Room Mating by Meredith Schorr is a cute and funny romance about living together, falling in love, and figuring out life along the way.
Sabrina is working hard in grad school while living with Marcia, her sweet but nosy elderly roommate. Things get complicated when Marcia’s grandson, Adam, moves in—and suddenly, the apartment feels way too small. Sparks fly, arguments happen, and their late-night run-ins make things interesting. But when Marcia’s health takes a turn, Adam and Sabrina have to decide who stays and who goes.
What I liked:
✨ The playful, funny conversations between Adam and Sabrina.
✨ Marcia is the best—kind, hilarious, and the glue holding everything together.
✨ The story has just enough drama to keep things exciting but stays light and fun.
If you love stories about roommates, fun banter, and romance that feels real, Room Mating is a great pick!
Thank you Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for the ARC! I truly appreciate the opportunity to read the book and provide my honest feedback.

Super cute & cozy read!
This is a perfect summer day reading in the park book. It's a wonderful, cozy, feel-good escape that's also a cute romance. It's heartwarming and funny. I had a great time immersing myself in this world.
The characters are a hoot but also realistic. This felt like an ode to sweet natured people if you will. I enjoyed the elderly roommate plot and thought it was unique for a romcom.
The romance was delightful. Full of chemistry, bookish, swoony and steamy. What more could you ask for?
The pacing was well done and the setting was so good. I loved he libraries and being able to sight see in Manhattan.
A well-rounded, delightfully charming romcom!

I love the forced proximity trope, and Roommating was such a fun take on it! Funny, tender, and sexy, it was a quick, cozy read. Thanks, NetGalley, for the advance copy!

this book fell a little flat for me....... the characters seemed very one note and couldn't seem to get excited for the relationship. I didn't feel that they had chemistry it felt forced.

A lot of steamy sex and some foul language. Not what I expected from this author whose previous books have been "clean/cozy".. It is a good story and more in line with modern ideas.
Apartment owner Marcia Haber, 72, has leased out her 2nd bedroom to 24 yr old Sabrina. In exchange for a lower rent, Sabrina will help with chores. Sabrina is happy with the arrangement. All is well until Marcia's grandson Adam asks Marcia if he can stay on her couch while he settles in to attend a NYC summer MBA program. Sabrina is concerned when a few weeks seems to stretch longer and her attraction to Adam, and Adam's to Sabrina, becomes a problem..
The situations were fun and lighthearted.

This book was such a cozy read. FLIRTY ROMANCE! Sabrina and Adam were pure entertainment with the love and heartless competition. Adam constantly teasing and messing with Sabrina was one of my favorite things in this book😂💕 This book had its signature charm for all my book lovers.

Overall, I really enjoyed this! I loved Sabrina and Marcia's relationship. They almost made me want to move in with an older lady!
Sabrina and Adam also really had excellent chemistry and Adam was on his way to being a top book boyfriend. I was really turned off by his casual expectation that Sabrina should move out so he could live with his Grandma. Honestly, the whole competition for who could be the best roommate made me mad - maybe you should ask the person you'd be living with what SHE'D prefer?! I'm glad Marcia put them in her place.
This really made me miss my grandma.

A beautiful romance with many touches that the bibliophiles can relate to. The fact that not only the female main character, but also the main male character read books already made them very likable. The found family with the elder roommate who also read felt so special. Not only was this romance heartfelt but also hilarious. Towards the end, we learned that the main male character would really do anything in his power to make the main female character happy, a true love story, and one I can root for!

This was cute but not my favorite read. I didn't care for Sabrina and honestly couldn't stand Adam. He came across as whiny and entitled to Marcia and never took how Marcia felt about Sabrina into consideration. I understand living with regrets for years of not having contact with a loved one, but was cold and inconsiderate about both Marcia and Sabrina's feelings. I tried really hard to get into it, but as someone who's been with an entitled man, I just couldn't for the life of me figure out why this hard working and determined woman was willing to lower her standards for this bully of a man just because he was good looking. I think the author is very talented and wish this hadn't been the first book I'd read by her, so I'll definitely be checking out her other books, but this was a pass for me.

