*Change of Hart* is a heartfelt, second-chance romance that blends small-town charm with big emotional stakes. Bailey Hannah delivers a tender, slow-burn story full of longing, forgiveness, and just the right touch of cowboy swagger. Blair and Denver’s journey is layered with heartbreak, healing, and undeniable chemistry that will have you rooting for them from page one. Perfect for fans of returning-home stories and love that refuses to fade, this debut is a warm hug in book form—and a reminder that some hearts are worth the risk.

I have never cried and smiled more than I did while reading this book 😊 My mom literally asked me if I was okay. I most definitely was not okay.

This is a second chance, cowboy romance that is the 3rd book in the Wells Ranch series. I absolutely loved Alive and Wells and Seeing Red. Change of Hart is no different. This book has everything you could want in a second-chance romance. We get to alternate between present time and past time to read all about the budding romance between a young Denver Wells and Blair Hart while they were children, as well as see all that was happening on Wells Ranch. This way of writing really made me feel like I was at Wells Ranch and was watching this family grow and fall apart all at once. It was such an immersive feeling, which definitely got the emotions flowing.

"Good thing I'm ready to prove I can be trusted with your heart."

Denver Wells loves with his whole being. He puts everyone first and is determined to prove himself again to the woman he has loved since he was 13. This feisty cowboy put me through the ringer in this book. He made me love him, hate him, and wish I were Blair all at the same time. He fights for what he wants, and there are so many little moments throughout this book that prove that.

"Fuck my fears - my heart is screwed anyway."

Blair Hart fell in love with Denver because of the small moments. She found herself being able to rely on him for everything, even when she didn't want to. She left to go to college, and a lot changed for her. I was pretty mad at her for leaving the dreamiest cowboy, but I think she needed it. She learned how to be herself, and now she can let Denver take care of her as she needs. I have always been a Cecily fan. She is one of my favorite FMCs ever, but Blair and her determination to do everything (very much like myself) may just give Cecily a run for her money.

"She loved you for longer than you realize, and she'll be back."

One of my favorite things about this story is the flashback chapters. I love getting to see Wells Ranch when Grandpa Wells, Lucy, and Bennett were still on the ranch, living it up. These chapters brought me the most joy and sadness all at the same time.

This book is one of my favorite books that I have read this year. It has everything you could ever want, and you will not be disappointed. I was sent this book as an ARC, and let me tell you, I will definitely be buying this book when it comes out on May 27th. If you are looking for a spicy cowboy romance, then all of the books in the Wells Ranch series are an awesome choice especially Change of Hart.

I LOVED this it may be my favorite in the wells ranch series. I'm generally not a fan of second chance romance but this was done so well. Bailey Hannah masterfully wove together more serious, real life topics with some fun spice.

Bailey Hannah delivers a heartfelt, emotional romance in Change of Heart—a story about unexpected love, vulnerability, and learning to let someone in even when your past tells you not to.

At the center of this story is a guarded heroine who’s convinced that love isn’t in the cards for her—and a hero who patiently, persistently proves her wrong. Their dynamic is beautifully layered: equal parts emotional tension, gentle humor, and real-life vulnerability. The chemistry between them feels earned, not rushed, and the emotional growth both characters go through is deeply satisfying.

Hannah has a talent for writing realistic, flawed characters who feel like people you know—messy, resilient, and quietly hopeful. The pacing is steady, the romance slow-burn, and when the payoff comes, it’s so worth it. It’s the kind of book that sneaks up on you with its depth, wrapping you up in a story that’s tender without being overly sweet.

thank you to netgalley and books for the arc! i was so excited to read about denny’s blair since book 2 hehe. it was a cute read and i enjoyed seeing denny mature/wise up when he saw blair was back in town. i wish we got to see more groveling or a grand gesture since denny was always saying he was going to get his girl back, but at the same time it was a relief knowing he didn’t do something irredeemable. but reading denny’s thoughts was chefs kiss and i loved how much he loved blair. 3.5 stars

