OMG!!! "There's no place like home..." especially when "Danger lives right at home, and by the time Blake realizes it, it'll be far too late. The trap is already set."
I was riding on the pity train for Blake, who lost his VP marketing job and almost lost his home until him and his fiance Krista took in a tenant to help alleviate the cost. When Blake sees the beautiful tenant Whitney, he realizes it is a mistake. Walking around in her skimpy nighties will be the least of his worries after he ruffles her feathers. The house begins to reek of ferocious smells, strange noises and his neighbors steer clear of him.
This psychological thriller becomes tense and disturbing. As we watch Blake descend into madness, the lies and twists keep coming. I wasn't sure what to believe, as the tables turned until the last page. Krista appears as a clueless partner to what is happening as I questioned every motive and allusive truths. An incredibly fast paced psychological thriller that will tangle you into their web leaving you breathless. This author is one of my favorites and she seems to blow it out of the park with every book.
Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this incredible ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I was lucky enough to be picked as an ARC reader of the Tenant, and I’ll be honest; after being ever just so slightly disappointed after reading The Crash (I know, I know, I’m one of the few!) I was interested to see how I would feel about this one. I must say, I was blown away. I finished the entire book in half a day because I couldn’t put it down, and then, when I thought I got to the twist, Freida threw me a curveball that left my jaw on the floor! This is a must read for fans of Freida McFadden, and for new Freida McFadden fans, a great place to start!

Freida has done it again! The Tenant had me hooked from the very first page. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen there were twists and turns to shock me and keep me on the edge of my seat. I finished this book in just one day, something I never do. Forget all those unfinished chores!

Thank you Poisoned Press publishing, Freida McFadden and Mandy Chatham for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
“Blake Porter is riding high, until he's not. Fired abruptly from his job as a VP of marketing and unable to make the mortgage payments on the new brownstone he shares with his fiancée, he's desperate to make ends meet.
Enter Whitney. Beautiful, charming, down-to-earth, and looking for a room to rent. She's exactly what Blake's looking for. Or is she?
Because something isn't quite right. The neighbors start treating Blake differently. The smell of decay permeates his home, no matter how hard he scrubs. Strange noises jar him awake in the middle of the night. And soon Blake fears someone knows his darkest secrets...
Danger lives right at home, and by the time Blake realizes it, it'll be far too late. The trap is already set.”
I’m a huge Freida fan so I was really excited to get this ARC. Unfortunately, this one just didn’t do it for me. It was a quick read but the characters were just eh. I did feel bad for Blake because everything for him just kept getting worse and worse making him look like he was crazy. It didn’t really have the same keep you on your seat like her other books do.
Not my favorite one by her.

I am so thankful for this ARC of The Tenant! Another great, twisty story by the amazing Freida McFadden! I couldn’t put it down.!

As a longtime fan of Freida McFadden, I was excited to dive into The Tenant, and while there were elements I enjoyed, this one ended up being a mixed bag for me.
The book started off strong, fast-paced, engaging, and full of that signature intrigue that pulls you right in. The short chapters definitely helped keep the momentum going, which I always appreciate. However, after that initial hook, the story shifted into more of a slow burn. There were moments where twists tried to reignite the tension, but for me, they didn’t quite land hard enough to fully recapture that early excitement.
By Part 2, the pace picked back up and had me hopeful, but it soon simmered back down again. One thing that stood out as a bit off was the writing style in the POV of the MMC, it didn’t quite click for me and pulled me out of the narrative at times.
The plot itself was somewhat predictable. I always look forward to Freida’s epilogues (she’s known for those jaw-dropping final twists!), the reveal in this one felt a little underwhelming compared to her usual standard.
That said, I still enjoyed the read because I love Freida’s writing and creativity, but I’m judging this one fairly: it’s solid, entertaining in parts, but not my favorite of hers.

This was a fast paced, short chapter page turner. Blake lost his high power job and needed to find a way to bring in money to help pay the mortgage. Living with his fiancée Krista, they decided to take a tenant. The story unfolds and he is unsure about his decision and starts to think something is wrong. Freida drops bombs and this has me second guessing everything I’ve read up to this point. Excellent writing, nerve wracking page turning. This book did not disappoint.

