“There’s something magical about being with a person who feels so much like an extension of yourself you don’t need to do anything except coexist.”

Bailey Hannah never misses. Every time I read something she writes, I think “wow, nothing can top this!” and then the next novel comes out; “Change of Hart” was no different. This book had me ugly crying in a coffee shop, the feelings that come out with this book are unmatched. I love second chances, and I loved everything about Denver and Blair. Their love told through present day and flash backs really paint the picture to their bond, from high school sweethearts to strangers to whatever they want to call themselves. The “it’s always been you” was strong with this one. 5/5, would read again.

I'm a big fan of second change romance so I ate this up. I enjoyed the flashbacks and I felt like the heartache of a young teen was relatable and familiar. I really enjoyed this!

bailey hannah please please please hire me as your intern. this book was 🥵🤠🥺 in the best way (and absolutely pay attention to the trigger warnings!!!!) For those of you who have wanted (myself included) Denver's book since he was introduced in the wells ranch universe in Alive and Wells. This book was SO emotionally charged, such a tumultuous second chance romance with so many external reasons the couple could be pulled apart, but weren't. What I loved most of all in this book is the way that the best intent was always maintained, even through some incredibly difficult circumstances.

already eagerly anticipating the next book in the series!!

"You call, I come. Always." OK DENVER 🥹🥹🥹

There were so many parts in this that I got emotional. This was really good and I was honestly unsure how I was going to feel with this couple after absolutely LOVING Cass + Red.

Bailey Hannah did such a good job with the second-chance aspect in this. I loved the past tense SO MUCH because you got to really see their friendship/ relationship when they were younger too.

"You. I want you, Blair. If you're the bride, I want to get married. If you're the mother, I want kids." 🥹🥹 Denver loves so hard

✨ small town
✨ second chance
✨ childhood best friends

I’ve had Bailey Hannah’s “Alive and Wells” and “Seeing Red” on my TBR forever. So when I saw this on NetGalley, I JUMPED on the request form. Thankfully Bailey Hannah and Random Publishing House - Ballantine for accepted me for this ARC. This is a second chance romance and while that isn’t one of my favorite tropes, cowboys are my favorite trope. I’m torn on this boom. I struggled with the daul time line between the present and 14 years ago, I felt it slowed down the story. I wasn’t a fan of any of the time we flashed back. However Denver and Blair’s time in the present were perfection. This is a character driven romance novel with a strong female and a swoony cowboy.

My absolute favorite author. Bailey writes stories you can sink your teeth into. I absolutely loved reading about Denver and Blair. 2nd chance romances are one of my favorite tropes and it is so well done. I love a man that grovels.

Let me start by saying that I love the Wells Ranch Series. Books one and two were quick reads with deep storylines and well-written characters. I see some of this in Change of Hart. The author’s style of writing well-rounded characters continues into this book.

Denny and Blair were both well-written, enjoyable characters. The dual timeline works really well for their story. We meet them as adults and then get to learn more about their past through flashbacks. The pacing of the flashbacks was perfect, with the revelation of the initial conflict hitting at the right moment.

The trouble I had with the overall pacing of the story occurred when Denny and Blair got back together as adults. This felt rushed and there was no real discussion of the reason they broke up 14 years prior. They had a brief discussion about their feelings during their initial breakup as teenagers, but it wasn’t in-depth enough for me to believe that their relationship could have survived once that lust-filled phase of their reconciliation wore off.

I also feel that the content warning “Abortion (discussed, not shown)” was not descriptive enough for the events that transpired. I was unprepared for how in-depth this discussion was. If you are sensitive to abortion as a topic in books, I recommend skipping this one. It’s an integral part of the story, even if it isn’t mentioned until the last quarter of the book.

That said, if you're a fan of strong female characters, mental health representation, second-chance romance, and swoon-worthy cowboys, give this book a try. Just take note of all the content warnings.

I am a sucker for a second chance childhood friends to lovers book and Bailey crushed this. I’ve really enjoyed this series but this book was everything for me. I loved how well paced the dual timeline was, I loved the way their reconnection was realistic and how Denver was patient with Blair and their second chance. As someone who’s lost a parent recently and also had to care for them as an adult, reading about the sacrifices Blair made and the loss Denny felt was super healing and the topics were handled very well. Such a great book I can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on it!

I don’t know that I can ever get over any of baileys books!

Second chance is a hard trope to write and Bailey did it so freaking well. I am constantly blown away by the level of care and thought that Bailey puts into her books.

Something as simple as mentioning a propane fire versus a real fire because it’s the middle of an intense fire season. This is what I like to see in books. It makes them more real. Not to mention the NORMAL jobs. Sure some are fun ones but not all of them.

I know it’s fiction and it’s meant to be fake, but making it more real keeps me interested.

Or is it the numerous amounts of foods Bailey adds into her books!?

Truly though, Denny and Blair have my heart rn. The nostalgia I had reading their story hit me right in the heart. I’m happy they don’t have to experience any more what ifs, instead, they get to live them together.

Where do I even start? I think the book’s dedication said it all. Denny is the epitome of an attuned book boyfriend. I loved how he really showed up for Blair in such meaningful ways. I’m not a huge fan of second chance romance because I always feel like the backstory is lacking but Bailey Hannah knocked it out of the park with this one. I was rooting for Blair and Denny every second of this book. I laughed, I cried, I blushed. It was a beautiful story. This was my favorite read of 2025 so far.

