I thought Lore of the Wilds was just okay, it had one of the most promising openings but fell flat as the story went on.
Unfortunately, Lore of the Tides started off just as flat for me, and the dialogue felt so immature that I struggled to stay engaged.
I may come back and finish this series someday, but for now, I’m just not enjoying it enough to continue.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Harper Voyager for the opportunity to read this early edition.

In Lore of the Tides, Lore thought that she was finally figuring things out. She was beginning to get a handle on her newfound powers. She thought she knew what her enemies wanted and who she could trust. It turned out that she was wrong about the last one and the rug has been torn out from under her.
Just when a better life for her people seemed within reach, she’s ripped even further away from them. This time, she finds herself captive on a ship already far out to sea and still sailing onward. She is parted from the book that started it all, and told it has a sister volume. Lore must track down the second book using her new powers, or else. After all, she’s not the only one they’re holding captive.
I tore through this second installment of the duology even faster than the first. Its page count is notably longer, but I felt like I breezed through so much more quickly. To my great relief, the cliffhanger from the last book is clarified in a satisfying way. This one is also divided into three sections, but since it is a longer work and the sections are designated at titled parts, it felt much more clean and intentional.
On the other hand, there was so much condensed plot in all three parts that each could have become its own novel. It read much like three novellas bound into one edition. That likely contributed to how quickly the book seemed to fly by. It also cemented this duology more firmly in the New Adult genre in my mind. A resulting effect of the speed was that several of the major challenges Lore faced came across as “too easy” for the Adult space. A longer work would have provided more room for additional complications, but would have also aged up the voice of the narrative. However, there is also a ramp up in spice level from the last book that I would argue takes it out of the Young Adult space.
As it stands, the character voice remained extremely engaging. Lore’s emotional response to having been betrayed is deeply layered, complex, and at times even self-conflicting. It’s realistic. It is achingly relatable to anyone who has experienced a similar breach in trust. Watching it fuel her character arc is very gratifying. It seeps into all of her relationships, whether they be romantic, familial, or platonic. Her emotions become truly visceral in her most intense moments.
Once again, the portrayals of magical beings drew me in. The fae still fascinate, and this installment adds sirens to this world as well. They have an equally unique portrayal while also remaining recognizable from mythology. It’s clear that Sbrana designed a very full and robust world for Lore. While her story may have come to an end with this duology’s completion, I would be very curious to see whether there will be future books in this same setting.

This sequel was so well done. I was iffy on Lore in Wilds both times I read it, but with this one I really grew to fw her so heavily. Not me rooting for Sylorinn/Floryelle (yes I made that up) 😂🫣 Lore’s disdain for Syrelle had me dead because her snarky remarks were perfect, but I won’t lie, my favorite scenes were the spicy scenes! I swear a good tease and praise kink does it for me everytime! The scene where Lore confronts with Syrelle’s uncle reminded me of Breaking Dawn’s scene with Alice and Arro but the King was in control of the visions. I was so mad but happy when I realized that it wasn’t real. Best believe I’ll be reading again when my Libby hold comes through!!

Absolutely loved this atmospheric and romantic sequel and conclusion to this duology! I enjoyed how cozy Lore of the Wilds was with the twists of drama that it brought and this book took the drama to the next level. I wasn't expecting how much wider the world got and the way the heat turned up in her relationship(s). I wish there was more than just two books but I can't wait to see what Analeigh does next.

This was such a beautiful ending to such a unique duology! I have to say, I’m usually not one to gravitate towards books with fae because of how saturated the market is, but I am so so so glad I decided to pick this book up!
The way that the author leads us through the story makes the experience absolutely unforgettable. My favorite part of the writing was the detail of the setting and how immersive the entire story felt.
I love how strong our FMC is and I am quite satisfied that we got a complete and conclusive ending in this book. I would absolutely love to read more of this author’s writing!

