This was fine, a Pretty Woman-style Cinderella story without the sex work and with a more noble hero. The language is a little clunky and the plot is simple.

Thank you Netgalley for this arc. I loved this. Fake Dating, . Declan and Abi were such an interesting read from Abi being skeptical of Declan to them falling for each other in this fake dating romance. Abi is my kind of girl, funny shirts, laughter and bad jokes. I would love to be friends with her.

4.5⭐️ This book made me laugh multiple times! The scorpion chapter was HILARIOUS. I absolutely loved the banter between the two main characters, they were sarcastic and funny and I couldn’t get enough of their back and forth. One small issue I had was just how much it was mentioned that this man was rich, I understand the purpose of it being mentioned, it went along with the FMCs view of him, but it felt like constantly being reminded of how little regard he had for money.

You will love this if you enjoy:

-fake dating
-amazing banter
-not much spice, and when it happens it’s not overly descriptive.

Now there is a trope in here that I know a lot of people don’t enjoy, but don’t want to mention it in case it’s consider a spoiler. I personally, don’t mind that trope at all! But if you’re very picky about tropes you very much dislike, maybe look them up before picking up the book.

This book was so adorable! It was your usual Lynn Painter and everything you could hope for. I am a sucker for a good fake dating romance. I also am so obsessed with a tall MMC who is down bad for the girl he likes. I will definitely be telling everyone to read this.

lynn painter typically hooks me with her writing, but i can't always get behind the characters / actual story in her adult romcoms. this was the case here - writing pulls you in just enough to hook you, but you're waiting the whole story for a little something more :\

Thank you for the free book, Berkley Romance!

In this Cinderella meets Pretty Woman rom com, Abi is a student who is currently staying without permission in the home of one of her cleaning clients- millionaire Declan. Declan is always out of town, her place is being treated for pests and she has no money or other alternatives so she takes a chance. Unfortunately, Declan’s parents come by and are delighted to meet his girlfriend Abi that he’s always talking about. When Declan and Abi finally do meet, sparks fly and fake dating schemes are concocted.

I’m such a sucker for Lynn Painter’s writing and devoured this book in no time at all. It is the ultimate comfort read in the way it combines several familiar stories into something that doesn’t feel cliche or overdone. I love fake dating, and the combination of that along with opposites attract, forced proximity, and grumpy/sunshine are all so much fun here. This book is adorable, comforting, and a perfect romantic escape to make you smile and feel like you’re reading a modern day fairy tale.

I truly believe with my whole heart that Lynn Painter is extremely underhyped as an author. Every single book of her’s is solid and always enjoyable. The single millionaire needing a fake girlfriend for the weekend feels like a trope that’s been done a million times before, but the way Painter wrote the story feels fresh. She also has the ability to write banter and dialogue that will make you literally laugh out loud as you’re reading. The characters show growth along the way, overcoming their prejudices and learning how to see things through a different light. I loved this novel and I loved these characters.

3, maybe 4 stars? This was my favorite of Lynn Painter’s adult rom-coms! The first part was a bit iffy because I didn’t see how the two characters would get along with such different personalities, but about 20% of the way in I really started to enjoy it! I read most of it in one sitting - just a quick, entertaining story. I’m not a huge fan of millionaire/billionaire romances but this wasn’t the typical “buys everything and flies on a private jet” - it had some excessive parts but was mostly somewhat believable and not outlandish. I didn’t love the third act breakup scene because the first part that set it off just felt forced, but overall a solid read:)

Abi cleans the apartment of a wealthy man as her second job to make ends meet. Unfortunately, there was an infestation of some kind at her apartment and, with no place to stay, decides to use the apartment of the wealthy man she cleans for since he’s out of town for the week. She figures she’ll be in, clean, and be out … just this time she will stay for a bit. No one would have to know …

Declan, a busy man trying to make his mark on his company figures out (through his parents, mind you) that a random woman was staying in his apartment while he wasn’t there. Only, his parents believed she was his girlfriend, “Abby”. The “Abby” that he made up since he was feeling pressured about not having a long-term, commitment-ready, about-to-walk-down-the-aisle girlfriend. What are the odds of that happening?

