I have to say I think the translation is wonderful!!! The thing is, tone can be hard to translate from one language to the next but with this translation it’s like I can hear their voices. The translation manages to keep the time period in mind as well, which makes it easier to sink into the manga. I was a little lost at first as the story doesn’t really start out with a typical beginning, but rather, we just sort of jump into the story. Then a few pages, in it’s explained that the main girl has run away from home to live on her own, as her family seems to smother and coddle her because she is blind. So we know that she is a rich girl who ran away from home to live alone, and he is a cop. She starts to work as a receptionist in the police department to gain independence from her family, and as the story progresses, we get to see the characters grow closer and closer , and become more casually intimate with each other, and casual shows of love.

I have to say this too, I love the art!!! I love the art. It took me a second to get used to the tones and shades they used, but the more I read, the more the color choices seemed to work for the story.

Now for the characters; I actually don’t know their names as of pg.47. No names have been mentioned, no setting, or actual time period are said but from the visuals it’s clear enough (aside from their names of course). The main girl is blind, and I like that the fact that she is blind isn’t her entire personality. She’s funny, witty, has style and a fierce streak of independence which makes me love her even more! As for the guy, let me say I love how smitten he is right from the start. There are so many cute scenes, and the art is so cute! I especially loved the scene where she was choosing between two different belts, and asking for his opinion and he responds that both look good (because they both do it’s not him brushing her off). Then to highlight how he understands her, he asks her which of the two belts FEELS better to her!!! There’s also a scene where she blames him for her shopping addiction, and having so many clothes. The best part, is that he helped her choose based on texture and features of the clothes that she would be able to feel, all while keeping the clothes actually stylish!!! It shows how considerate he is of her taste! The story feels like a classic movie in its narration. I love how their relationship is portrayed, as he is not a toxic masculine guy who puts his interests above hers.

The story is a compilation of a bunch of small every day scenes between these two characters, from when they first met onwards. There isn’t a true “plot” per se, but it’s a nice cute read about these two characters who are falling for each other, and teasing each other as we follow small snippets of their lives.

Overall, I think the story is so well done. It’s such a cute story, with a good translation, and we get to see little snippets of their lives. I love the story and I found it so cozy! After reading the first volume, I want to read more. I want to see the characters build their relationship more, and to see more of the everyday scenes between them. It’s safe to say that I’ll be trying to get my hands on the next volume as soon as possible. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a classic and cute story!

I have been wanting an official English translation of "Veil" for forever so I was so happy to find this here for requesting! The art is gorgeous and the vignettes between he and her gives so much emotion and backstory despite just being snapshots of their time together.

It is a lovely and quick read that promises romance and smiles.

I adore everything about this manga the art, the story, the character everything.

It's not a traditional manga as the story itself is just snippets of the character's life together and not a linear story with some overarching plot so the manga is more like hearing someone tell a cute story to friends and family. Which I admit does leave me wanting more but also leaves me content enough that I don't know more if that makes sense, I like that it allows the reader to then come up with their own "what if's" around their story.

The little snippets are separated by the most stunning art ever like plaster it all over my wall I loveee the art style. The simplicity of the drawing also aids the simplicity of the stories as just like the art sometimes we don't need to know every tiny detail about a character's life and we can be content with just the flat colouring.
I really do love this manga, I've been waiting ages for an English release and I'm so happy its happening and I will continue to series to see what other snippets of their lives I get to see. It's also such a light fun read, because of the format it does mean you can just read a tiny snippet and then put the book down or revisit a story just as a one-off because there is no overarching plot other than them being them.

Veil Volume 1 by Kotteri is a delightful blend of wit, heart, and vibrant artistry. The story follows the unlikely connection between a duty-bound police officer and a spirited runaway heiress, brought together by chance and circumstance. Their everyday interactions, filled with clever dialogue and a tender sense of mutual discovery, build a captivating dynamic. The illustrations elevate the experience, bringing warmth and life to every scene. It's a beautifully crafted manga.

The story was okay, not much plot to develop and sadly, it didn’t really grab me. The artwork, though, is amazing – love the style and how everything looked!!

An absolutely GORGEOUS manga. However, there isn't really much of a story? It's all told in very small snapshots, which admittedly in a vaguely linear fashion. About half of this manga is illustrations. The small pieces of story you get are very sweet, and are a slow burn to becoming a lovely romance. The entire energy of this manga is romantic. I wish the story was just a smidgen more concrete, but the art is so good I'm willing to forgive it a little bit. I'm so enamored with this couple, I want to know more!

Unbelievably STUNNING artwork in this manga! Just breathtaking. After you realize there’s no plot, per se, in this, and that it’s all vibes all the time, it becomes such a breath of air. Little idyllic snapshots. Utterly romantic. Alexander and Emma’s relationship is so tender and beautiful. He’s so kind to her. Not to mention the fact that they’re stylish, gorgeous, and genuinely itch that part of your psyche that makes you feel bearably single. Where’s my Alexander?

This artwork was gorgeous! I loved how the story was little snippets of his and her life and small points in their life. It was very romantic, subtle, and so cute.

Kotteri takes us along the daily semi-domestic experiences of a visually impaired well off runaway lady and a dashing police officer. They meet on the streets and are intrigued by each other from the start. The chapters are telling us how their relationship chronologically proceeds but with snippets. Taking a break from work to enjoy a quick lunch, while we follow their banter.
Kotteri’s artwork is stunning, with subtle changes in panels they show how the man is very thoughtful of the visually impaired woman and how he takes care of her. The colouring work is very flat and with limited colours which gives it an old production vibe.
All in all I’m completely in love with Kotteri’s work and hope all other volumes of Veil will be translated as well!

