This was a stunning series of vignettes featuring a charismatic couple falling for each other. This was almost film-like, glamourous and romantic, with French charisma, phenomenal colour and artwork, and charming characters i fell in love with from page 1. They were so darling with each other and each page and panel carried gorgeous energy as we glimpsed their moments together. And even though this vibe was pretty chill, they were still vibrant and pretty hilarious when they bantered and got cute with each other. This was beautiful and i really enjoyed it and i'm 100% ready to dive right into Veil 2 to see what Emma and Alexander get up to next!

It’s a simple storyline, the story of a man and a woman who met by chance.
Beautiful art, beautiful colors. The narration is not linear and only gives us a glimpse of those strangers who become friends and more with time.

This was a beautiful and wonderful translation of a graphic novel/manga. Such a beautiful book, with art and a simple storyline that’s secretly packed full of content for the reader through the small written excerpts and the art. Absolutely beautiful.

I feel like this manga is all vibes and art and little to no plot. It reads kinda like a classic film. I liked it, but for.p my mangas I like more action than this one. Good for what it was!

This manga was a super quick read and while it took a second to get used to the art style, I really enjoyed the fact it was in color instead of the usual black & white. I think it's cute that this seems like it'll be a slow burn with the two Mmcs living together but I feel like there was a lot of plot holes happening in this for being volume one.

Veil is a gorgeously illustrated slice of life series about a young, wealthy, blind woman and a policeman who becomes her protector when she leaves home to try and discover how to make it on her own. She's quite literally lost on her own in the city. We get very little story and plot overall but each "scene" is a beautifully drawn segment of a moment or a day the pair spend together.

oh my GODDDD THIS WAS SO GOOD!!!! I LOVEEE THE ART STYLE AND THE CHARACTERS ARE SO CUTE!! i cant wait to continue this series!

At first I was a bit confused because it does jump around a bit but after finishing I realized I quite liked the little snippets into their lives. Not to mention the art style is gorgeous. I think someone described the outfits as being from the 1960s and I definitely agree. It had this black and white film vibe to it but achieved that somehow in full color.
I really loved the relationship between the two main characters. It was wholesome and danced around romantic affection for each other. It was very cozy and sweet.

The artwork is beautiful but the captions/story jumped around a lot and I couldn’t make sense of what was happening.

Veil has gorgeous art and compelling characters. I love the art style, the fashion choices and the atmosphere. The main characters are fun and have a gorgeous dynamic between them.

if there's one thing that stood out to me in this book it's the art style. It's giving 1960s Hollywood glam, Marilyn Monroe-era vibes with the witty dialogue of a 1930s black-and-white film. The choice of colour drew me in from the first page and the two main characters ooze with class I wish this was a movie. TBH stories (especially manga) that treat disabled characters as equals to their s/o is not that common? so I’m pretty happy with the way the fmc was written and the thoughtful acts of service by the mmc. The romance was budding (slow burn, just how I like it <3) and the pacing was quick....though you get kind of just get thrown into the story and the chapters are too short for my linking - the overall reading experience is one i will recommend.
thank you netgalley for providing this to me!

I have been waiting for this series to get an English translation for so long, I am so happy that it is finally coming out!! Veil Vol. 1 introduces the audience to Emma and Alexander, an heiress and a cop whose chance encounter begins the story. Full-color mangas are not very common, so I really appreciated the color-enhanced visuals of this series. The art style is gorgeous and elegant, reminding me of something you’d see in a collection of fashion design sketches. The volume consists mainly of vignettes of these 2 characters’ time together. Separating each of these chapters is lovely art of the characters. Given the nature of the storytelling, the audience doesn’t get much information about the characters. While I loved the vibes of the book, I do wish there was a bit more to the story itself as I felt that I barely knew anything about these characters (their names are told to the audience in an afterword rather than the story itself). Thank you Udon Entertainment for providing this eARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I knew from the first page I was going to love this manga, and I wasn't wrong. The art is not only stunning but but matches the story perfectly. Each chapter is a little moment in the lives on the two main characters that show something about their relationship. Even without a solid story line with a beginning, middle and end the manga is still able to convey the love story of Emma and Alexander.

