This was a quick read but it packed a punch. Abby Jimenez never fails to deliver a story that has an emotional edge wrapped into it. With The Fall Risk, we meet Charlotte and Seth who are accidentally "stranded" together for Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, neither of them is feeling romantic - - Seth's divorce has just been finalized and Charlotte has her own negative history with men. Yet, the more time they spend together, the more it appears they may enjoy one another's company. Charlotte finds herself feeling safe with Seth which is not typical for her and Seth finds himself wanting to do for Charlotte.

This story wraps up quickly but I still thought about these two characters for a bit after I finished the book - - which is a strong indicator of how much the story meant to me.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this one early.

What a delightful short story! In just a short time I became attached to two characters who had so much depth and character. I could not stop reading and loved the premise of being stuck in an apartment with no stairs and only a (handsome!) neighbor for company. Definitely will be looking for more books by Abby Jimenez!

Another cute amazon short story by Abby Jimenez. She revisits the apartment building and characters from her Valentine’s short story last year, Worst Wingman Ever. Though the timeline of this book is short, it didn’t feel like insta-love, but people who built something due to circumstances. The problem with short stories by good authors, is I am always intrigued to see the characters in a longer form book, and this is no exception. The ending was too pat/quick, and more could’ve been done. But a cute, quick, novella, Jimenez is always worth the read. 4 stars. Thanks to Net Galley and Amazon Original Stories for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

One of the best, if not the best, novella I’ve read.

The banter between Charlotte and Seth kept the story light and engaging. The humor had me literally laughing out loud. Seth was so understanding of the boundaries set by Charlotte. I respected him for not testing them or trying to change her. He just encouraged her growth.
One of my favorite moments is how they transformed their landing into a relaxation patio. I felt it was a very inventive way to have the characters bond and it also added some warmth to their romance.

I definitely want more novellas in this world. Or a full length novel series. I'm not picky.

*The Fall Risk* by Abby Jimenez is a heartwarming, charming short story that blends humor, romance, and emotional depth. Set during a Valentine’s Day weekend, the story revolves around Charlotte and Seth, two neighbors who are unexpectedly isolated due to a mishap involving construction. Charlotte, a woman who carries emotional scars from a past stalker, and Seth, a recently divorced arborist, find themselves dealing with their individual traumas while navigating their developing connection.

The story is praised for its delightful characters and witty dialogue. Despite the short length, Jimenez skillfully develops their relationship, making them both endearing and relatable. Charlotte’s vulnerability and Seth’s struggle with trust issues create a genuine emotional connection that keeps readers engaged.

The story’s blend of humor and real-life struggles is one of its standout features. It addresses themes such as overcoming fear, learning to trust again, and the importance of emotional healing. While some readers feel the shorter format limits deeper character development, the book still provides a satisfying and sweet experience.

Overall, *The Fall Risk* is a delightful read that showcases Jimenez's talent for writing emotional and heartwarming romances, even in a short format.

This was a cute romance - not too sloppy, and absolutely relatable. Opinions are divided on whether this story would worth a longer novel or works perfectly as it is, a novella. I am for team novella here. When you are in need of an instant mood booster, you can read this in one sitting.

Abby Jimenez can do no wrong. Her MMCs are literally the BEST 😭🥲 I wish I had an entire 1000 page novel about this couple because I loved them so much. However, this short story was perfect and I loved the two love stories woven into a story about a woman embracing her strength. Absolute perfection. Thank you Abby Jimenez, Amazon Original Stories, and NetGalley for the ARC!

This was a cute novella. Loved how Seth and Charlotte made the best of the weekend. Loved Izzy and her protectiveness. The old ladies were a hoot. The star of the show was Seth. Such a sweet cinnamon roll hero. Loved how unique this story was. Never imagined a story where the stairs had been taken down by mistake.

Oh, so The Fall Risk by Abby Jimenez just waltzed into my life, wrecked my emotions, and then LEFT because it’s only a novella?! EXCUSE ME, ABBY?? 🚨 Who approved this decision?? I need at least 300 more pages, a sequel, a spin-off, and a formal apology for the emotional damage.

This was my first Abby Jimenez book, and let me tell you—I was NOT ready. She tricked me. She lured me in with the promise of a cute, witty romance, and then BAM 💥—out of nowhere, I’m sobbing into my snacks, wondering how a novella managed to ruin me so thoroughly. The whiplash?? One second, I’m cackling like an unhinged raccoon, and the next, my soul is leaking from my eyes. 😭

And the romance??? SO. GOOD. 💖 The chemistry was straight-up illegal. The banter? Top-tier. The tension? Dragged me through the emotional trenches and left me for dead. I was out here giggling, kicking my feet, and then suddenly contemplating my entire existence. How did she manage to pack this much swoon, angst, and perfection into so few pages?? I feel scammed, honestly.

Final verdict: this book is like tripping over your own feet and falling straight into the best love story—equal parts painful and delightful. Read it immediately, but also prepare for heartbreak because it’s not long enough. 😤📢 Abby, you owe me more.

thank you to netgalley for the e-arc. i found this strange but only because less than 100 pages is never enough to tell a good story, let alone an abby jimenez story. it was a cute lil romcom i would have liked to see turn into a whole book but jimenez managed to get a lot of feelings and plot out of the 80something pages.

