Change of Hart by Bailey Hannah

5 ⭐️

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and Bailey Hannah for providing me this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts! I was not even halfway through this read when I knew this would easily be a 5 star read for me AND my favorite book from the Wells Ranch series. I was not expecting there to be so much emotion in this book and I found tears forming in my eyes a few times throughout it 🥹 The story switches timelines between past and present regarding Blair and Denver’s love story from them at 13 years old to now. They are so meant for each other and I loved being able to see them find their way back to each other after talking about the feelings they had stashed from when they were teenagers. Absolutely loved this one 🫶

Tropes:
- Second Chance Romance
- Childhood Romance
- Cowboy x Nurse Practitioner
- Found Family

Change of Hart is the third book in the Wells Ranch series and it follows Blair Hart and Denver Wells. The high school sweethearts who fell apart when Blair moved away reconnect when Blair moves back home to help her dad care for her mother who was newly diagnosed with alzheimer’s. Bailey Hannah does a beautiful job of showing how they changed during their time apart but when they fell back into their relationship, they both realized they’re still the same people they were when they fell in love. When I read the first two books in this series, I fell in love and so I was so happy to have been able to receive an ARC of Change of Hart. The tropes in this book are childhood friends to lovers, second chance, male yearning, and dual timeline. Please make sure to check out the trigger warnings before diving in because it does deal with some heavy topics. Change of Hart releases May 27th and it is so good so make sure to check it out!!

𝐐𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬:

“What’s the password?” “Zero, nine, sixteen.” My birthday. His lock code is my birthday.

Blair glances over at me with every break in conversation, filling my heart until I’m sure it’ll burst. And when her foot taps mine under the table, I’m sure of one thing. Beryl is winning five dollars. Blair Hart is going to be my girl again before this summer ends.

4,982 nights. That’s how many nights I’ve spent missing her. Hating myself. Begging for sunrise. But the nightmare is finally over—I have her in my arms, and this time I’m prepared to do whatever it takes to keep her there.

“You have no idea how happy it makes me to know you found your person, and I got to live long enough to see it.”

I want to start this off by saying that I’m a massive fan of the previous two books in this series, so I knew I was going to like this, but I’m actually blown away by how much I loved it.
It was so nice revisiting the Wells family. Seeing Beryl, Cecily, Austin, Cass, and Red again felt like coming home. You get snippets of both Denver and Blair in the other books, and they may be two of my favorite characters in the whole series now.
Second chance romances are my jam, but this one was so unique in that the reason Denny and Blair break up as teenagers is extremely valid, and it’s not 100% anyone’s “fault”. This gave the romance a deep, emotional layer that had me sobbing for the last 35%.
The then and now chapter format had me so invested, and the scenes with Lucy touched my heart in a way fiction doesn’t normally.
Blair is such a strong character. And you know what, Denver is too.
This was absolute perfection, I wouldn’t change a single thing about this book.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I need to read this entire series. This was sooooooo good. Denver and Blair are fantastic together even after all those years apart. He thought he messed up their relationship so badly she would never take him back but all she wanted was to know that he cared. They are perfect and I love them so much.

I received an arc through netgalley.

Ive been so excited for this book since I first read Alive and Wells and Seeing Red in May 2024 and Im so pumped that this book lived up to the expectations id made up for it in my mind!!

I love, love, LOVED, Blair and Denver. I am their biggest fan forever and everrrrr. I seriously can not even begin to describe how much I loved their relationship, how their love progressed as kids and again as adults. I loved how open and honest they both were with their overall feelings even if Blair was still so cautious about trusting Denver again.

I was not expecting the reason for their breakup and it tore me apart when I finally got to it. As someone who also got pregnant at 18/19 and ultimately chose to have her baby, I understand how big of a choice to make it is and im so thankful I had my husband by my side. I can't begin to imagine how Blair felt. The only thing I wish wed gotten more of was of her story of depression and how she came back from the deepest of dark places. It was only briefly mentioned that she had an inpatient treatment and I wish there had been more on that. but still so appreciative that it was spoken about.

