I'll read anything Beth O'Leary writes and was ecstatic to get an arc. The scenarios she creates are insane in the best way. Lost at sea with your one-night stand? It shouldn't work but it does.

The MC's Lexi & Zeke are so fun and well-written, and the setting was so well done that it played into my anxiety of being lost at sea - I actually loved them in survival mode.

I didn't particularly love the twist and the end, but that was just a personal preference.

Thank you to Netgalley for the arc.

There is truly nothing like getting "swept away' by a gorgeous rom com. See what I did there? Get it? Get it?

Beth O'Leary is back to her absolute best with this one. I absolutely LOVED it and could not put it down. This is the story of Lexi and Zeke who find themselves lost at sea on an old houseboat following a one-night-stand. Of course there's more to it than that, but I am no spoiler giver!

I adored both Lexi and Zeke, even tho at times I thought he was a little too good to be true - but it's a romance so BRING IT ON! He was just lovely, and slightly younger than Lexi, and there's nothing wrong with that I say (*cough cough*). I loved their banter, their honesty and their whole adventure together.

This one comes out next week and if you are looking for an Easter Holiday read - this is the one! So fun, so engrossing, and so sweet. Thank you so much to @hachette for the gifted ARC, and also to @netgalley for the ebook.

My sixth Beth O'Leary and she's another autoread author for me.

This book was what all-encompassing love should feel like. A little messy, sometimes complicated but at the end of the day they know they have eachother and that’s what matters. This book featured plot twists I never could have predicted, a forced-proximity trope and so many beautiful moments that had me tearing up. The relationship between the MMC and FMC was truly beautiful. Without spoiling too much I love how these two strangers faced a plethora of challenges and still knew how to be there for each other which is how real love should be. The story flowed so easily and I was so caught up in all the beautiful details of the scenery and the two of them and just when things seemed to calm down we were thrown through another loop and it felt like I wasn’t even reading because I was so immersed in their story and wanted to find out what would happen next. So If you’re looking for your next strangers to lovers, forced-proximity book that is guaranteed to have you bawling your eyes out (in a happy way of course) this is the book for you!!

Now this was a plot I hadn't seen before, can you imagine being trapped on a boat at sea with your one night stand??

This book was full of funny and tense moments, there were a few times where I was sitting there wondering if they actually were going to get out of their dangerous situation.

Zeke seems a genuine soul, recognising his faults and trying to work on himself. Although both he and Lexi both struggled to recognise their own strengths and together they helped each other to realise them.

I absolutely did not see the twist near the end coming, it threw me for a loop! But I was glad to see everything work out after all, you can't have a romance without a happily ever after!

I adored this book! This book begins with a one night stand on a house boat which turns into 14 days swept out at sea.
Lexi and zeke have all the time in the world to get to know each other and also, figuring out how not to die. I thought this book was going to be quite funny from the unrealistic premise of the story but it’s so much deeper than that. It’s about surviving a life or death situation, they go on many adventures to try to survive, rough seas, oil rigs, leaks, to name a few.
I thoroughly enjoyed this I wasn’t bored once and finished within a few days! I loved reading about both their pasts which turn out to make a clever plot twist!
This was my first Beth O Leary and cant wait to read more from her.

I loved this story of Lexi and Zeke. When their one night stand turns in a very scary 12 days at sea, they face both physical and emotional challenges.

This was less will they or won’t they, and more, how will they survive.

Beth O'Leary just keeps getting better and better. She's one of my auto buy authors at this point, and for good reason. Her writing is fun, easy, comedic and sweeps me away. While Swept Away is totally ridiculous (a houseboat lost at sea) I was here for all of it.

Lexi and Zeke are great characters and they develop slowly but surely throughout the novel. While the age gap initially threw me, I got used to it and enjoyed the dynamic. I didn't love the confession of Zeke being involved with someone 12 years older than him at the age of 16 though, how did that slip in without consent being raised?

