“You’re not fine, but you’re not broken either. Fear isn’t a measure of cowardice, and pain isn’t a measure of weakness. You are brave and strong and anything but broken.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 (rounded up for rating scale)
🌶️ - there is discussion of sex on page but everything is fade to black. I would say this is upper YA. There is romance but nothing really explicit.
Between These Broken Hearts was the perfect way to wrap up the whole world of These Hollow Vows. The stakes are high in this final installment and the pace oa very quick and action-packed.
Jasalyn and Felicity are both strong FMCs who overcome a lot of obstacles and grow throughout the books. This is a great fae fantasy romance series.
Thank you to Harper Collins Storytide for the e-arc. All opinions are my own.

For the ones who feel trapped in their darkest night. I see you.
Take my hand. We’ll wait for the sun together.
Thank you to HarperCollins Children's Books and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I had such a good time reading this duology in the world and land of Faerie after the These Hollow Vows series. I had loved the original duology and was excited to see the world expanded through the eyes of the characters I had been introduced previously.
I read Beneath These Cursed Stars and Between These Broken Hearts one after the other and *inhaled* both of them - these are some great romantasy new adult books and the *vibes* are immaculate. In this duology we get to follow two budding couples and they both get more intense in Between These Broken Hearts. The romance in these is truly intertwined into the plot, there really isn’t a way we could separate them, but that’s also what makes the story so delicious.
Primarily, we get two POVs between Jasalyn and Felicity, which correspond to the two storylines that are happening in parallel and the two romances that are also happening in parallel. Of course, Jasalyn and her powers and her growth (they are definitely tied!) are more of the main story and the main ending, but I couldn’t get enough of Mischa and Felicity who end up having a heavy hand in the end plot as well - the two storylines do end up converging in a very satisfying way. I really appreciated how Jasalyn’s mental health struggles and trauma were written, they felt real to me and so so relatable as well, I teared up in so many parts with her and it’s a reason why this book is so special for me. Felicity’s growth and acceptance of herself and her worth was really lovely to watch too.
None of these characters are ever displayed as perfect, but they are all capable and lean into their strength and vulnerability even in the hardest moments. The plot is fast paced, with twists and turns, and I could not put it down and had such a great time!
Lexi Ryan has a way of writing new adult romantasy that keeps me so captivated and addicted, I would love more books in this world!
Overall, I would highly recommend it if you like new adult romantasy, if you read (and loved!) These Hollow Vows duology and if you faster paced vibey reads!

Not my personal favorite of the series but a good conclusion to a great ya fantasy series! I personally think my opinion is skewed as I'm not the biggest Jasalyn fan.

Another emotionally-charged romance that balances sizzling chemistry with deep emotional stakes. I knew I was in for a rollercoaster of feelings, and this one really delivered. It dives deep into themes of grief, healing, and finding your way back to yourself after something shatters your world, which I found incredibly compelling. The atmosphere felt intense and raw, pulling me into the characters' struggles right from the start.
Ryan's writing style is just so good at capturing raw emotion. The pacing kept me completely hooked and it unfolded in a way that slowly revealed layers of secrets and heartbreak,