I truly loved how almost anticlimactic their getting together was. I love messy, I love a back and forth but I also love when it's easy. Their conflicts were all internal but I still loved that when it came to it Blair knew she could count on Denver to show up for her. Knew that she could ask for help and he'd show up.

ALSO, my god this book was HORNY. Jesus I was not expecting how much SPICE this book would have but I LOVED it lol .

4 stars!

This was such a fun and emotional romance read. I have enjoyed this series so much. Bailey Hannah has a way of writing exceptionally realistic characters that just draw you in. I absolutely adored reading Denver and Blair's second chance at love. It was so well thought out, and I loved the execution. The chapters written when they were younger felt SO REAL!! It was so fun to follow along as the present-day story unfolded. I love this structure for a second chance.

Thank you so much Dell Romance, Netgalley, and Bailey Hannah for an early copy in exchange for my review!! Releases 5/27 and I highly recommend cowboy romance fans to pick up this series if they haven't already :)

I love this story and I love Denny and Blair!
I’m not sure where to start. The dual timeline was fantastic. I really enjoyed seeing them become friends and fall so innocently in love to all the heartbreaking things that tore them apart interspaced between the now where Denny is completely all in when Blair comes back and being so devoted to her. Reformed playboys give me such pause especially in second chance romances but I 100% approve how Bailey wrote this! I would be Blair and super jealous and hung up on Denver’s past, so I really like that she didn’t just let it go immediately and he had pay for those actions. I know it’s a double edged sword because he became that way from the heart break of losing Blair. He is ready to prove how much he loves and wants to be in and a part of her life even when it’s not all rainbows and butterflies. I couldn’t get over how he wanted to be her safe place again. I was giggling at their 15 year old selves!!! It’s just so sweet and innocent but deep and soul altering. They are soulmates! I couldn’t have asked for a better HEA for them.

The side characters only made a great story all the more wonderful! Lucy made me feel so many emotions from happy and giggling to sobbing. I loved seeing Austin and Cecily, Chase and Cass with baby Hazel. I love Jackson and Kate and the little details of their past and am so looking forward to their story one day. However, up next is one of Wells’ Ranch hands and Blair’s sister, and I love single mom books!

Change of Hart by Bailey Hannah is a book that reminds you why you read—to have a good time.

That’s not to say that the book doesn’t deal with serious themes (see trigger warnings), but it’s all worth it to see Denver and Blair reconnect after years of being apart. It’s so easy to root for them to end up together, which makes this book so enjoyable.

It’s a second chance romance done right. I finished this book in less than 24 hours, I didn’t want to put it down.

This is the third book in the Wells Ranch series and while you don’t need to read the first two to read this book (I didn’t), I’ll be going back and reading them because I enjoyed Change of Hart so much.

Thank you to Dell Romance and NetGalley for the ARC!

I truly don’t know how she does it but every single character is amazing. Bailey is the absolute cowboy romance queen and this book was no exception. From page one the angst and pining hooked me and my heart hurt for Denny.

When I say this was possibly my most anticipated read of the month, it not only lived up to my expectations but it exceeded them ten fold.

Every character was relatable and there were so many thoughts and comments made that perfectly encapsulated the mental health struggles that all characters were facing. I adored that the friends treated them with compassion and took their struggles in stride and encouraged actions and/or choices that helped them to grow and overcome their roadblocks to happiness.

This is by far my favorite second chance romance I have read and it will be tough to top. The dual timeline was done so beautifully and I loved how it correlated with how they were processing their emotions about reconnecting 14 years apart. I think the way everything was presented and resolved was perfectly done to hook you but keep you wanting more.

I can’t even emotionally begin to touch on the influence of Lucy Wells and her absolutely beautiful relationship with not only her boys but also Blair. I loved learning more about this extraordinary influence that shaped the lives and stories of all within Wells Canyon.

I cried no less than 10 times, 7 documented with chapter stamps. The way I went from laughing to crying to sweating from the spice is an experience I can only expect from Bailey.

I savored my time with Denny and Blair and am so sad to never be able to experience them for the first time again. I can only hope their love story brings everyone the same laughs, heart wrenching emotion, and pure joy that it brought me.

