This was so wonderful!! This felt like a grown up romance. I absolutely LOVED Sawyer & Mason! I love the cheesy book trope list. I always love books about books & Unromance did not disappoint,
I think what I loved most was the spice…it just felt so real. It was sexy & romantic. It wasn’t vulgar & dirty, This is a stellar debut & I cannot wait to read more!

I loved the premise of this one, enjoyed the fact that Sawyer is a chaotic bi female main character and that Mason is just a giant simp. I really enjoyed their chemistry, their banter and the amount of trauma and heaviness that was laced within this romcom story. But ultimately I found it incredibly difficult to enjoy any of this through the narration. The male narrator has a voice that I simply hate when it comes to narration. His s’s were too harsh and long, tone was too delicate and high and I could hear the spit in his mouth as he spoke. It made the entire story difficult to become immersed in, especially when it come to serious or intimate scenes. I will be giving this book a try through another format (kindle or paperback), but I cannot rate this higher than a three star rating based on this medium and choice of narrator - more work needs to be done in choosing narrators that suit their roles and this one was a miss. Sawyer’s narrator was incredible though! Definitely had the right amount of sass, wit and tone behind her voice to convey the character well.

I was absolutely loving this one for most of the first half but in the middle it really started to drag on. I think the author used every single trope in the romcom area. It felt a little like been there done that. And I wanted more character development. I lost interest unfortunately

Unromance is a debut novel from Erin Connor. Special thanks to NetGalley, Erin Connor and Hachette audio for advance access to the audio version. Narrators are Mia Hutchinson Shaw and Lee Osorio who both did a fantastic job.

Unromance is a charming and fun rom-com filled with all your favorite rom-com tropes. I loved this book. The main characters (Sawyer and Mason) were fantastic, the storyline was engaging, and I enjoyed all the references to classic rom-com stories..

The perfect read to kick off the month of love: Unromance.

Sawyer is a bestselling romance author but after her ex left she’s been stuck in a season of writers block. However, when dropping off books to a friend, she gets stuck in an elevator with Mason. She takes the opportunity not as a meet cute but for a fun one night stand. But Sawyer keeps running into Mason. Mason sees these run ins as a chance to cure one another from him being a hopeless romantic and to help her writers block by unromancing romance cliches- the Christmas tree farm date, ice skating, etc. they just have two rules - no more sex and no falling in love.

This was such a fun read and while trying to break down romance cliches it also appreciated all the fun parts of romance books and films. I did find it seems to move quickly for the first two thirds of the book and then we encountered a lot of the two MCs having conflict. Overall though I loved seeing mason and Sawyer navigate IKEA dates and family dinners trying not to catch feelings.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Thank you to @netgalley and @readforeverpub for the ALC and ARC as I enjoyed moving back and forth between the audio and digital copies.

Unromance was so fun with Sawyer and Mason after their elevator meet cute. Sawyer is a romance author and takes Mason through all the tropes of romance stories. They had such good banter and even those this was a lovey dovey story, it was sweet to have them fall in love without even really realizing that it was happening. I love a he falls first trope and the elevator meet cute was a fun addition! I liked the female narrator and the male narrator was fine, but just not what I expected him to sound like so that took a little getting used to.

Thanks so much for the ARC!

This was a fun audiobook!

We follow Sawyer, an author, as she finds her way back to herself after a bad breakup. She’s lost in her work that she’s not even sure is worth it. But she also is behind on her advance and lacking in the inspiration.

She meets Mason in an elevator. They have a one night stand. Or so they think…Until fate interferes. He’s got a reputation to fix and she needs a muse. They decide to use each other to figure themselves out. Always a fun trope!

The banter was fun and I enjoyed the way the story was told on dual POVs. It was a fun romance!

Unromance was a fun premise - a romance author, Sawyer, with writer's block has a meet-cute with an actor, Mason, who falls too easily. It was fun to have Sawyer and Mason going through popular romance tropes in a fresh way. I enjoyed the well done bisexual representation. I wished for a bit more tension between the main characters and that the fake dating was played up a bit more, but overall this was an enjoyable rom-com binge.

Mia Hutchinson Shaw did a great job narrating Sawyer and I thought her voice suited this character well. Lee Osorio is a great audiobook narrator, but sometimes it didn't feel like his voice fit Mason. Since he was a hot TV doctor, I was expecting a deeper, flirty tone and so sometimes that pulled me out of the story. I do think Lee did a great job with inflection and is a good narrator, it was just specifically the character of Mason I was expecting something else.

Thank you Hachette Audio | Forever for the audio copy through NetGalley.

Cue… elevator meet cute to one night stand that leads into so much more! This is such a cute and funny romance of two people falling in love without even really realizing it! I loved the idea of a romance author, Sawyer, trying to ‘ruin romance’ for the actor that falls in love too much, Mason, one trope at a time. Not to mention, the narrator perfectly capture the banter between the characters! This is a perfect valentines read!!!

Thank you Net Galley and Hatchet Audio

Yes, yes, yes! This was such a delight! I generally don't love to reach romances with rich people, but this is the exception to the rule. After an elevator meet cute and a one night stand between a romance author and a soap opera star.... they decide to make it more than just one night!

