Summers spent on Nantucket were supposed to be times to regroup, relax, recharge, and reconnect. In SUMMER LIGHT ON NANTUCKET Nancy Thayer’s awesome characters and their dialog help us walk through a seemingly magical place. Blythe and her children have spent years in Nantucket. They get off the ferry and they land in a warm cozy island surrounded by nature. A wonderland of sorts. A lot has happened in the last few years. Blythe and her four kids now spend their island time in the house Blythe inherited. They share the time with their father Bob’s mother Celeste, now Blythe’s ex mother-in-law.
Now when Bob comes to visit Celeste he comes with his new wife. Life on the island is getting more complicated – so it seems. Through it all we are invited to watch the family dynamics and drama unfold as their summer vacation moves along.
Blythe is feeling ready to move on with her own personal life and true to Nancy Thayer, which is proving to be complicated and challenging. Becoming reacquainted with a teenage love. Taking a major step to return to teaching full time. And of the introduction to the requisite new friend, who may or may not become more.
So rather than enjoying the enviable ambiance of the island Blythe is busy facing what might be her new future.
Fans of Nancy Thayer will enjoy witnessing the many steps it takes to reimagine, reinvent yourself as Blythe is so busy working on. It’s part of the growth of family life and I think of an author that can better meet the challenge of putting it all together in a lovely story. SUMMER LIGHT ON NANTUCKET has an interesting entourage of characters and included in that list is the island itself. Anyone who grew up spending summers in the country will identify with Blythe and her family.

This was a good story of family dynamics, romance as teens & adults, all set over the summer in Nantucket. 3 generations. I really enjoyed .

I love to make an escape to Nantucket with Nancy Thayer! This book was so real in the way that Blythe had to deal with her children, her ex-husband, her friends. It was just so easy to fall into this book! I enjoyed it so much! Now....if I could just really escape somewhere for the entire summer! Life must really be different on the east coast!

I am a huge Nancy Thayer fan and have read almost all of her books. Usually I feel like the story is well-written, descriptive but plot driven with descriptions of Nantucket and a central love story. This book really missed the mark for me. It had elements of Nancy’s signature style, but a lot of the dialogue felt forced, the descriptions too involved for what was happening in the book and you never really got to know any of the side characters on a deeper level besides Celeste. The love triangle had no tension or longing and it was very predictable. This book felt like it was a mediocre version of an Elin Hilderbrand novel. It felt poorly written in comparison to Nancy’s other books. I’m so sad to write this! The one thing I did enjoy was Blythe’s love of her children and her as a mother. That part was written well.

A wonderful read!
This novel drew me in from the very first page and kept me hooked until the end. The characters were vibrant and relatable, the writing was engaging, and the story had just the right balance of heart and humor. Highly recommend!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

Always a favorite-a new Summer book from this author set in Nantucket! A heartwarming story, told about family, friends, ex's, and second chances. I loved the inclusion of the 4 children in the story, to include that divorce and second chances do affect them!

This was another great Nancy Thayer book. I wish the ending had gone in a different direction. This was more of a beach read with an old friend. One you would like to catch up with. I like this book a lot for the summer but if you are looking for twists and turns this book is not it. Lots of people will like this beach read and it will do very well.

I am a long time fan of Nancy Thayer's novels. I have read the vast majoirty of her bookd. I read two thirds of the book and was unable to finish. It does not have the feel of Ms. Thayer's previous novels. It is repetitive and at times rambling. I tried so hard to connect to the main character, Blythe. I am sorry to say how disappointed I am. I hope that Ms. Thayer's next summer rom com will be up to her previous standards. Thanks to NetGalley and Ballantyne books for the ARC.

3.5 ⭐️

This is the second novel I've read by Nancy Thayer. I will definitely be looking at her other books after finishing Summer Light on Nantucket The setting description was one of my favorite aspects of this book. As I read Summer Light On Nantucket , I imagined myself on the Nantucket, along with Blythe. I enjoyed the majority of the book, although I felt the first half was slow and difficult to get into the plot. I liked the majority of the characters, with the exception of Bob, who seemed to act more like a child than an adult around Blythe, but I didn't feel the same connection to them as I do when I read a book. I did feel a connection to Blythe at times. I also felt like there wasn’t much of character development in the book, except for Blythe.

I adored Blythe's connection with Nick; I believed there was a stronger bond between the two of them than between Blythe and Aaden. Throughout the novel, I was rooting for Blythe to choose Nick. In my opinion, Nick treated Blythe far better than Aayden did. Even though I didn't feel a connection to the majority of the characters, I found most of them interesting enough to continue reading the book. The family drama was another factor that kept me reading the book, and I was eager to know what would happen next. The second half of the book had me hooked on the story, and I couldn't put it down by that point.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. I loved how family-focused it was; those are some of my favorite stories to read about. Summer Light On Nantucket is a delightful, lighthearted summer novel that will have you smiling, even if you don't relate with some of the characters. I recommend checking out this book! I'm looking forward to revisiting Nantucket in more of Nancy Thayer's works!

