Heat Factor: I’m not sure what’s going on with our main characters, but the king and his affianced princess finally smooch.
Character Chemistry: So. Much. Awww.
Plot: Lucia finds out Modeus was created to kill faeries, and the political situation becomes more complicated
Overall: I am so invested.

My husband asked me what I was reading, and I got very invested in explaining everything about this story (luckily there are pictures, so I could point to all the characters), and when I got to, “It’s all very exciting,” he had to agree with me. Because it is.

Because the serialized graphic novel format really only focuses on one main happening that drives the plot forward, we haven’t really taken a huge step forward in the narrative, but it’s definitely enough that I’m no longer just interested, I am fully invested in figuring out this mystery. And if there’s actually going to be some kind of romance between a sentient magical construct and a secret faerie. So here’s where we are now:

Lucia is a genuinely good soul, and she’s also in a pickle.
She likes to rescue injured animals, y’all. She’s just a kind and considerate person. I love her. But she’s also a faerie in a realm where humans are trying to kill faeries. Like, the whole point of her friend/bodyguard/shadow, Modeus, is to kill faeries. Unfortunately, both from the castle mage and the faerie that was captured in the prior book, she’s learning more about her heritage than she ever did as a child in the other king’s home, and the things she’s learning are worrisome.

Magic in humans is one (small) thing, but in the hands of the fae, it might explain why there’s a war.
Lucia’s power is exponentially greater than that of her fully trained mage mentor, and she’s had, like, one lesson. We have to wonder if that’s the reason humans are so fearful of faeries. But also, if faeries are so powerful, how is it that humans are so able to oppress them and their elf counterparts?

The war with the fae seems like it comes with a lot of indoctrination and isn’t really being controlled by the highest levels of government.
We learn that the king isn’t even in charge of the war, his uncle is. What exactly is his uncle up to? I mean, we know all faeries aren’t bad just from the two (plus the deer-shaped one we meet briefly in this book) we’ve met thus far. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

The knight and his squire are just trying to survive.
The ridiculous knight has PTSD from fighting the faeries, and he wants nothing more than never to go back there. It’s pretty clear he’s not on board with the fight, but why exactly? Meanwhile, his partner, the squire, is being heckled about why he’s not promoted yet, but a rise in station would make their secret romance much harder to hide. I really feel for these guys.

Lucia’s bestie, the future queen, could end up being an inadvertent bad guy. So could the king and the mage, but I’m not sure about the “inadvertent” label for those guys, yet.
It’s pretty clear that the future queen, Kirsi, has drunk the anti-fae coolaid, and isn’t prepared to question the justice of the war. Lucia is very clearly interested in asking questions to understand the people and situations surrounding her better, but Kirsi never does. In addition, she’s now closer to the king, who is nominally in charge of this war, and he’s got the same frame of mind. Lucia’s mentor, the castle’s mage, seems to have a greater acceptance of nuance where magic is concerned, but at the same time he created Modeus specifically to kill the fae. What’s going to happen when Lucia is suddenly behaving too outside the norm?

This book is still pretty light—possibly due to the cuteness of the illustration, which is not edgy at all—but things are happening that have fully drawn me into the mystery. I was also really saddened when the magical creature (a faerie trapped in a cervine body) was killed. But so was Modeus, so he’s continuing to be a very interesting character. I can’t wait to find out what happens (it is a bit of a cliffhanger). And, you know, the secondary characters are great, but there is no adorable like the Modeus and Lucia adorable.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. We disclose this in accordance with 16 CFR §255.

4.5 ⭐️

“You make me feel warm”

Yeah that’s enough for me to see Modeus and Lucia as endgame. Everything about their budding friendship just warms my heart. Plus the side story with Peres and Baynard is just the cutest. I can’t wait to continue to Volume 3 because that cliffhanger has me on edge omg.

Suitor Armor by Purpah has been a longtime favorite of mine! Since I originally read it on the Webtoons app, I am delighted to return to this world as the comic comes out in print!

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

First and foremost, Purpah’s art is STUNNING. Their use of dynamic motion, reactions, emotions, colors… I could go on. There is not a wasted moment in any panel. In emotional moments the art really comes to life and just like a perfect description, it really helps the story jump off the page. I just can’t stop looking at it and I know I’ll reread this story again and again.

(Can we just take a moment to admire Lucia’s hair?)

In volume 2 of Suitor Armor, we get to see the development of Lucia’s story as she navigates her hidden identity, learning magic, and helping the silent suit of armor, Modeus, learn how to speak. What is beautiful and wistful in volume 1 becomes more dangerous and exciting in this volume, without losing the cute moments or the swoon worthy slow burn between Lucia and Modeus. Having read far past this volume online, I don’t want to say too much here but if you are a fan of fantasy, secret moments, and a story with a variety of good friends to brighten each encounter (when they are not adding to the turmoil) I highly recommend this one!

This is my honest review in exchange for a Netgalley ARC copy of this work.

Omg this is such a beautiful series, both in artwork and depth of story. So much love and possible heartache with so many of the characters! This hits all my fantasy interests and I just can’t wait to see what happens next! Can’t wait to get this at the library to see how many more people will love it with me 🥰
Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this ARC, you make my world better!

Volume two is here! I was so happy to get an eARC of this one.

This one picks up right were the first one stopped, so I won't say too much about it. Of course, the art is great, but the story is progressing in a fun way as well. Lucia is learning more about her past and who she really is. Modeus is growing a lot as a character as well. He is learning more about people's emotions, including his own. Other characters are also changing and growing too.