Instead of ratting her out to the authorities for trespassing, he decides to use her (with her permission) for some weekend work events. She will pretend to be his long-term girlfriend so the men at work will think he’s in a right headspace to lead his company. As for Abi, she’s drowning in student loan debt, so why not take advantage of the wealthy man offering to pay for her loans just for a weekend of work?

This one was so fun! It’s a classic Lynn Painter rom-com, with the fake-dating, the longing, and the loving from afar plot.

I loved Abi, she was so strong and helpful to Declan. Even though she had her prejudices towards him and his friends, she still found a way to be kind and accepting to them before she even started to get to know them for who they were. Yes, the book was predictable and cheesy, but that’s what a rom-com should be, and Lynn Painter did that! I definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a quick and easy romance.

Thank you to NetGalley & Berkley for allowing me to read & review this book early.

Lynn Painter always, ALWAYS makes me laugh, and this was no exception. I really enjoyed this slightly ridiculous setup - Abi Mariano is secretly crashing in Declan Powell's ritzy Omaha condo while her own crappy apartment is being fumigated. She's never met Declan, but she knows he's supposed to be out of town because she's responsible for cleaning his apartment during her overnight maid job. As she's heading out early one morning, she accidentally meets Declan's parents, who are in town for a big deal business thing for their son, and they're delighted to meet her because it turns out that Declan just happens to have made up a fake girlfriend named Abby. After his parents rave about meeting her, he figures out who she is, tracks her down at her other job at the natural grocery store (she's got student loans to pay AND she's a current MFA student), and threatens to get her fired and/or arrested. Declan is just the kind of rich, entitled guy that Abi hates to deal with, but when he offers to let things slide if she pretends to be his girlfriend for an event with his colleagues and his parents, she decides that she'd rather do that than get arrested... because she can also get a good story out of it for her portfolio. This is a rom com, so of course things get complicated, especially when Declan agrees to Abi's outrageous ask of a 40k payment to continue the charade and they end up spending more and more time together. I found Abi totally charming and Lynn Painter's writing was hilarious as always. A fast, fun read.

Firstly, thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an e-arc of this book! I thought this book was really cute and I enjoyed it. In this book we follow Abi and Dex, a house cleaner and a millionaire who make a fake dating arrangement to help each other out. This book was just cute and really fast paced. I always use Lynn Painter as a palette cleanser and this was perfect. I really enjoyed seeing the progression of Dex and Abi’s relationship. It felt very natural. I usually have a hit or miss with fake dating books but this one was just really well written. Overall, really cute and I recommend everyone check it out! Thank you again to the publisher and NetGalley for an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

I liked it but didn't quite love it. Declan and Abi had decent enough chemistry, but something just felt... lacking. I however love and trust Lynn and am excited to see what comes next from her.

Another great romance from Lynn Painter! If you love fake dating and witty banter, then this one is for you! Super cute and clever, Abi and Declan were so sweet together. It had a Pretty Woman vibe in certain elements. Highly recommended!

I thought I had sent a feedback for this. I really enjoyed this one.

This was a cute fake romance book between Abi and Declan. Abi, an aspiring writer who works at a grocery store & as a maid (at Declan's condo complex) and Declan a super rich up and coming man in his family's business.

The way the two meet isn't real common, I mean who sleeps in a stranger's home (even if she knew he was gone, and used their kitchen to bake?) BUT - the more this story progressed with their "fake" romance, I was really rooting for them both to get together. This has all the cute slow burn romance. Can I say, yes to the chocolate necklace he won and gave to her?

Definitely a solid 4 stars for me. Would love to read more from Lynn Painter! Great feel good book!

This was the first book by Lynn I’ve read, but I’m absolutely planning to dive into everything else she’s written.

First of all, I can’t believe I got an ARC for this book—it honestly felt surreal. The moment it hit my Kindle, I dropped everything else I was reading to start it immediately because I was that excited. And I’m so glad I did, because I devoured it. I loved every single second. It’s a true romantic comedy that’ll leave your cheeks sore from smiling and your stomach fluttering with butterflies.

