In Our Infinite Fates, Laura Steven crafts a mesmerizing narrative that traverses time, exploring themes of love, destiny, and the cyclical nature of existence. The story centers on Evelyn, a young woman who possesses the rare ability to recall all her past lives. Tragically, in each incarnation, she meets her end before her eighteenth birthday at the hands of Arden, a soul inexplicably bound to hers. Determined to break this relentless cycle, especially to provide a life-saving bone marrow transplant for her ailing sister, Evelyn embarks on a quest to uncover the reasons behind her perpetual demise and to alter her fate. The novel delves into questions about identity, free will, and the essence of love that transcends lifetimes. This book is recommended for readers who appreciate character-driven stories that blend romance, fantasy, and philosophical musings.

This was a good book. Though not my type. I was definitely sold on the blurb saying it has the Invisible Life of Addie LaRue feels, and I can see it, but the feelings were not there for me. I wish I actually read this with my eyes, instead of doing an audio book. The narrator was great, but the story itself was a slow slow burn. And repetitive.

The whole point of the plot is that these two souls are intertwined, and they keep finding each other every lifetime. And then they kill each other. One keeps saying that they are doing it out of love. But no more is told. And that suspense eventually lost its steam. I can imagine having to want the answer for ages.. I couldn't do it. But the fact is, they do love each other, and their love is fated. One of them just can't remember how or why.

The fact is, it just felt like it dragged out for too long. Yes, the writing style is very comfy and lyrical. It's a beautiful flow of actions, and not one of the typical YA drastic quick changes to what everyone is doing. Though that feeling of needing to change everything was there. Kind of an old soul in a young body, In the end the explanation wasn't clear, or the reasoning. And I really didn't care about this love story. It left a bit of a unsatisfyed taste in my mouth. It is what it is.

Still, I can see how the romantic souls would yearn for this kind of love story and how it will be a big hit. I'm just not one of them.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and Wednesday books for my review copies.

2.5⭐️

I was so hyped for this book and ended up feeling disappointed at how it was executed. To me, things only started getting interesting at the 85% mark. I unfortunately ended up canceling my pre-order and just sticking with my ARC copy.

The premise is so interesting: reincarnated lovers fated to kill each other every lifetime. Sounds like we'd delve into the supernatural, right? Well, for 85% of the book, you'd be wrong. It read more like a contemporary story that gave vague allusions to something deeper going on. That last 15% is when things really picked up for me, when we got an explanation as to what was going on and saw Evelyn and Arden fight to break their curse. Then it just ended.

While there's nothing objectively wrong with this kind of story, it just isn't for me. When you present me with a supernatural premise, I expect a supernatural plot for more than just 15% of the book.

Also, I just didn't buy the love story between Arden and Evelyn. She spends 75% of the book afraid of but attracted to him. She's so scared of him that she goes as far as assaulting and tying up some poor guy just because she thinks he's Arden. And you expect me to buy and root for their love story? Not my thing...

Anyway, there is lots of great potential and beautiful writing, but not for me. I think if you liked Addie Larue, you'd like this one.

Our Infinite Fates is a tragic love story of sorts with a dark twist. I enjoyed the style of alternating between the present and the past as a way of revealing a little bit about the characters and their relationship little by little. While I did like the narrator for this novel, I had to increase the speed as I found the pacing slow. I am not sure if this is due to her reading or the story itself. The writing has a beautiful lyrical quality to it that complements the many lives that the two characters have lived. The story illustrates how important it is to experience things and love to feel like you have truly lived.

Really great story. Perfect for Addie LaRue fans and Greek tragedy fans. There were a few twists I didn't see coming. Really enjoyed listening to the narration.

I went into this book hoping for pain and angst and longing and got all of that and so much more! The two main characters are destined to reincarnate and one will always kill the other in every lifetime. But one has more memories than the other from previous lives.

As the reader, you are slowly given trickles of memories through the author bouncing from present day (2022) and continually back further and further in past lives. The way this story revealed itself was phenomenal. The pain and love built itself with these two people over hundreds of years, forcing you as the reader to feel EVERYTHING for them both and want so much more for them than what each life they lived was giving.

The reveal late in the book about the "why" of it all was nothing short of jaw-dropping. I literally gasped in the middle of the night reading and dropped the book for a couple minutes to give myself time to process the revelation of it all. I would highly recommend this story for lovers of "The Invisible Life of Addie Larue." The vibes are very similar and this one will not disappoint! Thank you so much to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for gifting me an ALC. All opinions in this review are my own. *Note: I read the ebook and listened to audio in tandem. The audio is fabulous and well paced.

This story is a tragic love story that spans lifetimes and many historical events and places.

What worked for me:
- characters that are loyal and likable
- side characters that add to the enjoyment of the story
- interesting time traveling, magical plot with many twists and turns
- a mysterious element that made me want to keep reading so I could find out why this event keeps happening

What didn't work for me:
- I felt like it became a bit repetitive as the plot continued. This same loop just kept happening on and on and on and I thought some of that could have been shortened. I became frustrated and wanted to just get on with it and find out what was going on.

I really loved this book. It one I can read for the first time again.
This story was beautiful I have not read a book like this before. I loved the journey it takes you on with showing how Evelyn and Arden are fated to always be together. It's a slower read but it kept me invested. The narrator was really good.