Such a fun time, can't wait to see where this story is going!

Thank you to NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Lucia is back to trying to hide her identity after the recent capture of a fairy in the castle. She begins to see how more around her react to the prescence of the fairy and their dislike of them. She learns Modeus's true purpose but begins to see how she influences him.

In this volume, we get to see Lucia begin to notice how those around her react to the fairy threat. We can see why she has held herself back from others over the years. Her interactions with Modeus are so cute. He begins to think for himself more and more and understand the world around him and the purpose he was made for. He sees how others treat things and begins to see the value of life. I also enjoy seeing him get to interact more with others like Peres. The care they were giving to the injured bird was so sweet.
I always enjoy the interactions between the king and Kirsi. Seeing them grow closer was so sweet. The art is so beautiful and the colors are so bright.
I can't wait to jump into the next one!

The characters in this series are adorable but also very well fleshed out. They feel real despite being from a magical and lush world. The character building and arcs in this volume added so much value to the story. Not to mention the world building which made the world feel even more rich and colorful. I'm very excited to see where this graphic novel takes us next, especially after that cliffhanger of an ending!

After befriending a sentient suit of armor, a fairy-in-hiding working as a lady-in-waiting learns from another fairy the truth about who she really is.

Vibes: Beauty and the Beast. Fern Gully.

I have been a fan of this webtoon for several years now, and the graphic novel did not disappoint. I love the premise of a sentient suit of armor with emotions. Ion this volume, the FMC (our fairy lady) and MMC (the suit of armor) are really getting to know one another on a deeper level. The side love story of her best friend marrying the adorable and lovable king is really the best part of this volume in my opinion. I love their shy romance. I shipped them both right away. There is also another cute couple added to the mix, in the sweetest fashion, between a knight and his squire.
Meanwhile, as the FMC begins to learn the truth of who she is, and what led to the persecution of her fairy people, she learns she doesn’t want to hide anymore. There is suspense, in the best way, on whether she is going to be found out, and who her true allies are…

I love the art style for Suitor Armor and the story so far. The groundwork has been set for an interesting story and it really leads you to wonder how much people actually know and how much is propaganda. I am interested to see how the minor romance subplot continues. Modeus is so cute and its awesome how much emotion can be shown through its one eye considering it is just a helmet. Cozy story with some underlying darker elements that I can't wait to continue to explore.

What a great second volume, this is quickly becoming a new favorite graphic novel series. It is so cute, the artwork is gorgeous and the main characters are so loveable. This volume had a little bit of everything and there were a couple of moments where I squealed with how cute it was. Highly recommend this series if you are wanting a cozy fantasy series.

I received an eARC thanks to Netgalley and Ten Speed Graphic, all opinions are my own

This story is so deep, and the art is so cute in contrast. I love this. I really like that each volume is long as well, I feel like I need even more.

I really loved this second volume. It builds on everything I liked in the first one — the characters, the art, the slow-burn tension — and adds more depth, especially for Lucia and Modeus. There’s a lot more emotional weight this time around, and the story is definitely picking up speed.

Volume 2 builds on the momentum of the first with thoughtful character arcs, rich visual storytelling, and deeper exploration of its magical world. The ending raises the narrative stakes significantly. Can’t wait to see where it goes next.

Highlights:

🧚‍♀️ Lucia’s development from court observer to active magic user is gradual and well-paced.
⚔️ Her relationship with Modeus gains emotional complexity, exploring themes of trust and vulnerability.
🎨 The artwork remains expressive and immersive, capturing both magical action and quieter, emotional moments.
🧙‍♂️ Expanded worldbuilding introduces new layers of fairy lore and political conflict.
👑 Increased court intrigue and ethical dilemmas add weight to the narrative.

Rating: ★★★★½ rounded up to 5★

I really enjoyed returning to this world and seeing these characters grow. The emotional depth, the gorgeous artwork, and the continued exploration of identity and power made this a standout volume.

I love this series so much!! Lucia, a fairy pretending to be a human, is lady in waiting by to the future queen as well as a mage apprentice. Modeus, a creation of the mage supposedly built to kill faeries, has developed a conscience, emotions, and the ability to speak. Prior to this volume he was was assigned to protect Lucia after she was attacked and they have since grown to be friends. Lucia is the only person who views Modeus as a being with autonomy and treats him as a person. A hunting trip has Lucia’s taking bigger steps with her magic and trusting someone with her deepest secret. This book is magical and kind and funny and beautifully illustrated. I can’t rave enough about this series!

Lucia and Modeus's adventures continue in volume two of this beautiful graphic novel.

Lucia and Modeus's relationship continues to grow, the fairy trapped in a human world that hates her and the machine designed to kill her species. As they continue to spend time together, Lucia spends the rest of her time facilitating the relationship between her lady and her groom, learning magic with the court mage that has a crush on her, and discovering more about her kind from the fairy captures in book 1 and the pixie that came with her.

I really enjoyed watching Lucia explore and learn, her wings are absolutely beautiful, as is the art as a whole, and the stakes just keep rising, I am stressed an anxiously awaiting the next volume.

SUITOR ARMOR walks a very careful line between balancing its forbidden romance, high stakes, and intrigue with an undeniable cozy energy. Both the whimsical art style and the writing are so incredibly charming. Romantasy in the purest sense.

Thank you so much to Ten Speed Press for the ARC!

I will start off by staying I didn't realize this was Volume 2.

I felt the story was beautiful and artfully done. I do think I was missing the content to fully enjoy the story for what it is since I missed book 1.

The author has come up with an interesting story line though and I think others will like it