I really liked the writing style, it pulled me into the story right away. The plot itself was extremely interesting and I kept looking forward to seeing what would happen next. It literally didn’t allow me to put it down until I finished it. I also really liked both main characters. They were so easy to love. The fake relationship anecdotes Abi made up were perfection—I laughed so much at all her ideas. The moment with the scorpion was also absolutely hilarious. It’s obvious that Lynn has a real gift for comedy, and that makes me even more excited to read her other books.

Maid for Each Other gets a full recommendation from me!

This sparkling rom-com delivers everything readers have come to love about Lynn Painter’s stories, quick wit, irresistible chemistry, and characters who stumble their way into love in the most chaotic and charming fashion. Abi Mariano is relatable, hard-working, and just the right amount of impulsive when she ends up “borrowing” the penthouse she cleans. The setup unfolds with comedic perfection, especially when she’s mistaken for the mysterious owner’s girlfriend. What follows is a fake dating scenario that crackles with tension and humor, especially once Declan Powell enters the picture and realizes his white lie just got very real.

What makes this story shine is the way it balances laugh-out-loud moments with a genuine emotional connection between Abi and Dex. Their banter is sharp, their chemistry undeniable, and their slow realization that maybe this fake relationship isn’t so fake after all is deeply satisfying. Along the way, the story explores ambition, identity, and vulnerability, adding layers to both leads without slowing the fast-paced fun. With quirky side characters, heartfelt moments, and a premise that delivers on every beat, this is a delightfully modern love story that will leave readers grinning long after the final page.

Abi, a student, grocery clerk and housekeeper, gets kicked out of her apartment during an infestation. So when she goes to clean the penthouse of a billionaire who is always out of town, she decides to spend the night. No one will know! Except that his parents are there when she wakes up and mistake her for the girlfriend that Declan always talks about. When said Declan finds her, he's far from thrilled... But has a proposal for her. Fake date so he can put on a show for his family-centric company, and she can stay. She agrees, and of course, everyone falls in love with adorable, quirky, and sweet Abi. The things Declan found annoying become endearing and the two form a friendship. But of course, against all odds, they find they may be in love and perhaps don't want this ruse to end.

This was so adorable and low stakes and hilarious. How was this my first Lynn Painter book?! Declan was a total grump and definitely found Abi to be a total wild card. She was so fun - I loved her willingness to just go with it at these billionaire events, and tell ridiculous Declan stories. I also loved that she had an open mind and found herself looking past the stereotypes she had of the wealthy. Same can be said for Declan - he found that Abi was brilliant, hardworking, and ambitious. I always enjoy a bit of forced proximity, and appreciated that Declan noticed and valued the little things about Abi. He fell first and hard, and their banter was top notch. A low spice and absolutely charming romcom!

Lynn Painter is sweet and its a re-telling of cinderella in a modern way. I enjoy the chemistry from these two characters. I like her writing style and story line. A sweet romance.

This was a fun, cute, quick read. Lots of heart and humor and exactly what I was in the mood for. It doesn’t break new ground but it does cover the well worn romance path adorably. Lynn Painter always delivers the sweet and mildly spicy and I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

Thank you to Berkley for the eARC.

There’s something about Lynn Painter rom coms that I can’t resist. Her humor just really matches mine.

Abi gets caught sleeping at a client’s home and gets caught up in a fake dating scenario with said client, Declan. Declan is a VP at his fancy company and he needs someone to play the fake girlfriend he’s created the past couple of months—one that just happens to be named Abi. What a nice coincidence!

So Abi and Declan together are so hilarious. There’s so much initial bickering, basically pranking each other while pretending to have been together for months. And like you can guess, fake kissing often leads to real kissing. Their relationship may be fake but the chemistry is real.

Fun, hilarious, sweet, and adorable, Maid for Each Other really hit the spot. As always, Lynn Painter delivers a five star read for me.
