Thank you so much to Berkley Romance for my ARC ❤️
4/5 ⭐️

I LOVED this. It was so much fun. Who knew a spicy enemies-to-lovers lawyers/opposing counsel could be so much fun. I’ve only ever read one other book by this author, but this one definitely solidified Lana Ferguson as an auto-buy author for me now. I loved Dani and Ezra from the start and I simply did not want their story to end!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I’m always going to eat up a book with an enemies-to-lovers plot!
In Overruled, we follow Danica and Ezra, two talented, hardworking divorce lawyers who despise each other—but also happen to have intense sexual chemistry.
Danica and Ezra are hired as opposing counsel in a high-stakes divorce case. For Danica, this case is the opportunity of a lifetime: if she wins, she’ll be offered a partnership at her firm. The catch? Ezra has an impressive winning streak, and he definitely won’t let her take the case without a fight!!
I truly had a time with this book! I’m not going to lie—the spice started immediately in chapter one, and I was SHOOK (but in the best way). Ezra was everything in this book! It’s an enemies-to-lovers story, but let me just say—he was absolutely feral for Danica, and she was not getting the memo. The chemistry was everything, and Ezra adored her! Like, I’m always going to love a man who knows what he wants—and he wanted Danica! It just took her a bit to realize it for sure.
Overall, a 4.25⭐️ read for me! I'm now in the mood to binge-watch a legal drama—ha!
Thank you so much to Berkley Publishing Group and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC!

Okay I really enjoyed this book even with some things I felt could've been more. This was a very easy to read book with banter, romance and humor sprinkled in. I enjoyed that it had a legal side that I don't see/read too often. The MMC was a cutie pie, and I feel for his cocky attitude right away. I understand that the FMC is a lawyer so I get where her feisty ness and 'i hate you' (very repetative) side comes from.
All in all, if you want a quick and easy spicy romance this is a good pick. I ate this book up quickly and had a good time reading about the subplot.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I love Lana Ferguson, and her characters! She dives deep into their personalities and the romance that makes me feel like I really know them! I loved the banter and the chemistry between these two lovers. I loved the business setting and the atmosphere too!

This was my first novel from Lana Ferguson but it will not be my last. This was entertaining and so charming. The banter was fantastic and I loved how the two MCs had professional respect for each other. This starts with spice but doesn’t allow the spice to overwhelm the plot. The character growth goes hard and you will find yourself rooting for both MCs to get their happy ending.

Overruled by Lana Ferguson had a fun premise and moments of sharp, snappy banter. The enemies-to-lovers setup was promising, and there were definitely a few swoony or steamy moments that stood out.
However, I struggled to fully connect with the characters. Their chemistry felt a bit uneven, and some of the emotional beats didn’t quite hit the way I hoped. The legal setting was interesting but sometimes felt like it took a backseat to the romance in a way that left the plot feeling a bit thin.
That said, Ferguson’s writing has a lot of potential. I appreciated the effort to balance humour with heavier themes, even if it didn’t quite come together for me this time.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

I love rivals with benefits! The author always has the best banter. and I loved the chemistry between Ezra and Dani. I can't say a messy office romance will ever top a loch ness monster romance for me but this was a very good office romance.

I loved Ferguson's previous contemporary (hockey romance, The Game Changer) so I had high hopes for her newest contemporary. Overall, I enjoyed the book. The fmc and mmc were good together and their interactions were cute, funny and hot. My main issue was with the law aspect of the 3rd act breakup which didn't seem to make any sense. That being said, I still enjoyed the book and will happily read more from this author.

f there’s anything I can count on @lanafergusonwrites doing, it’s writing a book that is equal parts funny, sweet, and spicy as hell. I’ve loved Lana’s writing journey and have read all her books. But “Overruled” has taken the top spot, no question (thank you @berkleyromance for the early copy!). I fell head over heels for Ezra and Dani from their very first banter-filled “this is the last time” hookup.
The tension between these two is thick and taut from the first page. They are already mid-illicit affair (they’re lawyers often on opposite ends of the courtroom) and both have their own things to prove. Dani is trying to succeed in her firm on her own merit, and Ezra is trying to break free of his family’s influence. They are rivals in the true sense of the word and that’s clear from the start.
In true Lana fashion, there is so much banter and heat between these two. I loved the push and pull and seeing Ezra fall first had me giddy. The man was so smitten with Dani, and Dani was so obliviously still fighting him every step of the way. They were so evenly matched and it was so fun to read about a couple that both give as good as they get.
I’m also the biggest fan of courtroom dramas. I cut my teeth on Law and Order & Criminal Minds. I still think about what would’ve been if I’d actually gone to law school. So I LOVED the court drama and the backdrop of the case. Not only was it a good story, but it was such a fantastic way to help Dani and Ezra evolve their own character arcs. It was so well done and clearly added so much depth to this story.
And of course it’s not a Lana book without the spice to end all spice. Lana can write a GOOD scene, consistently and without fail. Dani and Ezra were so hot together and their chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS.

