I love this world and these characters so much. The mental health rep in this was done so incredibly well. *SPOILERS AHEAD* There are so many different facets of depression but this was done in a very intimate and dark way. Not something I usually see in books. Most of the time it's overcoming and coming out pain free on the other side. This story shows that it might not go away and be pain free, but that doesn't mean it's not worth the journey.

I'll read anything by Lexi Ryan. Her storytelling is top tier. Thank you so much to Harper Collins and Netgalley for the arc!

“Between These Broken Hearts” is the breathtaking, soul-shattering conclusion we didn’t know we needed—but Lexi Ryan knew. And she delivered it perfectly.

First and foremost, thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins Children’s Books for the eARC in exchange for my honest review. And to Lexi Ryan—a massive hug and even bigger thank you for gifting readers this story back in 2021. I’m writing this through tears because this is it. The end. And I already know these characters—especially Jasalyn—will stay with me forever.

This book picks up exactly where “Beneath These Cursed Stars” left off: Jasalyn has uncovered Kendrick’s betrayal and vanished, while Felicity—our beloved shapeshifting Echo who wore Jasalyn’s face for so long—is locked in Misha’s dungeon, punished for not revealing who she truly was. The stakes have never been higher. Jasalyn has eleven days to live.

The danger is real, the clock is ticking, and the emotions? Gutting.

Jasalyn’s arc throughout this series is one of the most powerful I’ve ever read. From the frightened, uncertain girl we met in “These Hollow Vows”, to the weapon she becomes by the final pages of “Between These Broken Hearts”—her transformation is complete. It’s fierce. It’s fiery. It’s the kind of growth that shakes you. Honestly? If she had a theme song, it would absolutely be Taylor Swift’s Look What You Made Me Do. Because Jasalyn? She rose. And she didn’t just survive—she owned her power.

Then there's Felicity and Misha, whose story broke and mended my heart over and over again. The heartbreak, the hope, the impossible choices—it all felt so real. I was fully immersed in the heartbreak of fate vs. free will, and the tenderness of love found in the most unlikely places.

This book was intense. Emotionally, politically, magically—it never let up. And I loved every second of it. The twists were sharp, the pacing unrelenting, and the payoff so beautifully earned.

I was granted early access to this book at the end of last year, but waited to read it closer to publication because I review by date. And though it took a while to get here—it was worth every minute. This series is one I will return to again and again.

Lexi Ryan, thank you. For the world you built, the love you wrote, and the strength you gave to these unforgettable characters. I’m going to miss them so much.

But wow… what a goodbye. 💔✨

After the ending of the first book, I knew I needed to know how this story ended. I was wondering how it would go when worlds collided. I loved watching Jas find herself through this book. I liked how everything played out.

I really wanted to love this book, but it fell flat for me. It has a great premise, but the execution falls short of its mark.

Jasalyn wakes up 8 months from where the previous book ended. She has 11 days left to live thanks to the bargain she made. In that week and half, she has to figure out how to get out of that bargain and save all her friends. Felicity is found (and surprise!) woken up from a stasis right about the same time Jsalyn wakes up. Did we just decide to skip ahead 8 months in an attempt to make it more suspenseful?

I must admit that the writing in this book felt rushed. The plot devices used felt lazy. There is so much tell and not show. This is supposed to be an angsty book, but I did not feel the emotional turmoil of the characters. Yeah, it was written out on paper, but the writing style does not make me feel it. Oh, and the plot holes left me scratching my head, and saying, "huh?" or "how?" a whole lot.

Thank you to NetGalley for a free eArc in exchange of an honest review!

Lexi Ryan did it again!! I absolutely loved this duology. I think it was the perfect subseries for These Hollow Vows! It’s been a while since I read the first 2, but this duology was written so well that I didn’t notice how much I forgot! My one issue was that the middle of the book got a little slow, but I still really enjoyed it and highly recommend!

