I consumed this book, when I read the synopsis I was intrigued and then I started the book and I could not put it down. The author brought humor and real life to the gods in this story. Beautifully written. 5 stars.

Thank you to author Morgan Rider, Wattpad Books and NetGalley for the eARC of A Goddess Unraveled in exchange for my honest review.
Lexi, who has always led a life of privilege, graduates college and returns home to find the charmed life she and her family enjoy has literally been touched by the gods. As the story unfolds and more truths come to light, Lexi must choose her fate in this new adult coming of age story.
While I enjoyed the idea of the story, the presentation felt a little lackluster. It’s written well but there’s really not a whole lot happening in this story. The author has a good story to tell, but a shorter version would have been better, in my opinion. The first 40% of the book centers on a weekend party to celebrate the FMC graduating, and not much else happens in that time. When the story and the romance finally kick off, they both feel rushed, and the spice is generic/borderline nonexistent. I was expecting a climax or grand finale that was never delivered on.
This is the first book in a series but it ends like a standalone (loose ends notwithstanding), which was nice. The reader has the choice to end the story now or continue in future installments. I will be stopping with this book, but I wish the author all the best for future books.

I really am a sucker for a Hades/Persephone retelling so when I saw this I was immediately intrigued. This is different in that Persephone is still around and the FMC Lexi is the love interest. This was a fun twist on the story and has a lot of room for depth and growth as this series progresses.
I loved all of the characters and found them so interesting! Their backstories and how they played into the overall plot had me super engaged and wanting to know more. Hades is what you would expect from your MMC; kind, gorgeous, charming. Lexi, unfortunately, was a bit hard to like and I didn’t quite relate to her like I would like to.
My biggest “complaint” is that the main conflict didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me and was just a bit underwhelming. I didn’t really understand Lexi’s issue and found her to be a bit selfish.
The magic and lore in this story was very unique and added a breath of fresh air to what can sometimes be a rinse and repeat type of story. I really enjoyed this aspect and applaud the author for their creativeness.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own. **💕**

Thank you to Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group and Morgan Rider for the #netgalley ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Overall I enjoyed this book, as I do with most mythology retellings - however I would consider this book as more of a "spinoff" as it doesn't follow the general storyline of Hades and Persephone. Which is totally fine, however given the description of the book, I think it was a little bit misleading.
The book read like a classic fanfiction, which I actually really loved. Just the pacing felt a little off, dragging out some parts that could have been shorter while speeding through some scenes that I would have liked to dive into a bit more. In saying that, I think that this book set the stage up nicely and the more I read the more I enjoyed.
I am still eager to continue with the series and read more from Morgan Rider!

Story about Lexi Maxwell. She just graduated from college and has returned to her family estate for a week long party. Her parents have invited many eligible bachelors but seem to be trying to keep her away from Luke Carrington. Over the course of the week, Lexi learns startling information about both her family and herself.
I enjoy books based on Greek myths and this is probably the most unique one I’ve read. The idea that certain families would trade freedom for the wealth and privilege of being connected to Gods makes sense. Lexi’s opposition to an agreement she didn’t choose also made sense. I really liked her resolve and willingness to stand up for herself and live her own life.
Lexi is a college graduate but comes off more like a teenager. She was sheltered by her overprotective family, but I still felt the author would have been better off saying she was graduating from high school instead of college. She was just too naive and trusting to be a believable 20 something.
The romance comes together nicely. I liked that they built on their attraction with meaningful conversations before the relationship developed further. I am curious how his connection to Persephone plays out in the next book. It did seem like Lexi should have asked more questions about her.
This was a fun and engaging take on Greek mythology. I am interested in reading the next book in the series to see how Lexi’s story continues.

I DNFd this book. I really enjoyed the writing and storyline but was unable to continue after the discussion of Persephone. I totally understand the rationale given especially with many of the myths surrounding the Gods and infidelity. It’s just not my cup of tea so I won’t leave a review on external sites.

4 Stars ⭐️
I really enjoyed A Goddess Unraveled! The Greek God-inspired story was a fun blend of romance and mythology, with Lexi’s journey of self-discovery was interesting. I was rooting for her the whole time, both in her personal growth and in her romantic endeavors. While the pacing felt a bit slow at times, I loved the chemistry between Lexi and Luke. Overall, it was a fun and engaging read!
Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publishers for providing me with this e-ARC.

Based on the title, I expected a bit MORE Goddess action, and like crazy vengeance as she became unravelled - but I got a very relatable, yet moody College Graduate instead! Join our female main character as she struggles with the most authentic challenges and familiar hurdles all young adults deal with - overbearing family that want "whats best". She has to learn a LOT about family secrets, herself, and a fight for her freedom and independence. This is a fairly easy read and I'd give it a 1.5 on the spice scale.

Maybe it because I read Lore Olympus first or maybe it's because I like a Sad Boi MMC but this book felt disappointing. There was way too much focus on the FMC feeling lied to by her family, it came off as whiney and not enough of the MMC being lonely. It doesn't help that we all know the Phersephone/Hades story and some people myself included are going to be upset that this story is predicated on the break up of their marriage. It may work better as YA as it gives, for me at least, Twilight vibes.

