The Fall Risk does a fantastic job of delivering a satisfying romance in a short story. I loved the humor and main/side characters. I didn't love how the conflict was viewed as "over" at the ending, but it's fictional short story so I'll get over it.

I received an ARC from Amazon Original Stories via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked this, although it did fall a bit flat when compared to her other work. I loved the characters but that bit about the cousins/his ex wife was a little odd, kinda like it was a last minute addition. I really liked the plot though and how the MMC helped the FMC grow comfortable enough to stand up to her stalker, and I liked the fact that there was nice chemistry between the characters (albeit a bit rushed though cause it's a short story)

Quick and easy read. The author does a great job of giving the readers a sense of how the love story between Charlotte and Seth begins in this novella. The side-characters were great too!
Recommended for a quick read.

Thank you to the publisher for the ARC via Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Abby Jimenez can not do anything wrong! This is a perfect short story with funny dialogue, cute main characters, and hilarious side characters. And as always, Jimenez mixes her rom-com with serious topics (in this case stalking). This is done flawlessly and gives the story more depth and feels realistic and modern. Totally recommend if you're a fan and/or want a short story in between some heavier reads.

The orange peel theory!!! 🍊🧡

I got this cute short story through #netgalley (thank you!!!) and finished it straight away 💕

I listened and read along on audio and Julia Whelan did it again. Abby Jimenez is an auto-buy author for me. Seth is a sweetheart, he has his roots firmly planted and I devoured this story.

Thank you NetGalley and Abby Jimenez for the ARC of The Fall Risk.

I loved this novella so much! It was so cute and funny and everything I look for in a romcom. I think my favorite part was the fish Swim Shady!!

Abby is the queen of romcom. Although, I love her full length novels more than the short stories, this one was a gem. The short stories just leave me wanting more because I fall in love with the characters. I loved that this short story had some depth to it and had some difficult topics. Her characters are quirky and fun. I can’t wait for the next one!

Such a cute short story. Seth and Charlotte are neighbors on the 2nd floor of their apartment building. One morning, they both wake up to the stairs missing. This is how they meet..the landlord confirming that the work team removed the wrong steps and now it would be several days before a team could get back out there. So Seth and Charlotte both agree to stay put for several days. Their friends, Izzy and Gabe, help out by bringing them things, via a pulley system. With only each other to interact with, they spend each day together. But Charlotte has an issue she has been dealing with for years and it’s imprisoned her. Now, as much as she wants to like Seth, she doesn’t want to drag him into her drama. But Seth is determined to prove to her, he is there to stay.

Aww..such a sweet story. Seth is so sweet doing small things to make Charlotte comfortable, and giving them some much needed entertainment. Fun, short read, sweet, entertaining read.

Abby Jimenez delivers again! This is such a fun, cute, unique story. Though it surprised me a bit with how violent the story was, it felt quick and relatable and sweet. This was excellent as a short read between heavier books, and I will always sign up for more Abby!

Gorgeous little read. This author never fails to disappoint, and even with such a short book she still managed to con jour up a romantic and exciting situation that leaves you wanting more. Would recommend (although prefer the full side books as these are never enough!)

I LOVED IT. Part of me wanted a longer story but the characters had been through enough. The mmc was so sweet and I was so proud of the fmc because she was so strong.

This novella was pure gold. I would read Abby Jiminez’s grocery list. So witty and cute! I need more of this feminine rage!!!

Super cute short story romance. Perfect for Valentine's Day or any other day. I love Abby's story telling and would happily have read a full length book about these characters.

A sweet romcom in short story/novella format, I think the dark subject matter could be disturbing for some but appreciated the content warning at the beginning. When I’m in the mood for a cute romance, a lot of the time they can feel stretched out with filler, I actually really liked the length of this one! Great writing, swoony characters, and quirky friends; it checked all the boxes.

As usual, extraordinary! Abby Jimenez is a pro in writing rom-coms with characters that feel like real people. The way she is able to make us connect with Charlotte and her - sadly - very real problem is nothing short of amazing! Especially in a short story! I loved everything about The Fall Risk! Absolutely a favourite!!!

I am a sucker for a good Abby Jimenez book! I read a lot of thrillers so this is a nice palate cleanser for me. Super fast, easy and fun read! It wasn’t my favorite of hers but I loved it none the less.

A sweet novella with an unusual plot! Like in Abby’s other books, the characters here are really charming. I laughed at many moments. I liked that, even though this is a short and light read, it still touched on such a serious topic as stalking.

In my opinion, this is a completely finished story—I got everything I needed and wouldn’t even want it to be a full-length book.

𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬:
✓ short story
✓ neighbors to lovers
✓ forced proximity
✓ golden retriever MMC
✓ only kisses

For all the women who choose the bear and all the men who do the work to understand why. May the forest be a little less scary one day.

TW: This story is about a woman who is being stalked by a mentally ill stranger. There are mentions of suicide, kissing cousins, and discussions about firearms for self-defense.

Today, March 1st, 2025, I read my first Abby Jimenez book. I have noticed this author is trendy all over my social media. A short story is a good way to begin a relationship with an author.

When a construction crew removes the wrong stairwell, Seth and Charlotte find themselves unable to leave their apartment building. But each of them is encouraged by their BFF to get to know their neighbor. Seth is newly divorced. Charlotte is hiding from a stalker. Yet neither can deny that they could see them falling head over heels with the other.

I liked the characterization. I liked the banter and easy conversation between Seth and Charlotte. My favorite short stories are the ones where I get so immersed in the plot that I forget it will end soon. The Fall Risk was one of those perfect reads. As you will notice with the trigger warning, we have some serious topics and yet I still smiled and chuckled during those funny moments. Also, when it came time for the final confrontation between Charlotte and her stalker, I appreciated that Abby Jimemez doesn't have the male protagonist swoop in to save the day. Yay!

If you like forced proximity rom-coms and short reads to meet those reading goals, then check out this book for certain.

Would I read a full-length novel by this author? Yes, if the opportunity arises, I will certainly check her out.

This was a fun and quick little novela. I loved Charlotte taking down her stalker at the end and her cute relationship with Seth, but I was almost more interested in Charlotte and Seth’s best friends relationship; Izzy and Gabe
