Danica & Ezra are rival divorce lawyers at separate firms, and they enjoy going at each other in the courtroom (and in the bedroom). But when their recreational activities begin to be a conflict of interest, they have to cut it off. It should be easy, considering they are enemies...So why can't they stay away from each other?

"Hell, Ezra Hart might as well be a fucking glitch in the Matrix for how much I don't understand about his infuriating appeal."
I enjoyed this SO much!! It felt like an episode of Suits but with incredible spice. I loved the banter between Dani & Ezra, but I loved their sweet moments even more. They were so good at both sharpening & softening each other's edges when needed. The family drama plotlines were interesting & I found their reactions to be extremely human. I do wish we got to see Ezra & Dani meet and entering into their benefits situation! I feel like the sexual tension would've been insaneeee. Overall, a super fun & spicy read for anyone who want to pretend they understand the law LOL.
Thank you so much to Berkeley Publishing Group, NetGalley & Lana Ferguson for an ARC 🫶🏼

Dani & Ezra are my Roman Empire 🧠💭—I seriously can’t stop thinking about them! These two had such rich, complicated backstories, and instead of one saving the other (as we often see), they BOTH showed up for each other in such a powerful way 🤝💛
They weren’t just coasting through life—they were stuck in routines, carrying emotional weight, and trying to make sense of their own messes. But together? They grew. There was so much actual character development here 👏✨ They recognized when they were being stubborn, called themselves out, and genuinely tried to be better—not just for each other, but for themselves.
It felt refreshing to read a story where the tension didn’t stem from cheap drama, but from realistic growth and self-reflection 💬🧠
And don’t even get me started on their vibes 😍 Ezra is the perfect golden retriever energy—charming, confident, a little cocky, but SO full of heart. Danica is the prickly cactus with hidden softness 🌵💕 Their chemistry? Immaculate.
The ending left me feeling full of hope and warmth—and yes, I desperately wish there were a sequel because I’d love to dive deeper into the lives of every side character too!! 🥹📖

This one was okay! The reason I’m giving this 3 stars was because I was more enthralled by the family drama and court case than the actual relationship itself. Still a fun read, but if you’re going to read Lana, maybe stick with The Nanny and Under Loch and Key!
Thank you Berkley and Netgalley for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Though Danica and Ezra are usually on opposing sides of the courtroom, there seems to be an undeniable pull that keeps them coming back for more and more in the bedroom. But when a potentially lucrative court case puts them in the middle of a messy divorce, the two have to shelve their relationship in order to win the case. The problem? As they learn more about each other and get more engrained in each others’ lives, the line between personal and professional entanglement keeps getting thinner and thinner.
This was aaaaaabsolutely scrumptious! I love how Lana Ferguson writes romances, and this one was super duper spicy and hot. I love a workplace romance, and add in the vitriol our FMC has for our MMC plus their banter, and their chemistry was absolutely off the charts. Our MMC’s complex family situation was intriguing, and the drama in his family outside and related to the MCs’ court case was so juicy! This book proved to me I could definitely NOT be a lawyer… but I’m definitely all for reading about the legal jargon as foreplay! 😂 This was so fun, I definitely recommend!
What I Loved About This Story:
✨Enemies with benefits
✨Workplace romance & rivals
✨Black cat FMC x Golden retriever MMC
✨The BANTER omg
✨Delicious & illicit spicy spice!!
Thank you for the free book @BerkleyRomance! I am grateful to be a Berkley Romance 2025 Influencer and given the opportunity to read this book early; my review is all my own.

Thank you to @berkleyromance & @prhaudio for the ARC/ALC!
Look, I’m a simple girl. A workplace rivals to lovers is going to work for me every time. Two divorce lawyers who work for rivals firms? Who have been hate banging (but he doesn’t hate her)? Who have opposite traumas with their families? Give me 14 of them right now.
I loved the courtroom drama just as much as I enjoyed watching their relationship develop!
The audio was FANTASTIC. Engaging narration and distinct characters.