Not to mention, the narrator perfectly captures the banter between the two of them!

I wanted to love this one so much, but there was absolutely no chemistry between the main characters it was unbearable. Also, the reason for them fake dating was very underwhelming. The third act breakup was really ridiculous.

ohhhhh this was fun.

Is the outcome predictable from page 1? YEP. Did it ruin or hinder the joy along the way? NOPE.

This is such a fun, funny, and cute romance of two people falling in love without even really realizing it! I loved the idea of a romance author trying to ‘ruin romance’ for him one trope at a time.

It was really cute, but also the banter was bantering. I was laughing, giggling, swooning and having the best time ever page.

the narration was really well done and added to the overall story for me.

You’re gonna find SO MANY tropes here:
📖 One Night Stand
📕 Friends to Lovers
📖 Grumpy / Sunshine
📕 He Falls First
📖 Elevator Meet Cute
📕 Dual 3rd person POV
📖 Author / Actor

It was really a great time & if you’re looking for something low pressure, fun & a super bingable read - def pick this up!

𝐒𝐚𝐰𝐲𝐞𝐫, a bestselling author going through the dreaded writer's block, is adamant about avoiding love and focusing on writing her novel. Along comes Mason, a handsome actor known for his romantic escapades in the media, but in reality, he is a hopeless romantic. Mason’s persistence in breaking down Sawyer’s walls ultimately leads to a very cute romance between the two.

𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲, I am not drawn to romance novels told in the third person, as I feel it creates a disconnect between the reader and the story. However, in this case, it surprisingly worked for me and I found myself completely invested in the story.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 audiobook version of this story truly brought it to life. With Mia Hutchinson Shaw's and Lee Osorio’s dual narration, the characters of Mason and Sawyer were portrayed beautifully.

𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥, if you are searching for a fresh and heartfelt love story, this is a great choice!

As a lover of romance tropes, the premise of this book was so much fun. I enjoyed the beginning and the characters a lot and think this is a great, super easy read. I wish it were slightly less predictable to make it more enjoyable - I just found the reasoning behind their fake dating to be a bit underwhelming.

Unromance had a promising premise—a jaded romance writer, a charming actor, and a no-strings-attached agreement that predictably spirals into something more. Unfortunately, the execution didn’t live up to the setup.

The entire story felt forced. Instead of a natural, slow-burning connection, the plot relied heavily on rom-com tropes without giving the characters the depth to make them feel real. Sawyer and Mason’s dynamic should have been fun and engaging, but instead, it felt contrived. Their chemistry never quite clicked, and without strong character development, their journey lacked the emotional weight to make me care about their inevitable happy ending.

While there were a few lighthearted moments, overall, the book felt more like a series of staged romantic scenarios rather than an organic love story. If you're looking for a rom-com that delivers genuine connection and character growth, this one might not be the best pick.

Unromance by Erin Conner is a light, fast-paced read that's perfect for anyone looking for an easy escape. The story moves quickly, making it a great pick for a weekend binge. However, it's pretty predictable from start to finish. While the characters and setting are charming, there's not much in terms of surprises or twists, which might leave readers craving something a bit more unpredictable. Still, if you're after a cozy, no-stress romance, this could be a fun option to unwind with.

The ultimate romance read, even for those who are not the usual "converts"! I have always been a fairly loyal women's fiction/thriller/non-fiction reader - it takes a lot to intrigue me with reads outside those usual genres. The concept of this book was so good and had me hooked! The two protagonists are so likeable and the opposite of "flat". Each chapter begins with the name of a common trope, which the chapter then dabbles in (in an organic way that makes sense with the rest of the plot) - this really kept me engaged and turning the page, as I'd figure it was time to stop and go to bed, but then the next heading would reel me back in! I recommend enthusiastically to all romance readers and non-romance readers alike :)

This was especially fun on audio, with excellent narrators!

For lovers of romcoms. The narrators made this novel an enjoyed read. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I love this book, it has everything it needs to be a fantastic weekend read. I will say I think this only needed the female narrator. I preferred her "male" voice over the actual male narrator. He just didn't fit who I pictured for the MMC and it threw the whole book off for me.

I’ve seen so many good reviews for this book so I was excited to get the audio arc! This book was so funny yet also had more serious parts as well.

Mason is an actor who has recently been dumped by his actress girlfriend. He is determined to stay out of the tabloids by staying single for a while. He meets Sawyer in an elevator meet cute, which leads to an out of this world one night stand. When they happen to run into one another again, Sawyer decides to ruin romance tropes for him. The only rules: no feelings and no sex.

I enjoyed both characters in this book. Sawyer cracked me up so many times. Mason was a huge cinnamon roll and so sweet. They both were dealing with their own grief from past relationships but Sawyer was struggling the most with it and I liked seeing her growth.

I listened to the audiobook for this and I enjoyed the female narrator but I don’t know that the male narrator was the right voice for Mason. He just sounded so young and timid and that’s not how Mason was described in the book.