Black fae romantasy. Fast paced with dark twisting plot & higher stakes. Book 2 in the Lore of the Wilds duology.
This book swept me away early on. Book 1 ends on a cliffhanger and book 2 immediately picks up where book 1 ends. In this book we get to see more magic and more adventure. It was an enthralling and epic story. I could not put this one down once I started it. & the spice is 🔥🥵 the banter between Lore and the MMC really created a more organic chemistry and connection between them. I really enjoyed seeing more sea monsters & sirens in this one.
Tropes: enemies to lovers, morally grey MMC, love triangle, feminine rage, & found family
BIPOC author/black representation
TW: vi0lence & explicit smex content

Book two in Lore of the Wilds Series.
The feminine rage is raging! And we love it:)
I loved the progression from book one. We got to see more of the characters we love (and some we hate) and were introduced to new characters that make a place in your heart!
Sick and tired of the rule of the king Lore makes it her mission to change the lives of her people for the better. She just has to find the Grimoires and hone her magic to be able to take down the king. With the help of her friends along the way she gets closer to her goals.
We start off on a ship with Lore, who is imprisoned, trying to figure a way out of this mess. The whole book was back to back action and adventure. There was not a lot of down time and when there was it was immediately interrupted, which I hated for Lore and her companions (but loved for me!). They do not get a break in this book!
Love the love! There is a love triangle and some heartbreak. (A little bit of spice!!) We have a deep love for friends and family and found family. She had a lot of people on her side and I love that.
Lore is Determined and ready to get justice for her people!
Definitely had fun reading this. My emotions were all over the place and I’m still recovering.

Just finished the second book in Lore of the Wilds Duology, and it was a captivating mix of magic, betrayal, and high stakes adventure. Lore wakes up imprisoned on a ship, betrayed by someone she trusted, and forced to use her powers to locate a powerful grimoire. Along the way, she encounters distrustful allies, dangerous Fae politics, and sirens who pull her into their own desperate struggle. The world-building expands beautifully, from deep ocean magic to griffin-guarded ruins, and the tension never lets up.
Lore’s growth in this book is one of its strongest points. She steps into a leadership role while grappling with impossible choices and heartbreak. Her bond with a certain Fae male adds emotional depth, while the final confrontation with the king brings everything to a dramatic, gut wrenching climax. If you enjoy immersive fantasy with layered characters, mythic creatures, and a heroine worth rooting for, this sequel won’t disappoint.

🙏🏾Thanks to NetGalley, Avon and Harper Voyager| Harper Voyager, and Analeigh Sbrana for this ARC! I voluntarily give my honest review, and all opinions are my own.

Lore of the Tides” by Analeigh Sbrana was that girl of sequels. It picked up right where book 1 left us screaming at the cliffhanger, then threw us into new high stakes that had my heart racing. Humans and Fae and Sirens and Orc, oh my – this world is rich and addictive.
Finndryl? Babyyy, that man said “I hate everyone but you” and my soul LEFT my body. If Lore don’t choose him, she’s straight up foolish.
I lowkey wish it turned into a “why choose” situation because… options 👀 but either way, 5 stars across the board for this one. The ending left me grinning like a fool.
This is a review of the audiobook.

This was a 3.5-star round up to 4 stars.
The story is an adventurous tale about saving the ones you love with themes of found family, mystical beings, and a magic system that was difficult to follow but enjoyed the different take on magic systems. The love triangle added some tension, and I was definitely invested in who Lore was going to choose. However, while the book is marketed as an adult romantasy, it read more like a young adult novel. There are a few explicit scenes that felt awkward reading.
thank you netgalley and Harper Voyager for my ebook arc!

Lore of the Tides by @analeighsbrana just released this week and it's the sequel to Lore of the Wilds. Let me start by saying I enjoyed this so much more than the first. Don't get me wrong, the first book was enjoyable and a good start for Lore's story. This sequel though really went all out with the magic, the emotions, the trials, and more. You can see Sbrana's growth as a writer which is so fun. Lore is a human with magic which is unheard of and she's dealing with fae far more powerful than she is. However, she has an ancient grimoire that is connected to her and she's on the search for the grimoire's sister which would give her more power. Enough power to compete with fae. Without spoilers, she faces a betrayal that's pivotal to the story and her emotions. There are some dark points and dark magic that I really enjoyed - especially towards the end. The story is focused on Lore and her search for the second grimoire with Finn and Syrelle playing important roles. It's basically one big adventure that starts on the high seas, takes you to underwater kingdoms, up across mountains and through caves, and more. Finn is goals - perfect book boyfriend material. There are introductions to new side characters that enhance the story too. I will say that I'm not a big fan of love triangles and it put me off the first book. It drags a bit in the second as well. There is also a huge build up to a particular scene which ended up being anticlimactic. However, the duology wrapped up nicely even if it seemed to end quickly as I was really into it. There are sirens, orcs, griffins, and more! I loved the inclusion of different creatures. The world building here was so fun and interesting.