Wow! Of all the Nancy Thayer books I had read, this one may be my favorite. Having teenagers of my own, the kids all felt so real and the interactions felt genuine.

This is a good book for grown ups. Blythe is a divorced mom with 4 kids that inherited her grandmother's house on Nantucket where she and her family have summered every year. Her ex-mother-in-law is on Nantucket and they still get along. Her ex-husband and new girlfriend come a couple of weeks in the summer. Their relationship with Blythe is on good terms as well. This summer, Blythe meets a very attractive man named Nick through a friend. She also runs into her first (And she thinks really only) love from high school, Aaden. She is attracted to both men and has to figure out if she wants to date either one of them while navigating the every day issues of having children. This is an entertaining book and would make a good beach read.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for advanced copy, and I give my review freely

Blythe has it all - until she's divorced.

Planning to have the summer as usual on Nantucket, she experiences something like no other: her childhood sweetheart, a new man, who to choose? How do you balance family with love? Blythe has to learn to do it all.

I love reading stories set on Nantucket and Nancy Thayer brought Nantucket alive with this story. The descriptions of the land and ocean. The family setting was interesting and I could relate to Blythe and the problems of having children and making decisions while keeping your children in the fore front. I loved the ending and I would be interested in reading how the family grows in future books.

I so look forward to the latest Nancy Thayer Nantucket book and Summer Light on Nantucket does not disappoint. When Blythe heads to her summer home in Nantucket, she runs headlong into a host of memories and fractured relationships. now a divorced mother of four, she remembers her teenage love Aaden who returned to Ireland and broke her heart. Now she worries that her oldest, Miranda might go through the same thing when Miranda's boyfriend joins them on the island. Another daughter Daphne also seems due for heartache due to her unrequited feelings for her friend Lincoln. Her other children are navigating their own issues. Add to the mix, her ex husband is having relationship problems of his own with his new love. And, her mother seems to have acquired a new beau as well leaving Blythe the odd woman out in the romance game.
I enjoyed reading about all the facets of Nantucket life in this book. I was excited when Aaden reappeared because I love a good second chance story but when widower Nick enters the picture, things became a little murky.
I though that the phrase "you cant go home again" was particularly apt in this story because although you can physically do so, times change, people change, and sometimes we have to let go of the old memories and move on. This was a fun read full of teen angst, older romance, lots of Nantucket references and some hard looks at the truth about life.

A Nantucket book by Nancy Thayer signals the beginning of the summer season, Summer Light on Nantucket is the perfect beach read to kick off your summer season. Blythe is a divorced mom of 4 children spending the summer in the inherited Nantucket home of her grandmother. The home is the place she has spent her summers as a child and now as an adult with her family. This summer Blythe is faced with some new challenges as a parent and as a single mom. This book is a story of a family dealing with the love, loss, and healing that comes from divorce. Blythe spends her summer navigating the challenges of raising children as a single parent but also the possibility of romance. Nancy Thayer´s books are like a warm blanket on a cold day, comforting and relatable. I loved the characters and their relationships are genuine, it could be the story of your neighbor or best friend. My only complaint is that I just simply did not want the story to end, I am hoping for a follow up book.

Blythe is divorced from Bob and both of them are now happy. Blythe enjoys being single but Bob has a new girlfriend, named Teri. They are the parents of 4 children. Every summer, Blythe and the children head to Nantucket where they have their own summer home that she inherited. Everyone looks forward to this hiatus every year.

Bob’s mother, Celeste, is a widow and also has a home on Nantucket. Blythe has always been very close to her and the children love their grandmother.

When Blythe was younger, she has a boyfriend named Aaden whom she loved very much. However, his family had a company in Ireland and he decided to move there.

The first night on the island is reserved for a welcome dinner at the yacht club hosted by Celeste. The children all get a chance to see her again and share stories. Celeste’s friend introduces Blythe to a gentleman who is also a middle school teacher, Nick, like Blythe, and whom she would like to get to know. Leaving that evening, Blythe runs into Aaden whom she hasn't seen in years. He is a divorced father to two teenage girls and staying on the island for a couple of weeks. Blythe invites him for lunch and they enjoy catching up.

As the summer goes on, there are the usual ups and downs that children face but in addition, Blythe is faced with trying to decide which man she prefers to further a relationship.

This is a story of a close family and all the usual happy times and conflicts that are common in their everyday life. The descriptions of the summer days are lovely and now Nantucket is on my bucket list as a place to visit. Enjoy!

This was my second Nancy Thayer book and I absolutely loved it. This was a wonderful women's fiction book about a woman finding herself after a divorce. I love the relationship Blythe still has with her ex MIL. This story is about her growth throughout one summer in Nantucket and finding long lost love and a new flame. And also finding herself in the process. Blythe learns that she has grown so much from the lovestruck young twenty something year old girl. Nancy's writing is heartfelt and this book is a perfect summer beach read.
