Morrissey. A person who can give a single name and many people know immediately who the person is. The former singer of the Smiths, and a successful solo career. An iconoclast, and interesting person.

This autobiography reads perhaps like James Joyce Ulysses. In that I mean a somewhat dense, and atypical account of the singer's life and personal journey.

Unfortunately, I was never a huge fan of Ulysses, so perhaps this means I was not a huge fan of this book. Not because I didn't find it interesting, but perhaps this was not a lyrical, straight narrative for me. In fact, this was somewhat of a dense read, at times tough to continue to read.

I also think for me this suffered from the Britishness of the singer's life. His somewhat hard-scrabble Manchester childhood and his rise to fame.

A fan would find this interesting, but on it's own, it is a somewhat tough read. I am happy to have leaned more of someone I have listened to for decades, but not a easy account in many way.