Thank you Random House Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC.

I am wholeheartedly in love with this book! I'm in love with this story, with Denver and Blair, and with every bit of emotion they had me feeling. This is for sure my new favorite of the series! I've loved every book, but this one just easily slid into first place.

Childhood friends to lovers and second chance tropes are top tier for me and Bailey absolutely nailed them! I was seriously swooning and feeling all the things along with these characters. Not only the romance between them, but the devastating things that they went through with their family members. I definitely teared up a few times.

The chemistry between Denver and Blair was so, so good! Even during their friendship years, I loved getting to see both of their POVs growing up and in present day. Dual POV and past/present timeline are my favorites, because I feel like it really helps to understand the characters and their decisions so much more than if it didn't have those things!

These two really went through it. The events that led to their separation, especially at their young age, were completely believable and heartbreaking. Even that little moment of a reunion after only a year was so realistic, because of course they still loved each other and ugh, I just wished I could change it for them knowing what the future held! Thankfully we get plenty of sweet and spicy moments to make up for the lost time!

What a beautiful romance this is! I just love Bailey's writing and I enjoyed this book so much! If you haven't read this series, start with book one because they're all amazing!

BAILEY. This series is a million stars and owns my heart. I didn’t think anything could beat Chase & Cassidy but this blew me away.

This book may be called Change of Hart, but it captured my Heart! We have childhood friends who are lovers, a second-chance romance, and a sexy cowboy—what else could you ask for? How about a beautifully written story that will make you laugh and cry and fall in love with Blair and Denny and their story? Blair and Denny first met as friends at the age of 14 or so, and then later became each other's worlds. She was there for him when Denny's mom got sick. Then they were broken up and left broken-hearted. Fourteen years later she returns to town to take care of her mother and Denny realizes he is still in love with her and vows to win her back.

What even is a second-chance romance without any angst? This was a very low-angst story. Even the thing that made Blair and Dever break up at one point was barely talked about in depth - one quick conversation and that was it.
I skimmed a lot. I think the story was pretty much concluded very early once they got together. The rest was just.. there. I also found the switch between past and preset in this annoying, because some of the past seemed like just filler, without adding any real purpose to the present story. I had high hopes for this one, unfortunately it didn't really work for me.

Thank you to the publisher for the ARC via Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to Random House Publishing Group & Bailey Hannah for trusting me with this ARC.

I feel so, so fortunate to have gotten the chance to ARC read this one. With Seeing Red having been the cowboy romance that started it all for me, Wells Canyon has always had a special place in my heart and getting to read Change of Hart while the author is getting the series traditionally published feels so incredible.

I have a bit of a soft spot for jokester-type MMCs - something about men letting their inner child out (in a good way) is just really wholesome to me and we got to see that in Denver Wells for sure. And Blair, my heart, is the oldest daughter stereotype to a tee and I could really feel for her and relate to her. I needed BOTH of them to get a break - Blair needed a break from having to juggle a million things and Denver needed a break from being slut shamed so much tbh. But between the two of them (& the hot, hot, hot) smut, I personally was being ASSAULTED with bi panic.

The story is told a bit dual-timeline-y so we get to see the Blair and Denver of today (distant, heartbroken, islands of people) in direct contrast of the 13-18 year olds they were while they were falling in love (and apart.) I think telling their story that way let us feel a bit like we were insiders to the relationship like those closest to them were, and were going "How the heck did this childhood sweetheart love story that I would've bet my last dollar would be endgame turn into two people who can barely be in the same room together?" It was definitely a rewarding journey watching them find their way back to being the love-sick teens under the tree again.

I think The Wells Ranch series has just gotten better as it has continued, this is absolutely my favorite so far. DENVER WELLS, the man that you are. And Blair? she is so raw and relatable.

This book is heavy and romantic and everything in between. Just as I was giggling and kicking my feet, I was also an emotional wreck throughout this entire book.

I am absolutely obsessed and head over heels for our two main characters. Their communication, their passion, their banter, the "five seconds of honesty" bit. I loved every part of their dynamic. Their love for each other and their dedication to one another will stay in my heart forever. I especially loved the flashbacks as they gave so much depth and insight to Denver and Blair and everything that they went and were going through. I felt like I was really growing up with them as the story went on. Going through their whole relationship gave me all the feels.

All in all, I absolutely LOVED this. This book destroyed and healed my soul all at once and I fear I may never be the same and I am perfectly okay with that. I will genuinely and truly think about this book forever.

The way I screamed when NG & RH approved my request for Change of Hart!!!

I tore through the series, intending to read Change of Hart closer to release date, but I started Wells Ranch and couldn't stop. Having read all three one right after the other, I can tell you with 100% certainty that DenverBlair are my faves. I love them so bad, and genuinely I'm so picky about second chance romances!!!

I truly adore the way Bailey writes, from her voice to the intricacies she weaves into her stories.

I love a good cowboy story, so I took a chance on this one even though I had not read anything by Bailey Hannah before. I'm so glad I did! Change of Hart was full of tension and drew me in right from the start. I absolutely loved it!

I loved Change of Hart! I adored the characters, and getting to see their depth as the story progressed. I loved the snippets of going back in time, and I thought the reason for the original breakup, since this is a second chance story, was very believable and spot on for their situation. I also loved getting to return to Wells Ranch and hear more about some of my favorite characters. I waited for what felt like forever for Denny & Blair’s story and it was so worth the wait!
