This was such a unique and entertaining debut! Julie Tudor is definitely a psychopath - I found her character to be unhinged and eccentric which made for a very satisfying read. This book was full of dark and dry humor, suspense and intrigue. The overall plot was very entertaining and I recommend this to those who enjoy reading about unreliable main characters and an unconventional approach to love and murder.

Oh how I wanted to love this one.
The very dark humour take on a female serial killer did get some laughs from me at times.

That said - the execution and development on this very twisted character left me feeling disappointed.
I felt many important topics were left undeveloped and left the reader hanging.

As for the parents and some other characters; lacked impact and development for me. Not quite understanding what was really wrong with Julie was also a disappointment.

Sad to say - did not hit the mark for me.

Julie Tudor is Not a Psychopath has a quirky premise with dark comedic undertones, and I was intrigued going in. Julie is a woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go to extreme lengths to get it. The mix of obsession, manipulation, and murder definitely leans into the psychological thriller vibe with a satirical twist.

That said, the pacing felt a little slow for my taste, and the storyline became repetitive at times. I found myself waiting for more twists or momentum that didn’t quite land. Julie as a character is certainly unique, but I didn’t fully connect with her or feel pulled into the suspense as much as I’d hoped.

Even though this one wasn’t quite for me, I can see how other thriller readers especially those who enjoy an offbeat, darkly funny narrator might really enjoy it. If you’re into stories with unreliable main characters and an unconventional approach to love and murder, give it a try!

I found myself struggle to follow this book. I loved the premise where Julie is a delusional psychopath. She just keeps misinterprets everything and I found her slightly infuriating.

interesting book about a julie who seems a bit crazy and ends up killing people. I found it very interesting and seeing how far it went back.

This story was wild and absolutely unhinged. Taking you through the events of Julie Tudor's life, past and present, reading her inner dialogue was nuts. Sometimes funny, but definitely painfully awkward to sit in the midst of her delusions. Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for the advanced reader copy and opportunity to join in learning about the madness that is the inner workings of Julie Tudor's mind!

I had so much fun reading this book! I felt like Julie Tudor’s quirky and slightly unhinged personality made her such a fascinating and entertaining protagonist. I loved her obsession with well-maintained spreadsheets and her unapologetic confidence about her beautiful house—it was hard not to laugh at how she rationalized her questionable actions. I found her perspective both hilarious and a bit unsettling in the best way. I couldn’t stop chuckling as the story unfolded. I felt like Julie’s antics to win over Sean were outrageously clever and darkly funny. The way she justified her decisions had me shaking my head and laughing at the same time. I loved how the book kept me guessing about how far she was willing to go to get rid of the competition, and I found myself eagerly turning pages to see what she would do next. Julie’s over-the-top schemes kept the story engaging and fresh. I couldn’t help but root for her in a strange, guilty way—even though I knew her methods were totally wrong. It was such a unique and fun ride.

Overall, I thought this book was an absolute delight. I felt like it had just the right mix of dark humor, suspense, and charm to keep me hooked. It’s a story I’ll remember for its hilariously bold protagonist and wildly entertaining plot.

I really enjoyed this book. Turns out my favorite stories to read have unreliable narrators with a sick humor, haha. Julie Tudor is indeed a psychopath! I thought the story dragged sometimes, especially towards the end, but overall a great read!

This book was a wild ride, and I kept reading to see what Julie would do next. Delusional is an understatement! Her complete misinterpretations of her interactions with other people were jaw-dropping. I couldn’t help but feel second-hand embarrassment because she was just clueless.

Julie is a lonely woman whose delusional fantasy life results in murder. It’s all in a day’s work for her. The author brings her to life in an interesting format. The book shows Julie’s perspective contrasted by the reactions of others, which she disregarded. I wanted to yell at the book, "What are you doing??"

Jennifer Holdich created a compelling character. Her choices are wrong, but she is just blind to this. This book is a good choice for fans of dark humor and suspense.