I have read about 95% of Freida's portfolio, and I can say this is in my top 3.
I was excited to have the arc, and I ended up reading this in less than 24 hours. I enjoyed reading the majority of the story from Blake's point of view, I felt for Blake anytime something was not going is way or he was accused of something that we know he didn't .
My only reasoning for the 4 stars is after reading so much Freida, I start to find the twists more "predictable." In this case, from early on I knew who the "bad one" was going to be. I just had a haunch.
Overall, the plot line was fantastic, and it made its way into my top! The plot line kept me engaged, wondering what would happen next

This book is everything we needed and more. The queen of suspense and twists hits again. You can’t go wrong with this book. Please read. I was chosen as an arc and I’m so glad that I was. Absolutely amazing read. I thoroughly enjoyed it

Loved this book!! Freida McFadden never fails to write such good books that are easy reads! I can never put them down!

Well … what can I say! I had this figured out … or so I thought! The twist at the end got me! Not my favourite Freida book but equally a good read and would recommend, I was lucky enough to be given an ARC by the lovely Freida and poisonedpenpress so thank you

I finished this book in 24 hours. It was definitely one of her best newly released books. I was mad at myself at the end for not seeing the twist but i definitely didn’t see that coming!

Bought this on pre-release and then scored a chance at an early read. Finished it in a day and it’s another great book! Glad my physical book is on its way in a few days lol
this book had me STRESSED. I was so upset with Whitney I could feel my heart rate increasing getting so pissed off at all the stuff that was happening 😂 I think I was so focused on her crazy that I never took the time to try and figure anything out; so I was definitely pleasantly surprised by the twists. Pick this up if you get the chance and you won’t be disappointed!

As always Freida did it again! Just when I thought I had it al figured out (which I never actually have it figured out) BAM!!! I enjoyed the man point of view more than I expected to. Great writing as always!

The Tenant by Freida McFadden another 5⭐️’s for me….definitely in my top 5 of Freida McFadden books! The Tenant was full of twists & turns and once you thought you figured it out Freida strikes again with another twist! Perfect book for a day of binge reading because you won’t want to put this on down!

Freida puts something in her books that makes them unputdownable. I haven’t figured out what it is yet, but The Tenant was no exception. I was hooked from the first chapter.
This was more of a domestic thriller, but it wasn’t any less gripping. It had a great cast of love to hate characters, everyone in this book was varying degrees of awful.
I knew there was a twist coming, it wouldn’t be a Freida book without one! However, it took me right until it was revealed for the pieces to click together. Everything devolved from there after the carefully built anticipation and tension, and I don’t want to say too much to avoid giving anything away, but I will say that I support women’s wrongs when vengeance is needed.
Thank you so much to Freida, and Mandy at Poisoned Pen Press for sending me this eARC from Freida’s Facebook readers group!

Thank you Poisoned Pen Press and Net Galley for this ARC!
This book kept me hooked and wanting to finish it right away to see how it ends! I felt so many emotions during this book. You are second guessing so many of the characters like all of Freida’s books. Definitely a new top fave of mine of hers!

*NO SPOILERS OF THE STORY ARE IN THIS REVIEW*
Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the eARC! I’m still so shocked I was able to get one! 😭🤩
And yet again, Freida does NOT disappoint! I DEVOURED this book fast (I couldn’t help myself) and I loved how well-written Freida’s books always are. It plays like a movie perfectly in my head. There are some unanswered questions I have, and of course, there always seems to be just one little detail in these twisty thrillers that feels insanely far-fetched to me. Although, it IS fiction and definitely meant to be a literary roller coaster, which it absolutely is. Freida McFadden’s abrupt plot twists are the reason I have trust issues! Every time I thought I knew the next twist and turn, it turned out to be more than what I expected.
I very much enjoyed reading The Tenant and I’m still blown away at how Freida can think of these twisty thrillers with such unexpected outcomes. I bet her brain looks like a hedge maze with no dead ends. I loved this book, even if there are things that felt a little too improbable, the puzzle pieces fell together in the end, albeit a little jagged, I feel it made it even more of a page-turner.
**disclaimer: I received this eARC from NetGalley and am leaving this review on my own accord. All thoughts are my own!**

I absolutely loved this book!! It was so twisty and I devoured it!! Freida has done it again!! 🔥
Thank you so much for the ARC copy!! 🥰

A huge thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and Net Galley for the opportunity to read this ARC! This was definitely one of my favorite reads from Freida, and I’ve read nearly all of them. The short chapters in first person point of view kept me hooked from start to finish. Just when you think you’ve figured everything out, I bet you Freida is always one step ahead!