Lana Ferguson keeps getting better and better with every book. If you loved the TV show Suits but wished it were sexier and full of romantic tension, Overruled is for you! Danica is a top-tier divorce lawyer married to her job, and Ezra is the charming courtroom flirt who’s determined to win more than just his cases, he wants her heart, too. They both bring major sparks in and out of the courtroom, and their banter is as sharp as their arguments. What starts as a no-strings arrangement turns into a sizzling, emotional tug-of-war that neither of them saw coming. Full of banter and heat, romance readers are bound to love this one. I did both audio and physical reading for this one and it just elevated the experience even more. The dual narration that Lana Ferguson books have was top tier and I didn’t know I needed it until now. I will be picking up anything she writes!

I wasn’t sure whether this book was going to be more than a fun brain break at first but it got so deep and good without losing its rom com spirit! Huge fan of this one and I think it will do really well!! Our library is inconsistent in buying these kinds of rom coms unless they take off but I will advocate for it :)
Will share more on my social media about it too!!

The chemistry between these two!! No slow burn here! Opponents in court, Dani and Ezra are on fire off of it, much to Dani’s chagrin! There newest divorce case has them facing off again but as they spend more time together Dani starts to realize there’s more to Ezra than she thought. And maybe she wants more too. Another great read from Lana Ferguson.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I had such a good time reading this book! I loved how it opened - it set the scene perfectly and gave us such a clear picture of both Dani and Ezra from the very beginning. The back and forth banter and unflappable-ness of Ezra cracked me up. Obviously I suspected there was more to Ezra than met the eye, but I was very surprised by his family history and trauma. It went a lot deeper and was much more complex than I'd assumed. I mean this as a compliment - it reminded me of a telenovela. It went beyond what you typically see in a standard romcoms, and while it did feel a almost too impossible to be true, it was juuuust inside that line of plausibility for me to buy it. It made Ezra's motivations and struggles believable.
Dani was an interesting FMC. I didn't always love her, but that's ok. I felt like she was being extreme and unreasonable, and part of that may have been the juxtaposition of her family trauma with Ezra's. Trauma isn't a competition, but hers did feel trite in the moment. I was glad that she was able to get herself together in the end.
I think this may have been my first Lana Ferguson book, but it won't be the last! Definitely check it out if you like petty banter, he falls first, feisty FMCs, and spice throughout.

Oh my goodness, I could not put this book down! I ate it up. I finished it within 24 hours. It was an enjoyable and easy read. I loved that we don't get a traditional meet-cute between Danica and Ezra. They are already involved and familiar with each other at the prelude. While yes, this was fun, flirty, and steamy, I stayed for the subplot of the big divorce court drama. The mystery and suspense of it all were so enjoyable. I needed to know how it was going to pan out. I wanted to see who came out on top and how Danica and Ezra would handle it once the proceedings were ruled.
Read if you like an enemies-to-lovers workplace romance with a ton of opposites attract(think golden retriever boyfriend meets black cat girlfriend). Thanks to the publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review. This book releases 7/1

In this steamy enemies-to-lovers romance, we follow the POVs of two lawyers, Ezra Hart and Danica "Dani" Pierce, as they spar both in and out of the courtroom. The banter? Witty, sharp, and laugh-out-loud funny, not just between Ezra and Dani, but also courtesy of Dani’s legal dynamic duo assistants, Nate and Vera. Seriously, someone needs to give that duo their own book!
Legal jargon has never sounded so good. Ezra and Dani are a sizzling couple who bring the heat, but also a surprising amount of heart. Their story is packed with raw emotion, vulnerability, complexity, a dash of family drama, and plenty of moments that’ll make you blush.
This was my first read from this author, and now I’m genuinely curious to explore more of her work. I honestly enjoyed this book way more than I expected. The cover had me thinking it’d be just another light rom-com, and I’m thrilled to be proven wrong.

I sadly DNF’d I’m so sorry 😭😭 for some reason I just couldn’t get past the first 10 chapters. I love Lana but this one just wasn’t for me

This book was just AMAZING! Anything written by Lana Ferguson never fails to wow me. Her writing style is so engaging and there is never a dull moment between the two main characters. Grumpy x sunshine is one of my favourite book tropes and this book encased it perfectly. The banter, the tension, and the spice had me finishing the book in ONE sitting. This is a 5 stars from me, just marvellous!

