fans of domestic thrillers and procedural mysteries will find much to love here. The mix of character drama and investigative tension is spot-on. I’ll be eagerly awaiting the next installment in the Detective Rita Myers series!

Thanks to Netgalley and RBMedia for access to this audiobook ARC in exchange for my honest review

I really enjoyed this book. This is the second book in the Detective Rita Myers series that I have read. I'm planning to read the book I missed soon. While part of a series, this can be read as a standalone. This tory is told from three alternating POVs, and I loved the multiple perspectives. This was a fast paced story that slowed down a little in the middle, but it was an enjoyable ride overall.

Eve and her husband Nathan are bogged down with life and their relationship has become one of merely convenience. When their daughter is kidnapped, things start to unravel and lots of secrets are unveiled. Will Detective Rita Myers find out who is out to get them in time?

The ending was twisty and my mouth was open during certain reveals. The full cast narration by Nick Mills, Christina Moore, and Rebecca Quinn Robertson had me fully tuned in and engrossed in what was happening.

Thank you NetGalley and RB Media for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

4 stars! 💫 Massive thanks to RBmedia, Recorded Books, and NetGalley for the complimentary audiobook of this thriller—it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, and I’m SO glad I got to experience it! 🖤

Now, let’s get into it! Watch Your Back kicked off with this amazing chilling winter setting that pulled me in right away. The mystery had me hooked from the start! We follow Eve Thayer, a psychiatrist juggling her hectic life with a husband, a new baby, and a career that demands everything. But when her baby goes missing under the care of their perfect-seeming babysitter, things go wild. 🚨 Cue the twists, secrets, and all the drama that unfolds with Eve, her husband Nathan, and Detective Rita Myers—this book was insane in the best way!

The alternating POVs between Eve, Nathan, and Detective Rita? Total chef's kiss! It really gave me the chance to dive into everyone’s motivations, and honestly, I was living for it. Plus, those twists?! Some of them had me gasping like, no way! 😱 There was one moment at the end that felt a little over-the-top, but honestly, it was still such a rollercoaster ride, I couldn’t put it down.

And don’t even get me started on the audio! Nick Mills, Christina Moore, and Rebecca Quinn Robertson totally nailed it. They brought these characters to life and really cranked up the suspense! 🎧👏

Overall, I had such an amazing time with Watch Your Back. It’s this perfect mix of domestic suspense and police procedural, with a whole bunch of sinister secrets, cold New England vibes, and a late-night hunt for clues that’ll have you sipping coffee at 2 AM. 🕵️‍♀️

Content Warnings: Infidelity, missing child, dementia, blindness, knife violence

This was such a good book. I loved the story and the writing so much. The characters were great and the story flowed smoothly. Will definitely read more books by this author in the future.

Terri Parlato’s Watch Your Back delivers an engaging and suspenseful thriller that will keep readers guessing until the very end. Psychiatrist Eve Thayer appears to have it all—a loving husband, a beautiful baby, and a fulfilling career. But beneath the surface, her seemingly perfect life begins to unravel as unsettling events pile up: eerie unease at her clinic, a break-in nearby, and her increasing involvement in Detective Rita Myers’ investigation. As secrets surface and danger mounts, Eve’s life spirals into a storm of deception and peril.

The book takes a bit of time to build momentum, but once the plot kicks in, it’s a wild ride filled with twists and turns. Parlato’s writing shines in the latter half, where the tension skyrockets, and the final revelations come like a whirlwind.

The audiobook narration by Nick Mills, Christina Moore, and Rebecca Quinn Robertson enhances the experience by giving distinct voices and perspectives to each character, immersing listeners in the story’s dark and suspenseful atmosphere.

While there were moments when I thought I had everything figured out, the story surprised me with its unexpected twists. If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers with an undercurrent of domestic tension, Watch Your Back is worth a read.

Thank you to NetGalley, RB Media, and Terri Parlato for the opportunity to listen to and review Watch Your Back!

I went in blind- I haven’t read the other two books in this series. That being said, I really enjoyed Watch Your Back. I am a sucker for any detective “who did it” thriller. The beginning will really pull you in wondering what is going on with Nathan (the husband). Throughout the novel there are so many characters that you will question, like, hate and wonder if they have anything to do with Eve’s life totally exploding. I also found myself also thinking “I would totally make different decisions” so be prepared for a wild ride.

Wow! Talk about fast paced, jaw-dropping twists and turns!! 😮😮😮
This. Was. Amazing!!!!

Eve is a Psychiatrist. She’s followed in her father’s footsteps and become a doctor, but not the high stress kind he was. No, she found her niche is psychiatry. She’s happy with her job and seems to be moving up the ladder nicely.

Her husband, Nathan has a collision shop. They met when she had an accident and brought her car in. They had a whirlwind romance, and got married pretty quickly…to Eve’s surprise!

Now they have a beautiful baby girl, and life is good! Or is it????

As little tiny pieces of their lives begin to unravel they realize that things in their quaint, small town are changing too…

Chief Detective Rita Meyers, who rarely ever has a bad day in their small town is now barraged with awful cases…one right after the other.

I’m going to 🛑 STOP RIGHT HERE🛑!!
If this sounds good to you, please look 👀 for it!

4 1/2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 for me, rounded up to 5!

Watch Your Back by Terri Parlato is a an interesting and gripping domestic thriller. This is not the first book I've read by this author so I had a feeling I was going to enjoy it. And I was absolutely right. The characters were all so unique and complex. Their flaws and secrets really drove the story. The plot was full of twists and turns that kept the story interesting. The cold and wintery setting was perfect for reading on a snowy night. The audiobook has amazing narration done by Nick Mills, Christina Moore, and Rebecca Quinn Robertson.