OH. MY. GOD.... I absolutely ate this up. im pretty sure I read this in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. Denver.... oh man where do I even start. Im not usually one for second chance romances. but this one?? damn was it done right! there was communication, honestly, no third act breakup... and a little bit of this man giving it all to a woman he loved after more than a decade of being a part.

with the way the two of them grew up... they loved HARD. they loved fast. and they knew they would live their lives out together.... but then the incident.... the way they blew up... and learning all those years later that all they needed was each other. it was a beautiful story...

once she had to move home, and was convinced he hated her for what had gone down.... she quickly learned that wasn't the case at all. He was still smitten, even though he had given up hope of ever seeing her again after it all.... and so was she, even if she was slow to admit it. But this book, and their story had me a SOBBING mess for the entire second half. this is definitely my favorite of the series. and can't wait to see more.

actually devoured this spicy small town cowboy second chance romance, what else do i need? this flashes back to Blair and Denver’s relationship throughout their teenage years and when she comes back to town over a decade later. Blair comes home to take care of her mother who was dementia and Denny sees this as a sign and literally will NOT stop until they’re back together, man is relentless. so cute and good spice and Chestnut Springs type of found family, third book in the series and the writing just gets better!!

Okay. This one got to me. It handled subjects that are so heavy but so close to my heart as well. I cried like 3 times which IS A LOT FOR ME. I loved Denver and I understood Blair and her motivations and hesitations. They were all going through a lot but like that’s how life is. I do wish we could have *seen* more of Denny’s character development rather than him just magically being a well-rounded, all-in, therapized man as soon as she comes back in his life. When it comes down to it, love *isn’t* all you need. Life is a lot easier to go through when you have your person by your side, but happily ever after is something you work through day by day, not something that is magically achieved. But sometimes it’s nice to read a fairytale.

The topics in this book were HEAVY but they were done well and I appreciated that Hannah was not afraid to dive in.

I finished Change of Hart today and it is a MASTERPIECE. Best read of the year so far. Couldn’t put it down and it was so viscerally emotional in all the best ways with nostalgia and grief and hope and comfort. I know it’s not easy to cover really difficult topics with sensitivity and Bailey Hannah does so masterfully here.

This book is for you if you like:
-First loves and second chances
-“It’s always been you”
-Open door scenes that are as tender and emotional as they are hot 🥵
-Found family
-Home is a person, not a place

Fans of “Left of Forever” by Tarah DeWitt or “Happy Place” by Emily Henry will devour this book! You don’t want to miss this.

Blair moves back home to help her mom who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Blair left Wells Canyon a decade earlier to forget her hometown and ex boyfriend. Denver sees Blair for the first time in thirteen years at the rodeo and he is knocked off the saddle and is taken by ambulance with Blair by his side. Denver wants Blair to know that he still loves her and wants to be with her forever. He will be by her side through the good and ugly times. Blair doesn’t know if she can trust Denver to be there when she needs him.

It was such a honor for this to be the first arc I have ever received because it was one of my most anticipated reads for this year! Blair and Denny… gosh where do I start? These two hold such a special place in my heart and I am so glad they found their way back to each other. Second chance romance is becoming one of my favorite tropes. Their love story was everything to me. No miscommunication and mature resolution and never ending love. What more could you want in a book? This book covered many hard topics and Bailey’s writing made you feel so connected like you were there a part of the family and a part of their relationship. Again, I am so thankful for having received this arc. I cried so much throughout this book and I cannot wait until Whit and Colt’s book comes out 😭🩵

"I don’t know… the only time I’ve seen you get on a bronc recently, you fell off.”
"Has nothing to do with my writing skills. I’d have gone pro if I was shorter.”
"Right. So what’s the excuse for why you fell off?”
"I saw you.”

This is a cute cowboy romance. I liked reading how the Denver is a bull rider. The chemistry between Denver and Blair was everything. I loved all of the angst in this book. If you like second chance romance and flashbacks, you’re going to love this one!