This book was so fun and I wish we had more duologies! This book didn’t feel rushed or forced or incomplete and was well done with none of the side plots feeling rushed. The pining and tension and slow burn with the MCs was great and left a lot of room for valid blame to be given. The love triangle!! Fun. The underwater storyline was so creative and fun.
As with most YA - the challenges they faced seemed a little too easy, resolving with one attempt. Things just always work out in YA Books and that’s ok.

I have been waiting to continue this journey with the way the first one ended.
I loved the new characters and new kingdom we got to explore. The action continued and it was done perfectly! Getting to continue with Lore exploring and growing was written so well. The ending was wrapped up the way a duology should and I loved it!
I recommend this if you are looking for adventure, magic, and a bit of a cozy feel.

Lore of the Tides was more adventurous than the previous book. I was excited to see Lore travel to new places after being so confined previously. The HEA was great because everyone got one! I'm also all for a morally grey female character who is willing to do whatever it takes to help the people she loves and those who need it.

I truly did love the story for this duology and felt the ending really closed off the story nicely. However I felt this book almost could’ve been two books. Literally so much happened in the book, I felt like something action filled was always happening and there was never a let down a little bit and then the ending felt like it was over as soon as it happened. Overall I loved the story and how it ended. Lore there was no need to keep everything a secret you could’ve share some of your plans with Finn.

This is the second and last book in the Lore of the Wilds duology. The story picks up where we left off, Lore, wakes up on a ship, locked inside a room. Asher/Syrelle, who has just betrayed her, is hoping that her connection to the grimoire will help him find the second one. His dream is that they both control a grimoire and rule the world together. Lore, obviously hurt from his betrayal, is doing everything possible to not help him. She wants to unite both the moon and sun grimoires so she can achieve her goal of freeing her people of Duskmere from the tyranny of the fae.
I think I liked the first book better - not to say that this was bad, but it just felt as if too much was going on. Especially when the characters got to the part with the sirens, it felt like there were so many characters. For as much adventure going on, it all seemed pretty easy for Lore to accomplish things. I think there definitely needed to be some death in here to make it more high stakes and thrilling. This read like a young adult book, so when I read the first one, I was shocked that there was smut, then learned it was a romantasy book. The smut in the first book was written better than the scenes in the second book. Finn said Good girl a few too many times for my liking.

This may honestly be the first time I’ve wished for MORE books in a series instead of less. I absolutely adored the first book and this one picks up right where we left off, with Asher’s confession and the unraveling mystery. The story follows Lore and the boys as they traverse Oceans, deserts, and mountains to find the sister book of the grimoire to defeat to evil king.
The only thing I can say is, I wanted more! More story, more details, and more from the final confrontation. 90% of this story was spot on, I was invested and I felt like the pacing was perfect. The last 10% though, everything happens, the fall was so good and it could have ended there with the final battle and aftermath for book three. What we got, however, was a rushed finial battle, an unsatisfying ending to our love triangle and an ending that if you blinked you’d miss it.
I did listen to the audiobook and the narrator is a 10 out of 10, a 5 out of 5 She is really really good. Also, I have behind a physical copy of this book because they are gorgeous!
Overall, I’d say it’s worth the read to finish up the story and to see the conclusion to Lore’s journey but if you were on the fence, I’m sad to say that you could probably skip it.

This was not as much of a hit for me as book one was unfortunately 😕
I did really love when they were in the underwater city- even if it felt totally off from the rest of the story…

Lore of the Tides is a sweeping, enchanting sequel to one of my favorite reads last year, Lore of the Wilds. Lore of the Tides picks up where Lore of the Wilds ends-one of the most cutting cliff hangers I've had to endure over the past year, it was such a relief to get the other end of the story! Lore of the Tides expands on the whimsical world that Sbrana has created, complete with another magical tome, a sea voyage, and best of all..sirens. With more characters to be charmed by and a twisting love triangle, the conclusion of the Lore of the Wilds duology was a pleasant finale to the series. I'm so excited to read whatever Sbrana has brewing next!
The prose in Lore of the Tides is an ethereal, beautiful thing-a warm little hug that I always love to return to, I love Sbrana's writing. Lore Alemeyu is one of my favorite FMC's and Finn? Yes please.
Anyhow, this was one of the most anticipated sequels in my cache this year--I loved it!
