Lynn Painter’s romcoms always have me laughing almost as soon as I start reading one of her books, and Maid For Each Other did not disappoint. Why shouldn’t Abi squat in one of her client’s apartments that she cleans for the company she works for, especially when her apartment is currently off limits and he’s never there?

The story is told from Abi and Declan’s perspectives via alternating chapters, each with a delightful title. Everything centers around Abi and Declan and their fake dating relationship after he gets over his anger of finding her squatting at his apartment. The story is fast-paced and flows nicely. Watching the two figure out their fake relationship and sell it to others was a sight to behold. They run through a gamut of emotions while selling it, but will anger and hurt ultimately win?

Vivid descriptions of the locations and activities help draw the reader into the story. There is some closure in the epilogue that takes place a year later, but I would have liked it to go on a little longer, as there seemed to be a few loose ends. The peek at Painter’s next book already had me laughing, and I can’t wait to read it.

Maid For Each Other is a romcom where opposites attract, and I laughed at their antics throughout. A perfect summer read with delightful characters.

Absolute perfection! I was swooning over these two and smiling ear to ear while reading this one. 😍

This one gave me all the Maid in Manhattan vibes and I absolutely adored this story.

Declan, a billionaire, and Abi (a maid, among other jobs) enter into a fake relationship for a weekend. Abi is such a fun character and instantly has everyone in her trance, including Declan.

I adored watching this fake relationship turn into something more, especially with there texts and face timing.

I always love how Lynn does banter in text form and this one did not disappoint.

The end had me absolutely S W O O N I N G, and I just loved the whole things.

This one is not to be missed. The audio was fantastic so if you like audiobooks or are looking to try them out this one is a great one to start with.

Lynn Painter always delivers a cute RomCom. In Maid for Each Other opposites attract and fake dating are the major tropes.

Abi a student, employed part-time as a cashier and maid, get herself into a heap of trouble. She introduces herself as Declan's girlfriend while cleaning lust apartment, as she made herself quite at home cooking and sleeping in his space. Declan is beyond wealthy, yet there is more to him than what meets the eye.

It was fun to read as these two catch feelings. There's definite chemistry, witty banter and sexiness to this romance.

This book was so cute! I’ve been in a huge slump lately, and I needed something that was different to break me out of it. I really loved the classic rom-com feel of this book. It was easy to read, enjoy, and not have to think too hard about!

I liked that this book felt like a novel version of Maid in Manhattan—it just has such a classic, timeless, and feel-good energy. I thought Abi was a super fun FMC, and I loved that Declan was the KING of consent!

As someone who lived in Kansas City, the KS/Omaha setting kind of threw me for a loop at first, because I expected an NYC setting, but I really really loved the NYC moments in this book. I think that the Nebraska/Kansas setting made the NYC chapters 10x better!

I think that this is a super fun lighthearted romcom that anyone can enjoy! Especially fans of billionaire romance, closed door/limited spice, fake dating, and insta-love.

“Maid for Each Other” by Lynn Painter was my first book by this author. Allie is a grocery clerk and maid trying to put herself through grad school. Dex was born into money but has very specific plans of how he wants to impact the world. After the funniest first chapter I’ve ever read in a book, I was hooked. I loved the premises of how these two end up in a fake dating situation. I’m not normally a fan of billionaire x fish out of water romances but this wasn’t over the top. The story was more insta-love, and I wish Dex’s character was a bit deeper. This book is lower on the spice scale for those you prefer that in their romance reads.
That said, this was a quick fluffy read that would make a great pallet cleanser between more heavier reads.
Thank you to NetGallery and Berkley Publishing Group for an advanced copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

This was such a happy, sweet book. It’s fake dating which i absolutely love. Yes, I know it’s so unreality, but I love it! I loved the grumpy/sunshine vibes between Declan and Abi. There was a little spice, but it wasn’t overly graphic. Even though I don’t love a third act break up, the grand gesture at the end was so sweet!

