Oh. My. Gawd. What a crazy, twisty story! The beginning kind of crawls along then all of a sudden - BANG! The plot twist of the year award.

Freida McFadden’s The Tenant is a gripping psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the very last page. With its expertly crafted suspense, multidimensional characters, and a plot full of twists and turns, this book is a masterclass in tension and intrigue.
McFadden’s storytelling is sharp and immersive, pulling you into Blake’s increasingly paranoid world. The characters are richly developed, with layers that unfold gradually, keeping you invested in their fates. Blake, in particular, is a compelling protagonist—flawed, relatable, and impossible not to empathize with as his life spirals out of control. Whitney, on the other hand, is an enigma, her true intentions shrouded in mystery until the very end.
What makes The Tenant stand out is its relentless pacing and unpredictable twists. Just when you think you’ve figured it all out, McFadden throws another curveball that leaves you reeling. The tension builds steadily, culminating in a jaw-dropping finale that you won’t see coming.
This book is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers. It’s well-written, suspenseful, and impossible to put down. Freida McFadden has proven once again why she’s a master of the genre, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store next. If you’re looking for a thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, The Tenant is it.

Oh Freida! Oops you did it again . You played with my heart… So in this one Blake and his girlfriend Krista end up having to get a tenant because Blake was fired and Krista is underemployed. After a hilarious array of possibilities in walks Whitney. She is a winner … or is she? She moves in and things start happening. She toiletries, eats up the coveted cereal, and mysterious things start happening. Could it be Whitney that is causing the chaos? Blake sure thinks so. As things start to pile up so does Krista’s patience with Blake blaming Whitney for everything. So what is going on here. Is it just bad luck that all these things are happening or is Whitney to blame? Here is where I will not ruin the first twist. But let’s just say there is one and it’s a doozy. As Blake seats out to find the truth he finds that he regrets his living situation. If only he had kept his job none of this would have happened. So dang good I could not put this one down. So juicy as always!

Enjoyable but quirky read about a couple who are forced to take in a tenant for their NYC apartment for financial reasons. When Blake loses his job, his fiancee suggests they get a tenant to help them pay the rent until he finds another job. After many weird applicants, they finally welcome in Whitney who seems fairly normal compared to the rest. But then strange things start to happen and Blake is unsure if he can trust the new tenant. Is she really who she says she is?
Lots of twists and gruesome murders....Freida at her best....

I’m giving this 4-stars “for Freida McFadden” - not 4 stars overall. That being said, this was fun! I like that she included the perspective of a male character, which she’s never done before. I finished this in about a day.

Blake’s Porter's seemingly perfect life takes a sharp turn when he loses his job, compelling him to rent out a room in his cherished Manhattan brownstone. Enter Whitney: charming, financially stable, and the ideal tenant-or so it seems. As her stay progresses, Blake begins to question his decision and his own sanity. While The Tenant isn't my top pick among McFadden's works, its fast-paced narrative made it a compelling one-session read.
The suspense is palpable, though some plot twists felt a bit predictable.
If you're a fan of psychological thrillers that delve into trust and paranoia, this book deserves a spot on your reading list.

This author sure knows how to ramp up the suspense. She gets you invested in the characters and then twists everything you think you know about them upside down.

Freida McFadden is a go to author for me. This was not my favorite but still well written. It took me a long time to get into the book but once I was in I was all in. The story is well thought out and the twisty plot flows well. I was left with a few unanswered questions though.

Mark another check beside Freida McFadden's name. She has done it again. I was thrilled to receive an eARC from the publisher through NetGalley.
This story felt more mellow though it wasn't. It had its twists and misunderstandings, complications and aggravations yet it read smoothly. I finished it in one sitting. I felt the punch was a little softer but still good. I almost thought scorpion would be the next "turtle" or "shoe". Ha ha!
I love Freida's work and this one didn't disappoint. Her stories are entertaining! I like the storyline. You get a whole different crew with each of her books and I like how she sets them up and plays it out.
Thank you for the advanced copy in exchange for my review. I will try not to rub it in too much to to my friends!

Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press for the opportunity to read this ARC of The Tenant.
I’ll admit that the book started off differently than most Frieda title, as Blake is the main point of view and I wasn’t sure it was going to work. I was wrong! Blake was an interesting character and Frieda did a great job bringing him to life! In true fashion, this book had a number of twists that I didn’t see coming.
I appreciate the opportunity to read this ARC - can’t wait to purchase it for the library. 4.5 stars

Thank you to NetGalley and special thanks to Emily Luedloff for the ARC of The Tenant! I loved this one! I really enjoyed that the main character was a man; I don't recall another of Freida's books with a male as the main POV. This story, like all of Freida's work, is completely un-put-down-able! I really wasn't sure who to root for throughout most of the book, but my jaw was on the floor a couple times. I love Freida so much and will continue to devour every single thing she puts out!

