This continues to be essentially a cute collection of sketches and comics of the author's two OCs. A sweet and swift read, with some nice moment shown.

In this second volume of Veil, we keep following our characters: Him (the police officer) and Her (the runaway heiress). Still with insane art, colorful and vibrant, jumping from the page. There's still not a define or linear plot, just sweet and little moments between the characters, but the scenes feel less disjointed and the romance keeps growing slowly but steady.

I also made a review for the first volume of Veil where I said I didn't enjoy it very much, but that I could see the potential and the appeal it could have to other people who were more fervent fans of the romance genre. While I still stick to my opinion, I also wanted to give the second volume a chance since the publisher was kind enough to lend me an e-ARC of the second one, where I hoped that, maybe, the story could get better.

And it did. So I'm glad I gave it a chance, because I enjoyed the art so much and It would have been a (personal) waste not to like something like Veil, when it is so well crafted and drawn.

This second volume, even though, as mentioned before, still following a non-linear plot, is far more coherent, enjoyable and sweet, bordering on sugary. I think I like this one better than the first because we see the characters outside their houses and their jobs, meaning, they have more moments as ordinary people, with no other context in the middle than getting to know each other in depth. And I *do* feel like I know the characters more than I did at the end of volume 1, which I appreciate, or else I'm sure this review would be on the more negative side.
As I'm not a die hard fan of romance, if I'm to read one at least I need depth of character for it to work for me. And Kotteri manages to do that with this second volume, so they finally won me to keep reading their series when more volumes eventually come out.

To sum up: the art is as good as in the first one, but the execution of the story is far better than in the first one, in my opinion.

I still recommend Veil to fans of reeeeally slow burn romances, that like well-crafted characters, all wrapped in stunning art that crafts a sweet and cozy ambient.

They are both so innocent and they have a beautiful relationship. They captivated me, and for some reason I just get this nostalgic sensation, it’s feels awesome. I never felt this way about a manga. I am so happy that I got to experience this. It’s very whole hearted

Hand down my favorite manga of all times~

I absolutely loved the art style in this volume even more than the first. The mangaka truly enhanced the characters’ visuals, making them feel even more refined and expressive. The colors are absolutely stunning—each panel is so vibrant and beautifully composed that I found myself admiring the details before moving on. The characters now have a wider range of facial expressions, adding more depth to their personalities, and I can clearly see how the mangaka leveled up in this aspect.

Not only did the artwork improve, but I also found the scenes in this volume much more engaging than in the first. The storytelling feels more dynamic, and I enjoyed how the interactions between the characters felt even more natural and immersive. It was a great improvement that made me appreciate this collection even more!

This had a lot more artwork pages than vol 1 it felt like to me. Which I did find those pretty but again I wasn’t super crazy about the story and its progression. I didn’t think it flowed very well, I thought it was jumping around. Art style still wasn’t my fave either.

This is a review for both the first and second volumes of Veil, partly because there is no ‘linear’ story to the manga and partly because it just feels right to put them together.
Veil follows the story of Her, a young bling woman, and Him, a police officer, who meet by happenstance and become close friends (and maybe more).
Veil gives the impression of 20-40’s, retro East-Europe in an idealistic sense. The bright color palette, the beautiful clothing, and the dreamy way the characters are drawn draws the reader in, wanting to know more and more about Him and Her. It’s almost like watching a colorized vintage film. The calm, quiet sense of the story is something I could easily get lost in. I thought it was interesting that the mangaka said in the notes that their relationship is undefined—it could be romance, but it could also be they’re just close friends, and honestly I like that ambiguity. ‘Him’ and ‘Her’ have a precious relationship I would love to see more of.
Overall, Veil is perfect for lovers of all things retro.

Thank you to Udon Entertainment for giving an electronic arc of this manga! The vintage art style developed even further in this volume, creating an even dreamier and softer atmosphere. I loved how the author focused on the small intimacies, the brushing of hands, touching the other’s hair, sitting with your feet in someone’s lap. It upped the tension and the chemistry was palpable. I also loved the two main characters’ banter — their dynamic is playful but caring. Overall, I would rate it 3.75 🌟

⟢ the feels like a gallery of paintings where each artwork tells a different part of a larger story. while they stand alone beautifully, together they create a rich tapestry of emotions and connections that invites us readers to speculate on the deeper relationships between the him and her.

again, amazing artwork. every scene took my breath away and i love the tidbit drawings we get in between scenes.

by the second volume, i just accepted that the story consists of a series of vignettes focusing on Emma and Alexander's daily life and relationship situationship. i still stand by my initial point from the first volume that we should illustrate and prioritize the scenes depicted in the monologues in addition to the random scenes we are already getting, as the monologues essentially contain the main storyline. at this point, we can only speculate about the moments in between as we follow their evolving relationship.

here are some cute moments that deserve special mention:

⟢ Emma took photos of the sounds she heard because she found them astonishing. it took me a moment to fully grasp this, as i never imagined someone with this disability could perceive things that way, which was very insensitive of me. it was truly an eye-opener.

