According to the introduction of The Catechist’s Toolbox 2.0, this book is a retooling of The Catechist’s Toolbox published in 2007. The updated edition includes use of technological tools for teaching Catholic faith formation. It also explores effective teaching methods aimed at overcoming the challenges of teaching in the 21st century. The teaching guide is witty, easy to follow, and overflows with useful information. The layout is organized and well presented. In case you are worried about information overload you will find the quotation inserts and cartoons a fun breather. This is a wonderful manual for all who are involved in the faith formation of those entering the Catholic Church. I would like to thank NetGalley for providing a copy of this book for an unbiased and truthful review. #netgalley

The Catechist’s Toolbox 2.0 is packed with information, tools, and resources for those who are teaching Church tradition and doctrine. I enjoyed all the parallels to the art of building and starting with tools, laying the foundation, and fine tuning the work. All the subtle nuances like conversation starters, going deeper, and how to troubleshoot are all included. It truly is skills, tips, and advice for discipleship. The layout is easy to follow with helpful callouts, entertaining graphics, and digestible sections. There are QR codes throughout that take the reader to short video clips that provide more detailed examples or descriptions. Learning principles, use of technology and multiple suggestions for integration are provided. Whether this is being used in a preparatory manner or a refresher primer, it is an excellent tool to instruct, challenge, and encourage those who are helping to lay the foundations of doctrine and Tradition.
