This book was like reading a mix of You've Got Mail and Pretty Woman. It was like the perfect 1980's/1990's rom-com and I absolutely loved every minute of it. Abi and Dex were characters I rooted for and hate to let go now that I've finished reading. It was the best poolside read I've had this summer, I highly recommend.

💜
I love Lynn Painter’s writing, the queen of rom-coms and fake dating. I love her YA books, but her adult romances are also so much fun!
Abi is a student and works part time as a cashier, she also has a side gig as a maid. When there’s an infestation at her apartment, she decides to stay at her clients house while he’s out of town. When Declan’s parents come to visit and find her, this maid job might get her in trouble. Declan might be able to sue this to his advantage though, he told his parents he had a girlfriend. Abi agrees to be his fake girlfriend for the weekend, especially since his parents have already met her.
This was such a fun read, the banter between Abi and Declan really made this book for me. I love this about Lynn’s writing, it really plays out like a rom-com movie in your head as you’re reading. This was a quick and fun read, I definitely recommend!
Thank you Lynn Painter, Berkeley and NetGalley for the ARC!

If you’re craving some COM with your ROM, then you need this book in your life! 😍📖 Lynn Painter has once again delivered a laugh-out-loud, swoony fake dating romance that totally hit the spot! 💘✨
Meet Abi Mariano—our sassy, hardworking heroine juggling school and two jobs (queen behavior 👑). When she needs a place to crash, she sneaks into the penthouse she cleans—thinking the mysterious owner is out of town. What she doesn’t expect? His parents showing up and helping themselves to her homemade muffins 🍪😳
Cue the chaos... and the perfect rom-com setup. Turns out, the penthouse belongs to workaholic hottie Declan Powell, who once made up a fake girlfriend named “Abby” to get his parents off his back. So when his parents say they met her... imagine his confusion 😅
Once he discovers the truth about Abi, Declan proposes a deal: pretend to be his girlfriend—for $40,000 (yes, really 💸). Abi agrees, and the fake dating fun begins!! Watching their banter-filled journey unfold in alternating POVs was SO FUN. The chemistry? Off the charts 🔥 The slow burn? Chef’s kiss 👩🍳💋
And okay yes, there’s a lil' miscommunication drama—but that’s what makes us scream at our Kindles, right?! 😂💕
I adored how Lynn Painter gave these two time to fall. It wasn’t insta-love—it was real growth, real sparks, and real feelings. This book is basically a warm muffin topped with cinnamon-sugar fluff and extra swoon. 10/10 would recommend! 🧁💕

Maid for Each Other by Lynn Painter was such a fun, fast read. I went in expecting a cute rom-com, and it delivered. The setup is great with fake dating, a little chaos, and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. It had the exact mix of humor and sweetness I was hoping for. The chemistry between the main characters was so good. Their banter felt natural, not forced, and I loved watching their relationship shift from fake to something real. Both characters were easy to like, and their awkward, flirty moments had me smiling through the whole book.

Lynn Painter has done it again! She's quickly becoming one of my favorite romance authors. Her meet-cutes are always adorable, the banter is top-notch, and the humor never misses. This one had me smiling the whole time.
Abi is a hard working cleaner and student who ends up crashing in her rich client's penthouse for a week while her building gets fumigated. Seems harmless, right? Until the owner's parents show up and mistake her for their son's girlfriend. Oops!
Declan, the mysterious penthouse owner, had lied to his family about having a girlfriend to get them off his back. Now Abi has accidentally become her. When he finds out, instead of freaking out, he makes her an offer - keep up the act, and he'll take care of her living situation.
What follows is fake dating at its finest - funny, sweet, awkward in all the right ways. I laughed, swooned, and didn't want to put it down. Lynn Painter nailed the slow burn with her charm and wit

Would you pretend to be someone’s girlfriend for the weekend, if it means that all of your student loans would be paid for? Abi is a hardworking maid, grocery store clerk, and student. One day, while her apartment is infested with rats, she decides to sleep at an apartment she usually cleans and lands herself in a predicament that snowballs into something nobody would have expected: Declan, the handsome and very rich businessman, is looking for someone to pretend to be his girlfriend. He is willing to pay her 40k, how could Abi walk away from the money and the handsome man offering it?
The book was the perfect amount of sweet, nostalgia, and laugh-out-loud moments. The banter between Abi and Declan was top tier, the moments between them sweet and heartfelt, and the story put such a great spin on a much-loved classic! Pretty Woman is a movie I can recall word for word, so I absolutely appreciated the similarities.
Nevertheless, Maid For Each Other is fresh and funny and a perfect read!
Thank you to NetGalley, Berkley Publishing and Lynn Painter for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

this was a super fast-paced, filled with amazing banter rom-com! i really did have a fun time with this one, but i did find myself struggling with it at times. i just found it to be extremely unrealistic and found myself rolling my eyes at times. i really did like declan a lot, which is shocking because the billionaire mmc’s usually really bother me lol, but he came across as humble and kind (which is another reason this was so unrealistic) but i found abi to be very judgemental and rude at times (also super unrealistic because how is the billionaire more likable than the poor student crashing his life?) anyways, this was really fun and if you are a big fan of billionaire romances and fake dating i would still really recommend checking this one out. lynn painter is an amazing writer who is so witty and this was no exception! her books are just fun and easy to read.

