Although this book didn’t work for me, I can see it garnering a huge audience with people who love a delusional main character. I found Julie frustrating which made the book drag for me a bit. I would have loved to know why she turned into a psychopath.

I went into this thinking I was getting some quirky little thriller. But no. What I got was JULIE.
Julie presents herself as this well-organized woman with a beautiful home, a career that seems to be on track, and an overwhelming obsession with her "soulmate," Sean. And by "soulmate," I mean she’s convinced they’re meant to be—only he has no idea about any of this. And let’s just say, the way her obsession spirals?? Sis wasn’t just daydreaming about a future together—she was eliminating obstacles.🫠
I’ll admit, the first part of the book was a little sluggish for me. But once Julie’s spiral started gaining momentum, I was hooked. I couldn’t look away. The book kept jumping through different timelines, showing us bits and pieces of Julie’s… colorful past. And let me tell you, these little “oopsies” she leaves in her wake? They’ll definitely make you question how far someone can really go for love.
Julie’s narration? This is where the author shines. The way Julie tells her story with such utter conviction—as if her actions are perfectly rational—creates this incredibly unnerving dynamic. The humor in this book is pitch-black. I mean, I laughed but also questioned WHY I’m laughing because nothing that’s happening should be remotely funny. Holdich’s writing toes the line between absurdity and horror, making Julie’s voice unforgettable.
If you’re expecting mind-bending twists or a big “reveal,” you’re in for a letdown. Instead, it gives you a front-row seat to watch a woman’s complete unraveling. It’s repetitive at times, and you do have to suspend a little disbelief, but that’s kind of the point.
Julie is definitely eccentric, to say the least. But if you love a story that leans dark, with an unhinged narrator, sharp humor, and a heavy dose of chaos, then I highly recommend giving this a read. Just… maybe don’t take any relationship advice from Julie, okay?

Julie Tudor has her heart set on Sean, but he's already smitten with someone else, creating a major hurdle for Julie to overcome. This book is an entertaining read, with Julie's antics often landing her in trouble, and it's amusing to see her wriggle out of these predicaments. The story strikes a balance between humor and drama!
Read this if your needing an easy read, about a completely unhinged woman than Julie is your girl!
Thank you Netgalley and Hodder books for the advanced copy.

Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath is one of those books that grabs you by the throat with a perfectly manicured hand and refuses to let go until it’s had its say—sharp, sinister, and hilarious from start to finish.
Julie Tudor is 49. She’s organized, professional, and a firm believer that color-coded spreadsheets are the foundation of a well-run office (and possibly society at large). She owns a beautiful home that may or may not have a shady backstory. And she’s deeply, deeply in love with Sean, her 25-year-old coworker. But Julie is not a stalker. She’s just… invested. In their future. Even if Sean doesn’t know they have one.
What makes this book so compelling is that Julie tells her story with such conviction that you start to question your own judgment. She insists, again and again, that she is not a psychopath—while casually discussing surveillance, manipulation, and, oh yes, maybe a little light murder if the situation calls for it. It’s not personal. It’s just logistics.
The tone is pitch-black comedy, and it works because Jennifer Holdich commits hard to Julie’s voice. Julie is delusional, obsessive, and completely lacking in self-awareness—but she’s also charismatic, funny, and, at times, alarmingly relatable. You laugh because you’re horrified, and then you keep laughing because it’s too uncomfortable not to.
This isn’t a traditional thriller. There are no big twists, no dramatic reveals, and definitely no moral redemption. Instead, it’s a character study of a woman whose brain just doesn’t operate on the same frequency as the rest of society. The suspense doesn’t come from wondering what she’ll do—it’s from the creeping realization that she thinks everything she’s doing is perfectly reasonable.
The story moves between timelines, giving us a glimpse of Julie’s past relationships (read: obsessions) and the long trail of “unfortunate accidents” that seem to follow her. These moments build a pattern that’s darkly funny and more than a little disturbing. The way Holdich balances humor with horror is masterful. You’re laughing one minute and genuinely unsettled the next.
The supporting characters are also well-drawn. They’re not just there to orbit around Julie—they help illuminate her delusions and offer a contrast to her increasingly warped perception of reality. The audiobook narration deserves a shoutout, too. Julie’s voice is brought to life in a way that makes her obsessions feel even more intense, her monologues even more convincing.
This book is perfect for fans of Sweet Pea by C.J. Skuse, Killing Eve, You, or anyone who loves a morally grey, totally unhinged narrator who somehow manages to charm you while plotting someone’s demise. It’s not for the faint of heart—but if you enjoy your humor dark, your protagonists delusional, and your stories just a little off the rails, Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath will be an instant favorite.
It’s uncomfortable in the best way. Funny in the darkest way. And utterly unforgettable.
Trigger warnings: pet death, obsessive behavior, murder, stalking.

This book was funny and quirky, interesting and very entertaining. I loved it and recommend others to read it as well. Thank you to Netgalley for this arc.

“Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath” is an incredibly entertaining thriller that I devoured in under a day. The fast-paced narrative kept me hooked from start to finish, with twists and turns that made it impossible to put down. The main character, Julie, is delightfully quirky with a personality that teeters on the edge of being a bit psycho, making her both intriguing and fun to follow. Her unique perspective adds a layer of complexity to the story, keeping you guessing and invested in her journey. Overall, this book is a must-read for fans of suspenseful stories with engaging characters and a gripping plot. 4.5 stars.

Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath by Jennifer Holdrich is a darkly hilarious and wickedly twisted thriller that keeps readers guessing until the very end. Julie is a seemingly put-together woman with a love for organization, a dream home, and a man she’s convinced is her soulmate—except he just doesn’t know it yet. As Julie’s obsession with Sean escalates, so does the body count, in a story laced with biting humor and chilling suspense. With an unreliable yet utterly entertaining narrator, this novel is a sharp and addictive ride that will leave you both horrified and amused in equal measure.

This would have been a good short story - as a novel it just dragged on and felt repetitive. There was no build-up, no surprises, just a real bummer of a story that never really went anywhere.

What happens when your soulmate just doesn't know it yet? Introducing Julie Tudor...who is definitely a psychopath. Told in multiple timelines, this is the tale of Julie and her obsessions...but she doesn't think of them that way. These are just men who haven't realized their undeniable attraction, yet. Funny and terrifying, this was a great read. Recommended.

"Julie Tudor is NOT A Psychopath" is a darkly funny book that made me take a moment after the first few chapters. Julie Tudor is clearly a psychopath—she's funny, delusional, great with spreadsheets, and won't let anyone get between her and her true love. I found myself cringing, laughing out loud, urging her not to make certain choices, and cheering for her at the end. Jennifer Holdich's writing is witty and kept me hooked. I look forward to her next novel. A big thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the advanced copy! I really enjoyed it!

This book was odd but I really enjoyed it. Despite what its title claims Julie Tudor is, in fact, a psychopath but kind of a funny one. I did feel like the end dragged a little bit but still a solid read.

Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath was such a fun read for me. I wouldn't say it was a thriller but a palate cleanser for me and overall I enjoyed it. Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks for this advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Landmark and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review! I was very intrigued by the premise of this book, and the concept is interesting, but I wasn't able to get into the book itself. I thought the plot would be more twisty and exciting, but it was a little too repetitive and slow for my tastes. I think other people will enjoy this more than I did, since my opinion seems like an outlier!

I DNF'd this book. The plot itself is a little disturbing but seems fun....however the writing wasn't great and I could not stand Julie.

I've been telling myself I'm sick of thrillers because of the cheesy, forced twists so I almost didn't read this book--it's not actually a thriller but the title and description had me thinking it was. I'm glad I picked it up because it was a great palate cleanser.
Julie Tudor is an office drone with delusions of grandeur who spends a lifetime obsessing over the wrong men and scheming about how to get rid of the other women who (in her mind) come between them. She's a classic unreliable narrator and the difference between what she thinks of herself and what other people think of her is often vast and very funny.
I don't know why British books are often funnier than American ones. There seems to be a trend for American authors to hold back on their jokes; I often come away from books feeling like the author has a sense of humor but with little to point to that actually made me laugh. To whoever is responsible for this trend: knock it off; we need laughs now more than ever.
Anyway, back to Julie Tudor. She is not the heroine for everybody, that's for sure. In fact she's not a heroine at all and you won't find massive twists or character growth here. But I enjoyed reading about her and will be looking for other books from this author. TW: dead pets. Recommended for fans of Samantha Downing or Amina Akhtar. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing a free copy!

I was really looking forward to this book. The cover pulled me in. I stopped reading at 20%. The writing felt very jumpy and repetitive.
I love an unreliable narrator and I can see how Julie would pull some readers in but thankfully I’m not in her stalking, psychopath way.
I have no doubt other readers will enjoy this but this book was not for me.

⭐️ rating: 3-
Let’s start with the best things about this book: it is a well written, easy read with an interesting premise. Unfortunately, the kitschy story I got was not quite what I expected. I’m sure the “psycho” wording was to make a point that she is a murderer, but Julie is so far from an actual psychopath - she’s just delusional. While psychopaths tend to be charming and intelligent (hello Ted Bundy!), Julie is majorly disliked by all of her peers and family. And by readers of this book. Julie is also dumber than a bag of rocks. I know I’m being picky here, but I think it’s dangerous to propagate myths and misunderstandings about mental health conditions. Beyond my issues with the premise, each story of her obsessions and murders felt extremely repetitive. Most of the other reviews felt like this was such a fun read that I think I was just not quite the target audience here!
I received a copy of this book as an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. #NetGalley #LilReads

Julie Tudor isn’t a stalker…
This one was a wild ride from start to finish. When it starts out I really thought it was going in one direction, but Julie will reveal layer after layer that leaves you feeling unsettled as you realize who Julie is and what Julie thinks. I definitely enjoyed this one.

This was SO GOOD. I literally couldn’t put it down and read it in less than 24 hours. Definitely recommend!!!

"‘She might be a proper weirdo,’ is how Julie’s father describes her. And he's not wrong. Julie certainly possesses a lurkiness about her that puts everyone on edge, and murder doesn’t seem too far out of her reach. However, the portrayal of Julie as an unreliable narrator, though intriguing, falls short. While she is undeniably unlikable, completely insane, and devoid of morals, there's a sense that her character could have been pushed further into these extremes. Yet, instead of feeling like a character with unlimited potential for chaos, she ends up feeling somewhat flat.
The narrative, which holds the promise of being deliciously deranged and full of twists, ultimately becomes repetitive and lacks the intensity it could have had. What could have been a truly gripping, unpredictable psychological thriller instead feels more like a missed opportunity.
For me, this book didn’t quite hit the mark. While I won't actively recommend it, I do hope that other readers may find something within the story that resonates with them more than it did for me.
A big thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book!"
