One think that I have discovered about Katie Powner's books is that, while they may not always be those that capture me right from the start, they will build more slowly and by the end, I will find myself completely invested in every character. This was certainly true for this story--- a story filled with imperfect characters who need grace and forgiveness. Each of these characters weaved their way into my heart and had me rooting for them in the end. They each had their own struggles-- Tad learning that he had a child ad having to learn to be a young, single dad, Anita in her struggles with RA and trying to navigate parenting an adult with special needs, and of course that child, Sam, whose disabilities sometimes left him vulnerable to others' ill intentions. This is a story that is messy at times, but also hopeful, beautiful and real. I've enjoyed other books by the author in the past as well, but I do think this might be a new favorite from her. If you enjoy smalltown, contemporary Christian fiction, this is certainly one to add to your TBR.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

What a powerful story of grace and forgiveness! Powner creates a masterpiece depicting the struggles of farm life, families, and small towns. Her stories always come to life as I am reading and this one is no different.
Wonderful, lifelike characters who are relatable make the story flow and easily picturing yourself in their place. Tad is a young man who hasn’t had many people to believe in him nor the best life. He finds himself working on Come Around Ranch for the Wilson’s who have known their share of troubles. Together, they learn to weather the storms thrown at them and what grace really means.
A beautiful story that is a must read! While fiction, it is a realistic depiction of what farm life and life in general is like.
I was given a complimentary copy of the book by the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

Katie Powner has done it again with another super book about our lives in the Midwest! She just knows how to touch our hearts and reach deep down in our relationships with each other. This story is about a ranch and the family the runs it. They have an adult son that will never progress beyond the mental capacity of an eight year old. They have hired a ranch hand that was about his age in school and he treats their son well. We get to watch the ranch hands life unfold, the son, the mother's worries and her struggles to let them go to God. It was an amazingly intricate tale of life, family and friendship. Excellent book!

Another beautiful story by Katie Powner. When the Road Comes Around is a story of giving people second chances, believing in them and their ability to change. It has representation of arthritis, an adult with metal disabilities and his parents, and a single dad. It reminds you that there is more to people and the decisions they make than what appears on the surface and sometimes you just need one person to take a chance on you and believe in you.

This is my first book by the author. I really loved reading this book until the very end. You see the characters' struggles and you root for them. You become invested in their lives. This is a story of grace and praying for those you love and care about. I did feel like it came to an abrupt end and I wanted to read more. The author left it open ended and asked in her discussion questions, what the reader thinks happens. I do wish there was more closure. Not sure that this is the type of book that would be part of a series. So even though it's a book with fictional characters, I'm going to be always wondering what happened. I really want to know. Maybe the author will write a sequel.

I just finished this powerful story and Wow! Another wonderful Katie Powner story. I think this one will be my favorite.
I devoured this book in one sitting. This was just so good that I couldn't put it down.
Poor Tad. My heart just went out to him. I really hated what people did and said to him. Made me so upset at times.
Anita is the best kind of character. She's amazing! I love her ability to keep going no matter what.
There can never be enough prayers to go around. Lots of praying in this beautiful story.
There are some not so nice things going on that I didn't care for.
Definitely a lot of misunderstandings and deception but I loved it all.
I'm giving this book 5 stars for keeping me entertained all the way through. I simply couldn't put it down until Tad told me his story. I'm still thinking about him. I hope he gets another story. I'd like to see what happened to him and Charlie. For clarification Charlie is a nickname short for Charlotte. Charlie is what made this book special in my heart. Babies are a gift from God.
For a gentle reminder; Everyone deserves Grace and chances no matter how many times we tend to goof up. We are human. We have feelings friends. It's not up to us to judge others.
In my opinion, that's the message this book offers. That there's Grace,Hope and Forgiveness for everyone.
I hated to see this story end.
I'll be adding this to my shelf of favorites!
My thanks to Interviews and Reviews via NetGalley from Bethany House publishers.

There's so much to love about this story - flawed, real characters who have baggage and struggle to make the right decisions in life, a woman who prays for others and trusts God to work in every situation despite her own weakness and insecurities, grace upon grace for a young man who had a rough childhood and is trying to make his way in life, and so much more.
Powner's stories always draw me in and give me all the feels. I especially love how the author's heart for foster kids and adoption shines through so many of her books.
The reason I gave four stars instead of five is due to several uses of the word "hell" as a curse word, which I don't expect to find in a Christian book. It did make sense from the character who used the word, but it's just a personal thing for me. Also, the ending left me hanging, which I wasn't excited about. I was looking for closure and answers, at least in a couple of areas, but felt like I didn't get it. There's definitely room for a sequel, but I don't know if that's the author's plan or not.
Do I recommend this read? Absolutely, yes! Well worth my time and I plan to read every book this author puts out!
*Thanks to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book. A favorable review was not required, and all thoughts are my own.
