I was hooked from the cover and first page during this book, it had that element that I was looking for and was glad it was so well done. I was engaged with what was happening with the characters and was everything that I wanted in this type of thriller novel. Kerry Wilkinson has a strong writing style and had that concept that I was looking for.

Loved the book - another excellent book from Kerry Wilkinson. A mother has to come to terms with what happened to her at university when her son is suspected of murder.

Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture and Kerry Wilkinson for the eArc of My Son's Girlfriend.
I've read a few of Kerry's books now and I always really enjoy both her structure and writing style. Her characters are usually well built and felt real and this book is no exception. Our MC, Jennifer gets a mysterious call from her son which sets her on a path of mystery and twists as she tries to find out what's happened with her son. He was one of the last people to see his girlfriend and she's now dead.
Both the plot line and the pacing of this book is constant and engaging. Letting new information unfold as we travel further into the narrative. As the mystery unfolds, we are exposed to some twists and turns which are executed really well. Being a Mum, I could relate to how Jennifer felt, wondering if her Son is a murderer and what complex emotions that would come from that. Made the book very immersive for me and binge read it within a day! The finale was great .
4 stars

I have read lots of books by Kerry Wilkinson and loved them all and My Son's Girlfriend is no exception. It was fast paced and packed full of twists and turns, none of which I saw coming and it had a really great ending that tied everything off superbly.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

The premise had me hooked: a late-night call from your son saying, “It wasn’t me,” and then finding out his girlfriend is dead? That’s the kind of opener that makes you drop everything.
The story follows Jennifer, a mother desperate to find her son and figure out what really happened — and as she digs deeper, secrets from her own past start resurfacing. I liked the dual timelines and how it kept me guessing, but some of the twists felt a bit too neat or rushed. I also found it hard to really connect with a few of the characters, especially Dan and Ella.
Still, it’s an intriguing read about trust, memory, and how well we really know the people we love. Not my favorite thriller of the year, but definitely one that kept me turning pages.

This was a great book! I was hooked from the very first page and I didn’t see the last twist coming! The main character was relatable and I really liked her. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC copy! Can’t wait to read more from this author!

I enjoyed this book and was gripped right from the start. I didn’t see the ending coming - it tied everything together nicely!

When Jennifer’s son Daniel calls saying “I didn’t do it” right before police officers show up at her door telling her that her son’s girlfriend, Ella, was murdered, she immediately takes off to find him.
Returning to her old college, memories of another girls murder surface especially when she learns Ella was murdered in the same way.
Following the clues left behind by her son, she’s determined to clear his name as police are determined to track him down.
As Jennifer seeks answers, she’s shocked to discover actions from her past have come back to haunt her.
I really enjoy Kerry Wilkinson’s story telling abilities having read several of his books. They quickly hook me, hold my attention, and never fail to smack me with an ending I didn’t expect! Wilkinson has an impressive catalogue of works that I definitely recommend checking out!
Thank you NetGalley, Kerry Wilkinson, and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this in exchange for a review. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

My Son's Girlfriend by Kerry Wilkinson is another quick and compelling read from the prolific author.
Jennifer receives a cryptic phone call from her son Dan, who says only that he is not to blame. More information comes to light when the police arrive at Jennifers home, confirming that Dan's girlfriend is dead, and that Dan is now missing and a person of interest. In an effort to clear her son's name, Jennifer must confront her own past, and the author steadily develops her character as she processes not only the challenge of the present, but also the ghosts of yesteryear.
This is a pacey whodunit that will keep you guessing until the very end.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this ARC
I usually love books by this author but for some reason I struggled with this one,not sure why. I may re-read it in the future to see if my opinion changes.

My Son's girlfriend by Kerry Wilkinson is a suspenseful story about a son accused of murdering his girlfriend. His mom believes he is innocent, but no one else seems to think the same.
So Daniel's mom goes to the town where her son was at college when this whole ordeal went down. She's been there before, years before. She also went to college there, and someone else had died. The story focus's on the mom trying to find her son while also getting memory flashes of the last time she was there.
I was interested in the premise of this story but found it to be a bit slow and dragged on. Moments caught my attention but I struggled to get through it.
Thank you Kerry Wilkinson for working with NetGalley. I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

I have only just discovered Kerry's books and I am loving them. This one was no different. It had me guessing and what a great ending. I love a past and present timeline so really this book ticked all the boxes for me.

This book was written very well, with concepts that kept me wondering what would happen next. There were some grammatical errors, but they weren't that big of a deal. I enjoyed that the ending of the book really answered all the questions through the book. I enjoyed how the characters lives intertwined. I also enjoyed the dual timelines.

