A page-turner like all of McFadden’s books, but not as gripping as some of her earlier books. The interaction between the main characters is at times stilted, the dialogue seems odd. The twists are easier to see through. But overall still worth reading.

Freida has done it again as usual. The male narrator was done well and was a unique voice. I was grossed out and hooked the entire time, constantly on edge. Well done.

Not my favorite Freida McFadden book, but I still enjoyed it. I figured out what was happening in a way before it happened, but not the whole story. I found myself "WTF"ing at the tenant through most of the book. Thinking how could someone be so awful. I gave this 3 stars, not bad, but there has been better.

Thank you Freida and Poisond Pen Press for gifting me an ARC of The Tenant.
I was hooked from the very first page. The tenant is a very fast paced book about betrayal, revenge and secrets with twists after twists after twists, they just kept coming! I was left feeling gob smacked and mind blown.
I really enjoyed the different POVs and a male as the main character was a first for me, but I actually loved it.
I can't wait until The Tenant is published so we can talk about it, I see this book being #1 world wide and would absolute LOVE to see this made into a film. 1000/10.

Freída did not disappoint. I gave this book 5 stars. I did not see the twist coming and the deep exploration of trust and deception was well executed.

A very sincere thank you to Freida McFadden and her team. I won an ARC copy of The Tenant. (Freida Readah here) I was so happy, I cried. The book was amazing and is my favorite so far. I received this book as an ARC and it was one of my favorite Freida books so far. It has an original plot line, is a fast, entertaining read and has you constantly guessing who is behind it all. After reading many of Freida’s other books, I thought I had finally guessed the twist right but I was wrong again.

4.5! Freida McFadden does it again! The Tenant had me hooked from page one. The setup seems simple—guy rents a room to a new tenant—but the tension builds so quickly, and just when I thought I had it all figured out, the twists came flying. I couldn’t put it down. The ending was a jaw-dropper!

5 stars ⭐️ all around! Typical Freida fashion, each chapter catches your attention & leaves you wanting to know more! The twist at the end was very surprising to me, wasn’t expecting that outcome. Overall will definitely read again! Would place this book in my top 5 of favorite Frieda books. Highly recommend!

Such a great read!! Kept me on the edge of my seat and made me want to keep reading “one more chapter”! I tried to guess the plot twist and of course was wrong again. Love her books!

Just finished The Tennant by Frieda McFadden (yep, I got an ARC - are you jealous). It’s got that classic twisty vibe, but the protagonist is male, so it felt like something new from her. When the POV switches later it’s clear she is great writer who knows how to write convincingly from both male and female POV.
I loved watching Blake’s slow descent into madness, and the humour was perfect. I caught myself laughing at things I probably shouldn’t have, which somehow made it even better.
If you like thrillers that mess with your head but still manage to make you smirk, definitely give this one a go.

Author Freida McFadden returns with another tension laden thriller leaving readers scrambling to figure out who can be trusted once again. All the author's signature wicked plot twists are here up to and including the final last chapter shocker readers have come to expect. Fasten down the hatches before diving into THE TENANT. You won't be able to stop until the final page is read.
Blake Porter is a man on top of the world. He has it all - the perfect fiancé, a lovely brownstone in a desirable neighborhood and a lucrative job in marketing he loves. He's a man on the move upward to better things . . . until he's suddenly fired from his job with accusations of selling trade secrets to the competition. He's stunned and devastated that his boss won't listen to his protests of innocence. Blake knows he's innocent of the accusations, but he's forced to pack his things and get out. Before long, his savings run out, debt mounts, and he's in danger of losing their home. When his fiancé suggests they take in a tenant, he's hesitant but being between a rock and a hard place, he caves and agrees. After a line of misfit applicants, Whitney strolls into their lives with cash in hand, appearing to be the answer to their prayers. However, over the next few weeks, Blake's unease escalates as weird, disturbing things begin happening, testing his patience and shooting his stress level through the roof. Even his neighbors are acting differently towards him. What's happening to him? His fiancé doesn't notice anything wrong and is becoming close friends with Whitney. As events escalate, Blake realizes he made a fatal mistake allowing Whitney to move in. Who is this woman and why is she trying to destroy him? Or could it be his own guilty secret haunting him at night?
Author Freida McFadden's THE TENANT is an intriguing, taut thriller that touches on subjects of revenge, privilege, betrayal and dark secrets that come back to haunt you. As always, her characterizations are vivid and realistic. As in most of her books, emotional stress, paranoia and a fear of the unknown play a role in a character's unraveling. McFadden excels at keeping characters and readers on their toes, guessing and searching for answers to an intricately woven puzzle until the very end. The pace intensifies with the increasing downward spiral of Blake's psyche. I enjoyed the point of view of a well-crafted, male main character perfectly portrayed by Blake as a man clueless as to why his world is crashing down around him.
THE TENANT is one of the only books by this author that I've figured out before the final reveal. Maybe it's because I've read everything McFadden's written and have learned to read the clues a little better, but I saw the climax coming early on. However, it didn't lessen my enjoyment as I burned through pages to see what else would happen and how it would play out. While this isn't my favorite offering from this talented author, it's still a masterpiece in deception and betrayal. Highly recommended to fans of mysteries and thrillers.

