Incredible memories of the 1970s to 1990s. Loved hearing about their past and the retail insight. They both had such an incredible friendship! It is truly a family.

I devoured this book. I was a fan of Kate Spade's designs and owned several of her iconic handbags. This account of her long friendship and business partnership with the author is, thankfully, NOT a psychological post mortem. It is the story of how two scrappy Midwestern young women and their friends and partners built an internationally admired and quintessentially American fashion brand. I enjoyed the author's account of living in gritty downtown New York City in the 1980's. It is so well written that this reader, who is not typically interested in a "how I grew a business" story, was captivated. It is also a lovely tribute to a deep and sometimes complicated friendship. Somehow, the author got the tone of this complicated story just right. I was rooting for Katy and Elyce at every turn. Brava and thank you.