Maid for Each Other by Lynn Painter

3⭐, 3🌎, 3📖, 4🖋️, 4👫, 3❤️, .5🌶️

We love a Lynn Painter book and her newest is no exception! Our 2 main characters are Abi and Declan. Declan, a committed and slightly gruff millionaire businessman, has a made up girlfriend named Abi. It was just easier to lie and make someone up than deal with the constant questions and attempts at setting him up. So when his maid, also named Abi (he truly didn't know this, this isn't a “I've been pining for you for years” situation), accidentally meets his parents while they are in town visiting, they decide to keep up the ruse while they are in town for his company's big weekend. Because, you know, book reasons.

One of the things Painter does best is write funny leading ladies. Abi is smart and hard working, albeit a little judgemental of the upper class and their spending habits. However over the course of the long weekend, she finds herself enjoying their company, recognizing their generosity, and challenging her own beliefs.

This has all the hallmarks of a rich boyfriend story including the makeover montage, fish out of water, and silly miscommunication involving money. This didn't make us love it any less, it just follows the script perfectly. Most of the spice is behind closed doors or implied.

This is a perfect light rom-Com beach read and we highly recommend it! Thank you to publisher and net galley for the advanced copy!

This pains me to say, but this was just okay. I'm a fan of Lynn Painter but this one didn't hit me quite as well as the others. It started from the beginning super fast. I felt like I'd been dropped into another story and was putting pieces together as quickly as I could. While I did get into the story and liked all the characters in the end, it was just a bit too fast for me and I felt like I missed some character and story development. There were definitely some funny moments. I did enjoy the story in the end but felt like I was missing some crucial information to get this to a higher rating.

🧽 Bookish Thoughts
Maid for Each Other is such a fun romcom. I’m a total sucker for fake dating, and this one was hilarious from start to finish.

Abi had me cackling with how she dragged Declan at every turn 🤣

Declan was a secret softie and the definition of a consent king. I loved that Abi held her own, and honestly I loved them both equally which rarely happens for me. They had such great banter and chemistry.

Abi and Declan foreverrrr 🫶🏾🫶🏾

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book. I want to say upfront that I did DNF this book at around 20% because I struggled to connect with the characters, and didn't feel super invested in their story.

I am a Lynn Painter stan first and foremost, from her YA to her adult books, but this one just did not click with me unfortunately. I think I've grown out of the billionaire romance trope and this kind of fake dating doesn't really appeal to me anymore. If those tropes are your thing then this is definitely for you! I felt like we dove right into everything quite quickly and I didn't get to connect with the FMC, which would have allowed me to understand her actions better. I have a feeling I know exactly how this story will go, and while I have enjoyed predictable rom coms in the past this one just wasn't for me at this time! If you like fake dating, billionaire romance definitely give this one a try, this should deliver those classic 2000s rom-com vibes for fans of "Pretty Woman" and "Maid in Manhattan" .

2.5🌟

This might be a me problem, but I truly don't think rom-coms are my go-to romance book anymore. I need the depth and emotional connection more than I need anything else! This book was for sure a classic rom-com, with witty banter, messy situations that are borderline unbelievable, and a whirlwind romance. It was an easy read for sure, but I wasn't connected to the story, and I did not care for either of the main characters or their romance.

Him being oh so rich that he just kept buying her time, her hating it but also giving into it, and then her turning around and writing about this entire fake dating situation was so weird to me. I couldn't bring myself to enjoy any part of it. The third act breakup was absolutely awful. There were just so many things throughout this book that did not work for me and I found myself skipping through the last 100 pages because I needed it to be over asap!

I don't think Lynn Painter is an author for me but that's fine! This might work for others, but it definitely wasn't my cup of tea.

Thank you Berkley and Netgalley for the arc!

This was a cute book about a maid and a millionaire. It did read like a Lynn Painter book, which is a huge compliment. I really enjoy Lynn's books and this one did not disappoint. I was very eagerly waiting for this book to come out and I didn't want it to end. I can't wait to read her next book!

Thanks NetGalley for the advance copy.

Maid For Each Other is the story of a woman who gets caught up in a fake dating scheme when the parents of the millionaire whose place she is cleaning come in and think she is the girlfriend he made up. Same name as the imaginary girlfriend. So to keep his parents off his back, he hires her to go along with it. You know where this is going. And with a Pretty Woman moment to boot. But because this is a @lynnpainterbooks book, the bantering is absolute perfection, the characters are so lovable, and the romance is so swoonworthy, you cannot help but laugh out loud, smile and fall in love with this book. Oh how I love her books.