The story revolves around Jennifer, a mother whose world is turned upside down when her son Dan’s girlfriend, Ella, is found dead, and Dan disappears. Wilkinson masterfully weaves together maternal love and past secrets and human greed. The worst nightmare for a parent involves receiving a frantic phone call from their kid in the middle of the night. Jennifer’s nightmare is worse since the call is cryptic and all her son says is ‘I didn’t do it’. As Jennifer tries to decipher the meaning of the call, police knocks on her door looking for her son and reveal that he is the prime suspect in his girlfriend’s murder. The reader is taken through the journey of Jennifer as she tries to process the meaning of the call and ends up at a place which she never wanted to visit to prove her son’s innocence.
Wilkinson’s character development is noteworthy, particularly in his portrayal of Jennifer. Her internal struggle between believing in her son’s innocence and confronting the possibility of his guilt is both heart-wrenching and relatable. The author delves deep into the psyche of a mother faced with an unthinkable situation, exploring the limits of parental love and loyalty. The novel’s twists and turns keep readers guessing until the very end, with a shocking conclusion that leaves a lasting impact.
This is a good read for lovers of thrillers.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from Netgalley. This was an engaging read. I was invested in the story throughout, although I did find it a bit slow at times, I was keen to see the story unfold. Wilkinson weaved past and present together well, and while I predicted the final twist, the execution of the resolution was well done.

My sons girlfriend was a very easy and compelling read.
One night a phone call from Jennifer’s sons changes her life forever. All he says is “It wasn’t me” and then a knock at the door. Police telling her that her sons girlfriend is dead. Her son is missing. Could her son really be a murderer?
This was such an interesting story. I really had no idea where things were going but I was hooked! Especially with the connection to Jennifer’s time at the same university her son was at. Small details really all rolled into such a huge story!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It kept my attention and flowed so easily! I really felt for how the main character was struggling with herself and how she couldn’t comprehend that her son may be involved. I cannot wait to read more by this author! Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the arc!

"it wasn't me" - these are the last words jennifer hears after receiving a late night call from her son before the line suddenly goes dead. when she tries to call him back, he's unreachable. soon after, the police arrive at her home with shocking news - dan's girlfriend, ella, has been murdered, and dan is their prime suspect and is on the run.
convinced that her son is incapable of such a horrific crime, jennifer sets out for his university city, determined to uncover the truth about his life, the events leading up to ella's death, and the real killer.
this was my first kerry wilkinson book, and I've got to say that it was an alright read. the storyline is filled with secrets, drama and tension. it's a fast paced and engaging book, even though it lacked suspense at times. i liked the writing style - straight to the point without too many unnecessary descriptions, which kept the story interesting enough. however, i found some twists predictable, and many parts of the story felt a bit far fetched.
as for the characters - the main protagonist is jennifer - dan's mom. she tries to find her son and make sure he's safe. of course, she instantly believes he's innocent and the book showcases the lengths a mother will go to in order to protect her child.
while i don't have children of my own, I could still understand her.
jennifer's unconditional love for dan adds emotional depth to the story.
some characters felt slightly undeveloped, and some of them seemed unnecessary and i often questioned their presence in the story.
overall, it was an engaging but not the most thrilling book. the ending was quite good, but not as impactful as I had hoped. i'd probably recommend it, though. i most likely will give the author another try:)
*thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author - Kerry Wilkinson for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*

A thriller which starts when Jennifer's son, who is at university, gets in touch to tell her that his girlfriend has been killed and he didn't do it. After a visit from the police, Jennifer rushes off to the town where her son lives, without much idea about what she is going to do there. She looks into people that he is involved with there, is interviewed by police and makes a discovery in her son's book locker. The pace is fairly quick, Jennifer's actions sometimes are a little too ill considered and the police investigation doesn't really follow a lofgical course. The book is told in two different timeperiods, when Jenn was at university in the town and the present day. Descriptions of places are atmospheric and well done, some of the characterizations need a little more depth (Daniel's father, among others)
On the whole I did enjoy the book, suspense is built up well and there are a couple of twists in the plot . In some ways the crimes are solved towards the end, but I have been left with a feeling that not all loose ends are sewn up which has left me feeling unsatisfied.
Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC

My Son's Girlfriend was a quick and easy read. At times I found myself looking to see how much more was left of the book as mom wandered around doing much of the same thing over and over. Overall, she was making decisions of a mother that I could understand someone making, even if I didn't think I would. The cast of characters and red herrings thrown in kept it interesting even after it was basically over.

As always with Kerry's books I found myself hooked right away and drawn into the danger, great read overall.
