The artworks continues to bring delight. My day is instantly cheered up by their dynamics. Couldn't wait to read more works by Kotteri.

Veil is a beautiful collection of short, illustrated vignettes featuring a young blind woman eager to explore life to the fullest, and a young police officer who is intrigued by her from the very beginning.

These slice-of-life vignettes follow Emma, a wealthy young woman who wants to experience life as it truly is, not through the sheltered lens of her family, and Aleksander, a city police officer who happens to meet her by chance on the streets of the city. As their story continues in volume 2, you see their friendship gradually hint at something more, even if they haven't fully admitted it yet. The cat-and-mouse game they play, teasing each other until someone breaks, is so incredibly entertaining to watch.

The illustrations are beautiful, featuring a rich, natural tone that gives the appearance of combining elements of oil paint and watercolor. I believe this manga would appeal to both older teens and adults. The vignettes are short and reminiscent of a 1920s noir film, with a soft and elegant artwork style.

Improvements from the last volume include the style choices of the monologues, which previously contained inaccessible text in volume 1. In this volume, a few sections of text in "Her Monologue" and both pages of the "Afterword" overlap with the sepia-colored illustrations. For individuals with vision impairments, including myself, reading the text can be difficult. While the "Her Monologue" sections were minimal and easier to read due to their placement, the "Afterword" section was more challenging to read, as it was very sepia-heavy and caused the text to blend due to low contrast.

Volume two sees the couple continue their witty repartee as they share a flat and get to know each other. The artwork is gentle and colourful and complements the text but the reader is left wondering where the story is going and who the couple really are. It is gentle, mysterious, colourful and engaging.

Veil by Kotteri is an episodic period romance story set in a city reminiscent of vintage Europe/Russia, and follows the budding relationship between a blind heiress and a devoted cop. Volume 2 focuses more on the two unnamed main characters, diving deeper into their relationship and emphasizing the slow burn, friends-to-lovers romance.

While it maintains its half art book, half comic format, the plot feels more cohesive and the flow more readable. The artwork is just as stunning as Volume 1, very much like Witch Hat Atelier in its detail and standards of quality. The colors are gorgeously rendered, and the monologue sections are quite poetic--kudos to both the original creator and to the translator for their efforts. This volume also includes an afterword from the creator, which offers more background information about this story--the comic was originally a doujinshi before it was officially serialized, and volumes one and two were released together, which makes a lot of sense for the structure thus far. I eagerly await future installments of this series--it's wonderfully done!

Readers who enjoy this series may also enjoy: Fall In Love, You False Angels by Coco Uzuki, Witch Hat Atelier by Kamome Shirahama, Yotsuba&! by Kiyohiko Azuma, Eighty Days by A.C. Esguerra, and Barnstormers by Scott Snyder, among others.

This story was a fun visual vignette. I loved the art style and felt that a lot was conveyed with so few words. The tension and emotion built through the author's visual narrative were well done and made for a quick and intriguing read.

As their story continues, we get to see them grow closer—possibly becoming more than just friends. Their relationship is so sweet, and the story itself is just super cute. I can’t wait to see where things go for them in the future!

Veil: Calme noir, Volume 2 by Kotteri really won me over a long way after reading the first volume. For some reason, even though I still wish the story was a bit more fleshed out, I really grew to appreciate the art style and character snapshots we did get, more than the first time. I'm actually hoping for more volumes! This is such a sexy, vague, sneaky story where you're given a lot of liberties to suss out what's going on behind the scenes. I don't know how to explain better, but maybe because I knew more about what to expect, I enjoyed this volume much more than the first one.

Phenomenal, ambiguous, romantic, platonic, domestic and cozily charming. Veil is a study in contrasts, sometimes in the same scene between two characters who are, regardless of their relationship's nature, indelibly intimate with each other.

We find ourselves with volume two of this manga that has an aesthetic that I found curious and very attractive, we continue with the same entertainment and elegance that characterized the first volume. I must say that I love how they portray the artistic and vintage factor in the clothes worn by each character.

Thanks to Netgalley the publisher for providing me with this ARc.

I really enjoy art and the litter designs in between. The story is easy to follow and I like the little comics of them together.

The perfect balance between cool fashion plate aesthetics, cozy interior settings, and silly romantic scenarios this author-artist keeps while also maintaining that air of mystique around her characters... one can only hope to achieve this one day.

Veil Volume 2: Calming Noir is the continuation of the first volume and as such, maintains the fascinating visual quality that surrounds the tender story of the two protagonists. It is a warm, entertaining and viasually beautiful journey.
Thanks to NetGalley and publisher for this advanced reader's copy.

The strange relationship between a young constable and a blind heiress continues. It's still only short scenes where nothing much happens and nothing evolves, followed by a lot of stylish art. As much as I enjoy this visually, it's a bit tiring as a story.

Ahh this volume was just soooo chill. Reading this feel like being wrapped in her luxurious coats, with him watching over you with a gentle smile. The vignettes in this volume were much more concise than the first one, and just as beautiful! I really love the art style, it has a vintage feel that you dont often see anymore. I can't wait to continue with this series

I adore everything about this. Every interaction between these two lowers my blood pressure, that's how wholesome it is. It's nothing but sweetness and support with a sweet dose of banter that hits all the right spots.

The art is utterly perfect; from the line work to the coloring and the amazing attention to detail put into every outfit, there is not a single thing to criticize.

Delighted thanks to NetGalley and UDON Entertainment for the delightful read!

Volume two feels very much as an art piece and a love story all in one.

There were so many cute and swoon worthy moments that will keep anyone's heart hooked.

The art is what really draws you in to the romantic feel of this story, you are taking a glimpse inside a heart in the most beautiful way.

Where there is no real "Plot" it almost flows together as a collection of beautiful moments stung together , leaving the reader to fill in the blanks and become apart of the experience.

Thank you NetGalley and UDON Entertainment for the Digital ARC for review.

I wanted to give this one a chance as well but it wasn't my cup of tea. The story was very disorganized and really hard to follow. Not my favorite manga story.

Veil Volume 2: Calming Noir, translated by Jocelyne Allen, is a beautifully illustrated and emotionally satisfying continuation of the story. This time around, (versus Vol.1) the narrative is much more grounded and easier to follow, which made the relationship between the two main characters feel more real and meaningful. There’s a quiet elegance to the way their connection unfolds—subtle, tender, and filled with nuance.

The artwork is, once again, exquisite—ethereal and expressive, with a strong sense of atmosphere and mood. I often found myself lingering on certain panels just to take in the beauty of the linework and composition. The visuals alone are a reason to pick up this volume, but unlike the first, the story here is strong enough to match.

It’s a lovely blend of visual storytelling and emotional depth, and it left me feeling much more connected to the characters and their world. I’m genuinely looking forward to what comes next.

Thank you to NetGalley and Udon Entertainment for the opportunity to read this early. Veil Volume 2: Calming Noir is set to be released on July 15, 2025.

Once again, the artwork was beautiful, and I loved it. Just like the first volume, the storytelling was simple. I also enjoyed the interactions. I had good time reading this manga.

In Volume 2 in a series centered around the story of Emma, a runaway heiress turned phone operator, and Alexander, a Police Security officer. The flirtation intensifies in this manga as you can sense their growing passion towards each other. Again, the author uses beautiful illustrations and witty dialogue to show their building relationship. I can not wait for the next installment in this series.