Thank you to Abby Jimenez, Amazon Original Stories and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Well safe to say this book broke my book slump! **praise hands!!** Abby Jimenez has a way of taking serious topics and somehow turning them into the most wonderful love stories without being too over the top or cheesy. There were a few parts where I was actually laughing out loud because the banter was so perfect! I adored this short story and so desperately wished it was a full length novel!

This will be my go-to recomendation for the year when someone needs a great quick read to get them out of a slump!

Fall Risk is Abby Jimenez’s latest release. It is a super quick read as it is a novella and it was super sweet. It was quite heavy at points, with the main point of contention being a stalker that caused a lot of anxiety and trauma for our main character, Charlotte.
Charlotte and Seth and thrown together when construction workers remove the stairs in their apartment building, leaving them stranded for a few days. Seth was an interesting character. As an arborist with a personal interest in botany, Seth was a really down to earth person. On the day of his divorce from his cheating ex-wife, Seth and Charlotte meet during the stairs debacle. Charlotte is clearly terrified and anxious. She opens the door hesitantly holding bear spray and is completely opposed to staying in a hotel while the stairs are replaced. We come to find out that Charlotte has been stalked extensively for the past few years and she has only recently moved into the building after her stalker discovered her location once again. Her P.I best friend Izzy is trying her hardest to track this man down so Charlotte can have her life back but in the meantime, Charlotte has to rely on her self-defence training and personal firearm preparation. Seth is totally sympathetic when he discovers the reason behind her fear. He accommodates her concerns and the pair hit it off immediately.
The story was great. The pace felt appropriate but at times it felt like a lot of intense plot for such a short book. I am yet to find a book by Abby that I truly dislike. This wasn’t my favourite of hers, but it was a great read nonetheless. I am really excited to read her next release – Say You’ll Remember Me which comes out on April 1st.
Thank you for the eARC!

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review--thank you to the publishers!

Seth and his new neighbor, Charlotte, find themselves in forced proximity when the stairs to their building are accidentally demolished and they are trapped in their apartments over Valentine's Day weekend. Seth is newly divorced and Charlotte has been the victim of stalking for two years. Will they be able to put their trauma behind them and learn to trust again?

This novella was so incredibly sweet despite discussing serious topics, and it also made me laugh more in 82 pages than most full-length novels could.

Some other things I loved:
*Charlotte's best friend Izzy and Seth's best friend Gabe also meet and fall for each other because of this situation and despite being an unlikely pair they're so cute together. They're also really supportive of Charlotte and Seth.
*Charlotte and Seth truly complement each other. For example, because of recent experiences Charlotte feels very vulnerable and scared, and Seth is so respectful of her boundaries without her having to vocalize her need for caution. Also, Seth is an arborist and loves to talk about trees and most people find it boring but Charlotte genuinely enjoys listening to him.

This is a sweet, hilarious, fast read and I would highly recommend it!

This was a super cute, short novella (which I didn't originally realize was a novella... just saw Abby Jiminez and was like, YES PLEASE).

It's a bit hard to review novellas because, by their nature, they don't have a lot of content, nor space to build up characters or settings or anything of that nature. However, I will say, this one accomplished exactly what it set out to do - give the reader a fun, quirky, playfully unrealistic story that didn't take long to finish. I will say, with some tweaking, this had the potential to be a good full story; if Jiminez gave back the stairs, and built the characters and back story, I'd certainly sign up to read the long form of this one day!

Overall, no complaints from me.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review this!

This was such a fun short story. I could’ve read a full length book about Charlotte and Seth (and Izzy and Gabe) because I loved them.

Abby Jimenez did a great job of making you feel like this wasn’t as short as it was. We get insights into the backgrounds of both characters, we watch their relationship grow, and we even get an epilogue of what happens 6 months down the line. I wasn’t left wishing that this was longer because I felt that the story needed to be longer, instead I wished it was longer because I was truly enjoying it so much.

Thank you so much to Abby Jimenez, Amazon Original Stories, and NetGalley for the eARC.

Never did I expect a novella to make me love trees, but Abby Jimenez can do anything! This was short, sweet and unexpectedly badass. I absolutely loved it and would read this in any form! Jimenez creates such strong and fleshed out characters you can't help but want books for every single one of them - including the bus of elderly women!

Thank you, NetGalley for an advanced ARC of this book for an honest review

After reading one of the author's book Last year I enjoyed her writing and the stories that came across in her books because she has really good character growth.

This is a short story about a woman who is being stalked and not able to live a life because she is always running, then we have a guy who got cheated on by his ex-wife... I highly enjoyed reading this and could not put it down, there were some things in this book though that I related to in them talking to each other about things about each g other.

Abby Jimenez can only write amazing stories, I swear. This was a perfect short story- it had the depth and emotions and character growth of a full novel packed into 82 short pages. Charlotte and Seth are so cute, and Seth is an instant 10/10 from the get go. Worth a quick read to feel the feels!

Thanks to NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for an advanced copy!
