I haven't gotten one of these in ages so I decided to! I think I need to remember to get these more often as I did enjoy them. The excepts are just enough to get me interested in reading some of these titles, even some of the fiction ones - which isn't something that often happens.

I actually really love this. You get a peek at a book before you request and get a link directly to the request page. This is such a neat way to see what’s coming soon.

Thank you Publisher’s Launch for providing this compilation! It’s a great resource. There were a few books I already had on my radar and was excited to read an excerpt, but most were brand-new to me. Also super convenient to have the links to NetGalley right there for any you want to request.

While conceptually brilliant, the format does not allow for the enjoyment of all the works. I wish this were a little bit more traditionally published.

As far as the selection is concerned, it was very average. I had a very tepid response to them

Thank you NetGalley for sharing your summer reading guide. There is a lot in here but something about the format made it difficult for me to engage.

Thank you to Netgalley and Publishers Lunch Buzz Books for a copy provided for an honest review.

I didn’t find very many books that appealed to me in this issue for some reason. This is my fifth read through of Buzz Books selections. I had four books by previously read writers that I was interested in reading excerpts including The Ghostwriter by Julie Clark, Gothictown by Emily Carpenter, The Girls of Good Fortune by Kristina McMorris, and Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by VE Schwab. The debut section was quite impressive. I found the Nonfiction and Young Adult selections limited.

There were a few books in the debuts that have caught my eye previously and this helped me narrow those down to a few that might interest me. I did enjoy that there was a graphic novel excerpt and a couple of the debuts I had never heard had rather intriguing premises including Blood Slaves by Markus Redmond and Maggie: Or a Man and a Woman Walk into a Bar by Katie Yee.

Overall, I found the selections rather disappointing. There were a few selections where the excerpt was a few chapters that were not at the beginning of the book, and I find that a little disconcerting. Also, perhaps just not enough books in the subgenres that appeal to me.

It’s always helpful to get a jump on new and upcoming releases. Makes it less likely to be blindsided by a customer request or inquiry. I appreciate the buzz books listing.

I always love these samplers because I get the chance to sample books that I otherwise would never have seen! I am so glad that this version seemed to have more of a variety of options than in the past. I am absolutely dying to read A Marriage At Sea and The Ghostwriter! I do wish that the publisher of Julie Clark's books was kinder in approving ARCs!

This review was also published on Goodreads.

I wanted to scope out some YA and fiction from this season and see what was currently being released, especially from Disney/Hyperion.

Thanks Publishers Lunch for always providing such a great selection for these Buzz Books.

I really should stop reading the Buzz Books compilations. Seriously, my to-be-read list always doubles on length AT LEAST every time I read one. Though I was a little late to the party on this one and many of the included books have already been released, I found many intriguing titles that will keep me entertained and reading for the next several months. I'm already looking forward to the 2025 Fall/Winter edition!