I love Lynn Painter’s adult romance books and this one has such a fun storyline. A woman decides to sleep in the apartment that she cleans when her apartment becomes infested only to wake up and meet the owner’s parents who believes she’s his girlfriend. From there Lynn kicks off a cute fake dating, opposites attract romance between the rich business man who thinks nothing of money and the poor grad student who thinks he’s a spoiled jerk. This has all the makings of a fun romcom as well as great writing but I found it hard to love the characters though they do have some great banter. Abi came across as too judgmental towards Declan and his money and there wasn’t a whole lot to Declan’s backstory to make him stand out. Because of this it was hard to buy into their chemistry (and his nickname didn’t help) and really get into the story. Lynn does give them several opportunities to pose as fake boyfriend and girlfriend which were fun to see how they played out. I’ll always read whatever new book Lynn writes, this one however just didn’t hit like her past books.
*I received an advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.

I loved this from the first page. This was such a great read! The spice is heavily hinted at but not super descriptive. I would let my teen read this for sure.
I love when the romance isn’t far fetched. Sure it’s a millionaire and his maid but their mistakes, their confusion and their reactions are all real and not exaggerated. I absolutely adored this! This was another huge win for Lynn Painter!

Lynn Painter books are always a fun time and this was no exception. This was really cute! I loved it. Abi and Declan were part Pretty Woman and part Maid in Manhattan. The first few chapters were very funny and I loved the banter and arguments they had. I had assumed the book would mainly be surrounding their deal and the weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised we had a lot more time for them to spend time together. I think it would have been cool to see them have to explain themselves to Declan’s coworkers later after they are really together though, and we didn’t see any of that. Did she keep the fake last name?
The ending felt a little rushed and I wish there had been some sort of resolution with her student loans and with her friend figuring out Declan and Roman’s secret business. But it just sort of ended after they figured it out. Did he ever pay her student loans or did she even tell him what the money was going to be used for?
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was my first Lynn Painter. And from what I had heard from others, I was in for a ride of laughter and smiles and maybe a few "oh boys". One of my first loves were Rom-Coms and sometimes, it can be a miss but Ms. Painter did not miss at all.
I felt like I was watching a good-time, banter filled Rom-Com that I would watch on the weekend with a bowl of popcorn and my favorite wine.
Abi was adorable and her inner thoughts had me weak during each of her POVS. She never felt dry or lackluster. Then you toss in the faking dating trope with the semi-grumpy Declan and you're in for a treat. This book will have you rolling laughing with a chance of happily ever after.
You'll be asking for more even when you get to 95% of the book. I'm sure this won't be my last Painter book.

Considering that I was laughing out loud while sitting on the beach because this book was simply that cute and funny, extremely easy 5 stars.
This is my first “adult” Lynn Painter and I was very excited to see if it made me just as giddy as her YA novels do. The answer is YES!! I adore Abi and Dexxie so so much and am obsessed with their love story. There will never be anything better than seeing the serious broody no romance business man become an absolute simp. And to have it be fake dating as well??? SOLD!!!
Add this to your summer tbr asap!

This was a pretty typical fake dating book (a favorite romance trope of mine) but with some twists. It was also a bit of a rags to riches story. I enjoyed it even with the immense amount of suspension of disbelief required. Recommended for large roamnce collections or for romance collections that are just getting started.

This is my second Lynn Painter book and I enjoyed this one more than the first one. The dynamics of each character was very interesting. Coming toward the end of the book I thought it was some things that needed to be addressed but I’m glad in the last two chapters they were. This book is a definition of a rom com book it was very lighthearted and showcased the love story between Abi and Declan. This book also made me realize I love when main male characters name is Declan. They all have the same trait of a grumpy billionaire which I love. Also loved that it had fake dating which made me like the story more. Thank you to Netgalley and Berkley Publishing Group for sending me and allowing me to read this ARC that comes out on July 15, 2025.