Hell yes, we're heading back to Wells Ranch! I should have known from the beginning this would be a 5-star read since [book:Seeing Red|222246115] had me in a book hangover for a full week, but somehow I still went into this one skeptical. Listen: I was wrong. This book had everything and more - grief, angst, romance, laughs, and of course toe-curling smut in great abundance. I already loved goofy Denver from the previous books but reading this one and finding out it's all a front and he's harboring some deep inner Sad Boi energy? Loved it. I also loved how far gone he was for Blair, who is also putting on a really good facade of keeping it all together when in actuality everything in her life is a hot mess. This was dual POV and dual timeline which is sometimes annoying for me but in this case I think the "past" chapters were woven in so well and were so necessary I can't imagine the story without them. I also really appreciated that [author:Bailey Hannah|44752930] didn't get super graphic with the "losing their virginity" scene - it gives me big time heebies when authors detail anything spicy between some underage teens and I was more than happy to avoid it. I don't know if it's because I was in my luteal phase or what but this read even made me shed a few tears, which almost never happens! I feel like this story broke my heart into pieces (more than once!) and then put it back together better than ever. 5/5 go read it now!

4.5⭐, 3🌶️

"Somehow - by some stroke of fate or luck... maybe both - I've been given the opportunity to love this man twice in a single lifetime."

I don't know why I forgot how emotional Alive and Wells and Seeing Red were, because I went to this book ready for a cutey cowboy romance and ...well... lets just say I feel like Bailey threw my into the laundry dryer because I was tossed and turned and went through it. Both of the parents stories were detailed to give alllll the emotional impact (D's mom is a literal gift in this book. And her last convo with him had me BALLING!)

DENVER AND BLAIR! Their love was beautiful, and mature and just wonderful. I'm not typically a second chance romance girly, but I simped for Denver no matter what 18 year old him did (but like he was in a hard time and its a valid response). Blair's commitment and obligation to her family is just beautiful and what I would give to be her bestie. I loved getting all the other Wells family members popping into this book and Denver and Red's history (iykyk) had me giggling so much.

"I've never stopped loving Blair. Now I know for certain that I never will. I wish I didnt have to go the last fourteen years without her, left only with a toxic habit of constantly reliving every moment we shared. Begging the universe to turn back time, so I could have her back.

What its about:
They met when they were children, and what was just innocent friendship soon blossomed into something more- but when life gets in the way they part ways. Flash forward fourteen years, and she’s moved back into town to take care of her mother. Seeing her from the back of a bronc at the rodeo, he decides not to waste this opportunity- she’s back and now she’s it.

My Review:
Normally a second chance romance isn’t something for me- but what I’ve learned is that every second chance before Change of Hart wasn't for me. Not only was this story beautiful, but the intricacies of their lives, family, friends, and experiences play so wonderfully into the story. This book is not only realistic, but it pulls on your heart strings, keeps you captivated, and rooting for the couple to find their way through it all, back to one another.

Favorite Quote:
”But I fell in love with Blair once before, and I had that bliss for years. Now? I’m not falling. That sounds too accidental for what I’m doing. I’m jumping in headfirst, praying she loves my level of crazy and jumps with me.”

Denver + Blair.. Let’s just say this is my favorite book of the series so far. This book has a lot of heart ache and triggers but so many real life scenarios that made it that much better. I will list the triggers below but also check the book.

Blair and Denver have been best friends since the age of 13, fell in love, experienced heart ache and reconnected. They hit many hard moments early in life with parent loss , unexpected pregnancy with a hard decision and Blair moving away to college. After being apart for 14 years while they both tried to get over each other and not realizing they were each still in love with each other, Blair moves back home to take care of her sick mom and Denver is determined to show Blair he is still in love with her and ready to be there and take care of her.

Finding their way back to each other wasn’t easy but the story is beautiful. It can be read as a standalone but is the third book in the wells ranch series.
