wow. THIS IS A MASTERPIECEEE. i neeed the physical copy of this. this book is half ilustrations and half story (mix of draws and story) and i really like. i had heard about this story but I didn't really know what it was about (well i did but i didn't remember).i never read something like this before. i fell in love with this format. both protagonist look beautiful together. i highly recommed. "the man" is a policeman and "the woman" is blind or at least never opens her eyes. The names, the places, the time don't matter, because our enjoyment is simply watching them approach each other through the chapters. between art and words the story is told.
i never thought i would like this story so much, more than the story the art is great. the physical copy will probably be a masterpiece.

Honestly speaking, reading this manga felt more akin to flipping through an art book because the art style is absolutely gorgeous. Plus, there were loads of random individual sketches by the artist sprinkled throughout the manga. This is a very vibey manga that isn't for everyone. (Basically imagine watching in the mood for love but only the aesthetic)
The manga chapters are short, offering small glimpses into the characters' lives before the curtain closes around them. There isn't a plot per se; it's more of a slice-of-life manga about their daily routine. On top of that, it's filled with coloured sketches seemingly from a fashion's major sketchbook. The setting has a 1950s aesthetic, which is complemented by a similar art style. The paneling is also similar to classic manga/comic strip paneling style, which is fitting, even though I normally say I prefer elaborate or innovative paneling instead. I think the artist really nailed it with the art style and vibes.
Nonetheless, I still wish that this manga had a more solid plot or sense of direction. I feel like having some semblance of a plot will help to pull the characters and plot tighter together. There were also times when the font choice felt strange (the words written on individual sketches from different character's pov) where they didn't really match the vintage aesthetic. I expected more flair and elegance to the font choice used. This might be a personal choice of mine since no one else has pointed it out.
Overall, this manga is a solid read. I look forward to reading the second volume!

"veil" is a manga that chronicles the chance encounter between a runaway heiress, emma, and a police officer, aleksander. their relationship is a beautiful blend of tenderness and playfulness, existing in a space that is neither fully romantic nor purely platonic—like there is a veil that is waiting to be lifted.
the artwork in the book is nothing short of stunning, with gorgeous illustrations that bring the characters and their world to life. the attention to detail in their outfits adds this extra layer of depth, showing the immense love and care that went into the book's creation. the narrative unfolds through a series of short vignettes, capturing small, mundane moments in their lives and even though emma and aleksander are not a couple yet, their interactions are some of the most sincere ones i've come across in the romance genre.
overall, "veil" is a one-of-a-kind manga that masterfully blends banter, tenderness, and stunning visuals, making it one of the best books i've ever read. i truly can't wait to read the rest of the series <3

Veil is the story of a woman looking for work who runs into a man who knows of a job opening. She’s a runaway heiress, he’s a police officer. She can’t look at him, and he can’t look away from her.
The art style, typography, and organization of this manga are rather different than most of the manga I’ve read, but it’s a nice change of pace! The typography gives Veil a vintage feel, and the organization is utilized to showcase little moments in their lives together. They have such an easy and casual chemistry that seems equal parts friendship and romance. This is a delightful slice of life with a mix of romance. The art is absolutely stunning, and the still shots are truly pieces of art.
I’d recommend this manga to anyone looking for a unique slice of life/romance manga, different from most of the manga on the market. Thank you very much to Netgalley and Udon Entertainment for allowing me to read this e-arc!

I LOOOOOOOOVE KOTTERI'S ART!!!!! I was thrilled to get a review copy of this! This was a gorgeous book and I can't wait to buy a physical copy as soon as it's released. Thank you Udon and NetGalley for the early look!

Wow, this is an absolutely stunning manga! The artwork is gorgeous and all of the colors are so intentionally used for the tone. I absolutely adore the vintage aesthetic and setting as well as all of the dreamy fashion drawings! There’s a sort of magical realism element that surprised me (for example, we heard the POV from a tea pot + cup) that added to the overall dreaminess of the story. This is definitely a slow burn romance and I am eating it right up – the characters are so tender with each other that some panels left me breathless. Can’t wait to read more!

