Jo our main point of view and her family Everett (spouse), Megan, and Asher (kids) welcome Eden a foreign exchange student, to stay with them for a few weeks. Jo is hoping that having an older teen in the house can help start to heal her and Megan's relationship which has gotten so bad over time. As the weeks go on, her already damaged marriage gets even more rocky.

This book was a little slow in the beginning, which I know it needed, to set the scene to play out when it was time for the twists and turns to start appearing. As soon as the first twist hit, I was completely hooked and nothing could tear me away from the book. I thoroughly enjoyed the way Danielle Stewart let this book play out. I caught on to a little of it but not until it was basically the next sentence or paragraph.

She definitely has a new fan in me. I can't wait to read anything else she has.

I really enjoyed Three Little Lies by Danielle Stewart. In the beginning, as Jo receives these ominous letters, I lean toward that as the main storyline/plot. I was curious to see what kind of secret she was keeping from her family and to be honest, I leaned toward something crazy or outrageous. When Everett is described in the book, I just started to feel like there was something off about him before he arrived home. Not necessarily a murderer or anything like that, but the lifestyle and the way Jo talks about him raise a red flag. As the story progresses, I think as parents, we can all tell that she has the best of intentions for her children, even if it may seem overbearing. I was not expecting the ending AT ALL, but I think that is what I enjoyed most about this book. Even with the traumatic events, there is some hope for healing.

I would recommend this book to my friends who enjoy a "who do it" story with some twist. I want to thank NetGalley, Danielle Stewart, and the publisher for the eARC!

Though the first half of this book was very slow, I am glad I finished it.

The story is told in Jo’s POV (the mother of the Hargrove family) and starts with some suspicious threatening mail Jo receives to her house on the regular. We then we dive into the daily routine of Jo raising her rebellious pre-teen, Megan, and her younger boy, Ashton, who struggles with various severe food allergies. Her husband, Everett, travels regularly for work.

The family welcomes a 17-year-old foreign exchange student, Eden, for a 6-week program living under their roof. Upon Eden’s arrival, the dynamics of the family shifts—Megan quickly befriends Eden and is easily influenced by her choices of fashion, media, and lack of rule-following.

Things turn weirder when Everett returns home from his work trip, and Eden’s behavior becomes concerning, but her time with the family ends in only 2 weeks, so they push through the turmoil. That is of course until Eden goes missing one day, and everything changes.

The first half of this book paints the picture of what the daily life of the family is like and how Eden’s arrival changed the dynamics and this part felt a little longer than necessary.

But after the turning point, stakes are high as loyalty, honesty, and personal history are questioned between Jo and Everett. They now have to explain Eden’s disappearance to her mother, Ivy, who has shown up looking for her daughter, and who does not trust anyone in the family.

The story and had some great twists and turns, the ending was a very sweet story about family faults, found family, and unconditional love for a child, but I thought the tie-in to the threatening letters from the beginning was lacking.

Overall, solid 3-star contemporary thriller/mystery.

I love a fast paced twisty psychological thriller and three little lies gave me exactly that. In the story we have our FMC Joe who will do anything to keep her family together and we have her husband who hasn’t really been that upto the mark as a partner. Then we are introduced to a new character who comes into their life and their home and from their everything starts changing, it’s not for better.

Something extremely horrible happens amd Joe’s husband is taken away in handcuffs, from here this book keeps you guessing and had the twist and turns that love. It was a very good time reading this book!

I really enjoyed most of the twists and turns throughout this story. The author does a great job of making you feel the tension and anxiety in every page. There were a few times throughout where the characters behaved in unrealistic ways. Having full conversations that should be private in front of the people where it has the most impact. This wasn't significant enough to impact my overall thoughts on the story though. I enjoyed the dynamic between Meghan and Jo. Seeing the mother teenage daughter situation play out over the pages was an interesting dynamic.
My last con is that I didn't care for the twist involving Jo. It just didn't feel necessary. I can see that it was meant as character development but it felt like one step too far in a story that already had quite a lot going on.

Fun thriller with lots of twists and turns that took me by surprise - which is hard to do, after having read so many of these! The first half of the book is a bit slower, but keep going - the second half pops off and it's worth the read! 4⭐

📱 This was my first book by the author and it kept me hooked till the end. Talking about the characters i couldn’t connect with them. I found the FMC too overprotective. I thought I had this book figured out but the author proved me wrong. I didn’t see any of the twists coming. However I just felt that the “letters” part was unnecessary and it didn’t add much to the story. Overall it was a good read.

Filled with drama and intrigue, 'Three Little Lies' definitively fits into the genre of mystery as it navigates the lives of the Hargrove family. Our main narrator, Jo, gives most of the insight into the plot. She, her husband, daughter and son invite a foreign exchange student, Eden to stay with them for a few weeks. Jo hopes that this will rebuild the bond with her daughter Megan, who has become embroiled in teenage angst. However, nothing goes according to plan - and what follows is bitterness and regret as we see that the best laid plans can go awry when faced with strong adversaries.