I love Lexi Ryan and I love this series. I fell in love with the works she built in These Hollow Vows and These Twisted Bonds so I was excited to continue the series in Beneath These Cursed Stars and now Between These Broken Hearts. Ryan is definitely one of my favorite YA fantasy authors. I will say that I didn’t enjoy this as much as I did the 3rd book but it was still a fun read. The characters in this book were a bit more boring to me which made me not as interested in the story. Overall, it was a fun conclusion to this series for now and I look forward to reading more from the author in the future. Thank you to the publisher for sending me an ARC of this book

Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this ARC to review! I read the first book in the series (These Hollow Vows) in a little over 24 hours and was pretty hooked in the second book as well. Unfortunately, the third book was still good but just not as interesting to me. I can’t say the same about this one! I loved the politics, the romances, and the plot twists that were happening. I think this was a really great way to wrap up the series and will create a lot of closure for readers.

The finale is here! Last year I had the absolute pleasure reading Beneath These Cursed Stars by Lexi Ryan, and this year I arrive to its grand finale, Between These Broken Hearts. And it delivers on all levels, from romance, to action, to adventure! I had a most excellent time throughout the entire course of this journey.

We continue the journey of Jasalyn and Felicity. Jasalyn must contend with her deadly bargain as she desperately seeks to end the villainous Mordeus, while Felicity must choose whether she confronts her destiny in killing her father, knowing the consequence that may rise from it. All the while both girls must also nurse broken hearts, broken heart that may just heal again thanks to their love interests Kendrick and Misha.

I immensely enjoyed following both Jasalyn and Felicity’s respective arc. While I’d say my favorite character is Felicity, I ended up most appreciating Jas’ overall arc. She really went through the wringer, but her heart stays strong has she is always willing to sacrifice whatever is needed to set things right for everyone she loves. Speaking of love, her romance with Kendrick is one full of angst, given his presumed fate to marry the human queen, making this most definitely a forbidden romance. But it’s one you want to see cross that line. To see them defy fate. I was very satisfied with its resolution, particularly in Kendrick’s determination to follow his heart, not the expectation of duty. He is never willing to let Jas go. Showing in both word and action his devotion. Jasalyn and Kendrick easily reign as my favorite romance in this duology.

And dear Felicity reigns as my favorite character. Seeing more of her true self on the page was so needed and very much welcomed! I related heavily to her insecurities and felt proud in how she expressed all her self-doubt. Especially how she bravely opened up to Misha. There is some miscommunication between the two, and while it’s clear from the reader perspective how Misha feels towards Felicity, he frustratingly allows Felicity to misunderstand him for a prolonged period. I wanted so badly to love their romance, I admittedly thought it would become my favorite, but I ended up not feeling entirely convinced by it. I would have appreciated more attention towards its development. Nevertheless, while I wish for more, I never did doubt their chemistry.

I was very content with how every storyline is tied up, no loose strings at hand. Well developed heroines, swoony love interests, easy to follow world-building, and intimidating villains to raise the stakes. I leave this duology very much satisfied, thoroughly swooned, and with a heart full of love for characters I already dearly miss.

Thank you so kindly to HarperCollins Children’s and NetGalley for this advanced complimentary copy, I leave this review voluntarily.

I was so excited for this one, but really couldn't into it. Unfortunately, I was really bored! I felt like the outcome was pretty easy to predict and I had a hard time connecting to the characters. I did enjoy the first book, but this one was just really hard for me to get through sadly.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins Children’s Books for this earc

This was a very cute conclusion to a duology. I know what I said. Cute.
We knew going into this from book 1, that’s this is primary a two love stories kind of book vs high fantasy plot driven story. And that’s okay. Sometime that’s we need.
Was it very predictable? Yes
But did it also made me smile? Also yes.
I would call it a cozy fantasy in a way.

Repeat after me: Not every book needs to be mind blowing. Some are just here to entertain

Thank you NetGalley for the arc!