Julie Tudor is not??? a psychopath??? Omg I loved this book! It was so fun and very entertaining. Julie is absolutely unhinged and a little delulu and I loved that about her. I truly never knew where this book was going or what was going to happen but I kind of loved that about it. It was hilarious, and unhinged, and psychotic but warm. It felt like a cozy night read. I read this in 2 days and I truly was bummed when it was over.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for this ARC!!

✨Thank you @NetGalley and @bookmarked for providing me with an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

✨Julie Tudor is not a psychopath. She is not a stalker. She is not a serial killer. Or so she keeps telling herself that.

✨Julie has a great job, a beautiful house, and a man half her age. The only thing is, the man doesn’t know he’s hers. In fact, he’s in love with someone else.

✨It’s fine—everyone’s fine. Julie has found herself in this exact situation before, and she knows just what to do. She needs to rid any outside competition, and the best part of all, she’s good at it.

✨This book is a trip! With the likes of a quirky FMC such as Eleanor Oliphant in Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine meets chip-on-her-shoulder Kitty Collins in How To Kill Men And Get Away With It and I Bet You’d Look Good In A Coffin, this was a thrillery satire with a psychotic and unreliable narrator who would do anything to get the guy in the end.
I had so much fun hanging out inside Julie Tudor’s deranged mind. A must read!

Julie has a history of falling in love with men who do such a good job of hiding their feelings for her that they date other people. Not to worry, she knows that they have to keep their love secret and can read their clues. She is currently in love with her younger coworker Sean - who got carried away with hiding their love and went so far as to marry someone else! With his marriage over, Julie thinks the coast will be clear for them but he seems to believe their feelings should remain secret.

This book is told from Julie's POV and has flashbacks to previous years (and past relationships). While the writing is good, I found it to be repetitive. Since it is told from Julie's POV, there are very few characters that we truly get to know so it was hard to feel connected to any of them. Julie has no friends and it doesn't seem like she ever did. I kept hoping for something in her past to help explain why she was so delusional, but it was never touched on nor did we get an idea of if she was born this way or developed it and her parents didn't notice. We can assume how other people see her but I think it would have helped to have gotten some other POVs or even 3rd person to really know what she was making up or twisting.

Oh, to have the confidence and be so sure of your place in the world such as Julie! Julie Tudor is not a stalker, or a killer, she just has to help push people along the path of what they really want, whether they realize it or not.

Completely unhinged and I loved every second of this!!!!!! Following JULIE, a seriously delusional woman whose philosophy is ““if I can’t have him, no one can!” This girl is so unhinged but yet makes you so drawn to her. The things she gets away with…. Until she doesn’t. This was a great thriller with lots of relatable characters and such a realistic approach to the mentality everyone had here. Great job on the British humor as well😂 four stars for me and I’ve already been telling all my thriller girlies about this!!!! This just made my top books read this year so far!!! lol forward to more of your work!!

This book is a good bit of unreliable narration, but beyond that I wasn't wowed. I found it hard to follow, although I did appreciate some of the twists.

Although this book didn’t work for me, I can see it garnering a huge audience with people who love a delusional main character. I found Julie frustrating which made the book drag for me a bit. I would have loved to know why she turned into a psychopath.

I went into this thinking I was getting some quirky little thriller. But no. What I got was JULIE.

Julie presents herself as this well-organized woman with a beautiful home, a career that seems to be on track, and an overwhelming obsession with her "soulmate," Sean. And by "soulmate," I mean she’s convinced they’re meant to be—only he has no idea about any of this. And let’s just say, the way her obsession spirals?? Sis wasn’t just daydreaming about a future together—she was eliminating obstacles.🫠

I’ll admit, the first part of the book was a little sluggish for me. But once Julie’s spiral started gaining momentum, I was hooked. I couldn’t look away. The book kept jumping through different timelines, showing us bits and pieces of Julie’s… colorful past. And let me tell you, these little “oopsies” she leaves in her wake? They’ll definitely make you question how far someone can really go for love.

