I always look forward to the latest volume of Buzz Books and NetGalley always comes through! It seems like I’ll be spending Spring and Summer of 2025 reading a lot of debuts. They all look amazing, and so do the upcoming releases by some of my favorite authors. The excerpts from Great Black Hope by Rob Franklin and Julie Clark’s The Ghostwriter landed them at the top of my TBR list. There are some excellent historical fiction samples (my prediction is that The Paris Express will be a phenomenal read) and I may add some YA titles to my forever-growing list.

Thank you NetGalley for this awesome sneak peek!

Welcome to Buzz Books 2025: Spring/Summer, the 26th edition of our celebrated sampler series. This collection offers readers an exclusive preview of nearly fifty of the season’s most anticipated releases, curated to showcase both established voices and emerging talents. At the end of most excerpts, you will find a link to the full galley on NetGalley!

Readers will discover new works from beloved bestselling authors including Emma Donoghue, Georgia Hunter, Louis Sachar, V. E. Schwab, Mia Sosa, and Maggie Stiefvater. The collection also features compelling releases from acclaimed literary voices Ron Currie, Stuart Nadler, Dolen Perkins-Valdez, Ivy Pochoda, Jessica Stanley, and others who continue to push boundaries in contemporary fiction.

Continuing our tradition of spotlighting the most promising new voices in literature, this edition introduces several remarkable debuts. Salvadorean-American author Darrow Farr’s The Bombshell draws partial inspiration from Patty Hearst’s kidnapping and radicalization to create a thought-provoking narrative. Other exciting debut authors include Katie Yee, Fred Lunzer, India Hayford, Nanda Reddy, and Josh Duboff, each bringing fresh perspectives to contemporary storytelling.

In nonfiction, powerful new releases explore the depths of human experience. Sophie Elmhirst’s A Marriage at Sea leads this collection with its gripping account of a couple’s Pacific Ocean survival after a whale destroys their boat. The other works delve into the complexities of communication, corporate culture, institutional power, and family dynamics.

The young adult section showcases Graci Kim’s Dreamslinger, a fantasy adventure set in Seoul where dreams materialize and dragons take flight. Other standout YA titles include Shampoo Unicorn, a heartfelt story connecting rural queer teens through podcasting, and Kaya Morgan’s Crowning Achievement, which weaves themes of grief and identity into a Renaissance Faire setting.

Watch for Buzz Books 2025: Fall/Winter, arriving in May, to discover next season’s literary conversations in the making.

My Take:
This is a great way to help plan reading schedules for book clubs and solo readers alike. Through this tome, readers are able to get a good sense of the books to come through more than a blurb. Highly recommended for those who read, are responsible for purchasing books for communities and content creators.

This is an amazing resource for getting previews of a variety of different books and planning out ARCs to request. I especially like that it includes a section on debut authors since its often harder to identify the best ARCs to request by debut authors.

As an avid reader of ARCs, and one who struggles to not overcommit, it is amazing to have a chance to read excerpts of books in advance! This can shape my Net Galley requests, both eliminating and adding to the list. Now I can be sure to not request some that I may not enjoy.

Thank you so much!

This resource was incredibly helpful, and put so many interesting books on my radar. It made me much more excited for reading this spring and summer! I had only heard of two of these books previously. Some of the excerpts were so good that I wanted to read the rest of the book immediately. Can’t wait to read these books in the future.

Another case of so many books, so little time. Lots to look forward to in this sampler! Having the excerpts is very helpful.

I am so happy being getting back into reading again. This title couldn't come at a more perfect time. What a great collection of titles and samples of up and coming books. I am going to have to put my reading journal to good use for all of the books I want to read through spring/summer this year. My "want" list just keeps growing and growing.
This is definitely a book to get if you are interested in seeing which books will be your next picks.

Happy Choosing and Happy Reading!!!

I always look forward to the publishing of Buzz Books. It's SUCH a helpful tool for me as a reviewer because it helps me discover upcoming releases I haven't yet heard about, and allows me to sample books I'm interested both to help me decide whether or not to request them and to get a peek at whether it seems like something I'll want to put on my followers'/subscribers' radar. And this one had some GREAT titles that I'm looking forward to reading more of!