10/10 certified banger.
All the forehead kisses to Bailey for writing this masterpiece.

Second chance romances are hands down my FAVORITEEEEE. I love when they include flashbacks into their past as well to provide insight with their previous connection. Also love that there was representation of a woman’s right to her bodily autonomy 😌

Denver and Blair’s love story was heartbreaking and heartwarming and my emotions were all over the place! I loved the flashbacks we got in both of their perspectives so we could see them become friends at 13 to falling in love to not speaking for 14 years and finally back together again! It was a rollercoaster of heartache, laughter, cute/playful, and spicy moments! And I loved how dedicated Denver was to winning Blair back instead of letting her push him away! They were just two people who were madly in love but were broken down by life and had to find their way back to each other through it all! I never want to leave wells ranch!

Also, this was a reading through watery eyes read! It explores grief in different ways with so many gut wrenching/heart clutching moments.

Reviews to come on Goodreads, fable and Amazon on may 24th.

Wow! When I look forward to a second chance romance I expect 100% of everything this book had! Blair and Denver are high school sweethearts that sort of just drift away from each other without much closure after some time after graduation and then reconnect once they are both back in their hometown 15 years later. It felt so realistic to me bc this is exactly how my storyline would go with the “one that got away” in a different universe so I may be biased. There’s a secret tattoo and lots of chemistry! This book just really healed me a little personally so that’s why I gave it 5 stars.

If Bailey Hannah writes it, I’m going to read it! Another amazing book in the Wells Ranch series. Denver and Blair have such an amazing connection. From the time they were 13 to in their 30’s the pair is just meant to be.
The delicate subjects were handled with care. And the story of unbroken love is so beautiful

Thank you NetGally for the arc. Sometimes I like second chance romance sometimes and this is definitely one that I love. Getting to see these two characters grow and come back together was really special. If you love a man who is obsessed with the FMC then look no further because Denver is that man. Also I just love when you get the small moments with the past characters, it makes the found family that much better. I have liked all the Bailey Hannah books I have read so far.

I am such a sucker for a good second chance romance and this was so well done. Denver loves Blair so hard and he showed it in so many little ways. I absolutely adored being back in Wells Canyon.

If you're seeking a romance that intertwines deep emotional resonance with sizzling chemistry, look no further than Change of Hart by Bailey Hannah. The third installment in the Wells Ranch series, this novel stands out as a masterful blend of second-chance love, heartfelt healing, and undeniable passion.

Blair Hart's return to Wells Canyon after 14 years sets the stage for a reunion with Denver "Denny" Wells, her first love and the man who never truly left her heart. Their story unfolds through a dual timeline, offering readers a glimpse into their youthful bond and the poignant reasons behind their separation. This narrative structure deepens the emotional impact, allowing fans to witness the evolution of their relationship from innocent beginnings to complex adulthood.

Denver Wells emerges as the quintessential romantic hero—charming, dedicated, and profoundly changed by time and loss. His journey from a carefree cowboy to a man seeking redemption and reconnection adds layers of depth to his character. Blair, equally compelling, is portrayed as strong yet vulnerable, grappling with her own past and the challenges of caregiving. Her growth throughout the story is both inspiring and relatable.

Hannah's writing excels in balancing emotional depth with steamy romance. The chemistry between Blair and Denver is palpable, leading to moments that are as heartwarming as they are intense. The author also handles sensitive themes, such as grief and mental health, with nuance and care, adding authenticity to the narrative.

Change of Hart is more than just a love story; it's a testament to the power of forgiveness, the strength found in vulnerability, and the enduring nature of true love. Bailey Hannah has crafted a tale that resonates long after the final page is turned.

For those who appreciate a romance rich in emotion, character development, and undeniable chemistry, Change of Hart is an absolute must-read.

If Bailey Hannah writes it, I know I'm going to love it!
We're back in Wells Canyon for another steamy cowboy romance, and this time we're getting Dusty's story- the playboy cowboy we all know from the first two books. This second chance romance was everything I needed.