The illustrations are breathtaking. I find the retro style drawings to be so captivating, there were many moments where I wish I was holding the physical copy so I could rip out the pages to hang them up in my house. The still shots of her in different outfits or them sitting together between each scene were so stunning, I’m in awe of the artist. I also really enjoy the handwriting style font. The relationship between the two was intriguing to me as well. I love their playful banter with each other and their ease in every situation knowing the other is there. I would definitely recommend this to people I know.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this ARC!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this manga in exchange for my honest opinion!
This artwork is absolutely stunning, gorgeous, all the words for "beautiful" you can think of. I adore the characters and can't wait to see where their story goes! I've got all my fingers and toes crossed that they end up together.

I liked the monologue in between the stories amd the reveal at the end there names. Story wise , felt very old vogue and snapshots of daily lives between a police officer and a blind rich girl whose a runaway seeking independance is refreshing to see.

The experience of reading this was like thumbing through old vogue patterns while Frank Sinatra sings My Way and there is an Audry Hepburn film on. It feels Vintage, in the most aesthetic of ways.
As for story, I suppose there is one in a very abstract kind of way. This whole thing is a series of snapshots of Him and Her, though they don’t have names but they are revealed to us at the end in a little about me kind of panel. Which was very surprising to me because the girl had my name and was my age, a little freaky since I was not expecting it, but that will earn the book a cookie.
Read this if you are of the classic persuasion and want something nice and slow.

A collection of vignettes that offer snapshots into a relationship between a police officer and a blind runaway. This is all about quiet yearning, glimpses of intimacy and banter. The art style is beautiful and nostalgic. A cosy read that I will be re-reading.

I don’t think I loved the writing style but I am loving the art so much! I do have an appreciation for the relationship between the two MCs. It was very cozy almost and light.

Kotteri's Veil is subtitled as Calming Noir and I found that description very fitting.
The story follows a police officer, Aleksander, who stumbles upon a blind heiress on the run named Emma. He offers her a job and his friendship, and from there the manga follows slice-of-life vignettes of their life together. Their dynamic is immediately heart-warming, and the story is light on plot, heavy on cozy atmosphere and the growing domestic feelings between the two.
I loved the unique formatting of this manga - each chapter is cushioned by detailed art of the characters in the artist's signature style oozing in the settings' mid-1950s aesthetics. There are also short prose sections from each of the characters' perspectives. One point is even from the perspective of the tableware watching the leads eat!
I appreciated several small details that Udon brought to the table with this volume. Instead of the standard block script so common in manga, we have a uniquely slanted font that adds a great deal to the offbeat, charming atmosphere of the story.
Overall, Veil is an appealing, vivid full-color manga with great characters and a great sense of style. I highly recommend this for fans of romance manga interested in a slice-of-life or historical read.
Thank you to Udon Entertainment for my ARC provided through Netgalley.

Wow! What a beautiful collection of "snapshots"! This is definitely more of a leisure read where you want to just sit and stare at the beautiful panels and not one that you rush through. I love the longing that we can feel through the pages from both these characters.

personally the style of writing isn't for me, but I absolutely adore the art and the relationship between our leads which is written so tender and awesome🥹

Sweetest story I've read in a while.
Incredibly beautiful illustrations, I'm weeping at how pretty they are. The chemistry between the main characters are witty and cute, also, gorgeous character design! Fashionable, easy-to-read, fun and lighthearted, I could just stare at them forever.

Veil: Volume 1 by Kotteri is a romance manga that is beautifully drawn. The characters are interesting, and the story is engaging.
The manga is about a rich, blind woman who meets a police officer, and he offers her a job answering phones at the police station. Romance blooms between the woman and the police officer as they get to know each other more!
I highly recommend this manga! Thank you, NetGalley and Udon Entertainment, for sending me a copy of Veil: Volume 1! I can't wait to read the second volume!

A police officer encounters a runaway blind heiress looking for work, and that's where the story begins to unfold.
I honestly didn’t know where the story was going, as I read this with no prior expectations. The story was okay, though not much happened plot-wise. It felt more like glimpses of their relationship with each other. However, I really enjoyed reading their perspectives of one another—it was heartwarming.
The artwork feels like something from a vintage fashion magazine, especially with the detailed wardrobes of each character. I also loved that it was in color, which really brought the artwork to life.

Stunning art style. The narrative is presented as little snapshots into the lives of our main characters. Sweet, romantic, gorgeous.

Thanks to NetGalley and Udon Entertainment for the arc!
Veil is a wonderfully illustrated manga with bits of extra art between these glimpses of story. The characters are fun and interesting, and the art is in full color! It really brings out the fun vibrancy in these little slices of life of each chapter.
Can’t wait to read volume 2!