This was a cute and bookish romance, along with amazing roommates(a cute dog, a grandma, and the love interest). I really liked the library jobs involved in this story too. I hope I get such good roommates one day.

I thought the blurb for this book sounded interesting but after reading a few chapters I could already tell it wasn't for me. I can't handle all the pronoun stuff that's being pushed and I anticipated what was going to happen so this was a DNF for me. I don't like to write low star reviews, but unfortunately for me, this one warrants it. Nevertheless, thank you NetGalley for the opportunity.

In Room Mating forced proximity between two book lovers with a little jealousy thrown in leads to a lot of sparks. Sabrina is a library aide who’s too busy trying to earn her masters in library science while staying self sufficient to worry about dating. She lives with an older women Marcia who gives her a break in rent as long as she helps her out with any technology crisis that occurs. The arrangement suits perfectly until Marcia has her grandson move in while he figures out his life. Adam is a fellow book lover who has finished college but still doesn’t know what to do with his life. He’s also Sabrina’s age and a super hottie, you get the sense that the air must sizzle between these two anytime they are in the same room.
I wasn’t sure if this was a 3 1/2 star read or a 4- and that’s because I questioned some of the plot points when it came to Marcia and her son’s issues. I can buy Marcia being an unreliable narrator when it comes to describing what happened there but otherwise there’s no way she didn’t know that what she did wouldn’t cause issues. She kind of sprung a huge life change on him and seemed surprised that he reacted badly to it. Also this book was much spicer than I usually like to read - I prefer closed door romances but I will say that the relationship was actually built and developed before anything happens so I do appreciate that. So I have gone with a 4 star rating. I was given a copy of this book through NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This was cute! I did feel like it took a long time for the romance to happen. Also, there was not really any spice in this book. I did find myself wanting that. But other than that I did not think this book was bad.

I thought it was a cute story but not really for me, but that was just me. I thought the story was cute and the slow burn was slow. I don't really know how I felt about the characters I had a hard time connecting with them but at the same time I didn't dislike them.

I love a good forced proximity trope! Especially of the roommate variety. Sabrina and Adam's relationship starts off by Adam moving in with his grandma who happens to be Sabrina's roommate. I enjoyed how Sabrina and Adam's relationship unfolded, but didn't always love the choices Adam made or Sabrina's reactions to those choices. Overall a cute, lighthearted romance. Bonus points for all the librarian representation!

I loved everything about this novel! It was beautiful, touching, frustrating (in a good way), and brought tears to my eyes at the end.
And I absolutely loved that there was Jewish characters 🥰

This was a super cute fun read. Sabrina lives in NYC working as a library page and going to school for her masters in library science. Her roommate Marcia is a seventy something bisexual woman who is like a surrogate grandmother to Sabrina. Sabrina helps Marcia around the apartment and with technology and in return Sabrina gets a great rate on rent. Marcia’s estranged grandson comes to the city and starts living temporarily on their couch. Adam and Sabrina hit it off right away but they quickly come to a head when the temporary living situation needs to come to an end and one of them needs to move out.
I really loved how Sabrina and Adam bonded over their love for books. I loved all the references to real YA books. Especially the nod to This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen which is one of my favorite books. This book makes me want to quit my job and work in a library and get my masters too!

Unfortunately I did not finish this book. I didn’t feel nah sort of connection to the characters and I’m not entirely sure I understood what the plot was. In addition, I think the pop culture references were just a bit too much for me. I do think that this book would be good for people who like romance go be a side plot, but I came into this with the expectation that it would be at the forefront.

This book has a really cute concept that I had not heard of before that I hope is a real think pairing older people who want socializing with younger people who need a place to live. And in turn they help each other. I wish this book was about Sabrina Marcias relationship as friends and not a romance. Marcia was such a wonderful character that the romance ended up feeling like a side plot and not the main story. If we could change this and instead have Sabrina and Marcia solve crimes I'd be sold! Let's just nix Adam all together. His character felt very one note

This book was not for me. I tried really hard to like it and to keep reading, but I just could not get into it. I didn’t like the main characters and I felt like it just kind of dragged on and on. I think the dog, Rocket, was the best part of the book.