Julie’s narration? This is where the author shines. The way Julie tells her story with such utter conviction—as if her actions are perfectly rational—creates this incredibly unnerving dynamic. The humor in this book is pitch-black. I mean, I laughed but also questioned WHY I’m laughing because nothing that’s happening should be remotely funny. Holdich’s writing toes the line between absurdity and horror, making Julie’s voice unforgettable.

If you’re expecting mind-bending twists or a big “reveal,” you’re in for a letdown. Instead, it gives you a front-row seat to watch a woman’s complete unraveling. It’s repetitive at times, and you do have to suspend a little disbelief, but that’s kind of the point.

Julie is definitely eccentric, to say the least. But if you love a story that leans dark, with an unhinged narrator, sharp humor, and a heavy dose of chaos, then I highly recommend giving this a read. Just… maybe don’t take any relationship advice from Julie, okay?

Julie Tudor has her heart set on Sean, but he's already smitten with someone else, creating a major hurdle for Julie to overcome. This book is an entertaining read, with Julie's antics often landing her in trouble, and it's amusing to see her wriggle out of these predicaments. The story strikes a balance between humor and drama!

Read this if your needing an easy read, about a completely unhinged woman than Julie is your girl!

Thank you Netgalley and Hodder books for the advanced copy.

Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath is one of those books that grabs you by the throat with a perfectly manicured hand and refuses to let go until it’s had its say—sharp, sinister, and hilarious from start to finish.

Julie Tudor is 49. She’s organized, professional, and a firm believer that color-coded spreadsheets are the foundation of a well-run office (and possibly society at large). She owns a beautiful home that may or may not have a shady backstory. And she’s deeply, deeply in love with Sean, her 25-year-old coworker. But Julie is not a stalker. She’s just… invested. In their future. Even if Sean doesn’t know they have one.

What makes this book so compelling is that Julie tells her story with such conviction that you start to question your own judgment. She insists, again and again, that she is not a psychopath—while casually discussing surveillance, manipulation, and, oh yes, maybe a little light murder if the situation calls for it. It’s not personal. It’s just logistics.

The tone is pitch-black comedy, and it works because Jennifer Holdich commits hard to Julie’s voice. Julie is delusional, obsessive, and completely lacking in self-awareness—but she’s also charismatic, funny, and, at times, alarmingly relatable. You laugh because you’re horrified, and then you keep laughing because it’s too uncomfortable not to.

This isn’t a traditional thriller. There are no big twists, no dramatic reveals, and definitely no moral redemption. Instead, it’s a character study of a woman whose brain just doesn’t operate on the same frequency as the rest of society. The suspense doesn’t come from wondering what she’ll do—it’s from the creeping realization that she thinks everything she’s doing is perfectly reasonable.

The story moves between timelines, giving us a glimpse of Julie’s past relationships (read: obsessions) and the long trail of “unfortunate accidents” that seem to follow her. These moments build a pattern that’s darkly funny and more than a little disturbing. The way Holdich balances humor with horror is masterful. You’re laughing one minute and genuinely unsettled the next.

The supporting characters are also well-drawn. They’re not just there to orbit around Julie—they help illuminate her delusions and offer a contrast to her increasingly warped perception of reality. The audiobook narration deserves a shoutout, too. Julie’s voice is brought to life in a way that makes her obsessions feel even more intense, her monologues even more convincing.

This book is perfect for fans of Sweet Pea by C.J. Skuse, Killing Eve, You, or anyone who loves a morally grey, totally unhinged narrator who somehow manages to charm you while plotting someone’s demise. It’s not for the faint of heart—but if you enjoy your humor dark, your protagonists delusional, and your stories just a little off the rails, Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath will be an instant favorite.

It’s uncomfortable in the best way. Funny in the darkest way. And utterly unforgettable.

Trigger warnings: pet death, obsessive behavior, murder, stalking.