I’m not sure what Ferguson puts in her writing, but I eat it up every time. She even made me love a romance starring the Loch Ness Monster, so I’m really not surprised that this spicy enemies with benefits to lovers romance had me hooked from the first page. It leads with the heat, diving right into the spice and slowly developing the emotional connection. These dueling divorce lawyers have already had a series of hookups when the book begins, attempting to work out their attraction “one last time,” yet remaining unable to stay away. I loved that it was the hero pursuing, even though he felt out of his element doing so. Both characters have their reasons to stay away, and yet they keep getting drawn back together like magnets. The story was fresh, fun, and exceedingly bingeable. I devoured it in one sitting, and enjoyed it more and more as the story progressed. A definite win for me.
The story follows Dani and Ezra, divorce lawyers who are often on opposite sides of the courtroom. They both deal with divorce on a daily basis and have their own reasons for being resistant to relationships, but the chemistry that sparks between them is undeniable. Though Ezra is happy to continue their hot hookups, Dani is doing everything she can to avoid falling into (everywhere but) bed with him again. When the two find themselves on opposite sides of an important case, they have even more reason to resist. But there’s a reason why Dani and Ezra can’t seem to stay away from each other, and that becomes obvious once they finally connect on a deeper level.
I never know what to expect from Ferguson’s books, and I kind of love that. Her writing is compulsively bingeable, and her stories are always light, swoony, and spicy. That’s definitely the case here as well - Dani and Ezra have such a compelling connection. Their bickering/bantering made it clear that there was something deeper there, and I loved watching them slowly let down their walls. Starting with the heat and then developing the emotional connection made for a unique storyline progression, and the workplace element was fun as well. While Dani is prickly, Ezra is the right kind of arrogant, and I loved that he was so steadfast and determined. I binged this before I even knew it was happening, and had a great time the whole way through.

This one wasn’t really for me and unfortunately that’s the case with half of this author’s books. There were aspects of their relationship that I just didn’t love and I felt like we were missing too much of their backstory to get drawn in. The court cases were interesting and I liked those more than the actual romance.

I love a sassy golden retriever man, and Ezra has it in spades. The banter between him and Dani was *chefs kiss*. There was enough story to keep me invested and the spicy scenes were so good! I will be recommending this to everyone. Plus the revenge gave me so much satisfaction. Can’t wait for her next one!

Lana Ferguson is back at it again. Overruled is a combination of my favorite tropes, rivals to lovers and workplace romance. And they’re BEAUTIFULLY done.
I loved Dani. She’s my favorite FMC of the last couple months and I want to be friends with her. Or be with her, maybe? I’m still undecided on that part. She’s a badass divorce lawyer and is not afraid to take on a challenge, even if it’s to stay away from Ezra.
And speaking of Ezra, I hated this man at first. Like we had beef and he’s FICTIONAL. But he quickly grew on me when I realized where all his cockiness was coming from.
The main conflict was executed perfectly. The ending was satisfying and I’m glad Alexander got what he deserved.
I did find Overruled a little too long for my liking and I think there could’ve been more of their relationship shown. We’re not able to fully connect with Dani and Ezra as a couple because their relationship already exists in some capacity at the very beginning and I think a couple throwback scenes could’ve helped with the disconnect.
Overall, LF has become my auto buy author now and I will in fact read anything she writes.

Lana Ferguson is a hit or miss author for me, so I was curious how this book would be. I love an enemies to lovers romance typically, but I honestly found both the FMC and MMC lacking in this book. Danica seemed unnecessarily mean some of the time, and the chemistry between her and Ezra was just okay. They seemed like very immature characters for being grown adults. Although maybe it is because they have definitely been through some rough backgrounds and history. Because I still liked the banter and tension, and the spice was great- I did enjoy the book but not as much as I hoped.

Overruled delivers exactly what it promises: a sizzling workplace romance set in the high-stakes world of law. Packed with clever banter, slow-burn tension, and big time chemistry, the story follows two ambitious lawyers whose rivalry in the courtroom turns into something much steamier behind closed doors. The legal setting adds a sharp edge to the romance, making every interaction charged with both professional tension and undeniable attraction. A few little twists along the way to keep the reader coming back for more.

My ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Get ready for an enemies are lovers, he falls first, messy family, lawyer lovefest.