The Tenant is the kind of thriller that messes with your head in the best way! Freida McFadden keeps the tension high from the start, and once things start unraveling, it’s impossible to put down. Blake Porter loses his job, his finances are in shambles, and renting out a room in his fancy brownstone seems like the perfect solution. Enter Whitney, gorgeous, friendly, and way too good to be true. The paranoia slowly creeps in, and you can just feel something sinister coming. I loved the slow burn suspense, that kept me second guessing everything. The twists are wild and it’s got that signature psychological mind game vibe she does so well!

Oh noooo, the first Frieda McFadden book I didn't like. I am so sad.
SUMMARY:
Blake Porter is a high level business guy. Marketing? I think it was marketing. We are in Manhattan, because Frieda wrote this. Blake lives with his fiance, Krista, in a brownstone in the Upper East Side. I am pretty sure it is East. The fancy Gossip Girl side.
Life is just the bee's knees for these two. Blake was recently promoted, they are engaged, they are RICH rich.
Uh oh Spaghetti-Os, Blake gets fired.
NYC rent is of the Devil, so after a couple months of job searching, they are in danger of losing the brownstone. Time to find a roommate! Enter Whitney.
MY THOUGHTS:
So the twist was a twist. Did I call it? Yes. Was I sad I was right? No, I love being right. Did it make reading the last 30% of this book way less enjoyable? Absolutely. I know Frieda's whole thing is twists. She is the M. Night Shyamalan of thrillers. But this was more The Beach That Makes You Old than I See Dead People, you know?
Maybe I have just read too many of her books in a row. I just feel like, maybe for the next book, we can have the person who seemed like the villain the whole time actually be the villain, you know?
Why did Blake have to be so unlikeable? By the end I was kinda like, yeah girl get him!!!! Which I don't think was the point.
FINAL OPINION:
This is not, like, a bad book. But please don't let it be the first Frieda McFadden book you read. She has so many other great options. And of course, this hasn't put me off of her. I will be eagerly awaiting anything else she puts out!
Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC! All opinions are my own.

This was an easy read from Freida. Typically she has lots twists that seem to come from left field. I knew from the start that Whitney couldn't be the one that was doing all of the things to Blake. The most logical 2nd choice was Krista. Because she didn't have a big background, I was slightly surprised it was her. Her part in the book was so small that I didn't think it made total sense. Overall, quick and easy read without any "out there" twists typical of Freida.

Freida doesn't disappoint! I really enjoyed this latest crazy adventure. Total popcorn read, highly unrealistic, super addictive, just a fast-paced fun read. A new roommate, a seemingly happy couple..what could go wrong? Everything! I really liked it. Not world literature but this is exactly the kind of book you need in these crazy times. Thank you @netgalley and @sourcebooks for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to Sourcebooks for providing me with an advance reading copy of The Tenant by Freida McFadden. As a huge fan of Frieda’s captivating novels, reading one for the first time is an unparalleled reading experience for me. While rereading her books remains enjoyable, there’s a unique thrill the first time through. Frieda wrote part of the narrative from a male character’s perspective, and I empathized with his predicament so deeply that I had a dream about his situation. Freida’s novels are renowned for their jaw-dropping moments, but the conclusion of the first part truly shocked me. I extend my congratulations to Freida McFadden and Sourcebooks for achieving what will surely be another bestseller!

Freida does it again with her on the edge suspense and crazy twist and turns. I loved how fast paced it was. I finished this book in one sitting and would highly recommend this book and will be definitely be ordering for my rural library.

Dare I say it, The Tenant may have just taken the spot of my absolute favorite Frieda thriller! Thank you for the advanced copy! I started reading and couldn’t put it down. Stayed up far past my bedtime and woke up too early to finish, and now it’s time for a nap! As always, I never saw the ending coming. I thought I had Blake and Amanda figured out but Frieda always has a beautiful spin. I’ll be thinking about this one for a while. 5 stars, must read!

Blake and fiancé Krista are forced to take in a lodger to help make the mortgage payments on their New York City brownstone.
Meet Britney, the perfect tenant, or is she?
Told from Blake’s perspective and full of humour, with quips on every page, it has the feel of a sharp NYC couples comedy, until things get darker and much more twisted. It’s great to see Freida writing a male main character, is he a ‘self-obsessed a**hole’ or a good guy on a run of bad luck?
Freida’s signature pace and flow are in full effect. This is a very fast read and as smooth as silk.
Read it as soon as can!