What I enjoyed most about the novel is the fact that I was actually very surprised by the plot twist! Almost from the beginning, I knew there was one coming, but I oftentimes find myself disappointed as I can usually figure them out quite easily. In this instance, Danielle Stewart caught me completely off guard!

My biggest grievance here was that I didn't like any of the characters (besides the youngest son, whose role was very minor). I really dislike when this occurs, as I need someone to root for. However, I will mention that Jo did somewhat redeem herself in the last few chapters, but not enough for me to say I liked her.

Ms. Stewart has definitely made a new fan in me and I am quite intrigued to see what else she writes in the future. 4 stars for the overall plot and rhythm of the book!

This was a 3.5 for me but rounded up to 4 stars. There were some parts I wanted to punch Jo in the face for being so uptight and overbearing with her kids. I did not see the end coming and was a good twist. Story was well written but a tad slow in some areas but suppose that's to build the suspense. Over all a good read.

I’m sorry but this book was not for me. Not a high quality thriller and not a high quality written word. Would not recommend, but you can see that from my rating already.

I’m not the biggest fan of an unreliable narrator. And this narrator seemed flighty from the beginning; you can’t even trust her own internal monologues because the way she views herself and the world just are not consistent.
We go so quickly from ‘I don’t want anyone to know what I’ve done in the past and how terrible I am’ to ‘whatever they ask, I can answer; my conscious is clear.’ Not consistent.
After finishing the book, I can attest that the unreliable narrator was not part of the FMC’s personality; maybe it was written to confuse the reader?

All the characters kinda sucked and it just wasn’t a good thriller

Jo is asked to take on Eden, a foreign exchange student for 6 weeks. Looking to fix her relationship with her 12 year old daughter, she thinks it will be a great idea for them to reconnect. She will soon be re thinking her decision as many family secrets are revealed including her own when Eden mysteriously vanishes.
This was a fun and fast book to read. With short chapters it was easy to follow and got to the point. I think the author did a great job at setting up the story at the start of the book and that all the twists were worked in well. I enjoyed spending my weekend reading this and i’m sure others would feel the same.

This was (in my opinion) the cookie-cutter definition of a thriller - it was fun. The twists and turns didn't wow me and I wasn't walking away from this with my jaw on the floor but it still was a quick, bingeable good time!

Really enjoyed this one! When Jo is asked to take on a high school foreign exchange student for six weeks, she decides that it might help her connect with her 12 year old daughter Megan. However when Eden shows up, there is a strange vibe between Jo’s husband and Eden. When Eden goes missing, Jo has to decide who she trusts. A page turner for sure! When Jo agress to house exchange student Eden from England she thought it would do her family good,and to a point it did until the end when we realize not everyone is who they seem. Three little lies was a fast paced read, in the beginning we only read jos POV and we quickly start to ask ourselves why is she getting death threats and what did she do? The second half of the story is now told on dual POVS Eden and Jo’s. The. Second half was definitely more intriguing as the story line was starting to unravel and come together. The plot twist didn’t leave me speechless or wanting more but in all this read was fun, fast and unputdownable and a quick thrill read.

Three Little Lies is nothing short of outstanding. This gripping thriller will linger in my mind long after turning the final page. What a story, what a journey—brimming with psychological depth, intricate character development, and an ever-mounting sense of tension that completely immerses the reader.

The brilliance of this novel lies in its complexity. The way the story starts to unfold through Jo’s perspective is masterful, pulling you deeper into an unraveling mystery that grips you with an almost palpable sense of anxiety, and then we learn from other perspectives. The suspense is relentless, keeping you on edge with every revelation. Just when you think you have it figured out, the story takes another unexpected turn, proving itself to be one of the most compelling thrillers I have read in recent years.

Beyond its thrilling plot, Three Little Lies also delivers a poignant message about family, secrets, and the intricate, sometimes painful, ties that bind us. It’s a novel that doesn’t just entertain—it makes you reflect. This is precisely why it will stay with me long after reading.

If you’re a fan of thought-provoking, expertly woven thrillers that keep you guessing until the very end, this book is an absolute must-read. I cannot recommend it enough!

Great story with twists and turns that I did not see coming. The story follows Jo, a bit of an overbearing mama bear that agrees to host a foreign exchange student in her family home for 6 weeks. When Eden arrives, there’s a few bumps on the road but overall a decent experience. When a sudden disappearance turns their world upside down, everyone is questioned and this twisty story is a true rollercoaster ride before the shocking truth is revealed. I am interested in more from this author, I think The Teacher will be up next! If you enjoy suspense with a touch of family drama, this book is for you.
