4.5 🌟 This was my first Megan Lally book and I went into it completely blind. I didn’t realize until I started listening to it that it’s a YA thriller and I absolutely loved every second of it! It felt like Gossip Girl but with a mysterious murder and a suspenseful whodunnit plot. I was completely gripped by the story from start to finish and even the dedication (which made me chuckle) hooked my attention:

“For anyone who has felt the unique pain of being betrayed by a friend. They don’t deserve you. Never did. Wish them the worst. Hit ‘em with your car. Just kidding. That’s murder.”

Action packed throughout, chock full of drama, deceit, and betrayal, and ending with lots of juicy twists, this was one of the best thrillers I’ve listened to. Megan Lally immediately makes my list of auto-read authors and I will whole-heartedly recommend this book and author to anyone asking for a good thriller. Can’t wait for my hold on her debut novel, That’s Not My Name, to come through on Libby.

Many thanks to RBmedia for this ALC in exchange for an honest review!

*One thing I wish I had known going into this book, especially listening to it as an audiobook, is that the timeline of the plot switches between a party at a lake house that happened in September and to a party at a beach house that happens in “current” day, presumably sometime near the end of senior year as preparing for prom is a big topic of discussion. I imagine that the timeline is very clear and straightforward if you are reading the book, but I got a little confused at the beginning as an audiobook because I thought it was the same party for a minute. I had to make sure that I paid attention to when it transitioned between the two parties. That seems really easy but if you’re listening and multitasking like me, then it could easily go unnoticed and blur into one big party but it’s very important to note the difference between the two to fully understand the plot.*

This was a fun, fast-paced thriller that had me trying to piece together each layer chapter by chapter. Megan Lally’s No Place Left to Hide is a thrilling YA suspense novel that keeps you hooked from start to finish. The twists and tension made it nearly impossible to put this book down. Brooke Goodwin, a high school golden girl with a perfect life, faces an unraveling reality after a tragic lake house party shatters everything. Now plagued by anonymous threats and a relentless stalker, Brooke’s story unfolds through a gripping dual timeline that alternates between the present and the events leading up to the tragedy.

Everything is going Brooke's way when she finds out she has gotten into Yale. Deciding to celebrate in style and knowing her crush will be there, she attends a party but is shocked when her enemy, Claire turns up. Brooke thought she'd moved away. Why was she there? And could she be the one behind all the threats and nasty pranks that Brooke has tried to keep secret?

This was a fun read. It was fast paced and while it wasn't overly believable in parts, I rolled with it and really enjoyed it. It did seem quite immature at times to me but I think that is me reading a YA book after such a long time. Lots of secrets and nasty characters always make a thriller interesting so if this is your cup of tea, be sure to pick this one up.

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
In this YA thriller we are introduced to the main character, Brooke, whose promising future is threatened by her disturbing past.
The story is formatted as a duel timeline and slowly clues the reader in to the events leading to the death of her once friend and classmate.
Overall the book has some solid twists, even if some of them feel a bit familiar for someone who reads a fair share of thrillers. I would recommend this book to anyone in the mood for a fast paced quick read!
This one gives Pretty Little Liars vibes.

If Megan Lally writes it, I will read it! Her debut was a five star read for me and though her second book is very different, it’s just as good! I loved the way this story was told in alternating chapters between before and now. The dual timeline added so much to the way the story unfolded! I found this to be a very compulsive read. I finished it during a late night reading marathon after I found myself unable to put it down!

I feel like this is a story I can’t say much about without giving something away! The less you know going in, the better. Let’s just say, Megan Lally really is in her villain era with Brooke’s character! If you enjoy YA thrillers, you need to grab this one. I highly recommend the audiobook! The narrator does a great job bringing the story to life!

What an incredibly fast pace thriller this was! I read this book in less than 24 hours because it was quite literally so gripping I could not stop. The tempo of this book went back and forth from past and present beautifully. Mean girls vibes mixed with Riverdale! The FMC of the book in the rich golden girl of her area & and incident occurs that ends in her classmate dying. Everything for the golden girl changes that day forward & while she believes she has everything worked out, it all takes a change. Everyone is lying, what could possibly go wrong?!

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to listen to this ARC!

Megan Lally does it again! I was so excited to receive an advanced copy of this book as I was a huge fan of Lally’s other book ‘That’s Not My Name’. The twists and turns (pun intended) of ‘No Place Left to Hide’ were so well done. While I did guess the ending a little sooner than I would’ve liked I found how the ending of the book was done to be so satisfying. I highly recommend this book!

This was a 4.3 for me, I really enjoyed it. I saw some of the mixed reviews about it. But, I personally think if you don't love YA, you are not going to enjoy this book. This is 100% YA, all the way! Think Gossip Girl meets Pretty Little Liars. Lots of immature teen drama and poor decision making skills haha. I was so frustrated with the FMC but I absolutely found the ending very satisfying. If you enjoy teen angst and bad choices, this is your book haha

This Book should be on your TBR! Go pick it up today. From the first page you won’t be disappointed. The author will keep you guessing until the very end. I’m literally Blown Away with the twist and turns. It is a book you will not want to put down and will still reading late into the night. Megan Lally books never disappoint but this just became my favorite so far!