I’m not usually a fan of slice-of-life stories, so Veil just wasn’t for me in terms of its slow-paced, everyday narrative. That said, I loved the art style. While the story didn’t hold my interest, the visuals make Veil worth flipping through. If you enjoy beautifully illustrated, slice-of-life manga, this might be a great read for you.

I loved the vibes of this book. I didn't really know what to expect when i started reading it but I really enjoyed my time with it. The art is beautifull and really colorful. The story is slice of life and that is precisely the what the book is, little snippet of their time together after the first encounter.
Really cute short read that i recommend
Thank to Udon Entertainment ant Netgalley for the ARC

Thank you to Udon Entertainment for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
I was very excited to receive the English translated version as an E-ARC, and I think this has provided me with a lot of enthusiasm for seriously getting back into manga and graphic novels.
Veil is structured as a set of vignettes showing the budding relationship of a blind woman and the policeman she accidentally bumps into on the street. Once I realised that it was not going have a structured plot/narrative in the traditional sense, I was hooked.
What I loved most was the art style. The mangaka evidently has a passion for fashion design, and I thought the addition of standalone illustrations of the characters between chapters added to the dream-like quality of the storytelling (perhaps we are glimpsing how the characters wish to be perceived). The style reminded me of 1920s comics, but the outfits/setting seemed to be more 1940s/50s. This mix works very well. It is stylish, sophisticated, and also playful.
I saw the relationship between the main characters as something that could be interpreted as flirtatious and romantic, but the overarching theme I took away from their bond was trust. She needs to trust him physically, both to guide her through the world and to not overstep any boundaries. He needs to trust her to not to take advantage of his position and that her mysterious past will not get him into trouble. Their teasing of each other probably hints at attraction, but also the potential of a strong platonic friendship.
Overall I found this first volume to be oozing with style and peppered with delightful moments of humour. It was a moreish, dreamlike read and I will definitely move on to the next volume to see how the characters' relationship progresses.

First of all, the art gets a full 5 stars. It’s 10/10, incredible. I loved the style so much. This manga should be in a museum and I’d love physical copies so I can look at them whenever I need to feel something good.
The story fell a little short for me in Vol. 1, though. It's slice of life, so it's just vibes, but I didn't feel super grounded in it. Still, I enjoyed the subtle attraction between the characters and I will give Vol. 2 a try.

Thank you to Udon Entertainment and NetGalley for this e-ARC.
The striking color palette sets the stage for a budding romance between a police officer and a blind woman. The vignettes' visuals are stunning. If you like a sketchbook style of artwork, I highly recommend this manga.
Overall, it's a quick read that builds tension between our two main characters. Their bond develops naturally for people who've just met, so consider this a slow burn relationship. The simple stories for each chapter create a delightful "meet-cute" that managed to enthrall me. And the fashion? It is the peak of style.
I eagerly await more to their story.

Reading manga and graphic novels is something I do for a more relaxing read and to give my eyes something more pleasing to look at. The content in each section is not long, but it is just long enough to show the finer points of this relationship that is forming between him and her. The style of drawing and colors that the author did for this book are very pleasing and fit well in the book. There are some drawings especially the ones that are in the panorama version that I want a copy that I can frame and put up on my wall simply for the art. I did get the pleasure to read the second volume as well and I already want to read it again and continue to read the remaining volumes. My favorite section in this volume would have to be scene 14 "Its Like Burning" where he goes on to support that she is someone who could be a great model and she doesn't want to leave that she enjoys her time with him. Closing out this volume with the scene of saying that she wants to have him stay close. It gave me goosebumps.

This is a stunning piece of work. The artwork is next level and l love the atmosphere it creates. The 50s style and fashion are on full display and the character dynamics are a breath of fresh air. It reminds me of Audrey Hepburn movies. I wish there were more manga like this.