⟢ Alexander noticed the moles on Emma's thighs, which she drew constellations and signed them with his name.

⟢ Scene 23: "Touch in a Dream”— The way she describes how she experiences dreams and the sensations she feels is simply beautiful.

this honestly feels like peeling back the layers of an onion. wherein each layer reveals a new flavor and depth, making the experience richer and more enjoyable as you dive deeper into the story. we just have to accept that this is the beauty and unique charm of Veil.

I will be combining my experience reading volumes 1 and 2 together as I read them back-to-back. I'd been seeing art from this manga online for quite some time and was immediately captivated by the detail in them. Volume 1 starts out covering the meeting of the main characters in a couple of panels and the rest of the story is told through vignettes that show bits and pieces of their growing relationship. This means that there isn't necessarily continuity to the story as each vignette stands on its own but another thing I really appreciate about this style of storytelling is how the art draws the reader or consumer in, but it's interactive because you have to fill in some parts of the story yourself. That might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it was different in a good way for me!

TLDR: A blind woman and a police officer have a chance encounter which a sweet friendship blooms from. Full of beautiful art. 4 stars

A blind woman bumps into a man. They get to know each other, and he offers her a job. They are now coworkers. Their relationship deepens, but they still keep a respectful distance.

These two are so sweet. They really have THE relationship with each other. They tease and comfort, push each other up, and protect each other. I really enjoyed reading about these two. Here in volume 2 we have different characters that I suspect will show up in later volumes. Relationship is hard to pinpoint, and might be a "rival" character. We will see how it pans out, if they even return again.

Story for volume 2 seems to have a centric and unexpected theme ... waking up and going to sleep? I found this surprisingly sweet and domestic. Something about more domestic themes hit my heart so nicely. So if you wish to read about characters waking up and falling asleep, this is the one.

The art in this manga is BANGER. I really loved it. In between chapters you get these beautiful prints of him and her. Separate, and together. Absolutely stunning. I might in part have picked this up because I admire the artist's work.

Audience is hard to pinpoint. It fits for any age from middle school and up. Exactly what kind of person, I am not sure. It fit for me because of the art, it might for you too. Maybe it is an "everyone should read this" kind of thing.

I am giving this 4 stars. Stunning art, sweet panels, and I know there is more to come. Still hold the opinion that if any of the other volumes get translated I will be reading them too. No questions asked. Can't wait! Highly recommend.

My only quip was not seeing any progression in regard to the slow burn. A beautiful story, nonetheless.

This series is one that I have heard about because of the cover and romance. Now, upon reading it, it definitely is a unique one that is worth the experience if you enjoy romance and classic art. There are also some monologue pages that are necessary to read to understand more about the characters, so if you do not like that, I don't recommend it. I know it's going to be hard for me to wait for more. However, I think for anyone that wants to try this because of the hype, I would try it from the library or Barnes and Noble (because of the unique formatting of story plus it's not guaranteed to be wrapped) Because of these points, I have to give this a 5 out of 5 stars

As this art exhibit continues, so does my love for the beauty of it. I couldn't take my eyes off of the pages if I tried.

This continues to be a charming, relaxing read. In this volume our leads continue to draw closer through their every day lives together.

I appreciate little details that bring them together- they both notice things about each other and bring out new experiences for each other.

I also like the attention put to Emma's experiences as a blind person- her hesitancy to visit the doctor, the way she dreams in sensations and experiences, and taking pictures of sounds that interest her to explore the world around her.

Overall, Veil is a breath of fresh air in manga format. I enjoyed the second volume just as much as the first, and I would recommend it for fans of slice of life, romantic, and historical manga.

volume 2 has art that continues to be the eye candy i expected after finishing volume 1! i love the story between the two characters, the romance is so organic! i love a good slow burn but i love a simmer burn as well (hahah) - their interactions, their banter and the way they look out for each other in their own way? I AM SAT. As I kept reading the story, you can genuinely tell these characters enjoy each other's company and those are the best foundations for a relationship <3

i can sit here and type an essay about how visually appealing the art style is, but then everyone would get bored. I was never an art student but i can appreciate a good colour palette and style.

It seems difficult to put a label on the two main characters relationship status. Although it is not the regular romance type graphic novel/manga that I’d read, it has a different aspect to it that is appealing to many audiences. They obviously care about one another. It’s such an interesting experience to watch Her navigate the world by touch, which opens new possibilities and sensations that one may not experience without one sense gone. I’m ready for the next installment to open up our hearts and minds further to these two.

La continuación de este manga no me decepcionó. Es una historia que al leerla quieres seguir leyendo más. Una vez terminas estas triste por haberla acabado tan rápido. Las gráficas son muy lindas y esta bien escrita. Esta contada por pequeños episodios lindos. Es un slow burn y se siente la tensión de los personajes, que hasta es gracioso.

I really liked this - the art style is very nostalgic. Like a retro fashion magazine at times. The chapters we get in vol. 2 have our duo growing closer and it was cute and romantic. Even better than Vol. 1!

This series is adorable. I cannot wait for the third translation. This is something so lighthearted that it gives such a warm feeling to the heart.