I was drawn to this book by the cover itself and am so happy that I was given the chance to listen to it. I will say that I wish that the trigger warnings were put out for this as I was not fully prepared for some of the triggers and I had to put the story down. But once I was able to get away for a few days, I was able to come back.

I normally am not a historical person, but I love the way that this one was written, switching back and forth between the modern view and the historical view.

The plot of the story was amazing… I mean who doesn't love star-crossed lovers. I will be revisiting this book when I get my hands on a physical copy to read it that way; I am hoping that the trigger warnings will be listed. The audio book was good, I enjoyed the narrator, but I feel like I would enjoy it more as a physical read.

This book has:
🌑 Reincarnation
🌑 Star crossed lovers
🌑 tones of triggers…. Please make sure that you check this

Have you ever been to Italy?

I was hooked from the very first line. This is a unique love story that crosses centuries. Two soulmates fall in love over and over again, but there’s a catch. Arden, or the version of Arden has killed Evelyn in every life right before her eighteenth birthday. This current life is different. Evelyn is ready to finally break the curse and there are so many twists and turns along the way.

as much as I can acknowledge that this is a beautifully written story, this book just isn’t for me. the narrator is amazing tho.

This is one of those books that even after finish reading, that I just don’t know how I feel about it. On one hand, I really liked the writing and the format of current and then past lives. On the other, I felt it lacked some depth and emotion between the two main characters. Also the ending had me a little lost at first that I had to go back and reread it.

Overall, I think I liked it? But I don’t know if I could recommend it to a broad group of readers.

The narration was done really well and I did enjoy the narrator.

I picked up Our Infinite Fates because of comparisons to Addie LaRue, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The premise—two soulmates destined to kill each other in every lifetime—was intriguing, but the execution didn’t land with me the way I had hoped.

Some flashbacks were compelling and showed their deep connection, but others felt repetitive or too brief, making it hard to fully invest in their story. The main timeline didn’t hold my interest as much as I’d hoped.

The diverse representation was a highlight, but I wanted more buildup to the past lives to strengthen their love story. The ending felt rushed, and the pacing needed work. That said, the plot twist was unexpected, which I appreciated. I’m sure if I had read this as a teenager or young adult, it would have landed much differently.

Thank you, NetGalley & Macmillan Audio, for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Such an amazing book. Truly. It’s sweeping and addictive. The writing is beautiful and the characters wonderful. It’s fantastic.

I personally love to be told a story, and I think this book works excellently as an audiobook. The narrator does a superb job with a varied and difficult text, and was thoroughly enjoyable to listen to. Below I’ve included my review of the book itself, and think a reader would enjoy the story equally, whichever format they prefer.

This book begs the question, what if Stockholm syndrome, but in the multiverse, and make it yearning. And it does a dang good job of it. A couple fated to meet and subsequently kill each other in infinite lifetimes, what’s not to love? This book keeps you in suspense about the why of it all while providing rich enchanting snippets of historical fiction to set the scene. What truly stands out here, besides the incredible story, is the writing, and with a beautiful book of poetry interspersed throughout the text, I couldn’t help but highlight every other line of the ebook. There is a fair bit of murder and death in many different forms (although not graphically depicted) so possibly a trigger warning for that. I honestly think this book could be enjoyable for anyone. It appears to be marketed as YA because amorous scenes are depicted vaguely, but the writing is certainly advanced enough a reader of any age could enjoy. I’m sad I read possibly my favorite book of 2025 this early in the year, but so glad Laura Steven wrote it. Highly recommend.

I really wanted to like Our Infinite Fates, but unfortunately, I just couldn’t connect with it and ended up not finishing. The premise had potential, but the execution fell flat for me. The relationships and characters didn’t draw me in at all—there was no chemistry, no spark, nothing to make me care about their journey. Without that emotional connection, the story felt hollow, and I found myself losing interest.

Sorry to say that this was a definite ‘miss’ for me.
Multiple times I was going to DNF it, but instead I chose to finish it. I’m glad I did, but it really didn’t make me enjoy it any more. 😫

The two main characters have lived MANY lifetimes and have found each other in each and every one of them. And yet, they have killed each other in every one of them, too.
Is it love? Is it hate? Is there something more than meets the eye??

What’s not to like? 🤔🫣

I’ve seen many comparisons to ‘The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue’, but honestly, I loved that book! This one, at least to me, is nothing like it.

There are multiple good ‘threads’ in here, and they definitely kept me invested (at least somewhat), but I just didn’t care for the storyline as a whole…

Overall, 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me. + potential, but just didn’t hit the mark for me!

“I love you, I have loved you, I will love you…”

In a world of immortality and reincarnation, time is not on Evelyn’s side. Her 18th birthday— the day she’s died by for the every lifetime she’s had— is in two weeks, but Evelyn has an extra reason to fight her inevitable fate: her sister needs her marrow to survive.

“Wherever we are next, my heart is with you.”

This has got to be one of the most creative stories I’ve read in a long time, if not forever! The entire book had me guessing why they were cursed with this fate and still, I didn’t guess their truth.

“You are me, I am you and our love is stronger than everything”

I was lucky enough to receive an ALC of this book and let me tell you— the narrator, Sofia Oxenham, has such a smooth and pleasing voice that added another layer to the story itself. In what seemed like no time, I had finished the story! Definitely the type of audiobook you can escape into and mourn the end of; I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of books full of family, mystery and a delicious slice of love that can’t be bound by time or lifespans.