Thank you to Berkley Romance for the advance reader copy and to PRH Audio for the complimentary audiobook. These opinions are my own. #BerkleyPartner
This novel brings all the heat I expect from Lana Ferguson. Danica and Ezra clash regularly in the courtroom while having a not friends with benefits arrangement outside of it. There's so much banter and tension.
I found the plot arc for their current divorce case especially compelling. And I really liked both characters and the overall storyline. I would have liked a bit more acknowledgement of the ethics of their relationship dynamic (or lack thereof), but I was okay with suspending disbelief to enjoy the book.
The tension between the two main characters was brought to life so well by Connor Crais and Samantha Summers. I have long enjoyed his performances, and she did a phenomenal job as well.

Overruled is a delightful blend of steamy romance, sharp banter, and emotional depth. Lana Ferguson delivers a story that’s equal parts fun and heartfelt, with characters you can’t help but root for. The chemistry is off the charts, and the legal setting adds a fresh, clever twist. A must-read for fans of spicy rom-coms with strong, lovable leads!

Overruled came in hot and did not disappoint! The banter was top-tier, the chemistry was undeniable, and the spice? Whew! Your honor, I’d like to file a motion to never recover.
I do wish there had been just a tiny bit more plot development or external conflict. It leaned pretty heavily into the romance bubble but honestly? I ate it up anyway. If you’re here for steam, smart women, and hot lawyers with secret soft sides, you’re absolutely in the right courtroom.

This is my first “courtroom”’romance I’ve read and I loved it. Two divorce attorneys and opposing counsel equals great competition and banter between the two main characters! Lana makes you fall in love with characters but also makes you loathe a couple entirely. The twist at the end is didn’t see coming! Thank you Net Galley & the publisher for this ARC!

While I did enjoy Overruled, I feel that Lana Ferguson's strength is in her fantasy romances. The characters are well rounded and their interactions are fun, but there's just something missing for me.

Not my favourtite Lana Ferguson book. Workplace(ish) romance are not a trope I usually enjoy, but I wanted to give it a try because I normally love this author. Didn't predict what happend at the end with the case, but I also realized that law stories are not for me.
3.5 stars round up to a 4 because the writing and story were good, it just wasn't the book for me.

Oh, this was so good for me. It’s been a minute since I read a Lana Ferguson book and her writing scratches an itch in my brain so well.
I’ve been on a insta-love kick (not my fav, but that’s how my tbr has stacked up lately) and this was seemingly some variant of it, because we start off in a spicy scene between our enemies with benefits. I wasn’t sure if that dynamic was going to sit well with me, but it absolutely did.
Ezra was one of the most interesting, complex, and well fleshed out MMC’s I’ve read. His backstory was so intriguing and responsible for at least half of the reason I was so enthralled.
Danica on the other hand was just fine to me. She was relatable with her relationship traumas, but I do think her familial trauma and backstory was kind of a stretch. I honestly just tried to ignore that part.
The two of them together were completely electric, though. The way they anticipated each other moves in and out of the courtroom was so fun to read. The whole B Plot of the high profile divorce case with our main characters as opposing counsel was genius and thrilling and had me on the edge of my seat.
Very grateful that this book reminded me I need to be circulating more Lana Ferguson in my tbr.

I just don't think this author is for me.. Enemies to lovers is a hard trope - I felt the FMC protest too much, like I didn't even know the real reason why she hated the MMC? It seemed over the top and extremely petty, she needed to grow up. Read 20% and its a DNF for me.

This book brings the spice immediately. We’re talking page one. No waiting until the 75% mark for a single scene—there were three before I even hit 30%. 🙈 Normally, that might wear me out a bit, but Ferguson writes it so well.
This is a classic rivals-to-lovers, he-falls-first contemporary romcom. The beats are familiar, but the execution kept me engaged—I flew through it in under a day! I genuinely liked both main characters (and that’s saying something, because I never fall for blonde MMCs—give me dark and brooding any day).
I also appreciated the nuanced exploration of cheating. Neither MC cheats or is cheated on, but as divorce lawyers, it’s part of their daily lives. It added some really thoughtful layers, almost reminding me of Beach Read by Emily Henry.
If you’re into spice, dirty talk, and that rivals-to-lovers tension, this one’s worth picking up.

Another Ferguson that absolutely hits! It's the comedy for me, every time. Makes me bark laugh and giggle. I usually do not love books with lawyers and law, but this was pleasant surprise. Would definitely recommend!
