Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for the ARC.
The "Fall In Love, You False Angels" manga vol.1 by Coco Uzuki is a cute story about Otogi and Toki. They are the role models of their school and based on their looks and immaculate behaviour they are nicknamed as angels. However, the fun begins when they let their guard down and start actually being friends instead of maintaining appearances.
Even though it is a very light read at some point it also brings up topics of Sexual harassment, Sexual assault, Pedophilia from peers and teachers to students.
I like the art style, the story is cute and fun.
This manga is for readers who want a cute quick manga volume about appearances and what happens when the right person gets to know you for who you are.

The ending was odd, the story felt as if there was no clear "plot". As if it was an empty story where nothing happened.
I'm glad I read it and finished it because it made me appreciate the manga style.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC copy of this manga.
Let me start by saying that I thoroughly enjoyed this manga, the premise is fun, the characters are likeable, the art style is cute and fresh and the protagonists design is really appealing.
On a surface level, this greatly reminds me of Karekano; Otogi's inner monologue is hilarious when her narcissistic side comes out and Ikkoku's twisted personality with sunshine moments is really fun to see.
So, while this manga has really strong points, I must say plot isn't one of them. After the characters are presented I just couldn't see where the story was going, we just saw cute moment after cute moment, but I suppose being the first volume this point isn't that relevant yet.
All in all this was a light, fun read and I'm looking forward to reading the next volume.

This was so cute!! I've read some of Coco Uzuki's other work and I am obsessed with her stories and art style. The cover pulled me in right away!
This did not disappoint!! It had vibes of Horimiya, especially with gap personalities (which I ADORE as a trope) and the two main characters play off each other so well!!
I can't wait to read more chapters, thank you so much for the ARC opportunity!!

A really solid start to a promisingly wonderful story. I am really a big fan of shojo, so I am hoping for big things from Coco Uzuki!

Thank you so much for letting me read this manga. I liked the story but the main character was a little too self centered for my taste.

YES
Give me 1,000 more exactly like this. It gave me all the happy shojo feelings I was looking for. I love the characters and can't wait to see what else is going to happen. And we have a glasses character (I love glasses characters)
Thank you Kodansha for this ARC!

This was a solid first volume with an intriguing premise. I really enjoyed the beautiful and elegant art style, and the way the characters were drawn made them almost too pretty to handle! The story concept—maintaining a perfect public image while having a totally different, more badass private persona that only one person knows about—was fun, even if not entirely new.
One of my favorite aspects was that both the FMC and MMC are on equal footing in terms of popularity, beauty, intelligence, and wit—a refreshing dynamic that added depth to their relationship. However, the romance felt a bit rushed at times, and there were moments when it fell a little flat for me. That said, it was still an enjoyable read, and I’m looking forward to seeing where the next volume takes the story.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Being a fan of manga series like "Horimiya" where the two leads have a hidden side they only show to each other after a coincidental circumstance, "Fall in Love, You False Angels" also brings me joy in that regard. It also stands on its own with a beautiful art style and moments that make your heart skip a beat with how cute they are! The dynamic beween the two leads is one I absolutely love and I can't wait to read the next volume for sure.

I enjoyed this manga, however it felt a little dull to me at times and the characters a little too played up for my personal tastes. The art style is gorgeous and I absolutely loved the way the characters looked. And despite some of the issues I may have had, I'd definitely be interested in reading more.

Great artwork and character design but the romance came on a little too fast. I also feel like Otogi 's "unexpected side" isn't a huge difference from her "angel" side.

I think this is a cute concept for a storyline. I am enjoying the different "versions" of the characters - and the art is stunning. Very curious to see where the series goes from here!

This is such a cute volume to start a series with, the shoujo scene keeps popping out fresh titles with gorgeous art and i think this one has a lot of potential. The dynamic between our two main characters is really fun and you can tell it will only get more interesting.
It also speaks volumes that this series doesn't have many volumes out yet but an anime has already been announced. It's one win after the other for a shoujo manga truther.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for the ARC.
Very cute first volume! As someone who's read KareKano (His and Her Circumstances) back in the day the concept of seemingly perfect individuals having a different side to them outside of school is not new, but I did find it fun that they're both tough cookies. Coco Uzuki's art is very clean and pretty to look at, and I look forward to see what other ways the main couple will get to know each other (the coffee shop chapter was very sweet).

Katsuba and Ninomae are the president and vice president of their class, two of the most popular people at school known for their beauty and kindness. But things change when they reveal their true selves to each other...
Ok, so this was cute, I did have fun reading it, but something was just missing. I don't know if this is a thing with mangas in general or what it really is, but something that I wanted was not there. I also can't really pinpoint what it is.
I do believe that the plot moves really fast, and it just feels a bit awkward when suddenly the main character declares that she is in love with the male lead. There were also some cringe moments but those I can overlook for the most part.
One thing I absolutely loved tho.. THE ARTSTYLE!! SO GORGEOUS!

Such a cute and beautifully illustrated story! I’m a sucker for stories in which everything is not as it seems and this delivered fully on that premise! Can’t wait to see how this story unfolds in further volumes.

This new series is a lot of fun! The story is cute, funny, and the art style is fabulous. I love that both main characters have a secret side that they hide at school, but that secret side does not seem to be a bad thing. So far, they are using their secret sides to stand up for what is right. One thing that does bother me is that the main female character is overly narcissistic and I'm hoping that tones down over time. I am looking forward to reading more from this series and will be recommending it as a fun new shojo series for students. Especially if they are fans of Horimiya.

