Luke Wolfe is a star soccer player forced to date the celebrity actress Abigail Hunt by the owners of the Aces if he wants to be taken off the no trades list. He does want off this list for personal reasons so he agrees to take her out. What he doesn't anticipate is actually liking her.
I went into this blind and loved every minute of it. Abigail and Luke were so swoon worthy. There was laughter, frustration and tears and still I recommend this book to all romance readers.

this review will have spoilers, apologies in advance.
I don't know what I just read. This is the opposite of relationship goals.
she finds out he’s lying about something that doesn’t even matter anymore that I’ve seen in twelve other romance books but then goes on a weird revenge plot to get him to break up with her by almost getting them killed on the highway in a car she can’t drive, catching a lobster for dinner and ending up at the hospital instead, and then trying out a kink that neither of them is actually into???

I feel bad for the cat they have which was the only highlight of the book

The synopsis calls this Ted Lasso meets How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and I have to agree that’s the exactly vibe. Abigail is a very similar personality to Keeley Jones and Luke gives off grumpy jerk vibes like Roy Kent, but instead of a niece showing his gooey side, it’s his hobby of rescuing and fostering kittens. And then about halfway-ish, the miscommunication trope ended up turning the story a bit and then Abigail wanted to force a public breakup by trying very hard to be annoying, weird, and over the top like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days instead of talking about her feelings.
I think this will be a huge hit for many readers. It’s cute, steamy, and has some familiar vibes. It also seems to set us up for potential romances between other characters in the future.
For me, I didn’t read the synopsis just before picking the book up and totally recognized both the Ted Lasso and HTLAGI10D references instantly because it was almost too much like those. I didn’t feel connected to the real characters because I could see the similar scenes and moments from those two stories instead. I haven’t been feeling a lot of contemporary romances lately (which is a bummer since I’m finally getting approved for Berkley titles!) so maybe it’s just me, so don’t let my review stop you from picking this up. It was a fun romcom.

I’ve gone back and fourth on how I felt about this one between 4 or 5 stars and I went ahead and rounded up. This was like the soccer version of how to lose a guy in 10 days of my dreams - anyone close to me knows I love soccer so as far as sports romances go I was IN from jump. I found out about this book a few months ago and was so excited to be able to read the arc (shoutout to NetGalley, Berkley, and Brittany Kelley for the opportunity to have an ARC) I felt like the banter, the shenanigans, the grumpy/sunshine, and the romance was all perfect tbh. The timeline of the plot flowed nicely, nothing felt over the top, and I loved the representation of someone who lives with ADHD - I felt like it was portrayed realistically and I’m excited to see if my friends who live with it feel the same. (I’m so for the rep of all types we are seeing in books lately) if you are into sports romance definitly grab this one and I look forward to reading more Brittany Kelley books after having a taste.

This book fell a little flat for me. If you are a fan of Ted Lasso and insta lust then this will be the book for you. I am a huge sports romance fan so I was excited to read this. Unfortunately I couldn’t connect with either character. The main female was a bit too unhinged and cringy for my liking and the main male was honestly just too mean (and not in a grumpy way). There’s definitely people out there who will love this but unfortunately it was not me.

I thought this book was an average romance, perhaps above average for fans of a certain soccer based Appke TV show, as one if the leads was definitely based off a character in the series. Lots of funny moments. Recommend for libraries with a lot of romance readers.

This book was pure rom-com chaos. It was hilarious, a teeny bit cringe, and heartfelt.

Abigail is a delightfully, bold, unhinged lead but her attempts to get Luke to break up with her are a bit over-the-top. Luke is a tougher sell. His emotionally stunted guilt loop felt repetitive, and the slow rollout of the big misunderstanding means we don’t get much depth or growth from him until late in the game.

The banter is solid, the celebrity world feels real, and the ADHD rep for Abigail is done with care.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc!

This book is completely hilarious.

Abigail is researching her new role in a movie by spending time with a soccer team. Hot soccer (football) player Luke Wolf asks her out - with encouragement from management - and the drama begins.

Abigail is perky and says whatever she thinks which is honestly amazing. The Pilates instructor is my worst nightmare. The kitten is the cutest. No one should ever dress up as Gollum.

I knew this third act break up was going to hurt, and it did, but it went a way that I wasn't expecting, which was kind of refreshing.

The last third was a bit rushed, but I’m really glad I read this book!

If you like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, you'll probably like this. I do like that movie, so reading this was a fun time.

The humor really hit for me. When Abigail finds out that the relationship with Luke is fake, she decides to make his life hell. The ridiculous things that Abigail would do to get Luke to break up with her was hilarious. I was dying laughing in some parts.

Abigail and Luke are total opposites which created a fun dynamic. The banter was top notch and their chemistry was well written. I did feel Abigail was the more likable character out of the two. I also liked the ADHD representation with Abigail.

I found this book to be funny, fast-paced good celebrity romance romcom. If you enjoy fake dating and celebrity romances, give this romcom a try.

i unfortunately really struggled reading this book. i was really excited about this, but really couldn’t get past how mean the mmc was. this wasn’t like oh he’s grumpy… but not towards me. no, this man is evil. i couldn’t stand him. this also just felt really boring and way too long. i just found myself really not caring about these characters or what happened to them at all. i feel like this was trying way too hard to be funny, playfully being mean, banter, but it didn’t translate that way.

