I have read a lot of historical romance books over the last 35 years of my life and I have to say that I really liked this one. The author made the lead female character Kitty strong and brave, not a simpering debutante. Kitty is a bookshop owner and the Daughter to a lowly broke Baron with a gambling problem. She is a safe haven for those in need and a champion of her fellow female characters. I really enjoyed the references to the different genres and stories that she sells in her bookshop. I enjoyed watching her romance with Devil blossom. This was a very easy book to read. The author flowed very nicely in her words.

I absolutely loved the chemistry, banter and connection between Kitty and Rhys. This is a great series to read and while this book can standalone, I would recommend the entire series. My only downside is the repetitiveness in some part that seemed completely unnecessary. An example of this is the reason Kitty's father became a baron. I think the pace and length of the story could be greatly reduced by eliminating that repetition. Outside of that, the secondary characters are fantastic, the villain is truly villainous and the plot fully entertaining.
I especially loved the parts where Kitty is talking to herself, as I could wholly relate.

I loved this book! It was hard to put down. The writing is superb, the romance and attraction is swoon worthy, the banter is great and hilarious and the main characters are just the best.
Kitty is such a trooper! She’s incredibly fierce, bold, sassy, protective and never shies away from fighting for her sister or others in need of help, whether it’s about annoying her aunt P or actual having to stand up to people who could actually hurt her.
And Rhys… I loved that he came across as menacing but he clearly was a good man with a big heart. I adored their romance, there was great character development and a true love story! Kitty and Rhys have great chemistry together. Their story was very well written and always keeps you wanting to turn the page.
I loved almost everything about the book; the people and Kitty’s Griffin bookshop, with grey-blue painted walls and gold trims and griffins on the veiling - and an added griffin every time someone insulted her shop.
The tea and the strawberry cake.
I liked Evie and that she had a hedgehog named Galahad for a pet!
Priya, the leader of the Spinster Society (I’m definitely going to check up on book One; very curious about Priya and the others!), and Pierce. McLeod, Tom, Wulf, Yelena.
The book club; fancy women enjoying romantic books, discussing their favorite hero.
But most of all I loved Kitty’s fierceness, her love for her sister and her dedication to help others. I loved her thinking out loud without realizing it. Miss Peridot and her raw onions - there’s so much fun in this book!!
But there are also nasty people and a villain, great pace and a satisfying ending.
Do yourself a favor and go buy and read this book; you will love it! I haven’t read book 1 but as I’ve said I will definitely check it out right after posting this review. I can't wait to continue on with this series!
Content 411: this is book 2 in the Spinster Society Series but can be read as a standalone. In addition to a moderate amount of secular and religious swearing, there are also a few descriptive sexually intimate scenes.
Thank you to publisher, Netgalley and author for providing an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This one was a blast!
Take an earl nicknamed Devil, a merciless collector of debt vowels surrounded by an entourage of war buddies, and fierce protector of his pack.
Add a little redheaded spitfire, a broke baron’s daughter and proud seller of naughty books, desperate to save her little sister from a deadly union.
Some affronted moralists and clergymen, a vile despicable wannabe fiancé, a sour aunt, a worthless father, a carefree baby rogue, an army of deadly efficient vikings and a hedgehog.
Mix with a little theft, threats, blackmail, kidnapping and a whole lot of rotten vegetables, sass and sarcastic repartee - and you get an awesome, thrilling, hilarious, deliciously steamy enemies-to-lovers, not-so-fake engagement, age-gap, touch-her-and-die joyride!
From the very first time Kitty and Rhys exchange a word, their sizzling chemistry just leaps of the page! The dialogue in this book is so dry and so brilliant!
She’s always preferred the dragons over the princes, and life has made her tough, but she’s really not that brave. There’s something about this darkest of morally grey men that intrigues her; he’s the only one who can help her and teasing him is just plain fun!
He’s so used to men bending without protest and women throwing themselves at his feet, that her defiance and fire shake his unfazeable calm and self-control to its very core. Really, who steals from the Devil and the has the audacity to blackmail him? His woman, that’s who, and he will conquer her!
There’s nothing about this book I didn’t like; the style, the plot, the pacing, the setting, the characters and even the pets - everything was just perfect! This tale is action-packed, dangerous and chock-full of heart, and I can’t wait to read the next one in this series!

She's got the Devil's attention...
Kitty, in a brazen move, steals a vowel to force Rhys aka Devil, to help her save her sister from being married off to a murderer. Rhys is intrigued by Kitty and she's got his attention. Steamy times ensue as they work to save her sister. I liked these two spicy characters.
Recommend.