This was just a very cute book. A quick read with fun characters. The chemistry was there, the interactions were enjoyable. I just overall was happy to pick this up at the end of the day. The storyline itself was fine, very predictable and not all that unique, but it did not impact my desire to read it. I think because the characters were such a treat, especially the fmc, Abi, that I looked forward to how they would handle what happened next in the story. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to yell at the main characters, but I truly enjoyed their banter, ridiculous scenes and overall growth from start to finish. If you are looking for a quick, enjoyable rom-com to get lost in, this is 100% the book for you!

this was a cute and easy read! it got right to the point and was your basic typical rom-com. some funny moments, some cute moments, a good ol’ fake dating trope, a third act breakup that I didn’t really care for and a cute epilogue! if you need a cute palate cleanser this would be the perfect read!

This was another super enjoyable read from Lynn Painter, who has quickly become one of my favourite authors. This story centers around a trope I normally would not touch, but Lynn still manages to turn it into a really fun, sweet read. No spoilers, but I loved the way she set this one up. It could easily be turned into a movie.

Although not my favourite story by Lynn, I would still recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun, well-written rom-com. It was a great read.

Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for the advanced copy. This one is now available!

For fans of Pretty Woman and Maid in Manhattan.
🧼
Abi figured it wouldn’t be a problem to hold up in the luxurious apartment she cleans when her own housing has to be fumigated. She guessed wrong when an older couple shows up unexpectedly, excited to see her because they assume she’s their son’s girlfriend. Declan is not happy when he finds out, tracking Abi down and making a deal with her to be his fake girlfriend for a few days and he won’t report her. Abi agrees, but very quickly the pretend show they put on feels all too real.
🧹
I adore Painter’s romance books whether they’re adult, YA or MG, and I loved this one too! I just wish it had been a little longer with more attention paid to the MCs and their journey to falling for one another. It seems they both fell very quickly. Read this #romance if you like the following tropes: billionaire, enemies to lovers & fake dating It released this week!

CW: classism, parental death (recounted), medical content, alcohol

In Maid for Each Other, Abi is a grad student working multiple jobs to make ends meet. When she learns her apartment needs to be fumigated, Abi decides it won’t be a problem if she spends a few nights at the penthouse she cleans since Declan, the owner, is never there anyway. That is, until the owner’s parents pay a surprise visit and mistake her for Declan’s girlfriend, also named Abby, whom they have never met.

After talking to his parents, Declan is outraged to find out someone has been living in his apartment. Why? Because there is no Abby. He made her up so everyone would leave him alone about his lack of a love life.

Once Declan finds out the culprit is his housekeeper, he plans to confront her and get her fired, but by the time Abi is done with him, Declan is so off his game, he has instead entered into a fake dating arrangement with her where she’ll continue to stay in his penthouse, he’ll go stay in a hotel, and he’ll pay her in exchange for her being the perfect corporate girlfriend to impress all of his business associates.

Lynn Painter is one of my go-to authors when I want a laugh out loud funny rom-com and she really delivers in this one! The banter between Abi and Declan is just so much fun, especially because Declan comes across as such a grumpy, stuffed shirt early on & Abi brings out his softer, more likable side.

The story also has Pretty Woman, Maid in Manhattan, opposites attract vibes since Abi and Declan come from such different backgrounds. I also thought it was a fun twist that Abi was studying creative writing & was using the fake dating experience as fodder for her writing assignments.

Such a cute rom-com!!
Abi is Declan’s housekeeper. A funny misunderstanding turns into a full blown fake dating situation where Abi is an absolute hit with his family, friends, coworkers. As they lower their defenses and get to know each other, lines get blurred. Question is… is Declan an overprivileged millionaire jerk or the thoughtful man she is falling for?
I LOVE Lynn Painter!! You can always count on her for fabulous banter, great characters and funny situations in her romance books. And who knows… this one could definitely have a sequel focused on their BFFs!
THANK YOU Lynn Painter for always keeping it fun!

And thank you NetGalley for the ARC!!
