This was a fantastic book! My 3 year old daughter was drawn to the illustrations and then to the words. In fact, we were praying that night after reading the book earlier, she asked if we could pray for children where people were fighting. This is such an important book and a great starting point for praying for our neighbors around the world. Highly highly recommend!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

As Kaylee and her grandpa read the paper each morning and look for ways to pray for the children around the world. Soon Kaylee finds herself in thought about children from the news. As she is on own, she thinks more and wonders about praying on her own and wonders if its okay and how to pray on our own.
A wonderful journey to learn all about praying on our own. Showing us that we can pray in many ways, even without words. We are shown that God hears and listens to all our prayers, even those we don't know how to say. Wonderful illustrations and an inspirational story works perfectly together to share the wonderful message that no matter how, when or where we pray that every prayer is heard.
A great message and story to share with your family.

This was a very thoughtful book on holding empathy for many different people in many different struggles. It really reminded me of Ms Rachel attracting criticism for fundraising/praying for/supporting both the children of Palestine and the children of Israel, and her words on how her faith compels her to care for all children. I thought this was a really refreshing story and lesson about kindness and praying for all. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read

A delightful book to teach older children to pray not just for their needs, but also for those outside their immediate circle and even those living so far away that they might never meet.
It teaches children to wait on God and take all their concerns to him, even vague, unspoken feelings and nebulous thoughts, to quieten their hearts and to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit whispering what and how to pray. To rest in God's presence at peace, assured that He has heard your prayers. It teaches trust in God and to listen to the still small voice by which God leads his sheep.
Perfect for children aged 5+ or even new believers or anyone who wants to learn how to pray.
The illustrations are apt and colourful.
I was given an e-ARC to read. All opinions expressed here are my own.

I love the concept of this book. It is so thoughtful. Through cute and colorful illustrations we are told a story about a girl with a tender heart burdened to pray for children around the world. It is a wonderful example to help open kids minds and get them thinking about the power of prayer and how they can use it for others their age.

This engaging board book is about a thoughtful young girl with a heart for those in need or are suffering.
Her dog, Keedo brings in the newspaper at breakfast and she and her grandfather are leafing through, when she sees a picture of a young boy who has lost his home in a terrible earthquake. She wonders if God cares for this little homeless boy in Turkey. Kaylee and grandfather have a world map where they pin up prayer requests geographically…orphans in North Korea, flood victims in the United States, children in Iran. It’s a great and practical visual of the need for worldwide prayer.
This little book empowers children with the fact that their prayers matter and God is listening. The illustrations are a beautiful depiction of the Christ like love between Kaylee and her grandfather as they interact and pray together.
I know you must have, as I been at times, at a loss for words when you go to The Lord in prayer. The author encourages readers to allow the Spirit to guide you as you pray… to sit in the quiet and wait for Him to give you words.
Tiny complaint… the text states Keedo, the little dog prays along with Kaylee and grandfather. That may be a stretch.
I don’t know if this will be noticed by children where Kaylee is thinking,
“God do you care about this little boy? She wonders”
Then the story moves to praying and the prayer map and other needs by children in other countries and again she asks, “God, do you care about all these children in the world?”
Finally her answer comes from the Holy Spirit as she prays. This is very abstract for many adults let alone children.
Even though I have some wonderings about the story, I still recommend the book for helping children understand the need for intercessory prayer.

This is a cute book about prayer. The little girl didn’t know what to pray but the Holy Spirit gave her the words. It is a very inspirational book!

This gentle, sweet picture book explores a child's experience feeling burdened by the world's problems and praying with her grandfather. The story highlights that even when we feel helpless and overwhelmed, Jesus knows and loves everyone, and we can talk to Jesus about our concerns. The story is reassuring without any platitudes, and this can be helpful for family contexts and church read-alouds.

This beautifully illustrated book offers a heartfelt exploration of prayer and faith. While the message resonates deeply, its potential to reach an even broader audience could be enhanced by taking a more universal approach to God. The story provides a gentle framework for children to process challenging events they might encounter in today's media, making complex topics accessible through its thoughtful narrative and stunning artwork.
Thank You InterVarsity Press | IVP Kids & NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

What a beautiful book! I love the way the author empowers children--to consider children far away, to feel hard feelings, to choose compassion, to want good for others, to pray faithfully. The illustrations are also beautiful and sweet, and I love the interactions between the girl and her grandfather. Most of all, I'm blown away by the instruction to allow the Spirit to guide the child in her prayers, to sit in the quiet and wait for Him to give her words. I read this with my 8 year old and can't wait to read it with my other kids as well. This is exactly the kind of Children's book I look for.

I love the way Kaylee’s grandfather teaches her to pray for children around the world. Even when she does not know the people she prays for, even when she will never know the answer, even when she is not sure what to pray, she learns that God hears and His Spirit will direct her prayers.
This is a wonderful lesson for children to learn. Homeschoolers might especially enjoy trying a project such as this, but it is a great book for any family. With valuable lessons wrapped in an enjoyable story with colorful illustrations I cannot give it anything other than 5 stars.

Kaylee and her grandfather Halbi love reading the newspaper, faithfully fetched each morning by their dog, Keedo. As they read, they look for ways to pray for the children of the world. But when Kaylee encounters the photo of a sad boy halfway around the world she wonders, Does God really care?
I loved this book and the message it sent! Such an important one for kids to be able to resonate with.
