I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a cute-fun middle grade novel. It's the kind of middle-grade fiction that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults, so it would make a great book to read aloud as a family!

Another adorable tween rom-com from Lee Heart! I think this might be my favorite of hers so far. The plot is fun and engaging, and while there’s a sweet romance, it really centers on the main character’s personal growth. It’s a thoughtful look at how change can be tough—but also how we grow through it. A great pick for tweens navigating new chapters!

Written in the Stars is a short story (less than 100 pages) that I would feel completely comfortable letting my 7 or 9 year old read. Quinn is headed to spend the summer at her favorite place–Whispering Woods Camp. She can’t wait to get back to her friends and the routine she is familiar with, especially since everything at home has been different since her father passed away. At camp some things have stayed the same, but some things have changed and she has to figure out how to cope.

I felt that Quinn’s friendships (and frenemy-ships) were great. I think it was short enough that it would keep my reluctant reader happy, and the right maturity level for my more eager reader. The ending was great for the age; I only wish I would have known what was going on with Kayla.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! Look for this to be published May 6, 2025.

This was so sweet! I LOVED Quinn so much! There was grief, pain, and sadness at the loss of her father, but the most amazing thing is how she showed that you can chose whether or not to be drowned in grief. One of my favorite parts was the romance, not because of the two main characters (though they were both pretty awesome), I loved how this was so different from a 'normal' romance book because it was realistic and exactly what kids need to hear. There were just so many layers to it all and it was written so well. I just wish it was a little longer, but other then that, it was an amazing book. Highly recommend.

Written in the Stars is a middle grade novel about something we all love, a camp adventure! It's a cute read, I know it says middle grade, but young adults like myself can also enjoy it. The story follows the female main characters journey as she explores what is like to have a crush, building bonds and friendship, and other topics like self discovery and not giving up even if things don't turn out as you expect. I appreciated how the story developed in a organic way and how the characters growth gave the story volume. Its a nice quick read.

Written in the Stars is a sweet and meaningful middle grade story that really stuck with me. Set at a summer camp, it explores friendship, self-discovery, and what it means to keep going even when things feel hard.

I loved how real the characters felt - especially the main character, who doesn’t always have it all figured out but keeps trying anyway. Her journey felt honest and hopeful, and I think a lot of readers will connect with that. The camp setting was also a fun and comforting backdrop for all the growth and bonding that happened.

This is a great read for middle schoolers. It’s thoughtful, heartfelt, and a perfect pick for readers who enjoy stories about friendship, resilience, and finding where you belong.

A fun read about summer camp and all the typical things that can happen. Quinn sees a cute boy, Harry, who has a British accent on the first day and then they kayak together one day. She wonders if he likes her like she thinks might like him. Kayla, a new camper, also seems to like him. Quinn wonders is it a big deal to have a boyfriend. Does anything end up happening between Quinn and Harry?

This was a cute story about friendships and summer camp. I loved the group or characters and how they were all very different with their own struggles. This is very relatable for the age group who is trying to navigate making new friends, navigating different friendships and crushes. I loved all of the traditional camp experiences included! The grief topic was a bit heavy, but ultimately the message was important!