A Short Fast-Paced Thriller

I listened to the audio version of this book narrated by Justis Bolding. This was my first experience of Megan Lally's writing and at first I thought that it wouldn't be for me with very obvious attempts to tell the reader we were not going to find out about "The Incident..." any time soon, however the pace of the book quickly had me hooked and I was keen to continue and find out more. The novel works between present day and "before" and the split of this works well for the story and I was equally invested in both parts of the book. There were not many likeable characters in the book but where other people have rated the book down for this, I didn't mind disliking them as I enjoyed that I had feelings towards them. For me what lowered the rating on this book was the there felt like there were too many plot holes, the ending, which was fairly predictable, felt rushed. Top marks to the narrator Justis Bolding who brought the intensity for this face paced story.

As I was listening to this book I kept thinking there is no way I could possibly care about these terrible things that are happening to this awful main character. Turns out that may have been the point. A testament to the author and her writing that I hated Brooke from almost page 1. I really enjoyed watching the story unfold. I felt the tension like I was there. This was really well written.

Many thanks to NetGalley and RB Media for the free audiobook in exchange for my honest review. Justis Bolding does a great job narrating this and makes it a realistic listen!

Classic highschool golden girl, Brooke Goodwin, who always has the best looks, clothes, car, perfect grades, and an intense extracurricular program, appears to be the perfect student, daughter, and friend until her world is broken apart by a drowning death at her family's lake house. A tragic boat accident during a party she secretly organized at her parents' lake house takes the life of Claire, her classmate and arch-nemesis. Brooke has been threatened in public and in private, and been forced to endure multiple tire slashings, newspaperings of her car and other bullying for the past 6 months while she is trying to lay low and get on with her life at college.

On the day that the "Ivies" notify students of their acceptance, the seniors traditionally throw a huge party that Brooke really does not want to attend but does so at her BFF Jen's insistence. But, after the party, a Bronco is tailgating her and her unknown caller is escalating his threats, so Brooke resolves to beat her tormentor at his own game.

This is such a suspenseful and fast paced story! I literally almost had an anxiety attack in the first couple of chapters! The tension build up is palpable. While I did not like most of the characters, I did find that there were some implausibilities in the plot line but nothing I could not overcome. This is definitely more of a YA thriller and overall, a 4 star read!

Wow, this is the kind of young adult thriller that would have gotten me to open a book as a teenager!

If you like the drama of Pretty Little Liars, you will eat this one up!

It starts off following a high-school senior on a normal day of school while she waits for her college acceptance letter. Suddenly, things take a turn and get intense quickly! Car chases, back-stabbing friends, family drama, what more could you want in a YA thriller 😂

This book is one you can fly through in one sitting!

I read this with my bookclub of 24 and we all had a blast reading!

If you haven't read Megan's debut, THAT'S NOT MY NAME, make sure you read that one too!

Absolutely loved this book! Both of Megan Lally's books will go down in my favorite mystery reads that I recommend to others. The narrator was really captivating and expressive. I actually received this book before as an DRC (digital review copy) and this audiobook was just as great. Thank you to Netgalley and RBmedia for this audiobook ARC! I have copied my previous review below, as my feelings still stand:

4.75 stars! Face paced. Totally captivating. Heart stopping.

This is definitely an action packed read. If you like Megan Lally’s last novel, That’s Not My Name, buckle up for the ride of Brooke’s life (literally). I completely devoured this book over the span of two nights. I stayed up super late last night because I absolutely could not put it down. This thriller is nonstop suspense and jaw dropping twists and turns. As someone who reads a lot, I find a lot of thriller/suspense plots pretty easy to figure out but this one… DUDE THIS ONE! From beginning to end, I had no idea what was going to come next. I felt every moment of moment and seized breath that Brooke did in this story. I have found that YA thriller/suspense books are more enjoyable for me than traditional adult ones.

100% recommend this book to readers who want to dip their toes into thriller books and seasoned readers alike! I took a tiny bit off of my rating because I felt like the ending wrapped up a bit too abruptly and left me a lot of unanswered questions. However, the overall conclusion was satisfying. Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Fire for this arc.

Brooke Goodwin is the perfect student and daughter. Or at least that is what she expects of herself: perfection. Her family's name and reputation are everything and she has to do her part to keep up that role. She has just gotten her acceptance letter from Yale and the guy of her dreams is available and has his eye on her! When Brooke's best friend Jen asks her to come to a celebration party, Brooke is not sure it's worth the risk. But dream guy will be there, and with Jen's promise of no drinking, no trouble, and home before curfew, what could go wrong? Brooke knows all too well what could go wrong... after all, someone died at her party 6 months ago.

This book was fast paced and full of tension. I don't usually read Young Adult, but the description and rave reviews from Megan Lally's first book, That's Not My Name, intrigued me. No Place Left to Hide hooked me and held my attention though the whole ride with a story you will love to hate. Not going to give too much on this one, as I think it is a story to go into blind and enjoy the twisty ride.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and RBmedia for the audiobook for review.