Blake loses his job and is suddenly faced with taking on a tenant in the brownstone he shares with his fiancée. While she seems perfect, especially compared to the other people who came to look at it, strange things start happening that make Blake question everything going on around him. What did he get himself into?
Something I really love about Freida's book is that the chapters are short and the language is very casual, which makes them easy to read. However, the very casual dialogue can come off as telling me what going on instead of showing and building the atmosphere.
The premise was good but similar to other roommate books in the thriller genre. The story is told primarily by Blake but uses the other character voices on occasion which is a nice addition to the story. I didn't find the twist to be overly surprising but did enjoy the twist at the very end. Overall, I just found the read to be pretty average.

Ok, after reading the crash and not loving it like her usual books, this one made up for it! Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, a twist came I did not see coming! Loved this one!!! Definitely felt more like a “Freida” book! Can’t wait for more!!!

As soon as a new Freida book comes out, I immediately feel like I need to add to my wants to read list. Everytime I find the books middle of the road.
Her books are soooo binge-worthy, and you can read them in one sitting.
But, they have just not hit for me. This one was super predictable. I guessed every single twist well before the halfway mark. With the exception of one exact person but knew the theory.
Will I still read her new releases, ugh probably. lol.
Thank you Poisoned Press for the early copy.

Great book with lots of twists and turns. Didn’t see it ending this way. Definitely kept my interest but the ending was a little off. Otherwise, I loved everything about the book.

Blake has been dealing with an unfortunate chain of events. First he loses his job and is in jeopardy of losing the home he shares with his fiancee. Then Whitney moves in to rent a room and strange things start happening. - noises, terrible smells, and other things he can't explain. And that's just the beginning! Another great book by Freida McFadden,

Freida McFadden amazing as always!!!! Thank you for the opportunity to read an arc!!! Absolutely mind blowing!!!!!!

Thank you to @netgalley, @poisonedpress, and @fmcfaddenauthor for this advanced copy! This book is scheduled to come out on 5/6! You WON'T want to miss this!
I ATE this book up! From the first chapter, I was hooked. The chapters were super short, which helped me stay engaged! If you're new to Freida, you may think you know what's gonna happen and then BAM she sends you in a different direction. I can guarantee you WON'T see this twist coming! I couldn't put this book down because I had to find out what was gonna happen next! I can't wait for everyone to read this book next month! Hands DOWN a 5 star read! I would definitely say this is one of my favorite Freida books!

THE TENANT! THE TENANT! I was picked to read one of my absolute favorite author's new release. Everybody is talking and waiting for this one to come out.
As with all Freida's books they start out with a bang. There is something about her writing that just keeps you on your toes and as that old saying goes... just one more chapter. Now I will say I caught onto the twist very early. I also can't say that this was mind blowing or had the twists that I have come to expect from Freida. The main character was a bit dense I found and a bit whiny. I actually thought he was a girl for the first few chapters. This could be just my observations. The ending picked up and I was definitely invested in what the heck was happening in this apartment and the roommate. I for sure am glad I have no tenants!
A huge shout out to Mandy Chahal and Poisoned Pen Press and Freida Mcfadden for the opportunity to read this fabulous new release.