This was my first time reading manga but the cover and description intrigued me. I will say I am still getting used to it. I thought the art was beautiful in this story and i loved the representation of our female mc either being blind/sight impairment. I am going to continue to Veil 2.

Veil: Volume 1by Kotteri, translated by Jocelyne Allen is a manga that follows the story of Her and Him. She is a runaway heiress. He is a police officer. After a chance meeting, which is like something from a classic film, the two characters find their lives enhanced by each other’s company.
Veil: Volume 2 continues their story together and enhances the whole affair.

I received these books as ARCs (Advanced Readers Copy). I mainly picked them because of their covers. They reminded me of the Twilight manga. The two covers form a whole scene when placed side by side.
The story was short, sweet and simple. There isn’t really much to say. It’s a heartwarming short story that won’t take up much time. I enjoyed the art. I do wish the lettering was a bit darker or thicker. I also received it as an ebook and maybe that was the problem. Or the fact that I don’t have the best eyesight. This is a cozy story about a man and a woman. That’s all. It’s captivating while not having to be too much. I would definitely read more manga about Her and Him.

I thought this book was so tender and cute. I loved Emma and Alexander. I found them to be so cute as their relationship grew and I loved the ways they looked after one another and showed that they cared for one another in each little story that made up the volume. But the thing I loved the most was the art. The art is what piqued my interest in the story and what I loved the most about it. The art is stunning and I love the character designs, color scheme, and design of the panels.

This was an interesting reading experience. It is not quite the same as my previous experiences reading a traditional manga; it was written as a series of short scenes between the two characters who met by chance one day and begin working together at the local police station. The female main character is blind and at the beginning of the book is depicted as using a can for accessibility but within the story it is reported she stops using it and it is unclear what other aid she may be using? Maybe just the MMC to guide her?
The art is vibrant and really enjoyable to look at. I am interested to see how it continues in Volume 2.

Veil is soft and decadent, perfect for a cozy winter afternoon.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not super well versed in manga. I’ve read a couple of series, and have two or three on my shelf, but wouldn’t consider myself a connoisseur. That said, Veil was unlike any of the manga I’ve read before.

Veil piqued my interest visually before anything else. Seeing the cover of the first and second volumes, and the way they twined together and completed one another caught my attention. So, that means that I have to talk about the art style first, right? This manga looks like it’s come straight out of a vintage Vogue magazine. It reminds me remarkably of the design sketches on vintage sewing patterns. Each panel is truly a piece of art, and the illustrations between chapters could truly be something I’d expect to see on an art collectors wall or in the sketchbook of a fashion designer. The lines and colors are delicate but purposeful, decadent but meaningful. Picking up a copy of Veil is worth it just to flip through the illustrations.

Don’t go into Veil expecting a traditional narrative. The chapters in Veil carefully weaves around all the big events to show the reader small glimpses into Emma and Alexander’s moments together. We don’t even learn the character’s names until their character sheets listed in the back of the book. The names aren’t important, what’s important is their moments together, the way their lives wrap around one another, the soft intimacy of their interactions.

This manga was perfect for someone like me who doesn’t enjoy reading gratuitous romance in, well, just about anything. Each of the snapshots are full of connection, intimacy, and companionship without their being a need for more. The characters dance together and around one another without the pressure of needing to be anything different and more than what they already are.

As I said in the beginning, this manga was perfect for a cozy afternoon. There’s no drama or big conflicts. Instead, we’re given an entire book that only includes all the soft moments between two deeply affectionate characters. I’m appreciative of the translation team for gracing us English-speakers with such a cozy, indulgent piece of art.

Veil is about a blind heiress, Emma, accidentally running into a policeman, Alexander, and their lives together afterward. Through short, random glimpses of their everyday lives we learn more and more about them.

This manga is perfect and groundbreaking in my opinion. Let me talk about the best part of this manga. The art style. Reminiscent of old school vogue fashion illustrations, if this story was horrible it would be well worth a purchase purely for the drawings. Luckily, the plot is just as good. These characters are crafted with such utter tenderness.

The next best thing? The characters themselves. While the story is more of a series than a serial (glimpses of their lives, each short chapter having it's own seeming menial narrative) which some people might not like, I LOVE. It really feels like catching a glimpse of these two people falling more and more in love through small gestures. Him moving a table for her she can't see, her asking him to stop smoking. You watch these two people who met each other by chance express their newly budding love for each other in snapshots, stolen moment, and gentle gestures.

There's tenderness and heart-warming interactions in every small detail this author put into their work, from the art to the character.

This while being separated by beautiful art work and designs and little written stories? I don't think it could be any better. I will be purchasing a physical copy of this.

The story overall was fine, it didn't hook me enough for me to go racing after the next volume but the artwork is just out of this world. I love the art style and the colors used so much.

I loved the way this manga mixes art, fashion, sequential storytelling and illustration. Sometimes a fashion magazine, sometimes with plain text, this work of art maintains a fresh approach to a witty love story. The art of Kotteri is breathtaking, she uses saturated colours and a loose line to draw her characters in such a stylish way, I've never seen something like this. I'm going to read the whole series.