Warning: contains spoilers!
Eight months after the events of the previous book, Between These Broken Hearts dials up the tension to 11-- eleven days, that is, until Jas dies and Mordeus can officially come back from the dead using her body as proxy. Meanwhile, Felicity has been kidnapped by her twin brother, unable to escape the illusion of a reality where he is her closest friend and confidante, and where she and Misha are openly in love with each other. With their lives, realms, and love on the line, Jas and Felicity have to confront their darkest fears and their perception of themselves in order to prevent everything they love from ruin.
The story flows very easily, and it's an enjoyable read. I love watching Jas and Felicity come into their own even more, accepting who they were not just out of necessity, but because they actually enjoyed being themselves. Especially as someone who has experienced self-confidence issues, anxiety and depression herself, seeing these strong women accept themselves felt like gentle self care.
Ultimately, I did enjoy the novel, but certain elements felt very convenient and lacked real tension.
The time jump at the beginning makes sense in terms of making things more dire, but felt odd, as our two FMCs seem to essentially have been dormant for all that time. Konnor and Sol being "good guys" seemed all too easy, but as we get basically no context for what's happening in Elora other than what our main characters tells us, it's not difficult to move on from. Similarly, the final battle is exciting, but I never thought any of the core group were in real danger.
I'd absolutely recommend this book to anyone who needs a conclusion after that brutal cliffhanger from Beneath These Cursed Stars, wants more of the world of Our Hollow Vows, or simply wants a nice, light romantasy read. If you're looking for something with great depth or existential quandaries, I'd direct you elsewhere.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Storytide for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review!

3.5 Stars!
Beneath These Broken Hearts is a good conclusion to not only this duology, but to the stories and worlds we have been following since These Hollow Vows. The story picks up right where we left off, and the plot unfolds as a journey of forgiveness, strength, healing, and determination that carries through to the very end. I just wish there was more - more to the journey, more depth to the relationships, more of an epic battle that these books have led up to. Overall, fans of Lexi Ryan and this series will be satisfied with this ending!
Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins Children’s Books for this ARC!

Between These Broken Hearts delivers a powerful and emotional finale to Lexi Ryan’s fae saga, blending forbidden romance, dark prophecy, and high-stakes battles. Jasalyn’s race against time and her tender, slow-burn connection with Kendrick offer tension and heart, while Felicity’s journey through isolation and fate brings a quieter, haunting strength; her bond with Misha is both heartbreaking and healing. Though some twists come quickly, the payoff is worth it, wrapping the series with sacrifice, love, and just enough hope.

This was a solid conclusion to the duology! If you've made it this far in this universe (second book in a second series) I expect this won't let you down. I do wish I'd reread the first series and the first book in the duology, because it took me embarrassingly long to remember who everyone was and what their relationships were to each other.
I feel like Jas's big reveal came out of left field and I do wish that the lore had been nodded at throughout the earlier books, or at least during Beneath These Cursed Stars. Although who knows, if I reread maybe I'll find them now that I know to look for it.
Overall, had a good time and cried a little at the end.
Thank you Storytide for the free book!

4.5/5
Two words. King. Misha.
I loved this conclusion, though not more than Book 1.
I was obsessed with Misha and Felicity’s storyline, and struggled a little with Jas and Kendrick (Hale? I did not like the continuation of the dual name).
Misha’s change toward Felicity through her own eyes was so fun because as a reader you can SEE that he’s had the time to come around and you already have that seed planted from Book 1 that he’s been dreaming of her but homegirl has no clue and it’s the best. Watching her become her true self was so satisfying and watching her find that people do care for HER and not because she’s related to someone else or useful is incredibly poignant.
Misha’s saucier side was greatly appreciated and had me kicking and screaming every time.
Jas was harder because so much of her development happened in Book 1 and it felt like she regressed in less believable ways to make it work. I found myself slightly annoyed when I had to get through a Jas chapter to get back to Lis.
And then for our fourth MC, he’s just Ken(drick). Honestly he kinda bored me. I expected a little more from him and for there to be more secrets, more with Crissa, more SOMETHING and he was just largely the one chasing down Jas when she runs away. Repeatedly.
I did struggle somewhat with the conflicts. It felt like several were introduced so late to make the stakes higher rather than focusing on what was already present.
I loved that Lis’s goblin cared for her enough to make sure she was taken care of but her new goblin felt like a bit of a cop out in terms of info dump and world building but just giving it all up.
Overall, I actually think this needed more pages to cook and would have been a better trilogy than a duo, but I’m so thankful to have gotten to meet these characters and their journeys.

