I am a huge Freida fan and have read all her thrillers except 4 of them. I can say the latest few books including The Tenant have been disappointing. Yes, her books are very quick easy reads. But, the repetitive mention of certain pets or names gets old in many of her books gets old. I feel like it started with The Coworker and just continues. This one specifically had many pages focused on Goldy the fish or the laundry. So for me I was just trying to get through many parts of the book. It picked up in Part Two when the twist came and I was glad the twist wasn’t something completely out of left field. Then in the end was another pleasant surprise. I wasn’t super shocked in this story. So in the end it was enjoyable but unforgettable. Maybe I am just outgrowing Freida, where I need more character development and deeper connections to characters, then just surface level entertainment.

Freida always keeps you on your toes. You always think you know what happened and then BAM! No ma’am you were definitely wrong !

Okay, I'm back on the Freida McFadden train! Her last two books disappointed me a little, but this one brought me all the way back in. There were twists I didn't see coming and a fun, original story. The main character was a good mix of sympathetic and hateable, which I also loved. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun, twist, fast-paced thriller!

Loved the psychological thriller aspect from a MMC perspective. Overall a decent and enjoyable read. Freida McFadden never lets you down!

I am always nosey about what is coming up next with Freida McFadden and her newest book, THE TENANT, seemed so interesting that I knew that I needed to prioritize it. This book is a binge/read-in-one-sitting type of read, that's for sure!
Blake Porter had it all—until a sudden firing and mounting debt left him scrambling. When Whitney, a seemingly perfect tenant, moves into his brownstone, she offers a financial lifeline—but also an unsettling presence he can’t ignore. As the walls close in and eerie disturbances mount, Blake realizes too late that inviting her in may have been the biggest mistake of his life.
Honestly, I knew immediately what was going to happen and I was right. It's about as obvious as The Boyfriend was (the characterization, the weird dialogue between the antagonist/s and the twist reveal, etc.) but as bingeable as it was as well. I liked this one more than The Crash, but ugh I am all over the place with McFadden books. I read this book in one sitting, so you know it'll be a fun journey, just don't expect anything unique or thought provoking.

Freida did it again!! I love Freida's books- I have read ALL of her books. I was so excited to read this book, and she did not let me down when I finished it!
I do not want to spoil anything to anyone-but this is a typical Freida book (in a good way, of course!). There is a BIG twist in the end which I did not see it coming. Highly recommended!!

Freida’s done it again! The twists were fantastic in this book! I wasn’t expecting how it ended and I loved it!

Thank you to Freida & Netgalley for sending me this ARC /First Read.
This was just ok for me sadly. I felt like it was kind of dry. All the characters I enjoyed and Freida did do a good job of making Blake scene insane.
I did appreciate the two Frieda twists as I did not see the ending coming, however it was very slow to get there. 50%-60% into it is when it started getting good.
Wasn’t bad just wasn’t my normal Freida experience. Still love her though.

Freida you did it again!! I thought I had this one figured out. I was on edge the whole book, keep me guessing and thinking I was right. The characters were my fav each one of them giving off there own vibes which was kinda hard for me to read which i love in a book. You truly stumped me with this book. This is one of my fav books written that I've read by Freida. @posionpenpress

Blake and Krista are engaged and living in a brownstone. Blake just got promoted at work and life is great, until it isn't. Blake randomly loses his job that he needs to make mortgage payments. Both Blake and Krista decide it is a good idea to rent out their extra room for some extra cash to help with the bills. Their new roomie, Whitney, moves in and then everything goes downhill!
I enjoyed this book! It was written so well that in some parts it had me thinking like "Am I going crazy." Such a easy book to binge! I always enjoy when there is multiple POV's to get all the different thoughts/ideas/etc. Yet when I got to Krista's POV, it felt kind of repetitive in certain areas. I also wish that we got more of Whitney's POV.

