As a librarian, I’ve encountered countless legal romances, but *Overruled* by Lana Ferguson delivers a verdict that’s impossible to appeal. This book will most likely change your entire life.

Danica Pierce and Ezra Hart, are two brilliant divorce lawyers, who happen to be sworn enemies in the courtroom, and also incredibly passionate in the sheets. Their dynamic ran with sharp banter, legal maneuvering, and so much emotional depth you wouldn’t see coming. I’ve read all of Fergusons books but by far she crafted a romance in this that’s not only steamy but layered with so much important topics of trust and vulnerability.

This is truly for anyone who ever loved the romance in the tv series ‘suits’. Filled with a touch of legal drama, and witty banter that’s to die for. This was an immediate 5 star read that needs to be picked up immediately.

I loved this book! Lana writes such witty banter and relatable characters that I was invested in the story from the first page. Danica is a fierce lawyer going up against her enemy, and current lover, in the case of her career. The chemistry between Danica and Ezra had me blushing at the spicy bits, and then cackling when they started arguing. The arguing usually happening before and after the aforementioned spicy bits. I love their dynamic and how much Ezra respected and wanted Dani from the beginning. This story was all the good feelings you could want!

Honestly, not my favorite. There's romantic tension, and there's just tension. The tension between Ezra and Dani honestly just made me feel bad most of the time. Dani read like an immature, toxic, cruel child most of the time, and Ezra was nothing to write home about until the third act. IMO, the story would have been improved if Dani's snark was cut back a solid 50-75%. That being said, it may have just not been my type of romance. Those who do not mind unlikeable characters may walk away happier than me.

The book was written well, and I appreciated the steam level. I'd love to see Nate and Vera's story fleshed out at some point!

Powerhouse of steamy romance is back with my favorite guilty pleasure—the ultimate trope romance authors love to gift us: enemies to lovers! This trope is my absolute kryptonite, impossible to resist, and this book delivers a couple so electric, you can’t help but be hooked.

Two fierce divorce lawyers who thrive on pushing each other's buttons—and occasionally ripping each other’s clothes off—make for the perfect fictional duo. Their banter is sharp, their chemistry is off the charts, and beneath all the tension, they both carry deep emotional wounds from their families, which may have shaped their career choices.

Danica is still navigating the chaos of her dysfunctional family, complete with her divorced parents' unconventional new relationships. She’s determined to land a coveted partnership at her firm, but to do so, she must win the biggest divorce case of her career—against none other than her ultimate nemesis, Ezra Hart, a man known for playing dirty to get what he wants.

Raising the stakes is one thing, but what Dani never expected was to find herself tangled up in a heated, no-strings-attached arrangement with the man she swore to despise. Ezra is infuriating, arrogant, and absolutely irresistible. But what if he’s not the heartless jerk she thought he was? What if she’s been blinded by her past heartbreak? As she gets to know the man beneath the ruthless lawyer, she begins to see him in a different light—one that might just threaten the walls she’s built.

How will she handle it when falling for her enemy becomes her biggest challenge yet—right in the middle of the case that could define her entire career?

I loved every second of this book! The banter, the tension, the sizzling romance—everything was chef’s kiss. Supporting characters Nate and Vera also stole the show with their witty and sexy exchanges (they totally deserve their own book!). But of course, Ezra and Dani’s dynamic was the heart of the story, delivering the perfect blend of steam, romance, and emotional depth.

Lana Ferguson never disappoints when it comes to balancing passion, sharp dialogue, and smartly written smut. A well-earned five stars from me!

A huge thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for providing me with yet another phenomenal romance in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you, Lana Ferguson! Ezra Hart is a swoon worthy hero. Dani Pierce is feisty in her brokenness yet her desire to be strong is admirable.
And the surprise twist!! I had it going a different way. Nice pivot!!!

Thanks to #NetGalley for the ARC.

The tension, banter, and slow-burn romance are irresistible! Danica thinks love is hopeless, while Ezra is determined to prove her wrong. The chemistry between them is electric, and the author perfectly balances steam with emotional depth. If you’re a fan of workplace or enemies-to-lovers stories,

I absolutely adored this book and the characters in it! Ezra is my favourite MMC of Lana’s books, he was just a fun character all around even with his tragic backstory. It took me a bit longer to love Dani but I go there. My favourite part of the book was the bickering though, it was always funny and made me chuckle. I loved this book. Thank you NetGalley and Berkley for the Arc, Lana’s books have been a go to read since I discovered the author!

Huge thank you to whoever at Berkley approved my request just in time for Valentine's day because it was such a perfect little treat to read in one sitting! Every time Lana Ferguson announces a new book, I'm always so excited to see what she pulls out of her arsenal and this one was so good. I feel like these were her most fleshed out characters to date - they still had that Lana Ferguson charm and banter, but also had pasts that affected them in present day and the way that they interact with each other.