I am so glad I read this!
The 3rd book (1st in this duology) really wasn’t doing it for me.
But Felicity and Misha are my whole heart!
I will always think of this series as something special because I haven’t felt like this since reading FOTA.
Brie was my fav until Felicity. Her and Mishas romance is so believable.
I am very content with the ending to this series.

For some reason, this second installment simply didn't connect with me. The time skip was unwelcome and the general appeal of the first book felt lost and muddied in this one. Happy that my favorite characters are well, but overall just a bit disappointed in the series as a whole.

Had to DNF this unfortunately. I absolutely love the first book in this series and liked the second but every one after that hasn’t stuck with me.
Excited for whatever her next series or standalone is though!

Full of drama, family tension and secrets, a deliciously forbidden romance, and a dozen other little things that make this book perfect, Between These Broken Hearts is unforgettable.

Being able to step back into this world was so fun and so amazing! Lexi Ryan is a special author to me as These Hollow Vows is one of my favorite duologues of all time! Being able to step into this final journey was so beautiful and special. I will always say that Lexi's worlds are so special an unique with their characters and magical system that you are never not in for a magical time!

Duology Conclusion
I enjoyed the conclusion to this duology. We got a fast past story, that picks up after book 3, about 8 months after. I of course have favorites (Felicity) but both sides of the story I found to be captivating and fitting within the wondrous world that Lexi has created. I'm gonna have to come back for a full re-read. I do find that a lot of YA books feel more predictable to me but that isn't a deterrent for me here as the journey to getting there in itself is fun. Lexi has wonderful writing, and I'm so glad to have gotten to read this book.
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the gifted eARC.

4-4.5 stars. Between These Broken Hearts picks up where Beneath These Cursed Stars left the main characters. We follow along with Jasalyn who is linked to the evil King Mordeus through a magic ring as she is trying to defeat the even king before her eighteenth birthday. Felicity deceived the wild fae King Misha but is still in love with him and needs his help. The two FMCs work together and with their friends to help unite the kingdom and destroy the evil fae.
I enjoyed this book more than the previous one in the series. I liked having two strong FMCs who are so different. The story is full of twists and turns. It was a fun read!
Thank you to Harper Collins for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Rating; 3.5/5. Reading Age: 17+
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Harper Collins publishing for providing me with the arc of this book!!
Between these broken hearts picks up right where we left off after Beneath these Cursed stars following Felicity and Jasalyn in their next adventures. Beneath these cursed stars left on a big cliffhanger and it was certainly entertaining to see where the story would go next.
That being said right off the bat we find out there’s been a time jump since the last book, and I think that’s what threw me off a bit in this story. I missed the found family elements and adventures we got from Jasalyn’s perspective in the first book. Again I found myself more invested in Felicity’s side of the story and was a bit disappointed to see she didn’t have as many chapters compared to Jasalyn.
Overall, it was still a good conclusion to the duology and there were a couple plot points that surprised me. I would definitely recommend to anyone who read the These Hollow Vows duology or Twin Crowns.

This was a good follow up to the first book in the spin off series. I did struggle getting into this one though . I really don't like 2 pov/plot line books. Every book I read like this, even shows like this, fall flat for me. I know that works for some people, so I'm not rating solely based off that. I did really like the story but also I get frustrated with the push and pull of love interests. I do love the magic system of these books and the banter between Misha and Felicity, but I was annoyed with Jas. Overall I do recommend this read if you have read the previous books.
Thank you netgalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the first two books in this series but I just couldn’t get into this one. I was bored and it was so easy to put it down and go do something else.

I was so happy this book picked up right where the last one left off! It made it really easy to get back into the story. Overall, I thought it was a really good read. There were a few parts that fell a little flat to me, which is why it’s 4 stars instead of 5.
That being said, I loved how everything wrapped up. No loose ends or unanswered questions, which I always appreciate in a series finale.
I’ve really enjoyed this whole series and will definitely be checking out more books by Lexi Ryan!