I absolutely look forward to any new book by Freida McFadden. She always has jaw dropping thrillers. And The Tenant was no different. I will admit it started out a little slow, Blake Porter is on top of the world. He's just received a great promotion, he's engaged to the woman of his dreams. But sometimes dreams don't last. Blake goes to work one day excited about his new job, however he is shocked when he's immediately called into the boss's office and fired on the spot, accused of things he swears he didn't do. Blake's life begins to fall apart. Blake and his fiance' Krista are trying to figure out how they can pay their mortgage. Krista suggests getting a tenant since they have an extra room. After interviewing many prospective tenants, Whitney finally seems to be their best option. However, its not long and things really start going wrong. Blake feels like he's lost his mind. So as I stated earlier The Tenant started out slow, but once I reached the first jaw-dropping twist, I couldn't put the book down. Once again Freida has brought her fans another thriller with many surprises and twists along the way. I was very lucky to get an early copy of this book by NetGalley to read and I thank them for the opportunity. I definitely suggest you get this one on release day. I guarantee it's another page-turner.

Typical Freida twists and turns! On most of Freida's books, I at least have an idea of where it may be going. (Even though I'm wrong 100% of the time) I did not with this book! Such a fun read and keep me thoroughly entertained throughout the whole book! Loved it!

I love a classic Freida twist, but her last few releases seem to be lacking the punch. I am unsure if this is because I am better at guessing them since I have read all her books or if the twists just aren't as hard hitting.
I thought The Tenant was an okay story. The writing is well done, but the actual storyline was lackluster. I didn't enjoy our MMC or any of the characters really which made it hard to care for the spiral he experienced. I've also noticed that it seems like Freida has been leaning into the "popcorn thriller satire" that she gets some flak for which completely just takes you out of the suspense of the book.
I do still recommend this as a fun quick read, especially if you're a Freida fanatic, it's just not my favorite of hers.

I was so excited to be an ARC reader and this book did not disappoint! Read in 1 day! Couldn’t put it down! As always I couldn’t guess the ending 🤯😳

Another Freida classic! Once again thought I knew what was about to happen but I was wrong !!! Have already purchased paperback to add to my Freida collection.

I have read several books by this author and have loved almost all of them. This one was no exception. I really did like this book and as usual had some twist and turns and characters that make you angry. However, most of it was a little predictable for me as I had figured it out about half way through. This is a quick easy read that will grab your attention so I do recommend. Thank you to Net Galley and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC!

Freida! First of all, “Thank You,” and “Thank you,” to The Poisoned Pen, for this arc! This book had my attention from start to finish. Just when you think you’ve got the characters figured out, she gets you good with not just a twist, but a major twist! This book is one that I would have wanted to read in one setting. It was well written and very suspenseful. I’m kind of glad that work got in the way so I could think about it and enjoy it a little longer. This one had me like the first HouseMaid sucked me in!

I enjoyed this book, as much as I enjoyed all of Friedas other books. It was full of suspense. & kept me guessing the entire time. Just when I thought I knew.. I DID NOT!!! Frieda is the master of edge of your seat page turners. & you keep going until you find out what happens. This was a great easy read!!! Five stars!!! (My review from an ARC)

THANK YOU Freida and Mandy for the opportunity to read an ARC of The Tenant.
What a tangled web Freida so delicately weaves (wove?) for us!
No spoilers but this one gets all the stars. This isn’t a single plot twist type book. It’s more like a layered, complex dessert that gets more delicious as you go. You almost certainly think you know what direction it will take only to discover you have no idea how far Freida will go until the last few pages of the epilogue.
This is definitely a fantastic read that will keep you snatched in from the beginning! Even when you’re not reading, you’ll be wondering what Whitney and Blake are going to do today.

I was blessed to get an ARC of The Tenant! I am super thankful.
My thoughts:
Very much a Freida McFadden book, which is great! It sucks you right in from the beginning and you want to know what's going on while also kind of guessing yourself. I felt like some of the POV from the male character didn't seem super believable, but I'm also not a man, so what do I know? I ALMOST figured out the big reveal but there was a little spin I didn't see coming...that was exciting. However, aspects of the ending of the book seemed rather rushed.
Overall, definitely enjoyed my time reading this book! Another Freida win!