I struggled with this duology a little bit. It focused less on the romance and fantasy and more of the depression and the characters thinking they were not good enough. It felt very repetitive, the entire duology is focused on Mordeus coming back and Felicity and Jasalyn trying to overcome their personal battles. I was a little confused a few times and it didn’t always make sense to me. I didn’t feel like that much happened until the last 10% of the book. I did tear up over one death though. Felicity was so worried about losing Hale when killing Edith, but they didn’t happen or come close at all.

I absolutely love this world and these characters. I want more of them.

With how the first book ended, I was really excited to read this, and it did not disappoint. I was confused for a second during the second chapter, but luckily it didn’t last long. This story is so good, sad, heartbreaking, but it’s so nice to see how everything is handled, and how the people grow.

I loved that this book picked up right where the last one left off. I was so excited to be back in this world. The characters are all unique and well-developed, and I also appreciated seeing some from the first duology. The action was fast-paced, and the twists and turns kept me guessing throughout the entire story. I do think some of the characters were stubborn, especially regarding the romantic aspects of the book. It took a while for both Jas and Felicity to believe they were wanted by their partners, which took me out a little bit. Other than that, this was a great read, and I'm so glad Lexi Ryan has written a YA fantasy series. I love the magic and the fae as well. I enjoyed this immensely, and I'm so curious to see what she'll do next. Thank you to Harper Collins Children's for an ARC to read and review!

Being a fan of Lexi Ryan’s book and the word she created, I like this book, but I didn’t love it. It felt rushed or maybe since it’s the conclusion- it didn’t satisfy wrapping up the series. Between time jump, awkward age gap; even the ending just didn’t sit right? I am conflicted.

This was a good conclusion, but these books aren't for me.

I found it to be predictable but fun, don't get me wrong, but what sucked is I only ever really cared for Felicity and never Jas. I just couldn't get behind her character and found her to be annoying, but I really did enjoy Felicity's chapters and story. The writing is fun and it's a good world to be in, but I just found a few plot holes.

3 stars.

OKAY AFTER THE DRAMA OF THE LAST ONE, I wasn't sure this one would live up to my expectations, but oh my goodness IT DID!! The way everything unfolded was absolute perfection (which honestly I shouldn't expect anything less) what a dream!

I really enjoyed this story! I don't enjoy this duology as much as its predecessor These Hollow Vows, but it's still pretty good. Lexi Ryan is a new favorite author of mine!

DNf at 17%. I find myself just . . . not caring. I think that's due to the time jump in the beginning? And I'm finding the writing and dialogue a bit repetitive. And the characters just don't have that spark for me. Maybe I'll revisit this at some point!

A whimsical high stakes tale following strong protagonists as they navigate through the story. The pacing was sometimes slow, but overall this was a fun read!

Digital ARC of this book provided via Netgalley*.

I have some pretty mixed feelings on this wrap up to the duology. On one hand, I really enjoy reading from these characters, but on the other hand there were some parts that just didn't mesh well with me.

Lets start with what I enjoyed - the relationships. I love both of the main relationships we follow in this series. Misha and Felicity have wonderful banter that I got a big kick out of, and Jas and Kendrick just have such a beautiful dynamic going on. Seriously, get you a man that is as desperate for you as Kendrick is for Jas. That man was ready to give up EVERYTHING for her and I loved it.

The thing that really pulled me out of the story was the dual POV. Don't get me wrong, I love dual POVs in books. The problem with this one was that it switched POV nearly every chapter, and it got too hard to keep up with. You would get into a scene and then abruptly change perspectives and it felt like we were being left in the middle of a sentence. I understand wanting to keep the suspense and keep the reader intrigued, but unfortunately in this book it annoyed me more than it motivated me to keep reading. It was almost giving me whiplash, and made it hard to connect to the characters or the story.

I think really I just prefer the story of the original duology more.