Contrary to a lot of reviews I see for this volume, it was, to me, the perfect introduction to this series!
I've been reading the Japanese version for a while before this was even announced as a license by Kodansha so I already loved it prior to the English volume coming out.
Coco Uzuki's art is always a delight to look at and I love how they crafted the perfect designs for this pair of main characters. The female lead is beautiful, refined and delicate looking with a strong side to her, and when she pulls a serious face she looks so cool! The male lead is equally as graceful, with long hair framing his face and an angelic aura to him, except tucking his hair behind his ear will be enough to reveal his cool side with an undercut and piercing holes.
I seriously love how they both play this role of perfect people, filling in for everyone's expectations for them, and enjoying doing so, while also having an opposite and charismatic personality on the other side.
I've seen a lot of people say this volume was lacking or that they didn't understand where the story was leading or that they thought it was too cliche, but I personally think this is a really great and fun first volume of a shoujo romance. You have the typical trope of "there's a beautiful boy, girl falls in love first", etc etc. Except you add a girl who's on equal footing with said beautiful boy, which isn't all that common, and you also add a twist that they both have this "secret" identity that only the other knows about. Isn't that fun??
I genuinely had a lot of fun reading this and think it's a great start of a series. Showing their bickering and how they get along in their own way, the art is gorgeous and I love the comedic tone to it too! I can't wait for more to be translated!

I absolutely loved this!! I had my doubts in the beginning but I was soon interested and captured by the beautiful artwork and characters!
This volume was interesting. We have not one, but two main characters who have a hidden personality that starkly contrasts their perfect school image. Both characters are also good looking, intelligent and so far, haven’t done anything illegal. And that’s exactly why I liked it. It’s refreshing to read a story where there isn’t any insecurity to how one looks or how unpopular they are, as well as not being an antagonist or jealous character. It’s simply a romance with two outstanding people who have a hidden personality.
The story started a bit confusing but was reminiscent of a show or movie opening with an intriguing line to capture the audience. The story follows Otogi and primarily highlights her interactions with Toki. I liked how it balanced their school life while building each character’s private life and personality. We learn a lot about the characters in one volume. It’s quite fast paced and includes some important topics that were handled with care. That said, the story has a lyrical feel to it with regards to its execution.
The interaction between Otogi and Toki had me smiling! I feel like they both have feelings for each other, especially with how they notice small things about each other. My favorite was when Toki realized Otogi was unwell and helped her to the nurse’s office. I’m hoping there’s no second male lead or unnecessary misunderstandings because I enjoy their dynamics.
The artwork is amazing. I love it! It’s captivating with its beautifully drawn characters, including side characters, clear expressions and simple backgrounds that highlight the foreground. I won’t lie, long hair male characters are my weakness. So, yes I loved Toki’s character design but I also loved Otogi’s character design. I couldn’t get enough of how beautiful they were. Also, I didn’t think a manga with many blank or white spaced backgrounds would be so good. It really proves that if the story and character expressions are done well, then supporting backgrounds are not needed.
Overall, I loved this volume and I’m looking forward to reading the next volume. So far, there isn’t any unnecessary drama and it’s a clear cute romance buildup. I love its simplicity and I’m looking forward to seeing how Otoko and Toki’s relationship changes and if or when their hidden personalities will be revealed.

Are we who we are when no one is watching? If so, is the person we display to the world an alternate version of us or a fake persona? When we meet those who let us take the masks down, are we finally allowing ourselves to be seen?
Fall In Love, You False Angels by Coco Uzuki explores the relationship between two students who are perfect to their peers. But underneath the surface, they are both hiding personalities that completely contradict their public perception.
For the older anime fans in the room, we would have all made the His and Her Circumstances comparisons on our own without the synopsis needing to do it for us. How could we all forget the charming dynamic between Yukino and Arima? Perfect students who led completely different lives at home. Fall In Love, You False Angels differs in the both the leads “real selves” are bad asses, akin almost to the delinquent type (minus the crimes.)
Enter Otogi. She is known as the school’s “heartthrob angel.” Everyone is in love with her. She’s beautiful and sweet. She’s the class president and perfect. On the inside, Otogi is crushing hard on her vice president, Toki. She tries to maintain her cool around him so as to not let on that he’s driving her crazy.
Toki is seemingly her exact counterpart. He’s soft-spoken and charming, with all the girls swooning over him. He seems to know exactly what to do to handle conflicts as the vice president and has a commanding presence.
One day, while getting hit on, Otogi lets her mouth loose and reveals in front of Toki that she’s not just an angel. She’s a strong and outspoken girl who isn’t afraid to tell someone off. Because of this, Toki feels at ease enough to reveal that he also isn’t the perfect image he portrays and has a dark side. “Dark Ikkoku” is what Otogi has nicknamed him in her mind.
From this moment, the two start hanging out outside of school, with Toki inviting Otogi to get to know him better. As she learns more about Toki, Otogi struggles to keep her composure and not let Toki in on the fact that she’s falling hard.
On the surface, Fall In Love, You False Angels may feel a bit like “we’ve seen this already.” Once I started reading it, I realized how wrong I was. Usually, the “perfect” girl is a slob behind the scenes. Whereas Otogi is just a bad ass who doesn’t take anyone’s bs. And then Toki on the other hand, seems to be just a cool guy, unbothered about things.
As soon as I finished volume one, I wanted volume two immediately. The developing friendship between Toki and Otogi is cute, and how hard she is working to keep her feelings under wraps is hilarious. I love that Toki has already introduced her to someone important to him and revealed a lot about himself in a small amount of time. He reminds me so much of Itsumi from A Sign of Affection, so of course, I am in heaven.
The story so far is so promising. I can’t wait for it to dive deeper into the two “real” personalities of Otogi and Toki, and hopefully uncover why they have the angel personas. There is so much that can be done here, and I look forward to seeing where it goes.
