I absolutely enjoyed the story arc. It was a great way for me to immerse myself into that world and enjoy everything happening around me.

I really enjoyed this fast-paced thriller with a strong female lead. It’s about a crime reporter, Mari Alvarez, who gets pulled into a twisted mystery involving deepfake tech, a creepy serial killer, and a massive festival in Florida.
What I loved? The mix of real-life danger and the digital threats we’re all kind of scared of now. It’s intense, it’s smart, and the main character is super relatable—brave but real.
This book had me questioning what’s real and what’s fake the whole time. Total page-turner. Thank you so much for this arc.

I did not finish this. I made it to 66% before giving up. The story was just not interesting to me.

I just really enjoyed this story and I just didn’t want it to end. I just lost myself in and I just couldn’t get enough of these interesting characters. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.

Buckled up for this thriller of a read! It's fast paced with angsty suspense throughout and I was flipping page after page. I loved the romance mixed in throughout and it added the perfect balance.

This is a really good, fast-paced, action-packed suspense with some very intriguing twists and turns, as well as romantic elements sprinkled in. Although it can be read as a standalone title, it’s best enjoyed after the first two books with Mari as the main character.

I enjoyed the fast-paced nature of this book very much. Overall, this was enjoyable. I liked the main characters and the suspense was done very well. The author was able to create an intangible feeling of being on edge and waiting for the other shoe to drop.
I think the balance of mystery/suspense and romance was perfect! The romance didn't overshadow the mystery plot, nor did it feel out of place as they sometimes can. I'll definitely be on the lookout for future books by this author.

Ohhhh great read, edge of the seat suspense. When a reporter is tormented by a criminal thought long dead, it’s up to her and her friends to end the reign of terror. Those friends include two sexy cops.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you for allowing me to review

Thank you @thrillerbookloversthepulse for the #gifted book.
This book was a crazy, edge of my seat, thrilling ride through the tunnels of Tampa! Holy cow, it definitely had me thinking about all the ways AI can seriously screw up someone’s life!! This was my first book by this author and I can’t wait for the next!

A fast-paced psychological thriller that ties in the Tampa Bay Gasparilla pirate festival, rooting this unthinkable thriller in reality. I haven’t previously read a thriller involving a tv reporter and I really liked the backstory of how Mari ended up entangled in this terrifying thrill ride.

First off, I want to preface that although it’s not necessary, I really do encourage you to read the first 2 books in the series to better get an idea of the characters and understand the development.
Now for the review—I have to be careful how I word this as I don’t want to spoil any of the other books. We’re back into the action with Mari, a news reporter who seems to get more than just a little too close to the action. In this quick-read we follow Mari as she works alongside her crush, FBI Agent Tony, and the ever-so-flirty agent Matt, who specializes in technology and AI. Mari’s being haunted by her past again, but this time she’s in real jeopardy as whoever is causing all this trouble for her, her loved ones and community knows how to work AI to their advantage. Creating fake scenes to fit Mari as a prime suspect at the scene of each crime is this criminal’s speciality, and they’re so good, even the people in Mari’s life question if she’s telling the truth or not. If you’re looking for a light and easy crime read, give this series a go. The character’s are likable, diverse and the plot changes enough to keep things interesting.
Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC to read and review.

Just when crime reporter, Mari Alvarez, thought she could move on with her life, a killer that she thought was dead contacts her and lures her into a dangerous game…One that threatens the lives of the people she cares most about. Mari must play the game and follow his rules or she risks losing them all. Mari knows that he, who calls himself The Phantom Pirate, will stop at nothing to get his revenge and she quickly becomes the target of his manipulation and deceit. With everyone watching and her own job at stake, can Mari stop him before it’s too late?
This book is full of action from start to finish! The use of AI as a tool of deception really made me think about how easily it is to fake just about anything these days! The book was fast paced and suspenseful. I also enjoyed added little love triangle and the dynamics between Mari, her undefined love interest, Tony Garcia, and Matt, the handsome Special Agent she is working with on this case. Although her heart seemed to be with Tony, I loved the filtration between Matt and Mari! Although there are two books in the series before this one, I read this as a standalone. I still enjoyed it, but there were definitely references to things that happened in the other books. If you’re a thriller lover who loves cat and mouse pursuits,

This book was so fun!! It had my attention right from the first chapter and just kept going. Cat and mouse game with twist and turns. Definitely recommend!

If you’re a fan of police procedurals/investigations with epic villains and intriguing setting, you’ll want to check out Linda Hurtado Bond’s latest All the Captives Girls! This one reads like an action movie! 😱
This book is set in Tampa and though I’m yet to visit Tampa specifically, I had strong flashbacks to eating delicious Cuban food in other parts of Florida. I loved that Mari’s (main character) Cuban culture played such important part in the story.
Grab this if you enjoy:
🎭 games of cat & mouse
🎭 AI theme in thrillers
🎭 journalists as main characters
🎭 vivid descriptions of yummy food

🎭 Elements of romance
🎭 masquerades

If you’re anything like me (or my ADHD brain), you’ll want to read the first two books in the series first! A lot of relationship and character building that ties into book number 3 (this one)!

This is a suspense thriller that is full throttle from the first chapter. It incorporated a lot of the newest artificial intelligence expertise and cyber policing tactics.
Mari is a reporter in Tampa being targeted by a serial killer who is supposed to be dead in a revengeful game involving deepfakes and misinformation on social media. She is being goaded into dangerous situations in order to prevent the killing of loved ones and mass destruction being threatened by Hanks. She teams up with law enforcement, and her love interest Tony, to try to draw him out before he can further terrorize the city and ruin her reputation even more than he already has.
This was a nonstop action crime thriller that will keep you guessing as to what is fully happening and who is behind everything. I felt like I was asking more questions and being turned around in circles than getting answers. There are a lot of allusions to the previous two books involving Mari Alvarez and her adventures, but this can still be read as a stand-alone.

A faced paced thriller that draws you in from the lead in page. Although this is part of a series, it worked well as a stand alone and makes me want to go back and read the previous book.

Lovely read with a lot of twists and turns and lovely characters that will last to be written about multiple times more. The writing suits this book very well and it feels fast-paced but not stressful.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for thos eARC in exchange for my honest opinion. All words are my own.

Another great book from Linda Hurtado Bond. This was action-packed. The kind where you find yourself reading faster and faster. Great mystery and characters. Looking forward to more books from this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC | Entangled: Amara for providing an eARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

I like when books dive right into the plot and this one did just that. It was decently paced, didn't leave me wondering when we're going to get there and even had a little romance to boot.
I think this was a second in a series, so I'll have to go back and read the first, but I'll Def be doing that.

This book had me holding my breath with every chapter!
Crime reporter Mari thought she was putting the past behind her, but when a presumed dead killer resurfaces, she becomes the center of his twisted game.
I love a thriller that keeps the twists and turns coming, and this one delivered nonstop surprises! Just when I thought I had it figured out, something else would happen. The action never let up, making it impossible to put down!
As someone from Tampa, reading a thriller set against the backdrop of Gasparilla made it even more exciting!!
If you love fast paced thrillers packed with action, suspense, and shocking twists, this one is a must read.
Thank you Entangled and NetGalley for the ARC.