Devil and Kitty! What a marvelous story. He is the most feared person in London and he battles with someone that does not fear them at all. She takes something from him that is going to assure he cooperates with helping her. Her sister has been promised to a ruthless individual. During this time Devil and Kitty grow closer together. He falls first and will do anything in his power to keep her safe, happy and loved.

I enjoyed this entertaining romance, in particular the witty rapport between the main characters. Despite the danger simmering just below the surface, the attraction between Devil and Kitty sizzled as the bookseller and owner of the Seven Sins worked together to unmask their mutual enemy. Kitty's pathetic father and overbearing aunt deserved their fate, after attempting to sell off Kitty's younger sister to a despicable man who was obsessed with gaining an heir. As each layer of deceit is peeled back, Devil and Kitty get closer to the source of their problems until the final horrific confrontation, in which the ladies prove their resourcefulness, bringing the novel to a successful conclusion. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Whew I loved this one. It had a wide cast of character on Devil’s side and I enjoyed all of them. I loved his brother, I want a Tom. Devil was introduced to us in the previous book and man was he charming, sexy, and ruthless to others. Kitty was a woman desperate to save her sister and herself from her father’s mistakes. I liked both of them and especially together as they work to take down Portsmouth. The ending maybe felt a little week with the Claire revelation but I really enjoyed this ride. The sex was hot. Can’t wait for the next one. Thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

When Kitty Caldecott’s gambler father sells her sister into marriage to a notoriously cruel lord with three dead wives, Kitty will do anything to stop it. Including steal from Rhys, the Earl of Birmingham, the Devil himself. What else is a bookseller to do? Kitty's talents include giving literary tours of London and selling scandalous novels. If she has to find a murderer, she's going to need all of the help she can get. The earl created an empire for himself based on collecting debt vowels & no one crosses him Until Kitty who steals a vowel right from his pocket and uses it to blackmail him into helping her save her sister.
The second book in the series & it’s easily read on its own. I liked both Rhys & Kitty, their banter was the highlight of the book. I liked how their relationship blossomed & how Rhys helped her by using his network. A well written interesting romance
I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own

Totally engrossed from the beginning.
Kitty fights for survival for herself and her sister Evie, running her bookshop and defying her father and aunt.
Kitty steals a vowel from the pocket of Rhys (Devil) who is a dominant man and aristocrat.
Their encounters are spicy filled with verbal challenges and promises.
Kitty is a 29 year old spinster ready for excitement and Devil provides that and more.
Fun sexy scenes and action.
Highly recommend.

This was such a fun book to read. Rhys and Kat are just sizzling together. Feared as the Devil, Rhys is uncompromising, cool and very few things throw him off and then he meets Kat. Audacious, strong-willed, brave through all the adversities she faces. A gambling father, a young sister, rotten tomatoes....
The storyline was exciting, the dialogue witty, the tension was ready to snap any moment.
Loved it!

Kitty's wastrel father decides to let his youngest daughter, Evie, marry a despicable earl for money. Kitty, desperate to stop this, decides to steal something from an overlord, nicknamed Devil, in order to get him to help her save her sister. Surprised she is not afraid of him and appalled by how her family and others have treated her, Rhys uses his network and connections to help her. They cannot, however, stop their mutual attraction. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.

This historical romance follows bookseller Kitty and the notorious earl known as the Devil, weaving together intrigue and passion. While I have not read previous book in the series, the possessive dynamic between our sharp-witted heroine and the dangerous, debt-collecting Devil creates delicious tension throughout. Their push-and-pull relationship, marked by Kitty's defiance and his equal measure of frustration and fascination, keeps readers engaged. Kitty's work helping endangered women showcases her bravery, though her persistent self-doubt feels at odds with these courageous acts. Despite running slightly longer than necessary, the book is entertaining. Recommended for readers who enjoy historical romance with a dash of suspense and dominant male leads.
P.S. I received an ARC from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This was a very solid follow-up to The Scandalous Spinster, and I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. When I realized this book would focus on Devil, I was thrilled—he had such a small role in the first book but immediately captured attention. However, I was initially hesitant about Kitty as his love interest because of her actions in the first book. Harvey completely proved me wrong by shedding light on Kitty’s motivations in a way that felt genuine and heartfelt.
The banter between Rhys and Kitty was a highlight, as was getting to know Devil’s men and their camaraderie. I also loved Kitty’s passion for books and her determination to make them accessible to women of all classes—it was such a lovely detail that added depth to her character. Overall, this book exceeded my expectations, and I’m hoping the next installment will feature either Evie or Priya. Fingers crossed!
