This book is a non-stop alien-infused science fiction adventure. Martin, the almost-15-year-old narrator, draws readers in from the first sentence. When Martin and his friend Tina find footage of his father flying on their wildlife cams, it’s hard to believe what they see. Tina helps Martin put the clues together that he's an alien! And when his parents disappear, they turn to some “Spacer” friends (UFO fans who come to their town every year for a festival commemorating what conspiracy theorists believe was a UFO sighting 18 years ago) to try to find them. Also along is the other member of the close trio of friends, Enda, whose brain was damaged in a fall. The plot keeps moving toward an ending that seems impossible up until it happens, with a variety of zany plans and plot twists along the way. Action and adventure lovers intrigued by aliens and conspiracy theories would enjoy this book. This is a great middle grade science fiction that I think they would enjoy. Thanks NetGalley for the ebook to preview.

An sci-fi with dystopian elements that will capture the hearts of action fans! Fast pacing and mystery at the beginning gives way to suspense and action-packed scenes later in the novel. Well-developed primary characters move the plot forward and build empathy for their cause. Loved the secrets and the overall premise (I can’t give it away!). Will buy and recommend, especially to a grade 6/7 age-group.

Absolute delight! Gentle, subtle, conspiratorial, psychological-world-upended, us-against-them, humans-vs-aliens, Science Fiction/Coming-of-Age! Aimed at the MG to YA age group (the main characters are sixteen), SOMEONE'S BEEN MESSING WITH REALITY is set in a small Ireland community with the flair of America's Roswell: the main tourism focus is the annual UFO festival, plus the seaside and surfing.

When young Martin, allegedly suffering from a blood disorder half his lifetime, discovers bizarre, inexplicable facts about his parents, who then disappear, he is alone except for his best friends Tina and Enda. What has happened to the quiet, calm, orderly world he thought he knew? Where to go next? What can he do to right his existence? Who is Martin really?