I didn't see the plot twist coming, and in some ways I wasn't sure how Penny could be forgiven quite so easily!

All in all, I loved this book and binged it in two sittings. I'd recommend it to everyone!

Thanks NetGalley for an eArc of this book, all opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this book!

I really like Lexi, Zeke is adorable, i love forced proximity which this book has a lot of.
The whole thing is quite cozy and warm.
I even loved Eugene, and I don’t even like birds!
There was a lot to love, but there were also some things I wasn’t a massive fan of.
the entire conflict gave me the ick.
The main characters honorary sister is actually the worst and I don’t feel like the confrontation there was adequate.
And the way Lexi so quickly abandoned Zeke after their time together felt so out of character.

Overall this book was easy to read, a lot of fun, and had such a unique premise. Despite its its quirks I still thoroughly enjoyed it & I would recommend it to a friend

Thank you Net Galley and Hachette AUS & NZ for supplying me this arc for review consideration.

Such a fun and interesting premise - returning to a houseboat for a one night stand and getting swept out to sea.
The concept and author are what drew me in, but I found it played out by the first few days stuck on the houseboat. Then it seemed to drag, with a real lull in the middle. The end picked back up and there was plenty of time given to this.
I enjoyed the reverse age gap and the characters themselves were interesting enough, I just found I was veering to other books to read instead. I really enjoyed ‘The Flatshare’ by this author, her concepts just seem wild but the plots have a lot of heart to them too.

Fantastic, unique drama/romance from O’Leary! The romance absolutely sweeps you away (apologies for the pun, but it really does!) and both protagonists’ personal growth is a surprisingly emotional experience. Genuine heart palpitations from the very realistic dangers of the ocean at times. This is a very memorable read. Really good!

This was such a fun, unique story. Lexie and Zeke have a one night stand on an houseboat and wake to find themselves lost at sea. Their relationship developed so well on the ship and I loved how they grew to rely on each other.

Lexi and Zeke have a one night stand in a house boat. In the morning, they realise a miscommunication had led to them being lost at sea.

I was in a huge reading slump before reading this. The adventure aspect of this book absolutely hooked me and I devoured this. It reminded me of Christina Lauren’s Something Wilder. I liked how different this was. I didn’t mind the big twist at the end. I liked that Zeke was different to most MMCs. I didn’t get a great sense of the characters’ chemistry outside of bonding over their shared experience. I agree with most other reviewers that there was an aspect of this book that made readers uncomfortable (historic possible non-consent not being addressed or taken seriously).

Thank you to Hachette and NetGalley for the arc!

Sorry, but this should be in the horror genre! Stuck on a boat in the middle of the sea with a stranger?? Nightmare. But Beth O'Leary pulls it off, like I knew she would, making it a heart-warming adventure. She somehow made a book that only has two characters featuring for a majority of the time not boring, slay!

Beth O’Leary became an auto-buy author for me after the No-Show with the big twist at the end which had me open mouthed shocked for days after finishing it.

I find her writing to be so completely immersive and engaging, it’s not just a romance novel but one where you can fall completely into the pages and get carried away in the world. And Swept Away is no exception to this.

I love the non-linear nature of the story for the beginning of the novel as it places you smack bang in the action and leaves unanswered questions to be answered as you continue on in the story later.

The plot was completely unpredictable to me and I love that I wasn’t able to guess what was coming next.

Now I will say, considering that being lost at sea is one of my biggest fears I was a bit hesitant to go into this story, but honestly you get so wrapped up in the characters and so hooked in the plot it didn’t even matter how scared I would be if this happened to me, I simply needed to know what was going to happen next. So much so I read this book in one night!

Thank you Netgalley and Hachette for the ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lexi is looking for no-strings-attached fun with a stranger. She deserves one night for herself, doesn't she? Zeke is looking for love. But for one night with a woman like Lexi, he'll break his rules . . .