OMG. immediately 5 stars!
Thank you NetGalley and Berkeley for the ARC. I am so so obsessed with this book! This is my first Lynn Painter book and I ate it up!
The tropes are my favs:
- grumpy x sunshine
- fake dating
- billionaire x nanny
- THE BEST BANTER/FLIRTING OMG.
I was kicking and screaming the entire time and that's when you know the book was good. My husband was giving me weird looks LOL but I just loved it so much. I finished this book in about 1.5 days and I wish I could reread this. This book reminds me of the movie, Maid in Manhattan! I LOVE how the author made Declan (the billionaire) so sweet and charming. It was so easy to love him!

I loved this book! My first book by this author and I need more now! I loved the story, the writing flowed so well, and I loved the banter between the two main characters and the MMC and his best friend. Such a fun rom-com! 4⭐️
You have fake dating, billionaire, opposites attract, forced proximity and slow burn. There is some miscommunication but I still loved it! Def recommend!

Abigail "Abi" Mariano is working hard to get her masters in Fine Arts. Abi is working two jobs, one at Benny's Natural Grocers and the other at Masterkleen cleaning people's places. When Abi is told that she has to leave her apartment for a week to fumigate an infestation, she has no clue what she is going to do. While she is cleaning a rich man's expensive penthouse, Abi gets the idea to stay at his place for the week since he is out of town. Too bad the first morning she wakes up, she runs into Charles and Elaine Powell....parents of 30 year old Declan Powell and owner of the penthouse. When Abi introduces herself, Dex's parents are excited to meet her....they believe that she is their son's girlfriend, Abby Green. When Dex finds this information out from his parents he's not happy. After he tracks Abi down to Benny's he confronts her. It ends up where he offers her a trade, use of penthouse for the week and $40,000 if she pretends to be his girlfriend for the weekend. Abi agrees. Dex's boss, Warren Hathaway, the richest man in America and CEO of Hathaway Holdings just adores Abi as does the rest of his colleagues.
Of course the time these two spend together the more the chemistry keeps on igniting and both Abi and Dex realize that they like hanging out with the other. After a fun filled weekend, Dex heads back to New York but wants Abi to keep staying at his place. Pretty soon they are talking all the time and Dex even flies her out to New York for a day. They both are developing feelings but neither one will admit it. Just when it looks like Abi and Dex may have found their happy ever after, old insecurities come flooding back and everything falls apart. It will a huge leap of faith for these to to find their happy ending but they do in the best of ways.
I just loved this opposites attract love story. Dex came from money, Abi didn't. She had a hard time handling that difference but it was fun to watch her deal with it. It was also fun watching these two fall so hard for each other. Dex was a really great guy and Abi deserved to be loved.

Is the premise an unbelievable? Yes! Do I care? Not at all!!
This was a sweet romance that is the perfect summer read. You can count on Lynn Painter to deliver characters with great chemistry and a story that builds the tension , the humor and tenderness that are at the heart of it all.

Fake dating at its finest-- this millionaire-maid rom-com is as sweet as it is entertaining.
A disastrous meet cute turns into a steamy girlfriend-for-hire between a maid and a millionaire. Abi is a witty student writer strapped for cash, so when an offer to pay off her student loans in exchange for her company falls into her lap, she can't help but jump! Doesn't hurt that Declan is easy on the eyes :) As she accompanies him to his company’s shareholder’s weekend they both realize they may be in over their heads…
The chemistry between Abi and Declan is worth the wait— I loved this breezy, bright rom-com.

This was such a cute, fun read, and absolutely nailed the fake dating and forced proximity tropes. It also had a bit of a Cinderella story/Pretty Woman vibe. Abi is a grad student working part-time as a supermarket cashier and a house cleaner to make ends meet, and when she has to leave her apartment for fumigation, decides to crash at one of her wealthy clients condos instead. What she doesn't expect is for his parents to be there when she wakes up, assuming she is his girlfriend, coincidentally Abby with a Y. Declan is the youngest VP at a conglomerate that didn't even try to not be based on Berkshire Hathaway, who made up a girlfriend in order to appear more settled in his life and increase his chances for advancement. When he realizes a woman was in his apartment, he tracks her down, is a bit of a jerk at first threatening to get her fired, but after a battle of wits the two decide to spend the weekend pretending to be a couple, where Abi will be paid handsomely for her time and Declan gets what he needs out of the situation too. Their banter was top notch, and I loved how Abi held her own and wasn't intimidated by Declan. This was a very quick read, and their feelings developed almost instantly, but there was enough snark there that I didn't get too annoyed. Also sharing Abi's disdain for the uber-wealthy, I was happy to see Declan's secret side business as well. I feel like every Summer, a bunch of author's get together and decide on the hot topic to write about, and this year it feels like it's grad student FMCs with flighty mothers giving them issues, so while this didn't feel like a particularly original story, it was still well executed and easily bingeable in a day.