First, I want to say I'm a sucker for a "Persephone & Hades" retelling/reimagining. So I was very excited to dive into "A Goddess Unraveled." There are a lot of things I liked about this book, such as the pacing (although it was a little slow in the beginning, it eventually picked up) & the MMC, Luke. With that being said, the MFC did come off as a bit juvenile, which I'll chock up to her sheltered upbringing, but the decisions Lexi made were quite infuriating at times. All in all, an enjoyable read.
(Will be posting on social media the first week of April 2025)

A shorter story of a Goddess finding herself in the disgruntled world that is the Gods.
Lexi finally graduated college, only to be struck with news she would have never guessed. While attending her grad party, she finds a draw toward Luke, who Uncle Z and her whole family tells her to stay away from.
A give this book 4 stars just because I felt the weekend for her party was a lil too long, and I wish the spicy scenes told more.
Overall a good book and would recommend if you like romance and mythology!

First and foremost, thank you to Netgalley for providing me with this ARC.
Unfortunately, this book just wasn't for me. The main reason was that I felt like I'd been bamboozled. The book's own summary claims: "Fans of spicy retellings of the Hades and Persephone myth will love this version, which puts its own unique twist on the tale." However, this is not a retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth. It's a fanfic that poses the question, "What if Hades chose (Insert your name here) instead of Persephone?"
I call Fanfic specifically because of the way the author takes characters from the Greek myths and uses them as they see fit. One example of this would be Mnemosyne. Mother of the Nine Muses; Calliope, Clio, Polyhymnia, Euterpe, Terpsichore, Erato, Melpomene, Thalia, and Urania. There was never any mention of a Clary as this book suggests, and also this "Clary" never shacked up with Hades... Also, as this book would suggest.
Other than the fanficy vibes, the dialog was often juvenile and stilted. I kind of felt like the author was trying to do a sexy Percy Jackson by way of Hades, again JUST Hades... No Persephone. We literally never see her on the page. The execution of this just didn't hit the mark for me.

Big thanks to Morgan Rider and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for a review.
This was a quick and easy read about a woman who just recently graduated from university who comes home to some unexpected news that's been hidden from her. She's been looking forward to traveling when things change overnight with the revaluation about the gods and goddesses that, unknowingly to her, live among the humans.
It's a Persephone and Hades retelling, from the perspective of... not Persephone. I had a hard time relating to the FMC, she was REALLY sheltered rich girl. I could only wish to be able to relate. There is an age gap and virgin troupe, which feels a tiny bit exploitative, given her naivety.
I'm giving 3 stars. I usually love the Greek stories retold, I just couldn't enjoy the FMC as much.

At first I wasn’t sucked in. I thought it was going to be your typical hades and Persephone retelling. It’s not. It’s so much better than that. I really enjoyed this and I’m itching for the next book already. I enjoyed how Lexi stood up for herself and took control over her future. Not caring about the consequences of her actions. It’s going to be interesting to see how all this plays out.

Not a bad Hades and Persephone retelling - a little dark but overall a good story. It would be a good step into this genre of greek mythology retellings

Thank you Wattpad Webtoon Studios for providing this eARC for review consideration via NetGalley, here are my personal opinions! This story is described as a re-imaged Persephone and Hades retelling but I would say it follows that structure very loosely, and unfortunately I do not think this book was for me. The beginning half felt a bit too long, but I think the latter half and ending build potential for the rest of the series! I would recommend this book to younger adult readers who like the idea of Greek Gods/Goddesses but re-imagined (very loosely) into today’s society.

I really enjoyed this book! I love a good romantasy and this Greek Good inspired one was so fun. I was really rooting for the MFC the entire time outside of her romantic endeavors (which I was also rooting for!) This was a great read and I already can't wait for the next one! **Thank you NetGalley for this free ARC!**

I'm a sucker for any Hades and Persephone retelling and this one is no different. It's greek mythology so I expected some betrayal but man there was so much betrayal! I felt so bad for Lexi by the end as the lies kept piling up. I think this was a good first book for the series and laid a lot of groundwork for the second book to really take off running. I'm excited to see where Morgan Rider takes it.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

Some books whisper their way into your heart, and others crash into your soul like a storm. Goddess Unraveled is the latter—a breathtaking symphony of mythology, magic, and raw emotion that demands to be felt. Morgan Rider has spun a tale so immersive and intoxicating that reality slips away, leaving you tangled in a world that feels as ancient as it is alive.
The storytelling is rich, weaving an intricate web of fate, power, and the heavy burden of destiny. Every chapter unfurls like a prophecy, both inevitable and unpredictable, drawing readers into a plot that never loses momentum. The prose is lush without being overwhelming, striking that perfect balance between lyrical beauty and fast-paced action.
And then, there are the characters. Oh, the characters. Each one crackles with life, their desires, flaws, and inner battles laid bare in ways that make them impossible to forget. The protagonist is everything I crave in a lead—strong yet vulnerable, shaped by pain but not defined by it. The supporting cast? Equally mesmerizing, each with their own gravitational pull, ensuring no moment feels empty or wasted. The relationships—whether fraught with tension, simmering with unspoken emotions, or forged through fire—are written with such authenticity that they feel like living, breathing entities.
Now, if I had to nitpick (and I mean really nitpick), there was a moment or two where the pacing slowed just slightly, lingering longer than necessary on descriptions that, while beautifully written, momentarily paused the momentum of the plot. But compared to the sheer brilliance of this novel, it’s like noticing a ripple in an ocean of perfection. It barely registers because the rest of the book is just that good.
This is the kind of novel that lingers, haunting your thoughts long after you’ve turned the last page. Readers won’t just consume this book—they’ll experience it.
A tale that doesn’t just captivate—it claims you, body and soul.

I am an absolute SUCKER for anything Hades and Persephone and this was no different. So well written and great twist. It gives you a break from all the re-written stories of the origin of Hades and Persephone.