After the two meet at the local pub, they go home to a boat on the marina together, except the next morning when they wake up, there is no dry land. They have been swept out to sea.

So, from the beginning I must admit there were a few things where I thought 'no way', but given we are in a fictional novel, I was able to suspend disbelief and once you do, you will be in for a treat. The dynamic between Lexi, Zeke and the additional support characters when they become more present were fabulous.
The backstory of each character and way the author intertwined them was so clever and this will be one of my favourites by the author so far. 4.5*

I love to brag, but I hate to be a tease, so I’m in a real dilemma: I read an advance copy of #SweptAway by @betholearyauthor and it is simply superb (brag), but it won’t be released until 1 April (tease). Unfortunately for all of you, my raging desire to talk about how much I enjoyed this book has won out over decorum. The more romance I read, the more I understand that a genuinely good romance novel marries certainty with uncertainty. You know the main characters will end up together - that’s a given - but you still need to feel like something is at stake. The premise of Swept Away raises the stakes so far beyond the usual will-they won’t-they of a romance novel, with Zeke and Lexi stranded at sea together after a one night stand gone wrong. I raced through this book with my heart in my throat, desperate to see what happened next, and sobbed my little heart out twice (which is fairly unusual for this genre). If you liked #TheFlatShare, you will absolutely adore this - I’m just sorry you have to wait until April.

What another amazing read from Beth O'Leary. She just has this way of creating characters and situations that feel incredibly real. As though you are in the friend group.

There is so much to learn from within these pages, we see our characters grow and learn and want to be better, for themselves. And that is empowering. Loving who you are, for yourself. It's something we all can learn from.

As always, Beth O'Leary has written something so easy to read, you blink and it's been 6 hours and you're on the last page. This is definitely a book you need to read... unless you have a fear of open water, probably avoid in that case...

Thankyou to NetGalley and Hachette for sending a review copy of this title. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Super grateful to Hachette for providing me with an advanced reading copy of this one, for those of you who are familiar with my reading patterns you'll know she's an auto-read for me

"It's giving - I lost my mind at sea" - (page idk I didn't write that down).. yeah same girl

I was ready for this book to be done around the 30% mark, while I didn't hate the characters and the lost at sea / forced proximity thing was fun, I just spent the whole time reading wanting them to just be rescued and get it over with (as I'm sure the characters also wanted).

I read somewhere that Beth said she wasn't sure if she could pull off the 'lost at sea' thing, and well girl you did, but it's also a topic that doesn't really have much going for it and maybe that's why people avoid it?? Just to put some words on the page every day they're lost or so there's a spanner thrown into the works and it was kinda boring? Crazy girl accuses dude of wanting to murder her because he has a set of chef knives.. because you guessed it.. he's a chef! injured teen seagull appears, crazy girl stabs dude with his kitchen knives, wound becomes infected, crazy girl reads hidden letters dude told her not to because they're personal?!?! Okay maybe I didn't love the characters? Zeke seemed a lil different than every other romcom love interest though and I did appreciate that. And I also enjoyed the lil plot twist at the end but it also felt like it was thrown in there as a plea.. "sorry this lost at sea thing was boring (because how much can really happen while stranded in the ocean?) here let's spice it up!"

Idk I didn't love this one and find myself forever chasing the high that the Flatshare and the Switch gave me.

I was really excited to read Swept Away—the concept instantly hooked me, and with tropes like forced proximity, reverse age gap, and grumpy x sunshine, it had all the makings of a book I’d love. While I enjoyed the story, I found my interest waning at times. The survival aspect, while unique, felt drawn out, and I think they were lost at sea a little too long for my taste.

That said, Beth O’Leary’s writing is as engaging as ever, and the suspense in the final stretch pulled me back in. The book carries a strong emotional message, and fans of her work will no doubt adore it. While it wasn’t a personal favourite for me, I still appreciated its originality and heart.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5