Thank you NetGalley for this awesome read!!!!! Relationship Goals, by Brittany Kelley was the laugh out loud rom com that I needed! The premise is an actress being set up with a professional soccer player. She thinks it is love at first sight. He falls hard, but did he have the right intentions from the start? Our leading lady is hilariously funny and says what she is thinking, all the time!!!!! Our leading man is grumpier than grumpy, until he meets the love of his life. This romantic comedy will have you swooning and laughing at the same time, hoping that this couple will make it to the end GOAL!!!!

This one is not for everyone but it is certainly for me. It's such a fast burn but it was so believable. If they would have said I love you after four days I would have believed them. They are so cute together and bring out a different side that isn't often seen. I just love them so much and seeing her try to push him away was so funny.

I received an arc through netgalley.

2.5 stars - This was unfortunately a bit of a let down. I loved the concept, but the execution for me didn't quite work. The book was billed as Ted Lasso meets How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days, but there were too many direct correlations for me instead of it feeling like it's own unique thing. I felt like both characters leaned into some cliches a bit too much and the insta-lust/love didn't work for me. I also didn't like how long the deception between the characters lasted, it made me more bummed out than anything and the pranks that followed were a bit childish.

The fact that this was a quick read was nice, but in general this wasn't one that I connected with. As always, thank you to Berkley Romance for the eARC - all opinions are my own!

Abigail Hunt is an actress looking to redeem her reputation after a comment was made in an interview that was taken out of context. Her next role brings her to the soccer team of LA Aces.
LA Aces star Luke Wolfe is the grumpy badass of the team, who is looking to move back home to be with his sick mother. When the Aces owners tell him to ask Abigail out for the publicity, he goes along with it but they both actually start falling for each other.

On the one hand - the typical miscommunication "should I tell them/should I not" isn't my favorite. It seems played out and unnecessary - the entire conflict can be solved with one conversation. And to have these two awesome characters go through so much drama for the sake of the plot just doesn't feel great.
On the other hand - this was so freaking funny. I also absolutely LOVED the ADHD and anxiety representation. It felt really authentic and raw without being pandering or feeling gimmicky.

Overall, a solid 4 star read!

⚽️ My review for Relationship Goals I absolutely enjoyed this book; it was a fun read!

✨Abagail is an actress who took a part in a real-life movie adaptation of a soccer scandal. While there she meets a grumpy soccer star, Luke Wolfe. She is drawn to him despite his gruff demeanor, convinced that there is a soft gooey center she makes if her mission to make his smile.

✨Luke Wolfe is not looking for love but when his path crosses with a famous actress, he is asked to make her feel welcome by any means necessary. It all backfires when he realizes he is quietly falling for her.

✨The representation of ADHD and panic attacks was done well. If you want a light romance and enjoyed Ted Lasso & Lord of the Rings, this book is for you!

I wanted to like this book so much but for me personally it felt a little flat. I don’t know if it was the plot or the characters but something wasn’t clicking for me. I usually love a good sports romance and I sadly did not enjoy this book as much as I was hoping too. Was it horrible? No. I would still recommend it to my friends but it just wasn’t working for me personally. (I’m also a mood reader so it could’ve been that.)

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I was so excited solely from the cover and the blurb. Even though I didn’t love this book I did enjoy the writing style the author used and can appreciate the authors work while not loving the story. I am looking forward to this authors future work and I’m hoping I find a book I really like because the writing was great!

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

In Relationship Goals, Abigail, a Hollywood actress aiming to transition from TV sidekick to dramatic lead, is tasked with shadowing a pro soccer team to prepare for her breakout role. Unknowingly, she's drawn into a fake relationship with star player Luke, who is coerced into dating her to boost the team's ticket sales. As their public romance ignites social media, Abigail discovers Luke's true intentions and decides to get even, leading to a series of over-the-top antics that blur the line between real and fake feelings

The chemistry between Luke and Abigail is palpable, and their banter provides truly laugh-out-loud moments. Abigail has an unfiltered personality, influenced by her ADHD, which adds a unique layer to the story.

The book's pacing was slow and drawn out, with certain scenes lingering longer than necessary. The reliance on miscommunication as a central plot device was frustrating. I was looking for these two characters to talk to each other.

This was an enjoyable read, and those who like sports romance, with an added fame aspect, may work. Thank you to Netgalley and Berkley for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

3.75 ⭐

This story follows the FMC Abigail and MMC Logan. Abigail is an actress who just got a part as a woman in the world of soccer. Abigail deals with her anxieties around relationships and her self. Logan is a soccer player who's gruff and makes everyone think he's a jerk, even though he's really just a cinnamon roll.

The FMC was a little too ditzy for me. I didn't connect with her silly/weirdness.

I liked the plot of the book in general. The MC's were cute together and brought out the best of them both. the side characters were cute and added to the story. I need a friend like Michelle. I would love to read the story between Michelle and Tristan.

The miscommunication was strong and both MC's could've been spared heartache if they had just communicated how they felt instead of hiding.

Relationship Goals was a standout, humorous take on the classic fake dating/ revenge plot we know from 2000s romcoms. Luke and Abigail clearly cared for each other despite the origins of their relationship and I really appreciated that.

What I loved about this book is the banter and how both were completely polar opposites but they work for each other and don’t make each other feel bad about their personalities. Also the reading was very enjoyable (was the first of my many arcs where I read a lot the first day I read it). However if there was a prolong and the characters had a longer relationship than i would’ve given this a higher rating. Also wished the characters actually talked instead of pushing it aside. Would still recommend if that is your taste in reading.
