Talk about fun! This book is clever, fast-paced, and full of that zippy humor and mythological mischief I love in a middle-grade adventure. Charlotte and Zee make such a great duo, and the way the story weaves everyday life with big, mythic stakes reminded me of what made me fall in love with fantasy as a kid. It’s got danger, laughs, and a whole lot of heart—definitely a new favorite.

I very rarely say this, I did not like this book. In fact I couldn't even finish it. I wanted to read this book because I heard so many people compare it to the Percy Jackson series and other than the book being about Greek gods in the modern day I do not see what these two have in common with each other. I would not recommend this to people who are looking for series similar to Percy Jackson. Hades as a couch potato who doesn't want to do anything, it read as more poking fun at greek mythology which I found insulting. The story also had a really slow start which didn't help.

Charlotte Mielswetski is the character I wish I’d had when I was young. Being a redhead is part of who she is and she is small and white skinned and most people think she is standoffish. Yes, I completely understand all this and I love her. Luckily Charlotte has a nice cousin (Zee) who comes to live with her but also brings a mysterious sickness with him. She also has an amazing cat with a great name. Charlotte and Zee set off on an adventure to the Underworld to save all the children. A very satisfying book.