Dani was a very independent FMC. She has commitment issues because of a past relationship that left her burned, as well as the disillusion of her parents marriage. Ezra was a very fun and flirty MMC, but has a lot of trauma he hides with his jokes and lighthearted and at ease nature. He has a lot of familial trauma that really make you feel for him. Trigger Warning for suicide attempts discussions. These two characters really suited one another. Their banter is very much Ezra teasing Dani and riling her up and Dani plays right into his hands. I think this one quote kind of perfectly sums them up - “I really fucking hate you, Ezra.” It really does have to be some sort of psychosis, the way that makes me smile. “I know, Dani.” like their interactions just had me giggling and kicking my feet. There was also, like I mentioned, a lot of serious topics discussed so it really added depth to their characters and made their actions make a lot more sense.

The plot was also very prevalent alongside the romance. The case was really intriguing and kinda kept me on my toes. I gasped out loud at two moments in particular and it had me hooked. Like I've always said, I commend Lana Ferguson for always doing something different with each release she comes out with because it keeps it all very fresh and I loved this law backdrop for this book. If you squint, you can pretend this is an episode of Suits!

There was also a 2 chapter teaser at the end of this book for The Mating Game (sequel to The Fake Mate) which had me jumping up and down because I've read all of Lana Ferguson's works and The Fake Mate has remained my favourite and I've been waiting for this sequel since December of 2023. Catch me in the bookstore on release day, which I've heard is slated for December 2025.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This novel delivers a tender and emotional love story that lingers in your heart long after you’ve turned the last page. The characters are crafted with incredible depth, each carrying their own burdens, dreams, and vulnerabilities that make their journey toward love all the more compelling.

Overruled by Lana Ferguson is such a fun, spicy read! Danica and Ezra are top tier divorce lawyers who battle it out in court by day and share a bed by night. Cue the tension, banter, and major slow burn vibes! Danica swears love is a lost cause, while Ezra is out here trying to prove her wrong. Their chemistry is electric! The author nails the balance between steam and emotional depth, making this book both spicy and heartfelt. If you love workplace/enemies to lovers Overruled is a must read!

This 'twas simply not for me. I've liked some of her books and disliked some others, and this was a dislike. I just could not jive with the characters at all!

Also, I thought her hair was black. Why is it brown on the cover?

This was such a fun and engaging love/hate romance. I loved the main characters and their dynamics with each other. The book had great banter but also had an MMC with emotional intelligence and understanding regarding the FMC.

Ok this is easily one of my top Lana Ferguson books alongside The Nanny. I absolutely loved this but I also know that not everyone will feel the same.

This book compared to all of Lana’s other books was “heavy”. Some of the topics and the traumatic pasts of the MCs gave this book a more serious feel than the other books. But this also meant that the characters were fully fleshed out and REAL. I’m usually not one for a miscommunication/non-communication trope but I UNDERSTOOD where the characters were coming from and how their past shaped their actions or lack there of.

The spice was spicing in this book right from the prologue! Whewwwww! I loved Ezra and Dani so much (with all their faults) and how they helped each other heal. 💖

As expected, I loved Overruled! I've been waiting for this book since the preview accidentally printed in The Fake Mate and it did not disappoint! It was full of swoons and super steamy! I definitely recommend people check it out when it releases this summer and will be hand selling it at work!

Absolutely loved!! Lana Ferguson is always an auto-read author for me and Overruled did not disappoint. All you need to know going in to this book is that two opposing lawyers hate f*ck each other a lot. Except he does not hate her at all. And she might not hate him after all. I didn't want to put this book down, and ended up finishing it in only a couple days.

Danica was a fantastic character, her sharp wit and no-nonsense attitude was amazing when contrasted with Ezra's charming shenanigans. I loved all their text messages to each other and the lengths they go to to bug each other. Crashing each other's family parties was hilarious.

There is more to this plot though, both Danica and Ezra are also opposites on a divorce case and I really loved this element to the novel too. It laid a foundation for who they were as people, but also gave another element to the book. I will be highly recommending this to everyone.

Lana Ferguson, love of my life, light of my soul. This story spoke to me in so many ways and I can honestly say she has outdone herself once again. From the characters to the drama to the setting, this well rounded romance made me laugh, cry, and sent my jaw to the floor many times. Dani and Ezra were HOT and the only thing that would have made this book better were if I had a little taste of the first time Dani and Ezra got together... how did it all begin.... a girl can dream I guess. Chapter 11 changed me. Also Bianca Casiraghi is a badass. "I do not fear a man because he wears a suit." LEGEND! Anyways my only note is that Lana gives me more workplace romances. That is all thank you!!!!!

I absolutely eat up this authors books every. single. time. This was fantastic and amazingly perfect with a plot about enemy to lover LAWYERS. I couldn't have asked for a better trope to be reading this month and I devoured the book in one day (as it deserves to be read). One thing is for sure--I will never not love books written by this author.
