The Baby Swap
by Daniel Hurst
Date of publication: Feb 19, 2025

Daniel Hurst has mastered the art of the psychological thriller, and The Baby Swap is another testament to his ability to weave tension, deception, and jaw-dropping twists into a gripping narrative. If you’ve read his books before, you know to expect an intricate web of secrets, and this one delivers—twists galore, culminating in a final shocker that will leave you speechless.

The premise is every mother’s nightmare: a woman cradles a newborn in her arms, but something is terribly wrong. She knows this isn’t her baby. But no one believes her. On the other side of the story, another woman harbors a devastating secret—she intentionally swapped the babies. But why? And what consequences will unfold if the truth comes to light?

Hurst crafts characters that are deeply flawed yet utterly compelling. They may not always be likable, but they feel real—driven by desperation, fear, and the kind of choices that spiral into irreversible consequences. The alternating perspectives build suspense masterfully, keeping readers hooked as the full picture slowly comes into focus.

And then there’s the final twist. Just when you think you have it figured out, Hurst flips everything upside down. It’s the kind of ending that makes you rethink everything you just read, proving once again that his storytelling never disappoints.

If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers packed with relentless tension, morally complex characters, and jaw-dropping reveals, The Baby Swap is a must-read.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me a copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
I wanted to like this so much. The premise is great, someone intentionally swapping babies. So many great ways it could have gone, why, how, etc. but for me this just fell incredibly short. The plot felt predictable and unrealistic. The characters were highly unlikeable and felt very juvenile. The reasons for swapping the babies was so ridiculous I couldn't help but roll my eyes. The epilogue took me by surprise but even then, that character became even more unlikeable. Everyone just felt like Regina George's from mean girls. I think fans of books like The Housemaid would like this, unfortunately that's not my kind of story. I did enjoy that the chapters were quick and it was an easy read.

Arc Review of The baby swap by Daniel Hurt.

Thank you Negalley and bookouture for the arc of The baby swap by Daniel Hurst.

Daniel Hurst has become one of my new favorite authors. From the beginning to the end i was hooked i could not put it down. Daniel Hurst delivers another gripping physiological thriller the baby swap with a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat and also questioning whos side your on. The epilogue was wild. Daniel Hurst does an amazing job at telling the story from the two different characters point of view. I would recommend this read to anyone. it was a easy, fast paced and entertaining read. I will definitely be reading more of his books.

think this is every mother’s worse nightmare. And this happening from another patience, compared to a hospital mishap is more terrifying.

A fantastic thriller-lots of twists and turns. You get hooked from the start and are down a path trying to decide how two babies ended up swapped and the cause of their actions. A book that was hard to put down as the chapters were short, you constantly found yourself saying okay, just one more because you wanted to know exactly what happened next. Daniel will be an author that I look forward to reading more of and will be adding future books to my list.

Wow! That epilogue summed everything up and it was an amazing one. Each chapter left me wanting more, there were twists here twists there. A powerful and shocking storyline! 100% recommended as a fast paced read to keep you on the edge!
As a mother myself, I had experienced every emotion going while reading this, I put myself in ‘Her’ shoes and it had me screaming, why would you even do that? What!!!!! Constantly. I was intrigued trying to figure out the twists but I just couldn’t until they were revealed. Really enjoyed this, fast paced, overall a fantastic read. Thankyou for the arc!!

You just cant got wrong with a novel by Daniel. This was very good. Very well written, the characters grew and you felt for all of them. I really felt for Avril, can you imagine going home with a baby and realising something is wrong and you don't think it's the baby you gave birth to. This was told in multi POV switching from Avril to Jade in alternate chapters. The story flowed nicely.

The Baby Swap by Daniel Hurst is an intriguing thriller. Two women with issues in the past give birth in the same ward on the same day. One decides to seize the opportunity to take revenge and we're led on a journey of suspense and twists. The twist at the end was well done. A good read.
I got the ARC from Bookouture via Netgalley. All opinions expressed are mine

I enjoyed reading this book, but it wasn't my favourite of his. I felt there was a lot going on,but my heart was in my mouth at some points so it's still a really good read!!
I didn't guess the ending, but I had my suspicions!!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was easily a “just finish one more chapter” kind of book! How far will Jade and Avril go to out do one another to get revenge! Baby Swap is a fast paced read with a great twist I didn’t see coming!
Thank so much to Daniel Hurst, Net Galley and Boookouture for an ARC! Cheers to Release Day!

Plenty of twists and turns in this thriller and three very mixed up characters. A story of revenge and jealousy.

Idk if my head went for a twist, Daniel Hurst wrote another great book 📖 or both 🤪 Either way, I'm literally floored with how all of the events went down throughout this book 👏🏼 Great job AGAIN 🥳🥳

Jade truly just wanted a dream job working with cosmetics, she ended up getting turned down before the interview; she felt like things couldn't get worse. She wanted revenge on the interviewer.

Avril had other plans. She ended up following Bobby out of the theater after a movie with his date and they ended up becoming a couple, and later married, and now they are pregnant awaiting the arrival of their son.

But, little does Avril know there might be some people looking out for her? 👀 In a good way or bad way? How could anyone want revenge on someone that has succeeded so greatly in life?

In this upcoming thriller that is releasing on February 19th, 2025, it is a heart stopping thriller that will have you wondering "who actually did it" and the ending will have you feeling like you had it figured out but then you're absolutely jaw dropped with the turn of events!

Brilliant.
I absolutely loved this book!
Lots of twists and turns along the way. Nothing too mind blowing but a fab story to keep me hooked in.

Loved the different characters and how we can see what happens when you keep pursuing something out of principle. There are lots of lessons in this book!

Daniel Hursts writing style is just effortless to read so I flew through this!

Daniel Hurst has crafted another great thriller/suspense book with The Baby Swap. From the very first page, I was hooked, desperately trying to unravel the twisted motives behind the shocking baby swap. I must’ve had my mouth wide open so many times saying “what the heck?!” There were so many twists that it gave me whiplash! I thought I had the ending figured out but nope, surprised me as he always does. This is book #38 I’ve read of his and I already can’t wait for his next thriller!

This book adds another spin to the babies that have been swapped at birth. But the two babies that had been swapped in this story had to be around the same weight, and the same sex.Why would you want to swap your own baby for someone else's? You'll have to read the book to find out.

There was something gripping me from the first page. Maybe I just knew this was going to be different and thrilling from the start. I could not and did not want to put the book down. I could not decide which of the women's side I was on, my opinion kept changing. This is a story of revenge. I enjoyed reading the women's backstories, and it goes to show that by doing one thing can lead on to bigger issues. The characters are realtable and flawed.

I had a hard time getting through this book, it felt unnecessarily long and drawn out until close to the end it got really good! Then the twists came out of nowhere and I’m glad I stuck through it!

Great story about revenge. Every character is developed so well, I did not expect the twists of course.

Got this from Netgalley and was excited to read it. A crazy story about equally unlikeable people caught in an unlikely revenge olympics. I tried to like this book but I couldn't get over the baby factor. Too worried about the babies to enjoy the shenanigans. Its was a fast paced read that would likely satisfy a less worry wart reader.
